*"No stop! Don't have fun and enjoy things! This show is bad and should die because Splinter is fat and Raph is too tall and because it changes things even though every TMNT adaptation does that but this one isn't allowed to!"* Thank you for contributing nothing to the conversation except the most vapid and shallow response possible. If being accurate to the comic was so damn important than you must hate ALL of these shows.
I think fans forgotten that they hated the 2012 series before they actually saw it. But then again 2012 series was released before the DARK times, before fandoms started to lose their minds after Teen Titans Go, Thundercats Roar, Dreamworks She-Ra, etc.. So now any change no matter how necessary is now seen as heresy.
Moonlite Brite *THANK YOU* When I was younger I remember people saying the 2012 series was so bad and now people say it’s one the greatest incarnations of the Turtles.
They fucked up April(blackwashed her and made her a f***ing kid, which is even worse than her, Casey, and Karai being high-school-age teenagers), Splinter(who's tiny, fat, lazy, and can't even remember the names of his f***ing adopted sons), and the Shredder, and made Raph the leader! I'm sorry to say it folks and if you disagree, fine, but real "TMNT" fans aknowledge "Rise of The TMNT" as the bastardization that it is. If you're going to change something to the point that it's unrecognizable, then you should create a new IP instead.
This show had: -Unique designs -unique and refreshing plot -the best comedy -great character interactions -the best animation that even rivals and surpasses some of the best looking animes. People who hate this greatness just dissapoint me. And i say this as someone who grew with the previous iterations as well.
Honestly in terms of writing, I want to throw out: Rise had a lot more of writing where the turtles... actually felt like teenagers/kids? I've always had a problem with TMNT doing a terrible job of writing sibling relationships, and teens in general, and I dunno... in previous iterations, the turtles all felt so mean to each other. I have three sisters, so I always give the series a shot when it reboots, because of the whole 4 of them thing. In Rise, they all are sorta jokingly mean, but mean in that way where you know they can all hold their own against each other? Like you really get that these _are_ 4 teenage brothers who genuinely care for each other. Also Mikey and Donnie not getting sidelined all the time in favor of the Raph vs. Leo arguments was suuuuuper refreshing. Shoutout to the 07 movie for giving B team maybe 12 lines of dialogue put together.
YES! People has issues with 2012 version because “the turtles look and act childish” and even more so with Rise as if they aren’t y’know , TEENAGE turtles. Secondly they actually act youthful and they complain abt the rise turtles not acting mature but they weren’t even given the chance to? It’s called rise for a reason as they are RISING to their name as the ninja turtles try everyone only shits on them with absolutely zero care for what the series is trying to do.
I haven't watched any of the other versions but what I have been able to gather is that most of the other tmnt series' forget that the word "Teenage" is quite LITERALLY IN THE TITLE OF THE FRANCHISE. Other than the 2012 series, the other versions of the Turts feel like angsty adults instead of, oh, idk TEENAGERS???? Teens are going to be immature, goof off, and not be natural good at everything at first. Teens are LEARNING to lead, mature, and grow, and that's what Rise does.
2 years late but I want to add that Mikey and Donnie actually being relevant is beyond refreshing. They don't even feel like the B Team anymore because Leo and Raph aren't that good, either. Plus, they totally switched up the dynamics and rivalries. Usually it's 90% Leo and Raph butting heads over decisions, and sometimes some brain vs brawn with Donnie and Raph. Mikey is almost never involved. So imagine my delight when the rivalry with an entire episode dedicated to it was Mikey vs Leo. And it was wonderful. It's not often remembered that Mikey is the most naturally gifted of the four, simply held back by his own work ethic. Natural talent vs. hard work is a very juicy dynamic, it can really go places as the boys mature. Coupled with the fact that Leo has no overt special trait (i.e. strength, intellect, talent), AND this iteration of him harboring a desperate need for attention and superiority, and I could see Leo vs. Mikey really standing up to the depth and complexity of most Leo vs Raph rivalries if it gets explored. As it turns out, most of the rivalries in Rise are Leo centric. Typically, I don't like one character receiving more than their share of attention, even if they are my favorite. But I guess it's okay because Rise Leo is characterized as very competitive, petty and childish (as a teenage boy would be), so it makes sense thematically. Also, this series just has more love and affection between the brothers, so the dynamics and rivalries don't feel so cut-throat and violent and angsty anymore, which I am a huge fan of.
