I bought my first Hamilton a long time ago. Then I sold it and I've been trying to get that one back for a long time. My wife says "you have 10 watches with black dials quit obsessing" . I explained it's like a first girlfriend , you never forget it. I probably shouldn't have said that , considering my wife is DEFINITELY NOT my first girlfriend. it's gonna be an expensive Valentines day trying to dig my way out of this one. thanks for keeping up the videos of affordable watches,
Uhh - trouble indeed😂😂😂 When you have required the watch don’t tell her it’s the one reminding you of that first girlfriend. Your wife will hate that Hamilton...
I got rid of the Hamilton. For my job it was a little too “nice”. Too polished. So I sold it and ended up with a medium GSAR from marathon. I’ve had the marathon for 3 months now and it’s been great
I’ve been traveling through SE Asia for nine months with my 38mm Khaki Automatic as my travel companion. It’s rugged, versatile, and accurate. It’s flawlessly handled everything from long, bumpy motorbike rides across northern Vietnam, to snorkeling with sea turtles in the islands of Bali. A few weeks ago, I was lucky enough to stumble upon a Black Bay 58 at an AD in Bangkok. I couldn’t pass it up, it’s incredible. But my Hamilton will forever be my first Swiss made, automatic watch, with so many amazing stories to go along with it. I’d recommend it to anybody.
A bit late here but I've had mine for roughly 6 years now. I'm an avid outdoor person and I usually always have it with me. I've taken it on top of almost every California 14er, it's been on my wrist in -22 F weather, in the blackest night on top of mountains in snow and ice the lume has been bright enough to tell time. It's handled the aggressive rock at Joshua Tree and taken beatings from it fine. I usually have a Garmin on my right wrist and the Hamilton on my left. Having it there gives me comfort, knowing it will not fail me. It really holds a very special place in my heart. After 6 years and one service (last year 2020) it keeps time just fine. Still running about 8 seconds slow just like when I bought it new, which is fine with me.
I am in the first week of owning my Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic, and it is my favourite watch so far. I have had it 4 days now. The accuracy of the H10 movement is amazing, i'm getting +1.3 s/d average. I have only really started my collection since the lockdown, I have been watching your videos which I love, and have learned so much. I am fast become very addicted to collecting, I originally had the Seiko Orange and Monsters, but now have a collection of nine. Keep up the great work TGV, I wish you all the best, from a 64 year old Royal Navy Veteran.
I got this exact watch for my son. He was 17 last week. He loves the watch, and has a strong interest in military history. I just shared this video with him, I am sure he will enjoy learning more about his first automatic watch and the history of Hamilton.
There's a great "Hamilton" scene in the classic 1954 film noir, Crime Wave, where the bank robbers each check their watches. Each watch shot is an extreme close up, and they are all wearing different style Hamilton watches.
Random fun product placement fact: Apple doesn't allow villains to be seen using their phones in movies. (they don't want the association with bad guys) i mention it since you said robbers are wearing the watches
I wore a Hamilton Field Khaki for my last 4 of my 25-year, US military career. It was the watch that really brought me back to the mechanical watch world ... along with discovering your channel sir. It's still in and will remain in my collection.
My father was given a Hamilton electric for 25 years of service with Bell South. It is a very interesting movement before quartz and tuning fork. I still have the watch and my father has been gone a long time, but I think of him whenever I see his wonderful old watch.

Thank you for helping me to decide on my first mechanical/automatic. I have look at so many styles and manufacturers and price range and I keep coming back to this video. You just keep on doing what your doing. Thanks again.
The Khaki Field is my favorite line by Hamilton. I have what is essentially the quartz version of this watch (ref. H68411133), as I wanted a reliable quartz watch in my collection that I always know will be accurate. And it only gains like 1 second every 2 months so it’s awesome. It’s also a sand blasted case, which is a great look for this style of watch!
This was perfect timing!! I was shopping Hamiltons and really looking at the movements that offered the 80 hour reserve! I hadn't considered the Khaki Auto because static photos didn't do them justice. This review has changed my mind and now I'm considering this very model in my decision making process. Many thanks, TGV!!
