Happy Memorial Day everyone! Hope you enjoy this video with our good friend Keith! He was nervous at first but we think he did a great job! Let us know below if you’d like to see Keith in more videos!
I liked it with Keith. Like someone else said, it's still your channel and still your video but it's nice to have someone along for the ride (literally). Like Frasier and Niles.
I LIKE THIS REVIEW WHERE YOU HAVE ANOTHER PERSON. IT GIVES YOUR CHANNEL A LITTLE VARIETY WHILE STILL BEING YOUR OWN. DOING YOUR REGULAR REVIEWS AND THROWING IN A DIFFERENT REVIEW FORMAT, EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE, MAKES YOUR CHANNEL STAY FRESH. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.
You and Alex on Autos are my "go to" review channels. You both give great info and complement each other so I always feel like I got the full picture. Great comparison video and Keith is a good addition!
40 is older, than 30. 50 is older than 40. And so on. 40 is a great age and if you take care of yourself, 40-52 are the best years overall. Not physically, but physically and experience-wise, the best years. Physically we can still have good tone but that starts to break down in the 50s.
Volvo v60 and v90 xc90 xc60 all have wireless charging systems.... and to answer other persons comment. Kids = no loud system. ADDING... having a wife = no loud car system as well. TOGETHER= BROKE BROKE BROKE... lol
Really appreciate this video, I wanted a V60 at first but the Outback is such a better value, and the turbo is surprisingly fun. I've had my '24 for 3 months now and it's been great overall.
I'm just so happy that now a days, you can be openly gay on a channel like this and get virtually no backlash. Also I'm considering picking up a v60. This vid was pretty helpful
Eric Pizarro This channel has changed into a dating TH-cam channel.Have you seen some of the other comments of guys saying hot good looking these guys are & crap & nothing about the cars?
To everyone saying this is a dumb comment or him being gay doesn't matter, that's exactly my point. Just a few years ago, if he had this channel and he came out, he would lose a lot of his audience. All I'm saying is it's amazing that no one cares. No one should care.
I was a huge Subaru guy for 15 years. Owned an STi, a WRX, an old Impreza Wagon, and an Outback XT. Last year I bought a lightly used Volvo V60. There's no competition. The Volvo is on a whole different level and vastly superior in just about every way.
I hear that the Apple Car play screen size is not the car manufacturers fault but is governed by Apple. As one of those "older" (44yrs old) drivers referenced in this video by your guest co-host Keith. I went with a 2020 Subaru Onyx XT Outback. Have not regretted it at all. Love it and love your videos. Maryland resident here so I'm sending some local love your way.
Java Brown Leather! We love our 2019 Outback 3.6 Touring. It's a modern Vista Cruiser, smooth, comfy, numb as hell. My wife adores it. I'm shopping for the last gen V60 R-Design, or Polestar. Seats to die for. Knobs for basic functions as well. Nice buddy review.
I had a rental V8 Mustang for 11 days then got off the plane and got back into my V60 ( not CC). The Volvo felt 100% more refine than the powerful Mustang from the seat to the suspension down to the stereo and wind noise. My desire to get a MustNg as a fun second car went out the window instantly!
I would definitely pick the Volvo V60 Cross Country over the Subaru Outback. Plus, my family members have owned multiple Volvo sedans in the past from the brick shaped 850, to the curvy aerodynamic 2nd gen S60, pragmatic and reliable Volvo 780, and our brand new 2019 Volvo S60!
I would pick Subaru Outback even if they cost the same, because outback is faster, more fuel efficiency and it only requires regular unleaded fuel, has ventilated seats, more ground clearance, better off road, hands free tailgate, all driver assist features. (Including front camera). Also, I personally don’t care about panoramic sunroof, so the standard sunroof on outback is okay, and I personally think Harmon Kardon premium audio is enough for me. I can definitely see why it’s the best selling wagon.
Nice review! These are both on my short list of future cars. I had a Subaru wagon back in the 80's and have been driving Volvo's for 17 years, all bought new 2003 S60, 2010 S80, 2015 XC60. Both brands do things differently compared to the mainstream and that's cool to me. The Volvo's are just really expensive to maintain and repair so I'm thinking about giving Subaru a try. I have been lucky that the really expensive Volvo repairs happened under warranty including a major engine repair on the XC60. There are just too many $500 service intervals, and repairs on the Volvo's.
