It was such a perfect day wasnt' it! We beat the crowds as it got busy as we were leaving. Thanks for watching and I hope the rest of your trip was wonderful!
Thank you for such a wonderful tour to Hana. I am so excited to visit Maui virtually. I am going to be more excited to visit it in-person soon in May You are a great positive family!
The Hana Highway is great from a car, but to appreciate it, you're going to have to stop frequently, get out of the car, and in some cases, walk or hike a bit to see things. The highway is beautiful from a car window, but it cuts down on its "worth" in our book if you aren't likely to step outside the car.
You guys are the best! Thank you for all the awesome videos! My girlfriend and I will be going in September for the first time 🤙🏼 Keep up the great content 👍🏼👍🏼
We are coming to Maui/Hawaii for the very first time in May. We are so excited to see all these places in person!!! If you have any suggestions please send me some!

Hey, I really like your videos and we have been following them for our trip to hawaii. I have a small suggestion that would help me (and other folks) immensely who are relatively untrained with the name and location of each place. if you have a small map on one corner of the video, which puts a point on the map for what is being described, it would add next level of understanding for your avid viewers. PS; i got most of the above info from your Website guide and had to have it printed in my hand while watching these videos to visualize the locations! Cheers and keep it up!
Thanks for the suggestion. We do our best to show locations but for some videos, we lead them to our itineraries that have maps and directions included. Have a great trip to Maui and drive safely on the Hana Highway!
Great videos! I can't wait for our Maui trip. Thank you so much for all the informative videos you are sharing. BTW, are there available restrooms along the way on the road to Hana?
Thank you for making such awesome videos! It was encouraging to see your son do the pipiwai trail, is it doable for most children if you take it slower?
It took us 3 hours with him and we carried him a lot since we didn't have our baby carrier. Every child is different but it is walkable with some slippery/muddy spots
Great video! Sorry if I missed it, but I see that cell service doesn't work. But does phone GPS work out there? Or I need to download an app so it's preloaded with guidance?
What's more difficult of a drive, doing the Road to Hana or going to see the sunrise at Haleakala? Would an average driver be comfortable doing either?
Love your videos, you guys changed the game when it came to our first trip to Maui...Did you say the place you stayed in the Westy was a friends or is this a place that is possible to stay at. It looked like it had Camp Parking spot signs..
I have never measured the water temp but I've never been shocked by the temp. It is probably in the 60s. The rain water isn't that cold. See our waterfall swimming video for more info: th-cam.com/video/qRG_p9OQeks/w-d-xo.html
We don’t recommend it but some like that route. There are things to see, get the Shaka app. Watch our video on taking the backside to Hana. Link in the description
We are coming to Maui for the first time in April! So far we’ve only booked flights as we figure out what we are doing. I hear mixed things about which waterfalls to stop at and some being a private property. Do you elaborate on that somewhere? Also- what timeframe is recommended to the Road to Hana? 2 nights?
Here is an article on doing the road to hana in one day, most do it in one day: thehawaiivacationguide.com/road-to-hana-in-one-day/ here are places to stay in Hana for the night, there are not a lot: thehawaiivacationguide.com/where-to-stay-in-hana-maui-for-one-night/ Good question on the waterfalls, we have a video on that as it gets tricky: th-cam.com/video/qRG_p9OQeks/w-d-xo.html
Is there another place along the road to Hana we can park our lil camper overnight you can recommend? I know you said you stayed at your friends place there... Do they have it on VRBO? :)
Hey there! Going to maui in September and we booked a few tour excursions. Do we have to book an additional reservation or pay an additional fee ( bamboo forrest ) as stated in your video to visit some of these places? The tour we booked is called like Road To Hana van tour or something, not sure. ps: love your videos! Really helping me get more and more excited to visit maui!
Thanks for watching! The tour company will take care of that stuff. Wai’anapanapa stat park requires a reservation. That is it. Pipiwai trail is part of Haleakala National Park so THT has an entrance fee
Great itinerary. Enjoyed all the fun things to do.
Thanks for watching! We had fun making this video.

Gotcha I was so confused got a second 😂
Great video like all of your video. I've been to Hawaii many times but always find something new in your video.
thanks! that is great to hear. this video is a classic in my opinion.
1000th like!
Congrats!🎉 that’s pretty cool.
My wife and I saw you guys that day on the Pipiwai Trail. Thanks again for all the great tips!

Incredible video!!!
Thank U for the information and the opportunity to see Maui's tropical side in a personable way.
Thanks for watching!
bought the itinerary, great job on that! i am excited for my July vacation in Maui
thanks so much and have a great trip in July!

