- I love Minecraft :)
This video has been in the works for sometime now, just my studies and procrastination kept getting in the way (lol). I really wanted to make a video like this since some people may start thinking that I am a Minecraft/Mojang Hater (I'm not). I love this game and just want to see it grow in a better direction. There are many things I dislike about the game as well but at the end of the day, this is just such a great game.
I enjoyed working on this, I have been playing Elden Ring: Shadows of the Erdtree, so I will try to to get a video about it when I am done (hopefully i can beat it). Hope you Enjoyed this video!

The whole ‘Gaming Is Bad Now’ thing is just what happens when you play the exact same thing for years without cleansing your pallet. You can’t play the say game for an entire decade and expect the same enjoyment because of fatigue.
actually, I barely play singleplayer because it's so boring. I have never really gotten burnt out because I barely played it.
i will say that there is a fair argument to be made for "games being bad because of predatory monetization taking center stage compared to fun gameplay"
but its obvious this isnt that
This does not apply to sandbox games people feel Minecraft boring because they grind the hell out of game without playing it as sandbox game. Modern Minecraft is bad for them because wooden boxes used to look good in older versions. People are either nostalgia blind or less creative. Microsoft is also making game look like child game made for 5 year olds so that's also why some people miss older versions
@@marshallthedalmatian2439 Even in a sandbox game, at some point the different routes aren't all that different. A base that is modelled after a vastly augmented desert temple looks way different from a skyscraper city, but the process of building them kinda feels the same. You can, of course, mix it up by switching between different types of projects, but there's only so many of those, in vanilla at least.
@@ehx3419 sure placing blocks does feel same but f*k that feeling if I'm enjoying building a city id rather not think about that feeling and just enjoy the game and my life instead of being a rtard and spend half of the day grinding the same game that isn't supposed to be a grinding game.
I think the main issue that most people experience is that Minecraft is a sandbox with adventure/rpg elements, which allows people who like adventure/rpg games to come in and have their fun, but after they've done all the exploring and gone through all the gear upgrades, they realize that Minecraft was never actually a full adventure/rpg experience, so it doesn't have anything else for them. For people who like the game to offer a path to follow, Minecraft doesn't do that for very long, so then you're just left with a standard sandbox experience.
yes, i agree. Minecraft is a much slower and open minded game than a typical rpg
@@Dinonyte the people that says it's a boring game doesn't realise that it's a sandbox game , there are multiple ways you can play it , as a builder I'm happy with copper it is so good for me. That's why I hate videos which only has perceptive of a explorer or rpg seeker
Yes, Minecraft isn't a progression game, it's not terraria, it's not an rpg. It's a game where the potential of the game is based off the player's creativity to create whatever they want. This has always been the core theme of the game and it should remain that way. Mojang has to stop pleasing those players with progression updates because they will always be disappointed. Vanilla updates should always be centered around the core theme of the game, if someone wants to have rpg elements they should mod it or play terraria.
@@urielisidore9963There is no such thing as a "progression game" at all
Almost every game has progression minecraft is not the exception.
It's funny because you can basically make everything of the "old Minecraft" in the newer versions, the new stuff didn't remove the existing ones, actually to do the new things you have to purposefully look for them most of the time. Maybe the terrain generation is the most obvious change, but that doesn't even affect the basic mechanics that much
Exactly, complaining about old minecraft being better because new features are bad isnt really valid since you can just ignore new features entirely and only go for old features

@@Briskeeen this comment reminds me of Sipover's video

I hate this trend of people saying "Video games aren't fun now", like shut up bro. Nice Video!