The Volvo looks great and I do like the way they drive. I have driven recent S90 and a XC90. Both I agree with Keith when he mentioned the coarse sounding engine. I have not driven the new Subaru turbo, my current Subaru has the 3.6 6-cylinder. For 16k grand less, more power, more room, better functionality, better reliability, and better resale value, it’s the Outback hands down. Heck for $16k I could put one heck of a sounds system in it.
I’m a Subaru nut. Not crazy about the outback. To me it’s still a wagon! Don’t like that. Plus don’t need anything that big. I’m a Forester person. Loved when they made the change in 2016. I have the 2019 and will continue to get them. Have never been disappointed
Idk how I missed this video "With Keith"! Every time you say Keith I smile cause I love his reactions and opinion of vehicles, very similar taste! Great review of two similar wagons. Yes, Keith is 100% right. I'd take the Volvo for the sound system and the Subaru for value. Thanks sofyan and Keith 😉
@@ТыиЯ-у2ъ I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time - Audi’s tend to get expensive to run once your warranty is up (at least, here in North America they do) I ended up buying a truck so we could tow a camper, which wasn’t something we had considered at the point I made the comment above!
Still hoping against hope the 50 mpg Corolla AWD Hybrid wagon will join the battle some day. As it is made in the same Japanese factories that supply our Corolla hatch and Hybrid Sedan, it should not be too much of a stretch for Toyota to load a few on the same ship.
@Upstate SC Dashcam So far Toyota is only using a 1.2 turbo engine with their manual Corolla wagons in Europe and Japan. As I am not usually a fan of turbos I am focusing my encouragement on the same 1.8 Hybrid eAWD powertrain Toyota already uses with the Prius. As regards brown, I believe that color is available in Europe ;)
For some reason, the engine sound on Subaru felt far unrefined than that on Volvo. I’m amazed how he found Vovo to be unrefined over Subaru. And Volvo has better ambience than Subaru.
Lüvv Sürya I have a Subaru Crosstrek with a 2.0 and CVT and a Volvo XC60 with the same drivetrain as the V60CC. I added the Polestar ECU flash. The Crosstrek’s drivetrain is much smoother and quieter. I like the Volvo’s engine except for the sound.
I’m glad you called out the Harman audio system in the Subaru. I bought an Ascent Toruing last year with the premium audio without hearing it before buying. I wasn’t expecting much, because, well, Subaru hasn’t had the greatest reputation on audio quality from past models. I was beyond pleasantly surprised when I took that first drive and fed it some quality tracks over CarPlay, it’s a damn good system and while it won’t touch the ultra high end stuff as this video notes, it’s far better than all the base luxury systems on the market. Go Subaru.
Not sure about the current models, but I know they extended the warranty on the cvt on my 2011 Outback to 10 years or 100k miles. I'm at 9.5 years and 90k miles and not a single issue with the CVT.
The first CVT had issues with the torque converter failing to release when coming to a stop as mileage rises. This was fixed by a new torque converter. I heard there was a smaller issue with the valve body. Some depending on the dealer you went to, they may have been willing to replace the valve body. Others would go right to transmission replacement.
@@lordflyquad4721 The Subaru CVT is alot different than the GM CVT. Subaru is alot better then CVT. Had to replaced my higher mileage Malibu , I don't like the gearing. The 2018 Subaru Outback Premium 2.5 CVT is great, it sits in garage waiting for the weekend
In my opinion, the V60 XC is a justifiable upgrade over the Outback. I prefer the style, the lower ride height, the nicer interior and the 8 speed automatic. I’d probably take it easier on the options than that particular tester, however. Or maybe even just go for the normal V60.
Yeah you preferred volvo coz of your family tradition on cars and some say they pick subaru coz of tradition on cars. What ever you pick as your horse thats yours
Thanks, Sofyan, for following through on my comparison suggestion! For me, the outside styling of the Volvo wins hands down. That, the transmission, panoramic sunroof, overall luxury vibe, better seats, and what I imagine would be a better dealer experience are the reasons I'd consider spending the extra dough--but it remains a tough call. There's also the issue of comparative off-road performance, where Subaru no doubt excels. Thanks again for the comparison.
