Aloha~local kamaaina here...what are the names tour/transportation companies you can recommend for each island... is there any grand circle tour for each island including molokai & lanai?mahalo🤙
Thankful for all your videos as we plan our first trip! I’m hoping you have another video with Hāna & Beyond so we can choose what tour to book with confidence!
Thanks for watching! I’m afraid we don’t! We need to film going out with them. They do the backside. See our Road to Hana mistakes video for backside footage. They use vans, not shuttles. Another difference
Started off this morning with a freezing but amazing Haleakalā Sunrise then conquered the entire Road to Hana and just down at Tiffany’s to eat! Aunt Sandy’s banana bread was incredible. To anyone out there thinking about the itinerary…do it. We have lived off the Oahu and Maui itineraries making our vacation completely stress free.
Aloha! My husband and I have been watching your videos in preparation for our upcoming trip to Maui! We were planning on driving the road to Hana ourselves, but after seeing this video we booked the tour! Thank you for making the most amazing videos, truly the best on TH-cam! Mahalo!
Aloha Nicole! Have a wonderful trip to Maui. I'm glad you found our videos and enjoy the tour with Valley Isle Excursions. I shared your comment with them. Thanks so much for watching!
We booked this tour after watching your video. We even had Travis as our guide. Worth every penny. Thank you for posting this. As a first timer to Maui, I wanted to see Hana but did not want to do the drive myself. I highly recommend to anyone who wants to see Hana without the stressful drive.
My family and I are planning a trip to Maui in March. We haven't been since 2015 so I was looking to see what to do in Maui and stumbled upon your videos. I've watched every single video you have on Maui and purchased your Maui Itinerary as well as booked this tour to Hana. Thank you so much for your amazing videos, they are so informative and fun to watch!
Good stuff! We landed in Maui yesterday and I was wide awake this morning at 4:30 am, lol. We are doing the road to Hana in a couple of days but using the gypsy guide. It’s been 15 years so looking forward to experiencing Maui again. Beach day today and then your recommended Molokini snorkel trip tomorrow. Thanks for putting out all of these awesome videos!
First time we did the RTH we used Shaka Guide. Great app to use for the trip, but this looks way better! If you are prone to carsickness, take your Dramamine the night before and the morning of. Bring your ginger chews to chew on if you feel the slightest bit sick. My wife gets carsick easily, but she was fine the entire trip when she used this method. Aloha!
Aloha from Texas, great video and info. Am considering this route for my visit in nov as I have previously driven it but would like to appreciate the sights more(paying attention to stay safe). No other place like Maui, be well. 🤙
Whoa! Jordan has a stunt double?! or wait... Dad has a stunt double?! Either way, what a fun video. We could not make it all the way for the road to Hana cause of time constraints but next time we might. So much to explore on Maui. Too bad it is the most expensive island to stay at! Ah well. Mahalos for the good stuff!
Awesome. I just did the drive last Sunday. I also stopped at the Maui lava tube, and of course the Pipiwai trail. The guided tour would be awesome to make sure you hit the key spots along the way. For lunch, I stopped at the food trucks in Hana.
I think this tour is great for those who can't drive or don't want to. However, the best way to beat the crowd If you have a group IMO is to drive the reverse road to Hana and reach the National Park to do the pipiwai trail first, the bamboo forest and Waimoku falls is the best waterfall on the path. If you want to hike, take the South path and beat the crowd since nobody can get there except those who crashed in Hana. The normal road to Hana is preferred for those who want better food options.
We did private RtH tour with helicopter way back. Best money spent -expensive but 100% worth it for newbies. Because we got back quick with helicopter we could drive to Paia and explore for rest of day. No worries about reservations to parks either
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide hello! Yes he is! My family and I just had Travis as a tour guide a couple of days ago and he made the day SOOOO fun! Easily the best day of our vacation because of him.
Where is that last beach with all of the sea turtles?! Amazing! My husband and I are heading to Maui and Big Island in February! We have both been to Maui and are returning to Maui with even more knowledge thanks to your family. Big Island will be our first time! Thank you for all the great content!
Why didn't you post this video 2/3 months ago?! My husband & I will be in Maui next week (thanks to your videos 😉) and we've already made arrangements to drive Hana ourselves. So we won't get the amazing guided tour you had, but we are planning on using the Gypsy Guide. 🌴🚗 Just dropping in to say how much I've appreciated your videos. They've been such a huge help in planning our upcoming vacation! I can't thank you enough!! 🌺
We drove to Hana using the GPSy guide in November and it was _great_. Best $10 we've ever spent. Obviously a live guide would be a much more personal experience and added access to private properties you don't have when you go on your own, but we had people with us that required extra covid caution, so we had to stick to DIY. The GPSy app took some of the sting out of missing out on that personal touch. We ended up driving the back-way on the return, which I honestly don't recommend (especially in lower-light conditions), but the narration from the GPSy guide really kept us entertained during the often-barren, lonely stretches. We learned a ton about the history of the islands. I think a lot of the content we heard on that portion of the trip gets inserted if you return from Hana the way you got to Hana, so if you don't take the back way, you're not missing out.
I just returned from my trip to Maui last weekend. I also took the excursion to Hana with Valley Isle. The tour guides are responsible, informative, and helpful! Don’t think about it a book with them and get the discount. I wish I could have taken advantage of the discount!
Your videos were helpful in helping me decide which island to visit for my first trip to Hawaii! I’ll continue watching for nostalgia and to plan my future trips! I fell in love with Maui. Can’t wait to explore the other islands and return to Maui.
Although I realize the premise of this clip is to high-lite a guided tour of the RTH, but I was hoping you would have addressed the concept of driving yourself and doing it backwards, using the secondary road at the end to in essence go against the flow of traffic. Any thoughts on this idea?
We have five other videos on the Road to Hana, including driving the backside of Haleakala. Take a look at our Maui playlist to find our Road to Hana videos.
Wow!!!! Thanks again for sharing more great info for our upcoming trip. Now I’m thinking we’ll change and do this option vs. driving on our own w/Gypsy. Couple of questions, did you all do a dinner stop in Paia? Also are there more stops or was your video exactly what takes place ??
Aloha Eleanor, I like the tour better than apps. They don’t stop for dinner in Paia as after the long day most want to get to the resort. The stops can change but this shows what we did that day.
No one had an issue in our cruiser. If prone to car sickness, take ginger chews and Imodium the night before. It can happen in any vehicle on that road!
Is it possible to go to Hana without stopping at all stops? We’re only there for two days and we want to do it on the day that we arrive but we arrive at 9am :(
Would the government ever do a reservation system for the Road to Hana? Like get a pass that you (tourists only) would need to drive that road. My husband and I just got back from Maui and doing the Road to Hana was the only stressful part of our honeymoon. We left super early, and still couldn't get parking at any of the stops. We even drove by Twin falls 3 times, but it was full. We were able to get a reservation for the sunrise at the National Park, and it was amazing, Not crowded, and it gave us a heads start to the Sliding Sands trail. We actually did the Road to Hana twice. The first time, we drove all the way to the end, to get into the park early (which they let us in at 8:30am), and we hiked the Pipiwai trail all by ourselves. It was beautiful being at the falls with no one there. We wanted more time at stops, so that's why did the Road to Hana again, from the beginning, but with no luck in parking.
Local residents talk about restricting the road or charging a toll but nothing has been proposed or mentioned by the county. It is a public road so I don't know what they could do legally. That is why we now recommend doing a tour, as the road is harder and more complicated to drive now.