I was born and raised in Lancaster, PA, and my great-grandfather worked at Hamilton. My father inherited my great-grandfather's retirement gold watch; my younger brother and I both inherited the family DNA for an affinity for automatic and mechanical watches. Many fond memories of our father sharing his passion for watches. Great review of an iconic watch from Hamilton.
Superb review. Of this field watch and the background of Hamilton. I also grew up not far from Lancaster and have a family friend who worked there and later started his own watch brand also based close by in an old converted bank, which I believe is the only US manufacturer making their own movements. I also remember saving up to buy that Pulsar watch and felt so futuristic watching people marvel at its "high tech" functioning. Anyway, your reviews embody the class and old world respect for quality. You must have an old soul. My daily wear has been a Rolex Explorer II for the last 24 years and I frankly almost never take it off, even showering and sleeping with it! That's why I bought it originally; to wear it in every scenario without worry. I was intrigued that some people were calling this Hamilton the blue collar Explorer, referring mostly to the Rolex Explorer I. Not in a demeaning way, but to highlight its durability, history and relative quality. I've always liked larger format watches so was favoring the Murph from Hamilton at 42mm but am torn, though your review is making me lean toward this smaller incarnation. Thanks for handling your reviews in such an elegant reverence. Wishing you continued success.
I was deciding between this and the Seiko 5 SNK809, I went with the Seiko, I love the Seiko more and more every day I wear it so I'll definitely have to get this next, what a beautiful watch.
I really want to add that but have stalled on it for being too samey already have the khaki 38 on black strap. Didnt know about the seiko until after i purchased the hamilton. Ordered the newer larger snk flieger cream face last month on the metal strap and was upset at the sheer bulkiness and chintzyness of it side by side with my khaki 38. I will say the build quality and style was good and it pissed me off having to return it. Way too thick for something that had a dressy strap. Going to get the green one on the natoesque style. I can tolerate that being a bit larger as it has a more tool look to it. I do still want to snap up the older more basic snk though before they are no longer on sale anywhere. Might get the blue one?
I'm subscribed too many different you tube channels across many different genres but your channel and its narrative is simply sublime and completely authentic
I have this watch and I can tell you that the enlarged crown is great! I wish more manufacturers would do this. Pulling the crown out to adjust the time/date is much easier than it is with a smaller crown.
So nice to see an overview of the Hamilton history. This kind of heritage is so important and it really speaks to the quality of your channel that you're taking the time to explain it here. I'd like to see more in depth heritage from you. Maybe even some visits to important places or interviews with old timers from the industry. Keep up the good work!
I've had this watch for 3 years now. It's my first and only mechanical watch and I love it! Being an evolution of Hamilton's classic military field watches, it's so sturdily built that I never have to worry about it. But it's also has some subtle elegance and flair that you can dress it up. I went to my college graduation with this watch. At a glance you could've mistaken it for a dress watch!
After watching Jack Ryan Season 2 and noticed that he was sporting a Hamilton Khaki Field Watch... The Urban Gentry Gent was the first person I thought of.
Great video TGV. Not to many cover Hamilton watches. I'd like to see you review the Hamilton Navy Pioneer Chronograph, i don't think anybody has yet. Pure class man.
I trust your views as much as anyone! I purchased my Alpinist, Nighthawk, Sarb033 and now Hamilton thanks to your reviews. You never steer us in the wrong direction.
A perfect candidate for a one Watch collection. I’d say that review came off more classic than old school. You don’t miss a beat on the old style. Perfect
I own this watch as well and I have a couple of comments: 1) I have yet to see a picture on-line or a video that does this watch justice. There is just something about the design that doesn't lend itself to show off how lovely it is in real life when anyone tries to photograph it. Hamilton did a bang up job making an understated dial that is a real treasure to look at when you study it on your wrist. 2) I've seen a lot of reviews of this watch complaining about the strap being too stiff. I'll admit it does feel stiff when you first put it on, but like a good pair of leather boots it does break in over time and now I find it to be one of the most comfortable straps I have of any watch at any price point. It took about a month of very regular wear to get to that point. So yeah, I'll have to agree that this is one of the best daily wear watches money can buy. It looks great, it can be easily dressed up or dressed down, and the quality is clearly there in terms of materials and presentation. I own over twenty watches (why!!? who knows!!!) and this one is easily in my top three.