@@zulephizus1212 YES!! It's never too late to give Rise it's due credit in the character writing, and your analyses are spot on! Everything about the characterization just feels so... revitalizing the series. Like they saw the concepts that kept repeating and went "Cool, now what if we did this, this time?" Mikey's usually my favorite in every iteration, just cuz he was the one to be in the least amount of fights, but Leo was my fav by farrrr in Rise. Something about the dynamics Leo has with his competitiveness is just so fun, lol.
@@Aiyenolobia Loud House could get screwed if it wasn't a success overnight, it is the only show after SpongeBob that did the impossible task of equaling or even surpassing it in ratings.
The difference between Rise and Teen Titans Go is that Rise has amazing fan service, the jokes are hilarious, the voice cast is perfect, the animation is beyond words, amd the story is incredible!
The switch up of the weapons is actually quite brilliant and represents the growth and flaws of the characters. Raph is a big teddy bear in this version so his weapon is probably the most blunt but represents his fiery energy by being a more up close and personal weapon. The mystic side also shows his style of fighting. Using his overwhelming size and strength in order to take down an opponent. He feels that he isn’t a good enough leader for the team which is why he takes a lot of the responsibility on himself. It isn’t until he finds confidence in himself, becomes more fiery, and trusts his friends that his weapon grows from a blunt object and a single projection to a more lethal(still blunt) weapon that can make multiple projections that he can rely on. Donnie had a bow made completely out of tech. This shows his fighting style as he mainly relies on tech to overwhelm his opponent as well as his insecurities in how he feels that his tech is all he can bring to the team. It isn’t until he realizes he is more than his inventions that his weapon becomes a more simple bow staff that he can modify with tech or just inventions from his mind. Mikey is the most simple yet unconventional of the Turtles at the same time. This is reflected in his weapon as it seems simple (a chain with a heavy ball at the end) but in reality it is very hard to wield and use. It mainly allows Mikey to work at a distance as he is very scared at the beginning. It isn’t until he starts to form more of his own voice and becomes more assertive that his natural nunchucks come back in which he can use his unconventional style from a distance and up close. Leo is arguably the most brilliant in design. The Odachi is the most complex weapon and it shows. This shows that while Leo is very goofy and a jokester, he’s still a great strategist. He might not be the most tech savvy but he is arguably the most clever, quick-witted, and best on the fly thinker. Opening all the portals and directing them to where he wants to go is not easy and requires a lot of quick thinking as well as strategic placement as well as a pre made plan. However, he mainly uses it at the beginning to show off how great he is. He mainly does this to one up his brothers instead of working with them even though he’s shown to be the better leader due to his insecurities and personal flaws. It isn’t until he becomes more of a team player, more willing to completely lean on his brothers, and finally grows into the leader he was always meant to be that he receives his iconic swords and the portal power becomes something he can share and even give to his brothers.
@@uwa_ta2258 me, too. They are mystical powerful weapons after the thugs when they chase Mayhem and they broke all of the turtles' old weapons then the Turtles found the these mystical weapons in the beginning of Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018 tv series), episode 1, "Mayhem!"
If you want to know why Rise of the TMNT was abandoned so quickly by Nickelodeon, it’s because the show was greenlit by a different president, and the new one was more focused on episodic, slice of life comedies (it’s also likely why glitch techs was shoved away as well). Also the movie is coming out 2021
@Broly Rulez529 Understandable. I actually haven't watched too much live tv myself since TTG so I'm not at all sure how bad it's gotten, but TMNT reaching that level would really ruin a childhood favorite of mine.
This show was so inspiring! I'm a young artist and was feeling kinda lost in my art. But once this show came out, it lit a colorful light-bulb in my head! I tried harder and finally I'm doing a lot better on my art. This show helped me with character design, the poses, and so much more! It's sad to see the show go but I can't wait for the movie.
This is probably the only thing on the internet that paints this show in a light I'm actually interested in and I'll probably give it a second chance now.
