I had a similar situation with my Vito no cold air. I gave compressor a couple of light taps with a copper mallet while the A/C compressor was engaged near the regulator actuator. it was enough to jar the actuator and freed it up so that system worked. It has been operational now for two years.
This may not work for everyone,but worth a try.

Question please - if I replaced a Sprinter 2006 AC compressor with a new one that was possibly not the correct size - Could this explain why the unit worked on Cold to start with then after a few weeks of use stopped working on Cold again?

good video , what was the temp at the compressor control valave , at the first of the video was black round on top towards rear of compressor , I find them to be around 500 to 600 just had one over 1400 so the compressor would not engage $90 part

Hy! A have the same compressor model+ cluch, at sprinter and, the compressor is changed, but the same error from ecu b1602, AY91 regulation valve posititiv short circuit to ground...and te compressor cluch is working buth no pressure, just warming up the compressor...any idea? Thx! No electric fault found....

You did a very good job of explaining the whole process. I have a similar problem with no cold A/C air except I know the compressor is good as I just bought the Denso compressor. Since I am having problems with the A/C system not excepting the freon though I have managed to get a static pressure of around 75 PSI. My next thing I want to do is go to the A/C compressor control valve (low pressure switch) and see if I am getting power to the red line. It seems like I am not as the compressor is not cycling the freon in. Do you agree with me on this? I really respect your knowledge of this job and would greatly appreciate your help. Something is keeping the compressor from doing its job. Please respond. Thank you sir. Wayne

my sprinter van 2500 ac unit is working fine but not as cold in the front driver and passenger side. Suggestions? no leak or anything...does it need a recharge?
Mark Lete Yes! You should start by checking the amount of refrigerant that is in it! it might be low!

i have a 2008 dodge 2500 sprinter. the A/C is turning on and runs cold until up to temp and then it gets hot unless i am driving. the fan is not kicking on at all. do you know what would cause this?
i have recharged the A/C,replaced the fans,and replaced the relay on the fan housing.
@tonyedmundson-1907 check your AC pressure switches and fan sure your fan is good!
Hi would a faulty compressor explain a loss in A/C gas but with no visible leaks on the pump and pipes?
@lukesancasciani Hi, No! a faulty compressor would not cause the refrigerant to leak out!
nice video. question what happen if you add more refrigerant than what is supposed?
Pedro Burgos too much refrigerant in the AC system will cause the AC not to work properly or it can blow up a component on the system!!
Hi Great Video..... I have the same compressor I removed the dust cover on the front after it stopped working Melted rubber inside Must have failed inside and then cooked the cush part up front. My question Can I drive it till I can fix it ??? Thanks you

2016 Sprinter 2500 - a/c works but it blows weak... the passenger a/c works strong and blows great. Any ideas for weak blow? Outside is 85-100 degrees but the cooling effect is wimpy and the blow is super low... regular fan air blows as expected. Heat blows hard too... Awesome video btw.
@dougsillers it sounds like you have an actuator problem, your mode actuator under the dash might be failing!

Do you also need to replace the drier or anything else? I have a bad clutch on my compressor on my 2014 2.1 liter 4cyl. Mercedes Sprinter. I have a new compressor but not sure what else I need to replace. Thank you.

@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_RepairI still have some pressure in the system so I wasn't sure if I could just quickly switch the compressor without doing the drier. Or if I need to vacuum down the system completely and replace drier and compressor. If oil in old compressor looks good, should I replace expansion valve or anything else or just compressor and drier? Then just recharge and that's it? Thank you!
@@dukehaulatgmail7728 you don't need to replace the expansion valve, drier and compressor you should be good to go, assuming everything else is good!

hi i have no or very little voltage at back probed connector .... 2007 vito with variable compressor , checked for gas seems has gas , why no power to single wire
raymond rixon check the wiring! you might have an open wire or high resistence in the wire! if the compressor is controlled by a relay, check the relay also!
if it's a sprinter like the one on the video, the problem might be the wiring or bad computer since this compressor is controlled by the PCM

I have a 2008 3500 with a single compressor and the AC doesn’t work either. Should I go ahead with my oscilloscope and check for a command from the computer as you did?

Assuming I give 12V to compressor, should it start, if it’s not defective, regardless of the pulse command needed from the computer?
That would be easier to do before the test with the oscilloscope because it’s a bench unit like a small suitcase and wouldn’t be easy to move around,

sam kelvin NO! if your compressor is defective, repalce it with the drier and you'll be fine!
Question. 11 miles after replacing my only compressor on 2007 Sprinter 2500, 201k miles, and kept up on all maintenance all the way, my turbo started making metal on metal grinding sounds. So question is did I miss an oiling issue replacing my air compressor unit or is this just another issue I need to deal with? Well obviously I have to deal with it but could I have caused it when I replaced the unit on my truck? There’s a lot about the oiling in this truck, being an sad American shade tree mechanic, that I probably need to figure out yet. I’d still like to know. Thank you Brother

Anthony Chaboya Yes! You will have to go to a shop that has an AC Machine so they recover the refrigerant for you!

checked a sprinter and the compressor was working fine but the condenser was leaking, after replacing the condenser recharged with the right amount of refrigerant but the compressor did not make pressure any more. No error codes on hvac, pressure sensor shows the right pressure , but no voltage on the red wire of the compressor valve. Anybody could help me ?

Thank you for the answer, I found that the positive wire pin was not making good contact in the socket and this is why the ac control module was not engaging the compressor
Is control valve o selenoid replaceable on that compressor?

Hmmm. I'm a bit confused. I have a 2008 Freightliner 2500 Sprinter. I was searching for videos that explained the climate controls. I see you pushed the a/c button in this video (red light on). However, other people say that when the red light is on, the a/c is actually off. Like this video for example: th-cam.com/video/1dgaIQOaR5Q/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared

The AC in these is trash. Mine has always been a problem -- I have a 2015.
@collinporterfield102 always use OEM AC components on these vans!