how much is this trip?
When they got banana bread that old lady is my grandma 😂
This is great! We’re doing Road to Hana this Monday! Perfect timing!
Perfect! Have a great trip and enjoy the Hana Highway!

Aloha Hernandez, I enjoyed it for those reasons you mentioned. As a driver, it is hard to look out over the cliffs and take it all in.
One more trip to take that you showed us the easy way to do it once we get moved and settled.

Nice! Good way to do it. Thanks for sharing. I’d love to hike pipiwai right now
@@TheHawaiiVacationGuide On Oahu, I did the submarine scooters. You should try them, they were fun!

That the way to go to Hana. Get someone else drive for you. Definitely, I would take this tour next time I am in Maui.🌴😎🤙
Maybe your best video🎉
I went on a tour with Travis in March. He is amazing, made the whole experience really special.
He makes it memorable! thanks for sharing!
The eastside of Maui is one of special places on earth

About what time did you get to the black sand beach? Trying to see what time to take my reservation for?
Travis was just one of my guides for the atv tour through Maui off-road adventures yesterday!
That's awesome! I wonder if he is still doing the Road to Hana tour too?

Awesome video!
Is there certain days that are better to do or not do the road to Hana?
Everyone has their options. Some say Sunday isn’t great as some places are closed or close early. Some say mid week is the best.

All the state parks have entrance fees now?
No, only the ones that were overcrowded or they needed to protect the natural resources.
Did you actually see anything but food stalls?
There are a few restaurants in Hana
ha ha ha, restroom stops are the most important