Minecraft has been my favorite game since the world of color update and I hate to see people saying it’s not fun.
I agree, And Glad you liked it!!
Saying Minecraft isn’t fun and that Mojang is lazy are two very different things.
Bottom line, Mojang is lazy. They have one of the highest selling games of all time with several spinoffs but they can’t be bothered to add more than a few mobs and near useless blocks every update.
@@littlemoth4956 first of all, that was a joke pretending I was trailing off topic with another annoying thing Minecraft haters say. Second of all, I strongly disagree. Mojang isn’t lazy, they work their butts off making each and every update. And it’s not like the things they make are useless. The new copper and tuff blocks are useful for a builder, and the new crafter is useful for redstoners, for example. They’re not useless, they’re use- *ful* for a different type of minecrafter. One man’s trash is another’s treasure. Cliche, I get it, but it just fit so well. But you may say, “🫠 wat about da glow squid? Dat was useless as-“ you mean the glow squid *you,* the community voted for? Let’s see what Minecraft chose to add… oh, the breeze. A mob that tests the skills of players in battle. And the camel. A mount that can travel far and has a dash ability while keeping you safe from basic hostile mobs. And when players think Mojang is “lazy” for adding little features, it’s not that those features are hard to code, it’s that these features are the official game. Sure, modders can just make whatever they want to add to Minecraft. But if it’s going to be an official feature in the game forever, Mojang has to make sure it’s balanced, it’s age appropriate, it fits the lore, (yes that last one is *very* important) and so much more and most features can’t get added in. And I didn’t even mention all the bug fixes on new *and* old features that spends so much of our time and energy. And the reason you can’t understand this is because I have to write essentially an essay just so that you DO. Hopefully a TH-camr sees this and puts it in a video for the 2 second attention span iPad kids out there.
@@greencheetah104 100% agree with what you're saying, so I'll give you a little help with your formatting to make your points shine more. In "use*ful*", put "use- *ful*" instead, and for the Glow Squid point, put the formatting around the "you" behind the comma. Just some advice, because it's sad if a great comment goes underappreciated for its formatting.

If you don't find Minecraft fun, you have 3 primary options:
A. Change your mindset/perspective towards the game
B. Mod the shit out of the game (my personal choice)
C. Play something else
I don't get why people don't just switch games. It literally takes less effort than to dedicate an entire video just to accidentally/purposefully make a game look bad.
ikr?!?!
yes, these are good options, but Minecraft is boring, just accept it. if you need to do any of that, that means the game is BORING or not designed well enough on its own so modders have to improve it themselves.

I've been waiting years to see a video on this. People are trying to give Minecraft progression, difficulty, etc. This is literally ripping out the heart of what makes it Minecraft. By paving pathways and pointing players to go certain routes, you'll rob the player of their freedom to make Minecraft WHATEVER genre of game they want. The people trying to 'improve' the game are fitting Minecraft into a mold it was never meant for, and that keeps others from what they enjoy in the game, causing more controversy, and making more people upset.
Subscribing for more great content!

there have ALWAYS been pathways, you just don't notice them, going from stone to iron to diamond is one of them. making the game actually difficult isn't "paving pathways", with the way the game is structured, getting protection 4 netherite already makes you pretty much immortal but then you remember totems exist and now you are completely invincible. that's never a good thing unless the game is a roguelike. oh, and after you manage to get immortal, there is nothing to do except building, which a lot of people find boring.

Minecraft isn’t boring, you just lost your imagination.
This is what happens when you grow up…
I remember gerg made a video on these kinds of videos, and I remember one argument he said in it. People who think minecraft has too many useless features and stuff are usually only interested in beating the ender dragon, and not using creativity in a sandbox game. Who cares about things like bees if they can’t help you kill the ender dragon faster?
People complaining about there being way too many blocks are like people complaining that an art palette has too many colors. You don’t need to use all of them. You can play the game without going in a 40 block radius of something like amethyst or copper. A problem I have with people saying old minecraft was better is when people complain about this, when most houses back then were just hollowed out cubes of whatever was the last thing you found when night happened on your first one. Now people attempt to make creations in a sandbox game look good and suddenly there’s too many options?
I have seen that video, He put it out very recently and I love his arguments. Everything just makes so much sense so I don't know why people still try to shout out their completely wrong opinions and present them like universal facts. Like bro, Nobody thinks like that except for you!
The MORE mc (Minecraft) UPDATES THE MORE FUN THE GAME GETS😊
Yes bro i feel bored when I play older versions (most of the time) because I miss modern stuff and how much more there is to do
People who think minecraft is boring usually want it to be an RPG, the problem is, minecraft is NOT an rpg, its a sandbox game, many would then try to do a gotcha saying "well then only creative mode should exist!" But the thing is creative mode was literally THE FIRST MODE, survival came after, and the goal of both are the same, turn the world into whatever you like, in the end getting better gear, defeating bosses, and everything is just so you can more easily build stuff, because thats what minecraft IS, its what it always has been, the more the people understand that, the less we have to deal with annoying comments like these
nobody ever wanted Minecraft to be an rpg, Dunno where you got that from, also nobody said, "well then only creative mode should exist!" in response to what you said did creative come first? does it matter? no, no it doesn't, we are talking about current version. the bosses, they are easy and give almost no rewards. I could live without a beacon. they had a chance with the warden but they for some reason didn't want players to kill the warden, so they made it drop trash.
if all of it is to make building easier, then the game is just bad, because like half the players don't even like building. and some of those players like the game, how does that work??

