I have the quartz, mechanical, and king auto. I wear one to work, one in the field, and one in public. One the rare occasion, I wear a suite, I wear a dress watch from the american classic line. I think they are all great watches.

  • @sylvainpaquette6132

My favourite of the line is the khaki king automatic because of the full day of the week on the top of the screen. It's such a beautiful and versatile watch that work with different band in different situations. I've been using it as a formal and even dress watch from time to time just by matching the band with the outfit.
I wanted the khaki mechanical with the 2801 but it's getting hard to find and instead I went for the marathon general purpose inox mechanical with the same movement. The marathon big advantage over the khaki mechanical is the fantastic tritium lume that make it worth every penny. The marathon is more of a real modern military watch where the khaki mechanical is a little bit of a homage of past hamilton military watch. Either way they are winners and the 2801 is a very simple yet accurate movement. Out of the box I got +1 +2 seconds consistently and that second hand swipe is so smooth.
I don't know if you ever reviewed a marathon watch but I think a gsar or a general purpose should be on your list. Once you get a taste of the tritium lume ... ok ok joking don't put that in your mouth.

Automatic, hands down! I have a Hamilton mens dress watch that my Grandmother gave to my Grandfather on Christmas day in 1948. It's been all around the world with me, and still keeps excellent time. I wanted to add another Hamilton to my collection, and as soon as I saw the Khaki Automatic, I knew that was the one. I'll probably never own a Patek Philippe or an A. Lange & Son, but honestly, this Hamilton is a bargain at twice the price. I am confident that it will still be going strong when my son bequeaths it to his son. And so it goes. If you are in the market for a rugged, reliable, handsome field watch, the Hamilton Khaki Automatic is hard to beat. Buy one -- you'll be glad you did !

Took it on a recent out of country adventure where 50% was spent in cosmopolitan areas and 50% hiking/nature. It works with both blazers and loafers vs backpacks and boots. Also it’s not so showy to be eye candy for potential thieves depending on what part of the world you’re in. Would like to point out that the 38mm auto has long lugs. I have a 6.3 inch wrist and the 47mm lug to lug length is the max I can pull off.

He gets around to the watches at 4:36.
Just snagged the mechanical version on eBay for $300. (Display model, effectively new and unused.) Dark green dial, green strap, a great look for outdoors activities. The sapphire crystal is the big deal here - you want that on any watch you expect will be seeing some abuse, and it's something you rarely get at this price. Accuracy is more than good enough: who needs the time to within a second when you're outdoors?
For handsome dress watches that are similarly bargain-priced for what you get, I think Tissot is far and away the winner. Like the Hamilton, these aren't for watch snobs, they're for people who just want to own an excellent watch that they can wear for decades. (Some people pay this kind of money for garbage "fashion" watches, which is either hilarious or sad, depending on your point of view.)
I have to point out that going from the mechanical's 9 mm to the automatic's 12 mm is an extra 1/3 in thickness. The thinner watch will get whacked a lot less often, and 9 mm is impressively thin for a quality timepiece.

I have both the Seiko SNK 809 and the Hamilton Khaki Automatic, and both are a terrific value for the money. Truth be told, I find myself gravitating toward the Hamilton more and more frequently when it's time to decide what to wear on a given day. My "collection" consists of fourteen timepieces that I have researched thoroughly before buying, and I am happy with all of them. "Collection" is in quotes because the most expensive watch I own was only two thousand dollars, and was a gift from a woman in China. Perhaps some day I will be in a position to afford a Rolex (in which case I would buy something else; never found Rolex watches all that exciting), but until then, I'll continue to shop for bargains, and the Hamilton Khaki Automatic is just such a watch.

This channel would be so much better if it didn’t take 5 minutes to get to the point of the video. Not trying to hate just saying this feels more like a vlog then a watch video

I have the 42mm khaki Titanium that is an automatic with the older ETA higher beat movement. I wish I had the 80 hour power reserve but that sweeping second hand looks so nice.

An automatic watch is a mechanical watch as opposed to a quartz movement.

The new mechanical Hamilton uses the cal. H50 movement, which has a frequency of 21.600 beats per hour and not 28.800. It also has a 80 h power reserve just like the automatic.

I was all set to pull the trigger on the khaki King Day date PVD coated version. Until I started reading some of the reviews on Amazon and whatnot. I don't know if it's their QC or what. The people seem to be saying after a few months of owning them the accuracy gets terrible, and they seem to get water inside them without any heavy exposure. It was a real bummer reading some of these stories people had. About a lot of the Hamilton watches. I totally had my heart set on one of types of hamiltones. There's just too many people reporting condensation on the inside and them being inaccurate after some time owning them. For me to feel comfortable spending that much.😢 It was going to be my first "real watch" I think I'll just stick with my cheapos. If something breaks or goes wrong I'm only out 30 bucks or so. Instead of hundreds for service.

I do like my Hamilton Khaki Auto Titanium. I've had it for over 4 years but had a serious issue about 5 months ago where the crown rusted from the inside. I got it repaired but I wonder about the water resistance rating for these watches.

    I own two - a 2017 Field Mechanical hand-wind-only and a 1978 military-issue Hamilton Field Watch. Both are great.
The '78 has that "vintage" look because it actually is vintage now and the lume on it has faded.
But if I have to go back into the sandbox overseas to hurt people again, I'm taking my G-Shock negative-LCD solar and my Marathon tritium mil-issue mechanical hand-wind that even has tritium on the seconds hand.
The rest of the collection goes into the safety deposit box at the bank.

I know the watch snobs won’t like this but my $130 Bertucci looks just like the $495 Hamilton mechanical. Yep I know it is quartz. However, there are other areas where it beats the Hamilton. First you get titanium instead of basic stainless steel. Also, the Bertucci gives you 200 meters water resistance instead of just 50 meters for the Hamilton. Sure the Hamilton is nice but I’ll stick to with my Bertucci and gladly pocket the $365 I saved.

The automatic for everyday and everywhere: office, home etc.
The manual, for hiking , hunting, fishing. The outdoors.
    So. Well said.