Email the Volvo dealer business manager directly and you will likely see the extra dough not that much "extra". Easily 10 to 15% discount from MSRP on new Volvo's. BTW I own two Volvo's both bought new, one for 17% off MSRP the and other 21%. Good luck and enjoy your new V60cc. It is the most beautiful exterior design of all cars! :-)
Can confirm true... between the AWD algorithm and CVT the subbie is weaker off road. Not to say either car handle off-road well, both are soft-readers not proper off-roaders but I have a XC70 T6 AWD and my friend has a Subbie almost identical to this guy’s in the video and we played around off-road a few times on some of our easy and medium ATV trails but Volvo everytime it got kinda stuck you just turn off traction control (DSTC Sport mode) and nail the throttle until it figured it out which it always did because it stick nibble at brakes a bit to work out which wheel is floating vs biting but won’t cut power. The Subbie if it got stuck it was stuck, no amount of enabling and disabling things seemed to help, it would protect its CVT first and foremost plus the AWD algorithm was a bit more blind on the subbie like it aka most took twice as long for it to work out what wheel it need to free up which is a real issue because a lot of times that’s how you get more stuck if you can’t keep momentum. the Volvo had a delay too but not nearly as blind it felt like it knew which wheel it needs to fight with and the delay was more down to the haldex system’s delay. Also correcting lateral sliding where as Volvo with DSTC enabled (not sport) let it happen in a controlled fashion If I can keep my foot planted and was steering and hold a slide in the mud where as Subbie was beyond confused and was fighting to get traction. TL;DR: yes Volvo is better off road because it’s far more willing to throw rocks and burn rubber and dig itself out of problems, it also has much better AWD algorithm and makes sense in my mind as Volvo’s are Swedish and have to cope with snow by default which is extremely complex to figure out in computer algorithm that handles it for you and requires allowing for slip but not too much and maintaining momentum.
+1, and I wouldn't want (or dare) to own a out-of-warranty newer Volvo. A colleague had a XC90, always chasing some electrical gremlins. Returned it after 2 years.
@@michelt4390 (In support of your comment) Moral of the story is "stop buying new cars". A pre SCA Volvo (P1, P2, P3, P80 etc.) will, theoretically, outlast any Subie or modern Volvo even when tuned.
@@tommaso_v24 I think most people in this part of the world would love to keep their cars on the road longer... Unfortunately, corrosion is a killer. It doesn't matter how much you wash it, oil it, it gets to the wiring and the sensors
As a longtime, multi Volvo owner, I have never, ever experienced a blown or a leaking head gasket on 'any' of my Volvos. However, I have heard that due to the Subaru sideways engine, these are prone to head gasket leaks. I find it strange that they didn't mention this.
Looking at the reliability charts based on the last 5 years here in the uk, the Volvo is less reliable according to this user survey. (Making it less reliable than the french Citroen) www.whatcar.com/news/2020-what-car-reliability-survey-brands/n20069 My dad had volvos as i was growing up, they were heavy tanks to drive IMO.
the first time i saw this comparison i thought you guys were being completely bias but in the past two weeks i have been able to test drive both of these and you are spot on. the new outback xt's are a bargain if you don't care about the name or sleeker looks.
I don’t care what Subaru says, the Outback is not an SUV. It’s a wagon, or maybe a crossover. The Forester and Ascent are SUVs, but not the Outback. Also, nice job, Keith!
I really wish that Subaru would put the 2.4T into the Crosstrek, and they would have a sale. I don't like the lifted wagon look of the Outback, nor the anemic powertrain of the Crosstrek.
The Outback is definitely a wagon, a Forester is the same class as a CRV(junk) and RAV4. An Ascent is compared to a Highlander and Pilot (junk). Ohio is pulluted by Honda and Toyota. I went with a 2018 Subaru Outback Premium 2.5
lowlife74 Myabe the newer Hondas aren’t good, but we’ve owned two CRVs and they were decent vehicles. They were quite boring though, and I think bland even by SUV standards.
