As of July 2023 Upper Waikana Falls and Hanawi Falls have NO SWIMMING signs posted. The signs state these falls have special cultural significance and need to be preserved. There are other waterfalls that are still open for swimming at Twin Falls and Pua’a Ka’a Falls which both have parking.
haha, that is a large portion of your planning indeed! thanks for watching and enjoy your trip. Don't forget to see our website for the remaining 00.01%
My wife and I just came back from Hawaii and your videos really enhanced our visit. We planned some of the trip before we started watching your videos so we did 3 islands in 10 days..... you were so right....... Too much. Thanks for your help in giving my wife a magical 30th anniversary vacation.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Haha well at least in this instance I'm relieved that my phone was listening in on me. Could you please humor me for a quick question - with COVID and the reviving tourism in Hawaii, is the road to hana as busy as it's always been? Or would you say it's a little easier now to find parking etc?
Loving all your content! We are visiting Maui for the first time in April and looking for some adventure. Your website and video are very helpful. Thanks!!!
Keep up the great videos. Fingers crossed we will be back in Maui at the end of January for a week. Thanks for the updates on what’s open and what to do.
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide Packing now to go home, it has been a great trip with the family and we are sad to see it end!! It was good to see some of our favorites are still open (Ono Kau Kau, Cool Cats and Flatbread) sad to see others closed, but our fingers are crossed that when we come back all will be open!!
New subscriber! I have a travel blog and I need to give Hawaii a second chance. Thinking about bringing my husband and their daughter for the first time in February.
Thx for the itineraries! It would help to add tips about where to park with each stop. Some are obvious, of course, but others... Love watching you all! I just moved here and these vids kept me holding onto the dream!! ❤ Sending Aloha from Momma plus 3 kiddos!
Thanks for watching! We provide parking tips and directions in our itineraries on our website. For Road to Hana, parking is along side the road for 90% of the situations. It is never ideal.
I recently discovered your channel. This video is great. We had a trip planned last September and the road to Hana was on my list but unfortunately got cancelled. Maybe next year! Fingers crossed!
Hi Erica and Jordan, If you had to pick just two of these waterfalls to swim in which one would you pick? Going in October with my 10 yr old granddaughter who can swim. Thanks
Hi there! Thank you for making these videos. We are planning a family trip in a few weeks and they have been very helpful. What would you say the water temp is in the Waterfalls in early November? Should we be bringing wetsuit tops? lol
everyone has a different tolerance but we go in February and the water is fine without a wet suite top. Check the conditions before you can as the water levels have been high with recent rains.
Great video. We are coming to Maui in August 2022 and have been watching a ton of your videos. If you could only stop at 1 of the falls which would it be, Twin Falls or Pua'a Ka'a? We have a 13 year old and accessibility isn't an issue. Your input would be appreciated, thanks!
Great question and I appreciate your research. Pua’a Ka’a is my vote. Go in the afternoon, on the way back for more parking. It is just off the road, public, and legal. Twin falls is great but $10 for parking and includes a walk. Do the lower or upper falls for swimming at Pua’a Ka’a. You can jump off the upper if you know where.
We're heading to Maui in mid-July for our honeymoon! Are visitors allowed to swim in the Pools of ‘Ohe’o (aka Seven Sacred Pools)? Maybe sticking to Twin Falls or Hanawi Falls is safer. Which waterfall do you recommend for swimming if we can only visit one?
You can't swim at 'Ohe'o due to the uncertainty of the flows. The NPS doesn't allow it. Twin Falls is your best bet with their three falls and they have a good idea when it is safe to swim. Plus, their banana bread is some of our favorite on Maui!
This is a great video, thanks for all the tips! I want to do this but seeing that you were having to scale down part of the way on a knotted rope on one of them would be impossible for my bad shoulder. Do you know how I can find out which ones are accessible for folks not in the great physical shape that you two are? Thanks for any suggestions you can offer♡♡♡♡ kisses to Henry♡♡♡
You could make it without using the rope so check it out. Pua'a Ka'a State Park will be your best option but with any waterfall swim, understand the risks and be a good swimmer! thanks for the comment and for watching!
This is kind of a random off-the-wall request, so if it isnt your thing, i totally understand.... can you visit a fabric store that sells Hawaiian fabrics? Maybe just pop in and show a little of the varieties of fabrics and designs and maybe some of the pricing per yard. Not sure what the fabric store will think of it and definitely don't want you to do anything wrong or get yelled at. I very quickly checked out a fabric store kind of close to the airport when i visited Maui about five years ago but cant remember the name. I also would love to see what Walmart has for Hawaiian fabrics and to know how much that cost per yard. In one of your videos you were sort of asking what content people would like to see, so I thought I would throw this out there. lol. If it isn't anything you want to do, I understand and will look forward to whatever you do. I love watching your videos..... I very much appreciate your videos as it is very cold and mostly dark here in Iowa! I get to see the sun sometimes in the morning for about a half hour driving to work... but i work in a hospital so don't really get to see the sun any other time during the day. Then it is completely dark out when i leave work at 5:00 pm. So my mental health break comes at night when i can watch you all on Maui!!!! thank you
Thanks so much for watching. We are glad our videos bring you some sunshine to Iowa this winter. We will see if we can fit a fabric store into one of our videos or community posts. We were thinking of highlighting local stores for the best Hawaii souvenirs. Keep taking those mental breaks to get through the dark winter!
My lady and I will be staying in Lahaina in September. We want to see some amazing falls, but don’t want to travel all the way to Hana, no farther than Haiku. Which of these are located between west maui and Haiku?