Most of the people who say Minecraft is boring are the people who get all the best gear as soon as possible, they never take time to enjoy the game.
I quite agree with this
@@Dinonyte i completely get that but then again the reason why people get best gear as soon as possible is so that you can actually play the game. 2:13 the reason why i personally think Level scaleing is a bad idea is because of multiplayer worlds. If a new player had already beaten the dragon that would mean all mobs are buffed because of that it which would make the early game experience a nightmare due to op mobs spawning wile you are no were near prepared to handle that kind of challenge at theat stage of the game.
Minecraft tries to give players freedom, and adding progression and level scaling will just take away that freedom and turn it into a linear game. That is NOT Minecraft

I remember I got bored of Minecraft for a while, and went and learned Blender and went to college to learn Computer Science. Coming back to Minecraft a year ago, with mods and a friend, was very fun- my perspective towards engineering was changed by my computer science knowledge, and I had an incentive to decorate due to playing with a friend.
My only big gripe with modern Minecraft is how rockets and the Elytra interact. It discourages building infrastructure. So I got a mod that removes that interaction. So I've been building up a Create mod rail network, which is very fun to work on.
Your information is absolutely true, just like my same mindsets. This is how "we" used to play minecraft in many ways. Also i subscribe and like your videos. :)

I’m just a regular bedrock minecraft player. I’m at a minimum over 3000 days (the day counter is a new feature and started @ day 0 when added, and I was already very far into the game,) into my world and still don’t have netherite. It feels discouraging (at least to me) to make everything 10x harder just because the tryhards with huge hardcore worlds think it’s too easy. Although I don’t mind adding things with extra difficulty! I love setting my own goals and challenges, and I think that’s why I love the game. I get to do what *I* want.
It’s all about what *you* make of it. It’s only boring because you haven’t been open to new features lol
I literally don't kill the ender dragon for 95% of my worlds. Not Because I don't want to, But I just start doing whatever I feel like and end up forgetting the Dragon even exists
@@Dinonytethat’s so real 😭. Took me a while to beat the dragon in my world. I just wanted shulker boxes for building (extending) my base, and the obsidian for the roof of the main base.
Ironic how when the ender dragon was first released alot of ppl were pissed and it was a (relatively) big controversy, but now ppl act as if EVERY SINGLE THING has to revolve around either reaching the ender dragon, making the fight easier, or doing something after the dragon fight.
People got pissed when creative mode came out as well
I hate when something doesn’t appeal to someone and they think it’s bad just because they personally don’t like it. Ever consider that you just grew out of sandbox games? Your interests change over time, something you liked a few years ago could be boring to you now. Just because it doesn’t appeal to you anymore doesn’t mean it’s bad or boring. If this was the majority of the player base saying this, it’d be an issue, but since it’s just a vocal minority, I think Minecraft is in the clear.
It’s literally about reminding people that this is a sandbox game, not an rpg game
It’s common sense that playing a game for 15 years straight while going from point to point in your life is bound to make the game not just somewhat boring, but not representative of those feelings you had for the game before you changed so much over that decade and a half. The people who say “old Minecraft good new Minecraft bad” have changed more over that time than the game has, but would rather blame the game for the wonder they’ve lost throughout their lives.
Once i used to think minecraft is boring so i learned how to build until i got bored of building so now I learn redstone