Some thoughts: 1. The 2020 Outbacks can all fit a full sized spare tire. But only the Onyx XT comes with a full sized spare. 2. Yes, the Onyx XT sound system is throw away. But you can add the Rockford-Fossgate (can be dealer installed after purchase) and it sounds great. 3. The turbo in the XT reaches full torque at 2K rpm. And the huge inter cooler keeps it working well; just keep it clean periodically. 4. The Outback has a small sun roof, but less glass to break as you load up the roof.
You can’t talk about the Volvo without talking about important things you don’t see: full aluminum on the whole suspension and sub-frame, the much more sophisticated brakes, and the superior welding And body adhesives. The B&W is by actual measured tests the best sound system in any car from any brand under 90k. For someone that has the money, there is no comparison. No one needs the XC. Get the regular V60 with the T6 engine and you’re set.
Meh, Volvo may have wonderful aesthetics...there's no questioning their interiors are among the best in the luxury segment...and its construction & safety is still a brand hallmark, but the Japanese Aisin transmission. part-time Haldex based AWD, and turbo 4-cylinders aren't as refined as their past 5 & 6 cylinders engines, especially compared to the German makes. Engine & tranny match isn't smooth for its class, especially at $60k...and in XC60, interior materials are nowhere as nice as the V90. I'm not convinced Chinese Volvo is markedly better than when Volvo was American owned. Time will tell if Geely will really make Volvo thrive.
That’s why I call BS on people cross shopping these two vehicles. They may look at the Volvo but really have no intention of buying it due to the higher cost. If you can afford the V60 you will most certainly but it over the Subaru. You see more Outback because it’s more affordable to the average consumer. Subaru is not a direct competitor to Volvo so lets stop with the comparison. Compare Subaru to Mazda
@@v60polestar88 I forgot the they own the Subaru already, hurts the video's cred a tad for me. They had the Tesla before and got rid of it for the Subaru, which I get, but to then say the Volvo isn't their pick obviously doesn't make this a fair mashup, also considering where the Subaru and Volvo sit in class, size, etc. Seems to skew towards justifying buying the Subaru against the Volvo which was spec'd above where the Subaru punches, and then say the Volvo is too pricey, etc. Shows that the Subaru is a jacked crossover to be compared to an XC60 instead of an actual wagon?
@@v60polestar88 You would be surprised. A good chunk of Subaru's demographic can afford much more car than a Volvo even, yet still choose Subaru. They also have a higher percentage of cash buyers than many other brands.
Volvo’s use to be very reliable and was the safest car on the road. No, sadly Volvo’s reliability has fallen and is very pricey to repair. Subaru has made great strides to improve their reliability and the Outback is now one of the safest car on the road, surpassing Volvo. One of my brother-in-law’s and his wife own a Volvo 60 sport utility. It is very comfortable, has plenty of horsepower and torque. They also own an Outback. At 200K miles, the Volvo needs some major repairs. Their Outback has 275K miles and have no problems. My other brother and sister in law buy Outback’s exclusively. She puts 50K miles on her newest (2020 ) Outback a year. She has 100K miles on it. Their last Outback had over 300K miles on it, when she hit a deer and totaled it. Last November I bought my wife a 2019 Outback. It only had 5,600 miles on it when I bought it. Her Subie has 16K miles on it now. We don’t like the CVT transmission and the 2.5 naturally aspirated engine is a bit too gutless for me, but my wife LOVES it for her commute to work. I enjoy driving it as it is also our road car. My 11 Rav 4WD Limited with a 3.5 V6 with 269 hp, has a LOT of pep and gets 26mpg at 75 on the freeway.
great job guys. i grew up with volvos but have owned subarus as an adult. i love both. maybe its because I'm in my 40's now but i am leaning volvo. the v60 cc is just so damn beautiful. inside and out. the bw sound system and the large moon roof has me hooked. however economic downturns make the outback look very reasonable.
That was a great comparison video, guys. I bought a brand new 1996 960 wagon that ended up being a heartbreaking nightmare of a car when it came to repairs. I loved the car when it was running but I would never, ever buy another one.