My wife gave me one of these for Christmas a few years ago. To this day, it’s one of my faves, despite having “higher end” pieces in my collection. You just can’t beat it...
Bought this watch on a kind of whim, and let me tell you it has not left my wrist in 6 months now. Keeps impeccable time, and extremely versatile. 11/10
I am about a week beyond the delivery date of this watch and I positively adore it. I did have the Khaki Mechanical for a time but sold it for two reasons: the all-matte finish and 9mm height. This model’s brushed case and polished bezel makes it far more versatile as an everyday piece, imo. It is a true field watch that can dress up a bit for the office. Add to that the increase in height to 11mm and base ETA 2824-2 with an incredible 80-hour reserve and you do have a damn near perfect everyday, swiss-made jewel of a watch. I picked mine up new for $349. A complete no-brainer. This Hammy will be one of a select few of my ‘never flip’ watches. I’m heading to Montana in mid-March for a week of fly-fishing. This will be the only piece I take on that trip. Love the 100m resist! What an altogether satisfying watch. Great review, as always.
The brown strap is 150 less right now on Amazon. With my hair color I do brown better but I like black more. I'll probably dress it down with a nato for more casual events, can always grab a black strap later.
What a delightful surprise to see this on my subscription feed! This gem of a watch has been dutifully strapped to my wrist nearly every day for years now. I absolutely love it and I'm sure I'll continue to wear it for years to come.
this is the 1st video i'm watching on HAMILTON......you finally made my thought to pull the trigger on this WATCH. I appreciate the way the history explained.👍
Great watch, my personal pref is the Hamilton Khaki Field II (aka Khaki King II), only draw back is the lack of half links / sufficient micro adjusts to make it fit “just” right.
Thank you! Love my quartz Jazzmaster with silver dial/black padded leather strap. Been through 5 Rolex’ but this is now one of my favorites besides my IWC Aquatimer 3548 silicone strap. Hamilton truly makes an absolutely AMAZING timepiece I agree, with distinct pedigree to boot! Thanks again.
bought this watch today , I had a few choices between tissot and a couple other Hamiltons, but this was the one that called out and I'm really glad I bought it . loved the indepth review since the shop assistant couldn't tell me anything about the movement
I had been interested in this Hamilton for a while. Purchased the 42mm version of this watch after watching this. Love the versatility. Always appreciate your views TGV.
I have to be honest and say that the watch featured is hitting all of my "like" buttons. From the overall size to the design, it is nearly perfect as an everyday watch.
At four bones, this watch is the deal of the century! If it were two or even three times that price, I'd say the same thing. Seriously, just get one. I promise you will be glad you did!
Readable, pop of color, dress up/down, perfect sizing all around with a respectable movement and classic but modern style? Yeah, this is my next watch. Affordable enough to call a ‘beater’ watch, but beautiful enough to draw a glance. Thanks for this! And yeah....those black dials. I swore my next would be a blue dial. Looked at the Hamilton Jazzmaster in blue, but then saw this. Oh well, the blue can wait. .....maybe a blue leather strap! :)
My father-in-law’s parents gave him a Hamilton when he graduated from high school in 1951. When he died last year I discovered it had an inscription, which neither my wife nor her mother knew. It is a handsome watch. I had it cleaned, polished, lubricated, and polished, and now it looks great again. It must have been an expensive purchase for them, as they were small farmers and not well off at all. I have a Pulsar from 1984 I bought when I passed the bar exam. Sad that both are now foreign owned.
I have quite a few Swiss automatic watches including this Hamilton but my affordable Glycine Combat ($300 from Costco) has been getting its share of wrist time.
I couldn’t resist just interrupting this to have a look on Amazon Prime, and yes it is there! £388 :I am now in a quandary as I wonder how can I justify yet another watch.
Nice review! Hamilton Murph is my every day watch and I love it! Such a beautiful design. A bit more money but well worth every penny. Hoping to see it on your channel at some point:)
My first watch was a Hamilton Khaki King Pilot 38mm. It’s great timepiece and I feel connected to aviation history when I wear it. TGV, hats off to you sir for the splendid video!
