I've been wondering lately why I do not get interviews now when in 2019-2020, just when I had graduated, I got so many...

This is why. Way more people competing for fewer jobs. This too shall pass, the market will eventually swing the other way.

You can find a job but the issue is a decent great paying job with benefits to take care of your family or start one. The jobs they speak of are literally for someone living at home with no plan to buy any assets or own anything meaningful.

Agreed. The salary isn't matching our aspirations and the cost of living.

Getting started in a career is really rough. It takes time and some experience to build reasonable compensation.

What's also a matter of concern is the highly predatory environment in the job search realm. This is the direct result of dwindling viable career opportunities. Employers know this of course and they're making candidates jump through so many hoops just to land a normal job. As a result, people are forgoing trying to find a "meaningful" career. It's not worth the hassle anymore because the job search process is tantamount to working two jobs at times.

What extra obstacles are you seeing people add?

@@BetterThing-jobs Aptitude tests, projects, multiple interview sessions, etc. All useless busy stuff or what I refer to as "$hit tests".

@@BetterThing-jobs Three, four, five interviews. Deliberate cancellations. Personality exams and two-hundred-question personal profile quizzes. Repetitive testing, sometimes for identical skills. Forcing applicants to submit a resume AND fill out an application containing the same information. Some application processes exceed four hours of real time, which is unreasonable.

I lost my job Feb 2024. I was a video game artist and has only gotten worse. Considering IT.