Hey Sofyan , since your channel has grown over the years... I think a few of us would like a short video of all the people full time, part time, that put Redline Reviews together. You being on a plane so much this past year... there must be a few people responsible for putting out the final product. Look forward to some behind the scenes people and process... (well a little of the process... you don't have to give away secrets).
I always wanted to get my wife a Volvo like the 60 or 90, but I kept hearing quality issues, plus I couldn’t afford the Volvo I wanted, I ended up getting her a Forrester sport, and it has been a great car? The Forrester was made in Japan, my 2020 xt was assembled in Indiana? Motor and transmission made in Japan, it might be a coincidence, but my seat has broken twice , and trim has come loose one, I have 8900 miles? While the Forrester has had no issues?
How timely! My wife’s Volvo V60 just got totaled in a flash flood and we bought an Outback XT Limited to replace it. The Outback beat the V60 and Audi Q5 on features. Price difference was not as dramatic as you might think. A loaded Outback XT is surprisingly close in price to a similarly equipped Q5
I drove these two and the Buick Regal wagon and ended up with the Volvo. I had only a few options and paid a hair under 40 out the door ( mine was the regular wagon not XC). Those comments at the end of the video about the Subaru being more reliable doesn't wash with me and many other people I know who have driven Subaru.
The more expensive luxury car doesn’t have paddles because they know it’s a waste and a joke. No one uses paddle shifters except for as a toy or a supercar
_9:01__ "As this one sits, it weighs about the same as the Subaru actually; a little over 4000 lbs. They are within a 100 lbs of each other" -- Sofyan Bey_ - Subaru 3885 lbs (@8:20) - Volvo 4202 lbs (@8:40) - Difference (4202 - 3884) = 318 lbs @Sofyan Bey, how did you arrive at 100 lbs?
OK, this needs to be a new recurring segment! Bringing in a drivers first impression of the car and giving information on the side. You got something going on here no other channels doing! 😆
4 yrs ago, I bought a 2012 TSX Sport Wagon for $20k out the door. If you love wagons, look for one of these unicorns, which are rare but some of Honda's very best work.
This is the first review that picked the outback over the volvo. I have seen about 10 reviews. They all stated how much better the volvo was in build in quality etc. Also how it reminds once IE of your seat belt not bring on and then does not remind again for awhile. An adult wagon that is classy and clean.
I needed a vehicle that was robust and capable of weekly commutes with weekend muddy tracks/muddy boots/muddy loads in the back. I looked long and hard at the V60 CC, and bought an Outback. I changed that outback the other week, after 3 years and 50,000 fairly hard miles, and I had a good look at was available again. I looked at the V60 CC once more. And this time, I bought another Outback. What swung it for me was that the Volvo demonstrator was coming up for a year old, and the interior had lots of marks on it, and the car just looked “shabby” and tired, despite being washed and polished. It had some scrapes on the sills, the guy saying it has been used to tow a trailer to horse events, Highland Games and game fairs. That normally means wet fields and getting bogged in mud. I also noticed a lot of interior fittings felt loose. That car only had 6,000 miles on it. So far the new Outback has excelled in its first 800 miles in snow, lots of ice, slush and mud, and a 2 hour motorway drive.
For me an outback owner, i drive 5-6 times to the Alps mostly in winter and snow conditions, i choose the outback for the All weel drive system, i don't see anything of an 4 x4 comparison in this review...
At first I was like--who the heck is Keith and why do I care what he thinks? Then at the end I was like-I like this video better than usual and I think I’ll credit Keith. Perfect vid!
You really love your Subaru. Nice car. I had a Ford on a wagon chassis. When they told me it was a "wagon" I protested. What?? No?? But...The sales person said "you want a wagon class because insurance is way less". Then I was happy. That Freestyle was way ahead of its time with a crossover class. It by far was my favorite car till a guy hit me and totaled it.