I bought this probably a little over a month ago in the 42mm version. It’s my first auto (although I’ve had many quartz watches over the years) but I love this watch! I wear it on a black and gray striped NATO similar to what you have here, and I use the brown leather that came on it when I’m wearing a button-up, polo or sweater, that’s about as dressed up as I get. The NATO works good with hoodies, t-shirts and such, now I want an auto diver of some kind, I’m leaning towards an Orient Mako USA II.
Great review TGV. I bought mine 2 years ago to replace my trusty (but worn out) Swiss Army. This was my first introduction to automatic watches. I simply love this watch and it is my EDC! I've since added a Orient Star Classic as my affordable dress watch, and a Citizen Eco-drive "beater" for the weekend fly fishing trips. Keep up with the good work!
Just got this watch in after watching your video a few weeks ago, albeit in 42mm ( 7 3/8" wrist). Just my second watch after the Orient Kamasu and I am absolutely overjoyed with it. Awesome video, best channel on YT for people new to the watch game imho. Thanks!
Just looking at the date of the upload. I was in Vang Vieng Laos when you did this video. I thought really hard about what watch to bring with me since travel is such a luxury for me. I brought a Citizen field Eco Drive, and a Timex Weekender. I'd love to take this Hamilton with me when I return!
I'm very happy with my Hamilton Jazzmaster Viewmatic Skeleton. A skeleton is not to everyone's taste, but this one is gorgeous with great attention to detail, such as the polished beveled edges on the lugs, to name but one feature. The sapphire crystal makes everything pop visually. At a 40 mm case size, it's something that would fit your "skinny wrists" well.
Love this watch! Wearing it for a year now - such a versatile one! Put it on a black leather strap - great for a suit in the office, exchange it to a rugged khaki nato - and you are good to go for a hike in the jungle. Really - the only watch you'll ever need if you cannot afford the Explorer.
I love this watch, and one day, I will add one to the collection. You know, sometimes, rushing after and saving for some higher end pieces, deprive some of us, from all the fun, piece such as this, could bring to us.
I bought this watch for my father. Blue dial on bracelet. I'm always amazed about something in the dial that impress me considering the price range. Now that you mention, the print is so precise and crisp. That is the reason I'm impressed with this watch.
My fiance bought me the 2018 field mechanical for my birthday. She knew i was a War History buff, she got me my perfect watch that i wear 24/7 everywhere. Love Hamilton so much. And its Swiss Made!
I bought this on Amazon after seeing this review, I've been thinking about Hamilton watches for awhile now. But I also recently bought a Vaer A5 automatic, and I love it. Similar in looks to a Hamilton field khaki without looking like an attempt to copy a classic. Give it a look, it's by an American independent company.
Defenetly one of the best watch reviewer on TH-cam. Thanks to your video I found my next field watch, obviesly with a NATO strap instead of the leather strap.
I just started really getting into watches, bought my first automatic - a Hamilton Khaki Day Date Pilot. I am stunned every time I look at it but I think I’ve really discovered my affinity for Field Watches. Been looking at your channel quite a bit recently and I’ve learned a lot. I would love to see what you think about the new 2021 re-edition of the DTU2A/P Benrus Field Watch. Keep up the great content! Thanks!
I just bought this 38mm Hamilton watch last week with the brown leather strap from Macy's using friends and family discount for $450 out the door. I couldn't be happier. Thank you, TGV, for all the wonderful work you do. Its obviously more value than the watch that I just purchased as I continue to watch your channel. Cheers.
Hi TGV,, love your channel. Especially when you discuss Hamilton. You're the reason I have my Hamilton Pilot Day Date Automatic from Interstellar and I absolutely love it. Onwards and upwards!
I was really thinking on buying the Khaki as my first automatic watch. Was wondering between the black leather strap or the brown... After watching this video, you sold me the black one. It's just looks amazing. Great content!
I've heard quite a bit of negative feedback about this piece related to moisture getting into the case. Does anyone know if the newer H10 movement has solved any of these issues? It's been my only gripe holding me back from taking the plunge, as there are quite a few posts floating around about issues people have.