Please give it a chance! I haven't watched the originals. I don't know what it's like to digest the different changes within Rise based off of the franchise, but I do know that more thought was put into it than just changing their characters for the sake of making things different. Raph is the leader for a reason. Splinter is different for a reason. Even the turtles being different species is for a reason. It's mostly explained as you go through the show. You have to get past episode 1, and into the brunt of the love and passion that was put into Rise. It's a decent show. More than decent, really. Amazing. You'll understand if you give it a chance.
@@JIreland1992 It's a natural choice based on the fact that Raph is the oldest. He's sixteen. Donnie, Leo, and Mikey grew up following him and looking up to him, so right now he's the leader of the group. Slowly, that was supposed to transition into Leo being the leader, because he has a more natural knack for it, but they weren't able to get to that point since Nick canceled the show. It makes sense when you watch it.
Why I love this show is that they’re treated like actual teenagers not just ninja turtles the humor and the way they were written made them feel like teens. This show single handedly put the teenage in teenage mutant ninja turtles.
Be glad this show had an ending on Nicktoons compared to other shows in the past like MLAATR and Catscratch. Just like Gravity Falls ended on Disney XD.
Shame on Nickelodeon? How about shame on the people because they were the ones talking sh*t about it. Which most likely led to Nickelodeon giving up on it.
@@zulephizus1212 Even before the show came out, many people were criticizing the art style and comparing it to Teen Titans Go. What did y’all expect Nickelodeon to do? If a new show gets tons of bad reviews, then of course it’s gonna get sifted all over the schedule. If people actually gave the show a chance without criticizing it, then it probably would of gotten 3 seasons instead of 2.
@@TheNicMMc I mean I guess? Spectacular was more of a Batman TAS situation. Where they simplified the character designs and softened them up from the comics in order for them to be easy to animate. Just enough to be taken seriously but not too simple of looking like a standard children's cartoon. Here, Rise of the TMNT takes advantage of the fact that it's pure animation. Very Kinetic and energetic, exaggerated proportions in order to help distinguish each character's defining trait (Ralph for instance is very bulky and has a rough exterior, a very square like figure conveying the idea that he's the strongest, he holds the power in the team. Yea, Venom had that kind of design too but his design was a little problematic because he had such an exaggerated upper body while his legs didn't look like they could even support his weight and just clashed hard with Brock's design. Sounds contradictory to what i just said ik but what I'm saying is Venom's design was just a little messy since it stuck out a lot more on multiple rewatches when you look at everyone else that had a regular physique. Also the character designs sorta bugged me after a while since each body part had this weird action figure look to it where Spidey's bicep looked connected to his forearm not naturally but as if it were a Lego piece or something.) It looks cartoony, kinetic as can be, sorta gives me a Studio Gainax vibe to it. I would love to see a Spider-Man cartoon with this kind of animation/art style, it feels like it would fit really naturally and give it that comic book feel. The color palette is also what sticks out in this show too, I can just imagine how well Spidey would stand out with the colors red and blue. One can only hope given that the current Spider-Man show we have.... is... well... Not that pretty to look at. I mean it gets the job done but really lacks in a lot of places. It tries to replicate anime style but really just looks hard to look at, has little to no shading which makes it problematic to understand perspective and depth of some scenes. And action scenes fall flat, it feels like a college freshman's animation project. Also Spidey's costume just looks a little... on the amateur side.
@@shonbera5246 eh i dont really like rotmnt artstyle but animation is amazing tho like spectacular spider man had a new good spider man cartoon with this type of animation would be amazing and have a mix of new artstyle and mabye classic comic book artstyle
My favorite thing about this show that makes me wish I had it when I was a kid is just how BROTHERLY they all are. There isn't just a 'smart one' and a 'dumb one' and an 'angry one'. They interact with each other like brothers do, they goof off, they have stupid nicknames, they use their names in shortform. I especially love how they are each uniquely their own special type of idiot. They have a 'smart one' character but is still uniquely dumb in his own right. It's called being a teenager, and they did an amazing job depicting just what goes through a teen's head when they have mistic weapons and unmitigated desire to be fucking stupid with your bros. I can tell you right now, when I was a teen, I did stupid shit for the sake of it just being 'for the lols', got hurt doing it, then got up and did it again because 'lol'. I think rise does the TEENAGE in TMNT the best out of any other series.
