I can see asking about breaks. You want to know if the company respects your time or is firm about even giving you a lunch break. Also, the most important thing about a job is the money. So if it's not a salary that's close, why should somebody waste time with a recruiter?

Early interviews are typically about making sure this is the type of work you want to do and a culture you enjoy. Jumping straight to salary, rightly or wrongly, comes across as desperate and puts you in a weak position. Also, until they assess you in the interview, they may not be certain how much to pay based on the full picture of what you have to offer. You want to save this bit until conversation 2 or 3.

the opposite happens to me, the interviewers are making the stupidest questions,
    1. the interviewer has No idea what I do, and they have a printed CV in their hands, it is annoying,
You called Me, You should know Who You called, and Why You picked me,
and they have the attitude of, Why am I not impressed they made time for me to be here, while they have no idea why they called me in for,
they act like I work for them already, and should be trying my best to keep a job I don’t have yet,
    2. Not knowing how Degrees and diplomas work,
a recruiter in a company asked if I have a BA, when they asked what is my highest level of education, I answered an MA, and they asked if I have a BA, again,
I said well yes, in this field you have to have a BA to get an MA,
and they covered it with a: “I need to know bc our clients sometimes ask if our staff has a BA”
and I fail to understand how is a client going to ask, if their employees have a BA… this is not how the world works,
    3. discrimination, another interviewer asked if I am from Africa,
I was puzzled and answered, No, why?
because part of my last name sounds African…
so basically my last name has been interpreted as African, and therefore they were expecting someone else to come, not a Pale White European,
and god knows if I was screened as an “undesirable” based on this statement,
    4. unprofessional questions, and Nepo problem,
many interviewers asked me, Why am I even applying here, Why Not go Abroad, some just said, “if I had a CV like this I would go to america to work”
basically I was left sitting there asking, so Do You Hire here or Not? am I interviewing for this position or Not?
and they just were sad, and said: this position is filled by the company ceo’s kid already, but they need to interview people anyway, but if it was up to us we would hire you.
This does Not help me. I am jobless and starving and soon homeless and I fit all your requirements, and You still interview for a position that is already filled?
and they just look at me with pity, they can’t do anything.
    and that happened a lot.
some interviewers I strait up ask:
Is this Position Filled by a nero baby already? I don’t have time to waist.
and some are shocked and say this is an open position, and then proceeded to waist my time only to ghost me afer 2 even 3 times of interviews…
and other times, they look like they were caught, and just nod yes, so I ask for free coffee and we talk, and I don’t expect them to call back
    5. Unable to Read a CV,
I put my last 3 positions on my CV, so it would be just 1 page, and I was asked:
“so you stated you have more years of experience and this just 3 jobs on your resume”
I said well - you said you want to see my Last 3 jobs, I have had so many more that would turn this CV into 2-3 pages,
they asked me to sent the 3 pages, and so I did, they waisted my time, and never called back,
    6. and the most annoying, data mining, mix and misses
Recruiters that Send Me a proposal of a job, and Don’t Name the Company at all,
they just want my CV, and some info and how fast I can start working, and what my salary expectations are,
and they refuse to answer what the name of the company is,
    basically they collect My data,
they will send me a job proposal, with a job Number, and ask for me to Not submit multiple times to this position or it will eliminate my submission,
but they Never tell me what the company is most of the time, some give a Job# and Employers# and act like they are looking for the best fit,
they sometimes even get me an interview, and it’s confusing,
bc for the most part I have No information about the company they try sending me to,
and they get payed for bringing a person fitting for a position, but I have to figure out if I can even get to that interview on time and do I even want to work there before even having a chance to check the background of that company.
    7. many Interviews have waisted my time, and it’s because they are just employees and Not Recruiters at all by trade,
they have no idea what to even ask,
some just point me to a manager, and they point me to submit my cv to their company system, I fail to understand what the point is,
why call me in for an interview, only to have a staff that has no idea they need to interview someone and they have to just bail with “fill a form on the company site”

Interviewer: Tell me one example of how you solved a problem.
Candidate: I just gave it the “hawk tuah and spit on that thang!”
Not quite 5 words… but you could probably blend a few words together

I'm sorry, but if you're in a position where you are "begging" or "trying not to screw up" and interview, where you're "lucky" to work for some company, you fucked up in life.
A job interview should not have a power distribution in favor of the company/interviewer, they need talent and they should be lucky to have you.
If you aren't someone worth them being lucky to have, you gotta figure something out.
You should be weeding companies out, not companies weeding you out.

I disagree with this. In an interview, both parties should put their best foot forward. You are marketing your services and the company is selling themselves to you as an employer. It is very rare in the current market to have your pick of any job. Most people are struggling just to get to the interview. If you are in one of these rare positions, congratulations.

" In an interview, both parties should put their best foot forward."
You state that as if it's a rebuttal of something I said or in such a way that it should be new relevant information, it is not.
"It is very rare in the current market to have your pick of any job."
      That's just not true.
"Most people are struggling just to get to the interview."
That statement cannot be true in a functional society, so if it happens to be true, there is a fundamental dysfunction within our society that needs to be corrected.

Yep I’m sure all the people desperately competing for $500K/yr FAANG software engineering positions have “fucked up in life”

      @CAPSLOCKS0N 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@allthecommonsense There aren't piles of people competing for those positions; there are piles of obviously unqualified people foolishly applying for them.
The handful of people who these jobs are for get to pick and choose.