A lot of requests for the Jazzmaster here but I'd like to see you feature the Ventura, quite a different watch from anything you have ever reviewed. I've had one since the mid-90s and it's quite an experience to wear.
I love the contrast between the sunburst and track on the dial. And the fun dash of red on the seconds. Does this version, with this dial, come in white??
I just received my first Hamilton on my birthday this year. I haven't yet gotten properly acquainted with the timepiece but can already appreciate it's quality.
Great video! Would love your opinion on this other Hamilton I'm eyeing, H38511733, for $300. I like the simplicity but I also like the timelessness of yours. Cant decide and I can't find any actual review videos of mine
TGV, just wanted to say that in 18 months due to your passion. I've gone from 2 Vincero watches to a Seiko 5. Now i have Seiko, Oris , Bremont and Grand Seiko in my collection :) but more importantly its become an obsessive hobby of mine just learning about watches
Wonderful and so inspiring to hear, thank you so much Hammal! Enjoy the journey and I love your choices, so cool. Onwards and upwards my friend. Best regards, TGV
This is a watch that helped kick-start my infatuation and obsession with mechanical watches, along with an SKX. Still have it, still love it. Thanks for your great review of this very appreciated personal timepiece.
I love mine, have had it for almost a year. It’s currently on an olive green NATO, which to me really brings out the field look of it. It’ll stay a permanent member of my collection. Awesome video!
I just bought this same watch a couple weeks ago. Love how slim and surprisingly versatile it is. I feel like it works best on the brown strap. I got the older version with the 2824 movement which is a great performer. I prefer the smooth sweep and easy regulation over the long power reserve. I saw in an older video you said something about having reviewed the Tissot Le Locle in the past but I can’t find it. Any chance you can get one of those under the camera?
After watching every review on TH-cam and mostly being sold on your personal enthusiasm for the watch and brand, I am getting one. Mint condition, 300$ canadian dollars, WOW what a deal!!!
Great review. I have a few Hamilton's in my collection and this one is a distinct favorite of mine. It is possibly the favorite of my collection-so simple, function and subtly elegant at the same time. And pairs exceedingly well with a large variety of straps. I recommend getting it on the bracelet however, and then go from there! Amazing watch that I never tire looking at.
My mother was wondering what see could buy me for the 50th birthday, I watched your video and like a light buld coming on, the answer was in front me, thanks for an excellent review, the watch will be purchased tomorrow, an excellent addition to my growing collection 👍
I actually inherited a 50s Hamilton from my great grandfather. I believe it's called the Rotomatic. 18k gold case, silver dial, 35mm case. Really looking forward to getting that one running and wearing it on a leather strap as my dress watch.
Thanks for another great segment! Being a field and military watch fan I'm a Hamilton fan too. My latest is the Khaki Field Mechanical H694090 which is the spitting image of my Mil-W-46374B, albeit larger.
i truly love your channel! its help me so much when i looking for new watches to add to my collection! And thank you for giving us so much background for so many brands as you do. just keep up the good work!! thanks from Sweden!
Great show thank you. I cannot manage to find any photo of GI's wearing their Hamilton (46374B 1975-1983) on the field or elsewhere. Maybe I haven't googled enough but as far as I can see it is really difficult to find.

Good luck getting out of it lol

جا
I've had this watch for 3 years now. It's my first and only mechanical watch and I love it! Being an evolution of Hamilton's classic military field watches, it's so sturdily built that I never have to worry about it. But it's also has some subtle elegance and flair that you can dress it up. I went to my college graduation with this watch. At a glance you could've mistaken it for a dress watch!
After watching Jack Ryan Season 2 and noticed that he was sporting a Hamilton Khaki Field Watch... The Urban Gentry Gent was the first person I thought of.
There's a scene where jack is washing his hands and the crown is completely unscrewed and open. I almost lost my mind.
Where is the most reputable place to order a Hamilton
Finally, have this exact watch and absolutely love it.
Great video TGV. Not to many cover Hamilton watches.
I'd like to see you review the Hamilton Navy Pioneer Chronograph, i don't think anybody has yet. Pure class man.
Took delivery of my first Hamilton yesterday, 42mm Khaki automatic, bought purely off the back of this excellent review. It’s a great watch
Glad to see this piece get more of the attention it deserves. Insane value for the tech and quality included. Mine has been running at +1s/day.
