- Hi everyone, thank you for 25:57 of your time. In this video I restored HP Pavilion G6 that nobody want to use it. The laptop was given to me by the previous owners, otherwise will be trashed. I pick it up and restore it, just to show that this laptop is still useful and not for a trash.
Laptop specs: CPU AMD E2 3000, RAM 8GB DDR3, 240GB SSD.

I still have an HP Pavillion g6 2011 in almost mint condition. It was my first laptop ever and I still use it occasionally as it gives me a sense of nostalgia.
Me too I use it for gaming ....It just needs some ram upgrades and you can even play GTA 5.....At least 8 gb ram upgrade for GTA 5

Можно всё сделать проще... Берем обычный канцелярский скотч, и наклеиваем его на серые элементы корпуса. При отклеивании скотча, на нем остается верхний защитный лаковый слой. После очистки корпуса от лака, серая краска легко смывается обычным изоприловым спиртом. После отмывки корпуса от краски он становится идеально черным, и сохраняется металлический цвет логотипа "HP". После сушки покрываем всё это матовым лаком в несколько слоев. Всё... ;)

This was my first laptop in my home. I still vividly remember trying to install a cracked Minecraft game only to find out that I get 5 fps. And yes, the hinges are very bad in this laptop that one side of mine is broken. The touchpad markings are shockingly similar to my model.

Andrew, I have a request. If you are repairing old laptops which their processor nor RAM is upgradable, turn it into a Google Stadia machine and you can play games without requiring a good processor nor RAM as it uses only a strong 15Mbps to 30Mbps connection. That is one way of reusing old laptops.
This laptop looks like the dude literally put it in the bin. Its quite sad that HE WOULD DO THIS TO A WINDOWS 7 LAPTOP!

Ive got a old Laptop lying around here since a few years and I cant be bothered to fix it. You want it Andrew? Its got an Intel i3 and whatever. You can have it for free.
I don't see how that laptop kept going with the dust in that fan - wow - seems like it would over heat all the time - that fan was very dirty
Hi. I would love to see you restore some forgotten old netbooks (intel atom netbooks) from asus or acer as well..
They are really common on students when i was in college and i would be so happy to see a restoration about them..

This is a really good job. One last upgrade would be a cpu upgrade since it is not a BGA one
You should have just wet sanded the black paint with 2000 gritt papper then polished it with automotive polish and electric polisher. Would have looked great in piano black.
I've repaired 100`s of these.. They where part of a student program where they would get laptops from the school.. Most of them died because of the WD3200BEVT HDD`s they came with.. They nearly all died.

Don't know if it's any help but instead of using razors and potentially damaging chemicals on those plastics you can get some stuff called goo gone. I use it myself on plastics and it works pretty great, it's not cheap but definitely worth it.

What a great restoration. I have a Dell laptop that really needs some repairs. It doesn’t hold a battery charge for very long. It has display hinge issues. The top case is separated a decent amount from itself. It’s affecting the computer turning on. I was wondering if you could fix it for me good sir.

My HP laptop is even easier to disassemble. Just unscrew a couple of screws at the bottom, pop a couple of clips and the whole bottom cover comes off, giving you access to all the internals.

I have to say thank you Andrew. Thanks to your motivating videos, I modded my Toshiba Satellite A500-1GR and painted it like a CVR/FDR (the "black boxes" in an airliner) and I also even managed to put an "unsupported" CPU inside it (Core i7 620M). And it works fine ! =) Greetings from France =)

11:15 When you glue this back together with super glue, you can make this 10 times stronger if you put a layer of toillet paper first, cut the toillet paper a bit bigger than the crack you are trying to glue, than apply the glue on top of the toillet paper, if you have multilayered toillet paper, seperate the layers so you end up with a very thin layer, you may laugh at this but i saw this trick when The Retro Future made his elongated game boy video, he also uses this trick, and i tested it on a broken off fin from my cpu cooler and it actually works very well! It would not hold if i tried to glue the fin back on like you do with the bezel of your display, but with that single layer of toillet paper, its very strong, the cpu fan is in my pc now and has been for the last 6 months and it still goes strong! So give that a try if the bezel cracks again, you will be stunned how good this trick works! Great video man!
The spraypaint-"tutorial" is so laughebyl right and wrong at the same time, that it hurts. First: Yes, sanding inbetween coats is a very good tip. Second: spraying in multiple coats is good as well. But that's where the positive aspects of this "tutorial" end.
Seriously. Sand in only one direction with very LIGHT pressure. If you see the plastic coming through again (like in your video at two times) you definitely overdid it.
Use real, self-etching primer and not any-old spraypaint you had laying around to make it look like primer.
Spray in light (!), small (!) and SHORT (!) burts in ONE (!) direction, while maintaining a CONSTANT DISTANCE to the part of around 20 to 30 (!). DO NOT spray multiple layers in one go! Especially not with changing directions and the nozzle at such a short distance from the part.
There are so many great spraypainting tutorials on youtube, you might want to look at one.
The G6 was a line of budget laptops. I have one, in the same colour, and it's a Core i5 with Amd graphics.
Its good in performance if you upgrade the ram to 8 gb you can good games like forza horizon 4, GTA 5...etc

You can't remove the keys of this keyboard model. It is one time assembly which if you try to take it apart, the keys socket holder with break or snap.

I have similar laptop and in the original keyboard there are few keys stopped working due to water damage.
I have changed 2 others keywords but still issue is same. On or another keys are not working or key stroke are automatically coming without pressing any keys