That’s also what I love. They have actual personality and aren’t one dimensional. Leonardo is no longer just the leader who keeps everyone in check and makes sure they focus on the task at hand. Now he’s also a funny jokester. Raphael is still the angry one, but with a twist; he isn’t rude or snarky, in fact he’s more like a lug nut who cares about his brothers but also has anger issues I haven’t seen much about Mikey or Donnie but from what I can tell Mikey is pretty much the same and Donnie is still the tech guy
Donnie is still the tech guy but what happens to the tech guy when mystic powers are added into the mix? It’s why I love “Witch Town” so much, it’s a small moment for don but it explains his insecurity about his place on the team Mikey…I haven’t watched TMNT iterations other than 2018 (yet) so I cant compare him since I haven’t heard much about his characters in previous versions
I really like Splinter's development. The body dysphoria after mutation and letting himself go. It took the turtles to snap him out of it. Also his past with Big Mama. Past Splinters didn't have that much at all. I love our himbo ratman
HAHAha YEAH I reacted to that! I had to replay that part like 3-4 times to make sure I didn't hear wrong. It reminds me of when Raph said "Yeah, but when I was his age, I was two years older." in the episode Hot Soup The Game. Maybe it's a shout-out to that line, IDK. XD
I love how rise of the tmnt was such fresh new take on the franchise coming of the 2012 series , it was kind of a shame people couldn't see it that way as first , trashing on the series because it was radically different from other iterations (which each part of the franchise does anyway so i don't know what the big deal is) .
@@BugsyFoga still some of the changes were stupid like making raph the leader and making splinter fat but the show might be good since i just watched the vid im just saying tho
The animation blows my freaking MIND in this series. And can I say... the fashion episode. The animators and writers knew EXACTLY what they were doing with that episode. Feeding the fangirls and fanboys in it! X3
Honestly this show was fantastic. The only reason people dislike this show is that older, close-minded fans think it was too different from 03 and 12 versions of tmnt, but considering 87 version is a comedy too I don’t see why that’s a problem. The characters are likable, the visuals are always gorgeous, and the jokes are honestly a lot better that what I would’ve expected, hell, there’s even character development both as the focus and in the background. The other thing this show does well is relationships, I genuinely love just watching the brothers interact. They all feel so natural compared to other incarnations, and I’m saying this as a big fan of both 03 and 12. Thank you for making this video, Rise honestly don’t deserve the hate it got before the show even aired.
True. By 2003 and 2012 version was bothering me theyer relationship to each other as brothers was for my opinion not really good what I would expacte by siblings. And I like that splinter on like in the other versions dosen't seam only prefer "perfect student" Leo, he love all his sons in the same way. In the other version I have seen so far was it always the fealing he only like his perfect student and the other well yea they are there to.
This show is incredible. I childishly refused to watch it initially because of the style shift, but I gave it a chance and I'm honestly so glad I did. The character personalities are refreshing and suit the characters very well! Even Splinter, who I saw and immediately went 'Ewww', grew on me very quickly and is now my favourite version of Splinter out of all of them. This is the one TMNT show where I actually want them to interact with humans MORE. The humour is great, the animation is FANTASTIC, the villains have depth and are hilarious. I feel like I'm being robbed here, because I was looking forward to so many more seasons of this show. I absolutely loved 2k12 (for the most part) but I don't think it can compare with this show. Please save the damn show. I already lost Bunnicula's season 4 :(
I still can’t believe this dumb premise of bootleg daredevil with turtles has created 4 spectacular animated series all with completely different types of storytelling and tones and yet they all feel good. Really hope this one is given another shot.
I love how in this series they all act like an actual family, and they even tell each other “I love you” and call Splinter their Dad. Also, I love that subtle character development where the Turtles learn to trust and respect Splinter more, while Splinter learns to accept them for who they are. The animation is top notch too 👍. I hope Marvel could animate in this style.