I have nostalgia for old minecraft but modern minecraft is just good
As someone who has played since Pocket Edition Lite and Legacy Console Edition, I wholeheartedly agree. While I do think older Minecraft does have its own charm in a few ways, theres a reason why I mainly play on newer versions. While I mainly play modded Minecraft these days, the Vanilla game is still great in its own right. There's a good reason why Minecraft is one of the most popular video games of all time, and why this world of blocks holds a special place in many peoples hearts.
Someone mentioned that you don't miss old Minecraft, you just missed the childlike wonder, and i agreed
Now, i as an adult, tried playing modern modded mc but i act like a child, using my imagination like how i would when i was a

Minecraft hasn’t become boring, you’ve just become bored of it. They haven’t removed anything from the game, how can something change if it doesn’t change? Your attitude to it can change with time, but the game itself doesn’t remove features
I rember a video that said "in old minecraft you could build things with friends in new minecraft you just grind at the endermam farm" that was what ticked me off about those videos
Imo the thing that makes Minecraft fun is playing it with someone else, somebody to talk to while making weird but fun shenanigans and also laughing at them when they die but without it it feels more empty like something is missing.Making ideas is hard without someone there or to make builds without feelimg burnt out bc on how long it takes.
I swear, this is soo true. I had a lot a of fun just playing with my friends even if we didn't do anything productive the whole time
I see your point. Though I personally don't have this problem. I actually prefer playing single player over multiplayer. Slowly watching your world evolve and grow through your actions is fun to me. And you can sculpt the world exactly how you want it without having to stress over what other people wanna do instead. It's all you. It may take much longer and feel more tedious doing everything alone, but once you accomplish your goal, knowing you did it all yourself. It makes you feel incredible. Then yes you might take a while to think of a new goal, but once you do, the fire reignites.
I know everyone is different, but I just wanted to throw in my two cents and say people can get many hours of enjoyment out of Minecraft, even in single player.

So, personally for me, try beating the game at your own pace, beating the dragon does not mean the game is over (unless your speedrunning lol), there are still countless biomes and structures for you to explore. Like the minecraft trailer says, "The only limit is your imagination".
I actually made a world last 2 years ago and that's the 789th-ish world I made, that world was the most fun world I play currently. I don't have netherite tools or armor, Heck! I don't even have diamond armor or tools😂 I still use iron tools and armor. The key to having fun is.... play, create, and do shenanigans ( do whatever your mind thinks). If your thinking about building a village just 9 blocks below height limit then do it! ( I did )
I love that idea! In One of my worlds, I made a challenge for myself to build everything on water, I ended up having the most fun I have had in minecraft ever. So, yes, just do what you want and anything can be fun
@@Dinonyte imm try that tomorrow, Thanks!
@@Karl3rd Nice, It forces you to literally farm crops and animals all on water. It was fun tho

Peoole say Minecraft is lack of progression but that's what make it fun.
True, imagine you can build a bastion as a base of yours ;)
Minecraft HAS progress, it's just really bad and basic

Whoo, a TH-camr who makes positive video essays! I love those!
The only criticism of new minecraft compared to old minecraft i agree with is that new minecraft has lost that liminal space feel old minecraft had. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it has become a different kind of game.
I agree with this
I do believe minecraft used to be *more* fun.
It still is, but not as much.
I get what you mean, I am thinking on a follow-up video that talks about this and the weird new direction the game is headed into
I don't actually understand how this is true, because, potentially, what's stopping you from starting up a Minecraft world in 1.21 and playing it like 1.18, or play 1.15 pretending it's 1.9? Most of updates didn't delete or change any of pre existing game features, only add new thing, so in this logic, Minecraft practically is not capable of getting less fun then it was before.
(Unless we're talking about game changing updates such 1.9,1.16,1.18 and some others)
(1.14 also was pretty game changing, but this is the stuff you can ignore if you want to, so it didn't make game less fun, IMO)
@@EmpinadoMaxbmdggTheSun I think its the expectations of people, if there is an update around the corner, then I obviously want to see what new things are there gonna be. Overtime if all the updates become skippable then the updates aren't doing there job well. Updates are meant to add to the game and if you skip it, you will just miss out. Tho yes, there is nothing stopping you from playing like an older version
@@EmpinadoMaxbmdggTheSun It doesn't have anything to do with what's changed in the game
For me, it's the fact that I started playing minecraft as a kid and now that I've been playing it for well over a decade and am in my 20s, minecraft just doesn't hit the same as it did when I was 8.
The game is absolutely still fun and I'm loving the new 1.21 update, and am looking forward to creating a world with my boys to play it, but that doesn't change the fact that Minecraft was tenfold more fun when I was a kid.
The main reason Minecraft used to be "more fun" is because you were younger. EVERYTHING was more fun back then... And even if you didn't start playing Minecraft as a kid, games are always more fun when you first get them, because they're NEW.
Redstone has many possibilities
yeah i agree
👍👍
Current minecraft is definitely better than old minecraft. Nostalgia blinds
i mean minecraft gets boring when u dont play it