The waterfall where it’s a 25ft jump was fun. I jumped as well. Awesome spot

We will be there Nov 6-12th 2021! Can’t wait
I just saw you at twin falls today. Thanks for your videos.
it was a beautiful day at the falls! Wailele Farms has done a great job providing access and their banana bread has even gotten better.
wow youtube did good to recommend me this vid a week ahead of my trip to maui!
The algorithm is creepy at times but helpful! Thanks for watching. I like to compare the ads I get with what Erica sees too.

It’s so cool to see people do the same thing as I did :D
Love you guys!! So helpful!!

Just drove Road to Hana couple days ago, Wailua Iki Hike was our favorite!
Glad you liked it. The length of the hike, the forest, and the waterfalls are just perfect.

Amazing. I just subscribed and can't wait to see more. Where is the cave at 7 minutes 30 seconds?
Thanks for subscribing! The lava cave is at Wai’anapanapa black sand beach.

Okay, you’ve convinced me to come to Maui. I just ordered Tevas for my husband and I. And now I’m thinking of getting a go pro. Lol
haha, a good purchase! I bought some fake Tevas (Jordan here) and my feet got blisters, not cool. Get a GoPro for the memories!
7.26 where is that beach and little cave trail? i loved it!
That is Wai'anapanapa black sand beach, near Hana. A reservation is required now for entrance and parking. It is a great stop.

Should we stay in our suits for the whole road?
we do. You're in Hawaii, stay in your suit for the whole vacation.
Hi Erica and Jordan, If you had to pick just two of these waterfalls to swim in which one would you pick? Going in October with my 10 yr old granddaughter who can swim. Thanks
The two best for kids would be Twin Falls (first pick) and Pua’a Ka’a State Wayside Park

We would love too! We are planning to go there soon.
Is that barbed wire at the entrance to the hike down to Hanawi falls? Are you allowed to go in there?
thanks for the info on the other video I'm definitely gonna rent a car, Thank you!!
Glad that helped. Shop around but Hawaii discount car rental is usually the best rate
Woah! Amazing waterfalls. How is the safety with jumping and swimming in the water? I've never done that before.

Do you guys have a Honolulu guide?
Coming very soon!
We are in Honolulu right now it’s our last night here. So far it’s been amazing!! We definitely want to come back again
How cold is that water ?
it isn't bad at all. Probably in the high 60s to mid 70s.
Wait is there this fruit called mountain apples over there?
Best Maui style chips manufactured in Texas

How deep are some of these waterfalls?
Hello, it depends on the time of year with the water flow but usually 5 to 15 ft deep.
Where is that cave at
Wai’anapanapa State Park
My lady and I will be staying in Lahaina in September. We want to see some amazing falls, but don’t want to travel all the way to Hana, no farther than Haiku. Which of these are located between west maui and Haiku?
Twin Falls is your only option. Just past Haiku
How deep are these falls?
it depends on the season and the depth changes often hence dangerous for jumping. Check before you jump. Usually they are 8 to 12 ft deep.