People hate it because of the designs and how terrible they are. But I never watched it (it seems like I'm not alone). But it never seemed interesting, also I forgot it existed.
I love Rise of the TMNT it doesn't deserve the hate it get and the thing most people never put two and two together about is the first word of the title "RISE" which means it's an origin story showing how the turtles became the turtles we know. Even the creators during a behind the scenes video talking about the show said that " The story follows the turtles as they become the turtles you know and love". But thanks again to people whining and complaining saying "This ruined my childhood" or " It's different therefore ruined" and Nickelodeon's neglect the show ended. I really hope Netflix picks it up after the movie or something.
I always resented why people hated the show so much the one and most logical answer was because they were still upset about 2012’s ending and having another show come out the year after really put more sting on the wound.
Man I found this today lmao. I watched the 2012 and liked it. And then I came across this: these 4 teenagers that actually act like teenagers. And I just realized from the first 2 episodes that they're on the path to mature. I mean, they didn't know how to fight from the start. Raph was the leader before Leo took over. Sometimes you just gotta... take a step back.
I have never been so angry at Nickelodeon before, this phenomenal show was cancelled ONE YEAR INTO ITS RUN TIME, yes it was cancelled in October 2019 and the people who worked on the show had to pretend that nothing happened for almost a whole year, since they weren’t allowed to say anything about it One of the writers said that they were forced to compile 13 episodes and probably a 3rd season into a 1 hour finale, in only SIX WEEKS. That's ridiculous! The writer also said that one episode takes about 11 to 12 weeks to make, so this was just cruel to the crew who worked so hard on the show. The pacing was rushed because the people who worked on the show were RUSHED. They deserve to tell the stories that they want to share about the turtles, please #saverottmnt
@@fernandobanda5734 thats uh, not the point. yea its shitty, i dont doubt that, but saying its better means nothing when this show was treated like garbage like other good shows. thats just not fair

I won't lie, I got teary eyed watching this review, it felt nice hearing someone say good things about this show. This iteration is the best in my eyes. The animation is so fluid, the characters many interactions with each other and different characters feels so natural, just everything your saying is what we've been saying! So many of us love Rise, we're fighting to save it, we're trying every day to get the show back and let the creators tell the story THEY wanted to tell. The show's abrupt ending came at us like a slap to the face, and our blood boiled learning the Rise crew had to cram a seasons worth of content into the 4 part season finale. They had so much planned for Rise just...they didn't get to tell it. Sorry I rambled and if this makes little sense, but I care about Rise so much, a lot of us do. Rise of the TMNT is definitely a show worth watching and saving.
The animation in this show was Studio Trigger good, the fights were nuts and the scale was amazing, also it's the first time I can recognize the turtles by sillouette alone and at first glance
Some haters just dissed the character designs with excuses like “bad art style” & “Raph is the stereotypical muscules with a tough personality” even though 1. Art style is subjective & 2. Raph is a snapping turtle (they’re already large turtles!) I’m so glad fans like you recognise excellent character design with silhouettes. Considering TMNT always had the brothers looking almost the exact same, it really is a giant breath of fresh air 😇
Hellos from August 2022, the movie is out on Netflix. It’s amazing, and seems to be getting fans up and doing a lot of legwork to get this show back. I recently heard of whispers that a season 3 might be comping but it’s small hope. The more everyone talks about it the better chance it has. After you watch through the show and movie, make a habit of putting it on in the background. If we bloat the views enough. We might just get it.
I'll admit, I was one of those many people who didn't give this show a fair chance when it was revealed and I had already decided it was shit before I even watched it. Thanks for making this video, I'll have to check this show out soon.
I honestly never heard of this show until this month, and I got say, I loved it! The only reason I can imagine that people aren't talking as much about it is because of the lack of advertising. This show is beautiful and funny and wholesome and I blame Nickelodeon for it's demise. Netflix do what you always do my dude,we need you now.
@@karenevans3497 because it was absurdly rushed and the show was sabotaged from the beginning. The second and last season had many more episodes planned. Like we’re missing 13 at least. But out of nowhere the crew was told “you’re canceled. Wrap it up ASAP.” And they had to rush at least half a season into four episodes. That’s why we’re livid.