Does this model have 80 power reserve?
I got this exact model based on this in depth review. Thank you for all the information. My first “expensive” watch and I’m hooked.
I've just bought this today and looks brilliant...feels great aswell...it caught my eye out of all the Hamilton watches behind the shop glass...
this is the 1st video i'm watching on HAMILTON......you finally made my thought to pull the trigger on this WATCH. I appreciate the way the history explained.👍
Great watch, my personal pref is the Hamilton Khaki Field II (aka Khaki King II), only draw back is the lack of half links / sufficient micro adjusts to make it fit “just” right.
Hamilton are awesome for what you paying for. Love the red tip on the seconds hand!
Don’t take this the wrong way but I have a very hard time sleeping, and listening to your commentary is very soothing. Helps a lot.
I have an black Khaki Titanium , and I love it. Very happy to see you talk so good about Hamilton . Keep up TGV !
Did you know Glycine is owned by Invicta now?
I couldn’t resist just interrupting this to have a look on Amazon Prime, and yes it is there! £388 :I am now in a quandary as I wonder how can I justify yet another watch.
Nice review! Hamilton Murph is my every day watch and I love it! Such a beautiful design. A bit more money but well worth every penny. Hoping to see it on your channel at some point:)
Beautiful watch im guessing you have a solid wrist.
I bought this same one a year ago and absolutely love it! And as always, a great review, thank you!
You just selected my next two additions to my collection. The Khaki and the Venturi. Great Vid great info. Thanks!
The Hamilton H70455133 (this watch on the bracelet) has been my daily wearer for about 2 years. It's a great piece. Enjoyed the video, TGV!
I've discovered your channel and I will comment again: Your intros are ridiculously good.
Out of all the watch channels out there, I love yours the most Gentry.
TGV, if you need to choose one between this Hamilton or the original Benrus, which one would you choose??
Ityik to copy a classic when it from your heritage not another watch maker
American Vet here, and that intro crushed it. Nice One TGV!
Firstly and most importantly, thank you for your service.
Secondly, thank you for the compliment.
Onwards and upwards,
Best regards,
TGV
Cheers.
That seems like A very good price!
Hi TGV,, love your channel. Especially when you discuss Hamilton. You're the reason I have my Hamilton Pilot Day Date Automatic from Interstellar and I absolutely love it. Onwards and upwards!
Another superb intro. Brilliant. This may have risen to the top of my next buy list. Love this watch.
The new watches with the h10 movement so not have the water intrusion problem.
A lot of requests for the Jazzmaster here but I'd like to see you feature the Ventura, quite a different watch from anything you have ever reviewed. I've had one since the mid-90s and it's quite an experience to wear.
Excellent idea, I would love to make that happen in 2020,
Thank you and enjoy your Ventura.
Best regards,
TGV
This watch has been at the top of my list for a while. You lit the fire that made me pull the trigger, TGV! I'm excited!
Best regards,
TGV
The background music during the "history" section of this video is so relaxing.
Totally agree, I have this one and the diver version, both solid watches.
After watching every review on TH-cam and mostly being sold on your personal enthusiasm for the watch and brand, I am getting one. Mint condition, 300$ canadian dollars, WOW what a deal!!!
This was my first decent mechanical watch, its a superb gateway into the hobby.
Intro kicks butt of basically any watch ad 💪🙏
Me: I really can't afford another watch
Me later: Ooh cool field watch in the thumbnail
Me now: Damn it I have to have it
Great review.
Nice review! I bought this watch on bracelet for my son and he absolutely loves its versatility. Thanks TGV!
The first 30 seconds of this video could be an amazing tv commercial for Hamilton. Just got mine on the steel bracelet a week ago and love it!
Lovely review - I have the 42mm and its my most worn watch. Everyday all rounder and an absolute strap monster.
GREAT opening video montage! This Hamilton is one of favorite automatics in recent years. Such a clean, readable and functional face!
Great show thank you. I cannot manage to find any photo of GI's wearing their Hamilton (46374B 1975-1983) on the field or elsewhere. Maybe I haven't googled enough but as far as I can see it is really difficult to find.
