TIPS: Anyone can do this but if you're over 40 wear reading glasses. DON'T yank out the small connectors on each end of the PCB daughter board. There is a tiny catch to release - flip up the flap on the opposite side of where it plugs into the socket. Need good lighting. Use your phone camera as a magnifying glass to examine close up if you get stuck. Guitar pick/plectrum worked for me to get the screen off. Buying replacement without the digitiser PCB daughterboard is 25% cheaper and maybe easier - you can harvest the old one off as shown in video but no need to disconnect everything. Instead you need to disconnect the two wide ribbon cable connector clips TCN1&2. Do not force. Look at it close up. The jaws of the connector clip will flip open if you lift the long catch running along the opposite side from where the cable enters. No need to force anything.

My screen just cracked out of the nowhere on the right bottom side. The little plastic stick that helps hold together the ankle to open up the screen just somehow slipped outside and crashed the screen now I'm not sure if it just helps to replace the screen, or if I do so it just might happen again. I'd love to try tho! Thanks for the vid!
For some reason disabling touch in device manager did not work for me - the cursor would still randomly move around due to damage. But all perfect now after screen replacement
I'm trying to separate the screen itself from the frame, and it seems impossible. Do you know of a way to do this? I've got the screen + frame removed from the laptop right in front of me right now, but there is no clear way to remove the intact screen from the cracked frame.

I would recommend opening the bottom of the laptop and disconnect the battery for a minute or two Then with it still disconnected connect up the AC adapter and see if you can power it up

Hi the steps to replace your model of screen would be the same as this video 3rd party screens in laptops is a bit of a myth, most of the time the panels are from one of 4 manufactures. So even buying a Screen and LCD from ebay would highly likely be the same quality anyway as the original screen
Unfortunately while attempting this I stupidly slid the two connectors on the right out without undoing the white part. The screen will not work when my laptop powers on. Have I permanently damaged my device? Can I still go seek repairs?
Bugger, I'm not quite sure which part you are talking about but im guessing the two digitiser flex connectors It should still display tho without them connected Still take it to a computer store, bring your old screen with as well and simply explain what's happened
I didn't bother as you have to open under keyboard area to do that and was fine. Also enables you to test everything works if you power up before final close.

I have a question. It may sound confusing. I have two laptops (Hp pavilion x360 ). One is 6th Gen and the other is 7gen I guess, but both are the same size. The screen of the 7th gen got cracked and the touch doesn't work. Is it possible for me to replace its screen with the screen from the 6th gen (Since my main laptop is the 7th gen). Is it possible to swap their screens?
My only problem is I cannot get the bottom middle to snap in. It looks like the glass is unsticking slightly as well. All the other sides clicked in perfectly though.
I'm pretty sure the bottom slides. Where the other edges click in. So put in the bottom section first and then push the sides working your way to the top

@@rickstechrepairs just got my part and only took me like 14 mins cause i was being careful, there was adhesive on the panel so i thought a clip was stuck, just needed a lil extra force. everything works fine. i probably wouldnt have done it without watching this video to be honest. touch screens can be....... touchy.

There are places that could do it but I wouldn't recommend going down that path, as to get s high quality finish it's going to take some decent equipment and time

I just bought this same laptop for $40 Cracked digitizer LED GOOD.....lol Going to use it for my tv don't need to open with wireless mouse and keyboard. Use it for my pirat um bought movies. ;-)
Taking it apart is the easy part, but let me tell you how it went for me. I order the part from amazon, its hard to fit the screen back into the computers frame. Just be careful

The plastic cover slipping makes me think that a hinge has failed

Couldn't you also turn off the touch function in "device manager" and avoid these two options you mentioned?? Just a thought.

I have attempted frame removal on displays like this and it never has really ended good (usually cracked glass)

Un técnico la reparo internamente y aflojó la bisagra, ahora puedo abrir y cerrar estando fractura. Solo la aflojó y la pego internamente insisto

i dont believe they are interchangeable between models due to the different curving of the glass

I hate doing these types of screens especially ones for HP... Replacing the one for my customer went fine, but honestly hate doing HP...
i dont mind them, but i hate it when you need to route the webcam and sensor cables to the top the screen..
