I’ve started many cold diesel engine by simply spraying from a spray ball gasoline into the intake on a diesel engine. It will fire immediately and run smooth within seconds.
I'm sure it works but not a good idea for a Diesel engine imo. Similary `Start ya bastard' and `Easy Start' that typically have active ingredients such as Naphtha & Diethyl ether I wouldn't use for a Diesel. Diesels being Compression Ignition these products can cause ignition before the piston rises to the correct position near the top of the cylinder which will shorten the life of the Diesel engine (Diesel timing is lost). Starting using fire in the intake air as per the video Diesel timing is hardly affected.
We used to soak a rag in gas in the army hold over intake and fire it up. Just make sure you are holding on to the rag really well or you will be taking it apart to get it out of blower.