It is time more comparison reviews break down the old brand barriers. Perhaps the manufacturers don’t like it, but the Volvo isn’t the slam dunk it once was. I am a long-time BMW 3 series touring guy who went to the new Honda CRV touring after similar thinking. The Honda felt fresher, safer and easier to live with. Yes its a CVT and cannot touch BMWs thrilling performance but when you come so close and the margin is plus $25 grand....I am tired of every comparison being BMW vs Mercedes or Honda vs Toyota. So good job identifying that the lines are blurring. Oh, and the chemistry you have with Keith is nice, so keep the duo going if you can. Also a pleasure to enjoy some fab attitude in the mix among the typically macho garage guy talk.
v60 Cross Country all the way... First off you can buy the Plaid Cloth seats, best looking interior at any price with those!! The Volvo is sleeker and clean, the Outback is ugly with all the extra plastic cladding. The Rear lights on the Volvo are nice!! The Thor headlights on the front are Iconic! You can buy a skid plate for the V60 Cross Country also. The Ride Quality and Smoothness of the Cross Country is Luxury all the way and serene as well as some of the best seats and safety in the industry, All surround view Camera option for the Cross Country! Can Spec it this way for 49k... My next Car!
How IN THE FUCK did you answer ALLLLL my questions in this comparison!? I was straight up about to get a VO based on lux but damn the subie lookin like what I NEED!
I promise you 4000 dollars for a speaker package would get you a bunch of goodies going after market hands down. I’m not no audio shop but I know people that make a living at it and what they do concerting new car audio systems is mind blowing.
I think the real issue was the pricing of cross country models because the T5 XC is similar with a T6 V60, the normal V60 T6 beats the outback if the extra ground clearance is ignored, from a pure wagon stand point instead of crossovers.
It’s a tie. Higher maintenance running costs for Volvo (turbo charged 4 cylinder plus all the electronics which fill fail one by one) vs a potential transmission bomb at 65,000 miles. And inferior electronic interface. I suspect the AWD characteristics of the Subaru will be better for inclement weather though the paved road manners of the Volvo probably better. A tie overall.....both are cars for people who hate cars. I might have picked the new v60 if it had the old Ford inline 6 but no they dropped it.
You should often do this type of reviews. Also bringing a person who is a normal user but not a car guy gives another prospective. Also comparing with luxury brand as well which gives a better prospective while buying a common car.
Volvo is definitely for white collar metro person that enjoys art and overpriced cocktails.. Subaru Outback is for a blue collar person that plays outside
I assume this applies to the most current model years and you answered my questions perfectly! I need something for our newborn and haul around our 75lb Collie.
The Pilot Assist is a big deal difference between the two vehicles. The Volvo technology is quite good in this area. The dynamic speed control, the emergency braking, and the auto pilot steering help the driver a lot.
In my opinion, Volvo lost it when they discontinued the 240s. The 240, in its day, was the very best car on the road. Not so today. For the price, I would settle for the Subaru. I believe that Subaru is probably the best brand that comes out of Japan. The Subaru will hold its resale value much better.
Interesting comparison! I also enjoyed the perspective of a somewhat novice reviewer. Overall, the $17k difference between these two vehicles is not justified. This shows how far mainstream companies have come. The Volvo looks a lot better on the outside. Subaru has made an Outback that is less attractive on the exterior than the previous generation, with this iteration. The interior comparison is a lot closer, though, at least on camera. The biggest disappointment for me is that Subaru has not made this generation Outback available with a panoramic sunroof.
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Hope you enjoy this video with our good friend Keith! He was nervous at first but we think he did a great job! Let us know below if you’d like to see Keith in more videos!

I was a huge Subaru guy for 15 years. Owned an STi, a WRX, an old Impreza Wagon, and an Outback XT. Last year I bought a lightly used Volvo V60. There's no competition. The Volvo is on a whole different level and vastly superior in just about every way.
I too have owned both and the Volvo wins hands down. More refined quieter ride, great highway cruiser.
Except its not. It's slower, has 50 percent less cargo, handles for shit in snow, and is made for midgets, OH and for people that like to burn money.

Just from this review, I’d have to pick the Subie. It actually seems fun to drive, especially with the turbo 4.
Volvo V60 all the way. So luxurious
I’m driving an Audi Q5 right now, and shopping the Outback XT Limited when the lease is up - great review, very timely for me!