Have a wonderful trip Dmitri!
I watched lot of videos Hawaii but did not get such detailed information. Thanks for sharing this.
Amazing road trip in a classic vehicle! Thank you for taking the time to film and upload all this content and awesome tips for us. Great video!
thanks so much for the comment Mike! This one is one of my favorite videos. It was a fun experience.
Jordan! I'm heading to Maui next week with my gf and just watched this video. Love it!!!
It’s one of my favorites. Have a great trip to Maui!
You guys are so fun to watch! Thank you for the information
Love your videos.
thanks for watching. This one is one of my favorites.
You guys are so awesome. Love the detailed videos 😊
Would love to see more food videos when things open up. Especially the best places to get authentic local foods. 🍤 🐷
Tony's Place - Hawaiian owned and operated - open daily - fresh fish and burgers - down by Hamoa Beach
Amazing video
Thanks! it is one of my favorites that doesn't get a lot of views.
Did you guys do the road to Hana one way or turn around at some point? Noticing the mile markers go up and then down on your trip.
Yes, for this trip we went out and came back. Mike markers are easy to navigate but also not. The full road has three different sets of markers.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Good to know. Thanks.

Did that in June 2020. It was so amazing to see the other side of the island.

Thanks for watching! Have a great trip in October

Another great video. I love watching your videos to reminisce and get ideas for our next (8th) trip to Hawaii - hopefully in 2023 🤙🏼
Thanks for watching! Have a great trip in 2023!
Great videos! I can't wait for our Maui trip. Thank you so much for all the informative videos you are sharing. BTW, are there available restrooms along the way on the road to Hana?
Yes, there are a few roadside parks with public restrooms. Have a great trip!
Manual transmission, that would be so fun to drive!
It was! Always makes it an adventure in an old car.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thank you!
So the pipiwai trail is part of Haleakala national park? The entry fee will cover both activities for 3 days?
Correct!
Great video! Sorry if I missed it, but I see that cell service doesn't work.
But does phone GPS work out there? Or I need to download an app so it's preloaded with guidance?
cell phone service works a little out there. GPS on your phone does well with the guide apps in our experience.
What's more difficult of a drive, doing the Road to Hana or going to see the sunrise at Haleakala? Would an average driver be comfortable doing either?
Haleakala sunrise would be harder since early morning and cows can be on the road. You will be tired, it will be dark, and perhaps in a cloud.
going back to Maui in few months, and rented a van from Maui Westy. I cannot wait! are drones typically ok to fly in Maui, especially Hana??
I wouldn't recommend flying if you don't know where to fly legally. Plus, Hana residents are not keen to drones. Have a great trip in the Westy!
Do suggest drive straight to hana and doing the stops going back?
a lot of people do that. You will still get a lot of people at the stops but Hana is lovely in the morning.
Little tip, never swing on a rope that is long underneath you. I had it wrap on me once as I let go and I could be dead if gotten on my neck
That’s a great tip!
Did you have to have a reservation to enter the Waianapanapa park?
Residents don’t but visitors do now. Make it early.
Was the barefoot driving a thing before you moved or is this #11 on becoming local?
#11. Barefoot is easier with a clutch compared to wearing slippers!
Love your videos, you guys changed the game when it came to our first trip to Maui...Did you say the place you stayed in the Westy was a friends or is this a place that is possible to stay at. It looked like it had Camp Parking spot signs..
It was a friends campsite. Email us of interested!
When you swim at the waterfalls, how cold is the water?
I have never measured the water temp but I've never been shocked by the temp. It is probably in the 60s. The rain water isn't that cold. See our waterfall swimming video for more info: th-cam.com/video/qRG_p9OQeks/w-d-xo.html
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Thanks!
Are you recommend start from west to east the opposite side
We don’t recommend it but some like that route. There are things to see, get the Shaka app. Watch our video on taking the backside to Hana. Link in the description
How do we get to the Hana Lava Tubes? Any tips?
Drive to Hana. The lava tube is just before town and a short drive off the Hana Highway, there are signs for it. Check their hours.
Stay in Wailea or kaanapali/Lahaina for first Hawaii trip??
we have an article and video on that! See here: thehawaiivacationguide.com/kaanapali-vs-wailea/

@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide awesome video! Can one just park your camper van along the road or can you recommend some place to book a spot?
great video guys! is the $30 admission fee per car? (for the national park)
yes, $30 per car and is valid for three days
What drone and camera did you use to get that amazing footage? 💖
Is there another place along the road to Hana we can park our lil camper overnight you can recommend? I know you said you stayed at your friends place there... Do they have it on VRBO? :)
You can check hip camp for places to stay! also ask your camper rental company for places to stay.
am I experiencing Deja Vu here.... I thought I saw this a few days ago....???????
I mention it in the top comment, I had to remove the other video to make edits and republish. Oops.
Are the food trucks open or closed on certain days?
check their social media or call them as they all have different hours.
The best food truck in Hana is Tony's Place down by Hamoa - open everyday Fresh fish and burgers - Hawaiian owned and operated