Now I hate the videos of people saying "its still fun" just as much as the ones saying "minecraft
Is dying" cuz everything has been said already. Its so repetitive.
We gotta keep countering the ones who call it boring or it might just become a bad trend
@@Dinonyte its already a trend, its nothing new
I love how Dino and gerg are the complete oposite on this topic.
I actually really like gerg's video. I think I just said the things in a nicer, less harsh way. But I love his comedic roasting.
With every update (not including the small updates that include one new block) minecraft actually gets more and more fun, one day I found my old Wii U wich had minecraft in it, I played it and the updates stopped at the aquatic update and the game felt boring because it didn't have the thing we have now
I Miss Old Minecraft Thats Why You Have No Childhood
Also these are the same people who started the “Minecraft revolution”.
Tbh, those people just kind forget that there’s no need for progression in the game, this is because Minecraft is made to give you freedom, which means they don’t set the progression YOU do, you shape your adventure as you wish and nobody can do anything about that. You aren’t have to do farms of redstone, you aren’t forced to go for extra loot, you’re not forced to beat the Ender Dragon, you are the one who decides that.
And even if the Ender Dragon is your goal, don’t think it as the only thing you shall or can do, you can have extra or other goals, getting elytra, beating the warden, beating the wither and more. Don’t just go stuck in the Ender Dragon over and over. I think this is what the videos don’t get. The goal isn’t to beat the Ender Dragon, it gives you the credits, yeah, but the goal is what you like to think as the goal, and the many goals after that.
But remember Minecraft is not only survival or hardcore, it’s also filled with creativity, a game where you can build whatever you want without restrictions, there being a entire mode for that which is creative, if you find survival boring, that’s fine! But just remember there are more things to do than just survival. Minecraft has way more than that.
for anyone who's bored of Minecraft and plays it for its survival elements, I would sugest you to try Vintage Story. It takes heavy insperation from Minecraft, but amplifys the survival elements, making it harder and somwhat more realistic, like needing to start with flint tools. Well, realistic if you are willing to ignore the horrific rust gremlins that serve as the main alternitive to Minecrafts night monsters.
Minecraft isn't getting worse, or even boring. It is just that there are so many other games out now that are better at survival, pvp, pve, etc... Even things like more realism and a story line makes other games feel more interactive and real.
We can all agree that minecraft needs a modding api. Just to have it so that updates don't break the mods.
Sadly they went in the exact opposite direction and tried to stop modding entirely
And as all of these videos appear I suddenly start playing Minecraft more 😭
Here’s the thing: a lot say that they “miss old Minecraft.” And if that’s really the case, then… play old Minecraft. The option is right there.
Just got back playing the game and feels really bored. Then I realized I just keep doing the same progression step as 1.7.10 (the first version I played) and not doing stuff like abusing villager trading, treasure hunting, or heck anything that doesn't involve mining for hours. If anything modern minecraft is good at breaking the monotonous early progression of the older version with villager trading and treasure (including shipwreck).
Thank you for being a good person on Minecraft 👍
I THINK THIS IS A GREAT VIDEO. He shows why he disagrees with the points made but doesn't outright bash but only criticises their views and shows alternatives to help others with this mindset. Keep it up dude
Glad you liked it!
If I had a nickel for every time I saw Agent P. in Minecraft, I would have 2 nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

Minecraft is still fun.. even if you die easily or died with all enchanted armor, the fun is about imagination and creativity, there is no limit, even a company, Lego, explains that. Many other companies say this too.
I used to agree with the people saying "oh, Minecraft sucks now"
Then the server i play on reset, tons of people came back, and i tried new build styles
Guess whos no longer bored