Why don't you want to buy an audi q5?
@@ТыиЯ-у2ъ I tend to keep my vehicles for a long time - Audi’s tend to get expensive to run once your warranty is up (at least, here in North America they do)
I ended up buying a truck so we could tow a camper, which wasn’t something we had considered at the point I made the comment above!
audi is not that good only they performance Cars ok
Still hoping against hope the 50 mpg Corolla AWD Hybrid wagon will join the battle some day. As it is made in the same Japanese factories that supply our Corolla hatch and Hybrid Sedan, it should not be too much of a stretch for Toyota to load a few on the same ship.
Id be interested in an outback hybrid as well, combined with ev tech, it'd be efficient and quick!!
It's all about the Rav4 Prime. Only masses suburban SUV I have looked forward to.
Wouldn't all this, be so superbly SUUUUUPPPPPERRRRR!?
I agree. An AWD Corolla Hybrid wagon could replace that awful Prius V and legit be a car that I’d consider
Volvo💪
I’m glad you called out the Harman audio system in the Subaru. I bought an Ascent Toruing last year with the premium audio without hearing it before buying. I wasn’t expecting much, because, well, Subaru hasn’t had the greatest reputation on audio quality from past models. I was beyond pleasantly surprised when I took that first drive and fed it some quality tracks over CarPlay, it’s a damn good system and while it won’t touch the ultra high end stuff as this video notes, it’s far better than all the base luxury systems on the market. Go Subaru.
I love my 2018 outback. I changed my 2017 Tacoma for my outback.
How's the drive of the Outback? I've driven once and it feels tight and nice turn ratio. Doesn't feel like a suv or truck.
so this lineatronic cvt.
i am hearing subaru is having issues with it long term.
even having to extend the warranty for all owners.
true?
Loved this style of vid.
Volvo for me ....that cvt will be the death of me...also damn even with my Bluetooth speaker I can hear the Volvo sound system is awesome
Y’all are funny! Thanks for the comparison. I thought about the V60 CC for a hot second, but not for that price difference and less space!
Love Keith! Really into this style of video!
But the sound of the 5 cyl on the previous gen v60cc... even if it was designed in 2010... it’s just amazing
Actually I cant imagine the Subaru being able to do much more then the Volvo offroad considering the Subaru's CVT transmission
Subaru Outback all the way, maybe cause I have one!
(Diesel here in Italy)
In 2 years they'll be equal in value...( I've had both).. Subie for the win
@Jonathan Losito who does lol
They didn't mention it because Subaru solved most of the headgasket issues back in like 2009.
You're just full or horse manure, that's why.
I think all cars should have the option for bowers and wilkins sound system, is a must have.
the first time i saw this comparison i thought you guys were being completely bias but in the past two weeks i have been able to test drive both of these and you are spot on. the new outback xt's are a bargain if you don't care about the name or sleeker looks.
Even the Forester is wagonish. The Ascent is an SUV but it is also more of a crossover, looking like a large Outback/Forester merge.
Some thoughts:
Volvo hands down, y’all Volvo haters 🥱. Good video tho, Nice to have 2 people
You two should do more reviews together - I totally enjoyed that format !!!
No one need the XC.....you arę wrony. I need. Many of us who want more ground clearance for our trips to the forest, etc.
Volvo hands down. Everyone has an Outback, few will ever own a V60, which is a true wagon, and not a jacked crossover.
Which one is quieter when you drive it?
Nice review. I really love the new Volvos so this was fun to watch.
great job guys. i grew up with volvos but have owned subarus as an adult. i love both. maybe its because I'm in my 40's now but i am leaning volvo. the v60 cc is just so damn beautiful. inside and out. the bw sound system and the large moon roof has me hooked. however economic downturns make the outback look very reasonable.
Keith has a fresh take - def want to see him in more videos!
Great video! All these comparisons, experiences, and feelings are what exactly I want to know. Thank you and your assistant.
Great video! Really liked the way you did this video with another persons input! Way to keep up and keep your channel fresh! :)
Look forward to
some behind the scenes people and process... (well a little of the process... you don't have to give away secrets).
sirluke7 Great idea! We’ll see about putting something together like that soon.
Ya but most audi dealerships now charge 20 percent over msrp, way to kill a brand long term with shifty dealerships.
Why oh why did Volvo drop the T6 for this last year for the V60 CC?
I drove these two and the Buick Regal wagon and ended up with the Volvo. I had only a few options and paid a hair under 40 out the door ( mine was the regular wagon not XC). Those comments at the end of the video about the Subaru being more reliable doesn't wash with me and many other people I know who have driven Subaru.
Love your content Redline Reviews, you inspired me to start my own youtube channel.
Thank you for motivation.
The more expensive luxury car doesn’t have paddles because they know it’s a waste and a joke. No one uses paddle shifters except for as a toy or a supercar
_9:01__ "As this one sits, it weighs about the same as the Subaru actually; a little over 4000 lbs. They are within a 100 lbs of each other" -- Sofyan Bey_
- Subaru 3885 lbs (@8:20)
- Volvo 4202 lbs (@8:40)
- Difference (4202 - 3884) = 318 lbs
@Sofyan Bey, how did you arrive at 100 lbs?
EXACTLY! That's two small adults and will definitely affect the Volvo's performance negatively in this comparison test.
OK, this needs to be a new recurring segment! Bringing in a drivers first impression of the car and giving information on the side. You got something going on here no other channels doing! 😆
If you have the money buy the Volvo. Just because they are wagons doesn’t mean they are comparable.
Your car reviews are the best & fun to watch 👍🙏
Visually, the Subaru interior just looks more fun and actually more high tech to me.
For me an outback owner, i drive 5-6 times to the Alps mostly in winter and snow conditions, i choose the outback for the All weel drive system, i don't see anything of an 4 x4 comparison in this review...
Did Sofyau recruit Keith to "give it the beans" because his points are maxed? :) Great video! I liked Keith's input.
Yeah, I'd rather Sarah (Saraha-n-Tuned) give it the *official beans and penguin* ratings.
At first I was like--who the heck is Keith and why do I care what he thinks? Then at the end I was like-I like this video better than usual and I think I’ll credit Keith. Perfect vid!
Subaru wins this contest
I always enjoy your videos and have been a long time subscriber. Had no idea you were also in the DMV!! great to have you in the community!
The only offroading i see that Volvo doing is taking the service road to the Barnyard wedding your friend invited you to😂
I think the real issue was the pricing of cross country models because the T5 XC is similar with a T6 V60, the normal V60 T6 beats the outback if the extra ground clearance is ignored, from a pure wagon stand point instead of crossovers.
We need more sporty wagons in America!!
Did you know Ford made an estate version of the Fusion? It’s really nice looking. Oh and I agree; wagons rock.
AMG E 63 S Wagon its inane.
I would much rather have the Volvo the Subaru is ok but the Volvo is much classier.
Subaru 👍🏻
Great Channel. From UK 🇬🇧🇺🇸
If I had to pick one of these it would easily be the Volvo just from the outside looks
Right cause I drive with the 360 camera on just to see how "cool" I look. Who's the real Karen here.
Wouldn't the Impreza hatchback or Crosstrek be a more suitable comparison to the V60 CC?
Subaru Outback 😍😍💪💪👍👍
Good review. Nice way to mix it up from another point of view. I am thinking of trading in for the Outback from a 07 Yaris Sedan.
What an enormous upgrade. The Yaris feels like a tin can. The power will also feel meteoric.
Given the pricing in the U.S.. outback seems like a better choice?
I have enjoyed this review very much. I can't decide between those two cars. Get Keith more often.
Volvo's Exterior styling wins by smidge. Only the Subarus grill isn't so refined to me.
Subarus side glass graphic and chrome trim is really elegant
In my opinion, Volvo lost it when they discontinued the 240s. The 240, in its day, was the very best car on the road. Not so today. For the price, I would settle for the Subaru. I believe that Subaru is probably the best brand that comes out of Japan. The Subaru will hold its resale value much better.
Sofyan, just quick question i own a RDX Aspec 2020 and just curious how is that Volvo sound system compared to my car? thanks