16:26 GOOD NEWS *I came from the future, THE CASEY WE ALL KNOW & LOVE APPEARS IN THE MOVIE & IT WAS PHENOMENAL, EASY MY FAVORITE TAKE ON THE CHARACTER; & HIS DESIGN IS SO GOOD*
Honestly, this is the first incarnation of TMNT that I've genuinely liked all the way through. The characters and story were complex and fun enough to keep my attention, and the animation was impressive. I think that changing things is a good way to bring in new fans, especially if they stay true enough to the source material to keep the old ones. I think people need to give reboot shows like this a chance instead of automatically assuming they'll be terrible. I mean, lots of reboots are terrible, but at least I've come to that conclusion myself by watching them. DuckTales is another good example- I've been a fan of the classic DT since I was little, and went into the reboot open-minded. In return, I got one of my favorite shows of all time. Now this delightful version of Ninja Turtles is joining it on my list. I never thought I'd like TMNT- but BOY was I wrong. Goes to show that giving an unconventional show a chance just might be the best decision ever. #SaveRotTMNT!!
I’m shocked that not a lot of people liked “The Batman” since I really enjoyed it and thought it was a really good show that had good takes on the characters
@@yoshidinono8095 joker wasn’t though. Is it cause his VA was black? Only reason I could see you even considering he was Jamaican. I enjoyed that Joker plenty. Kevin Michael Richardson did a great job voicing him. The show itself deserves more attention. It and the creator’s earlier cartoon Jackie Chan Adventures are two favorites of my childhood.
I got into this show recently and am sad I wasn’t around when this was happening to help!! I literally only found out about it this year and haven’t heard anyone talking about it until now… The story telling of how each character came into themselves along with the beautiful animation, and witty(sometimes silly) humor made it a true masterpiece. I’m so sad to see that it may forever stay as two seasons and a movie with no real traction for more content.. I feel like with more time all of the world building you Hoped for could have been explored more.. and I would have loved to see more of the gang having silly adventures with all of the new skills they gained by the end of the show/movie..
I love how this show just removed the toxic masculinity trope on the characters. The brothers aren't drama jerks to eachother, they actually love eachother, yes the fight and rough house but all siblings do that, they aren't toxic a holes they are normal teenagers (as normal as turtle mutants are the is lmao)
I honestly tried getting into this show but the most difficult part for me was that nick themselves were barely airing any episodes. So not only was no one talking about it but nick themselves didn’t even seem to want to talk about it
"My cold black heart expels some dust when the turtles call Splinter their dad in any canon," thank you for representing me i feel so valid and so seen
I want it to come back so bad. I dont like cartoons a lot but when I do, it's well made. It reminds me of the avatar, invader zim and samurai jack days. Please save this version of TMNT...
You being kinda harsh on 2003 Leo tho. I mean c'mon the guy literally had PTSD because of their final battle with Shredder when the turtles were ready to die and survived only because of sheer luck. He was feeling so guilty that he started to put pressure on everyone by making them train harder. In the end Leo desided that Splinters teachings are not enough and he need find more experienced master. There he realized that he needs to let go of his guilt and after months of training returned as a better fighter and leader. Sure 2012 show made him earn his role and rise showed his potential for leadership but 2003 turtles showed how hard and difficult the role of a leader really is
Yeah, I totally agree. Nickelodeon has cancelled so many shows, and just when this show is having an upcoming Netflix movie. We have to boycott Nickelodeon in order for their shows to have increasing success. After all, "The Fairly Oddparents", "PigGoatBananaCricket", "Welcome to the Wayne", and "Rainbow Butterfly Unicorn Kitty" have also been dumped into the Nicktoons channel and they have suffered low ratings, all because Nickelodeon find "Spongebob Squarepants" and "The Loud House" the only entertaining animated shows.
Well The Fairly Oddparents ran on for 16 years and that was suffering either way the last 2 seasons proved that the show was dead, so I say they did what was right with the Fairly Oddparents. After all it had tons of chances to end back then. The same time Jimmy Neutron ended should of been the end of the line for the Fairly Oddparents. So just pretend that the Fairly Oddparents ended after season 5 back in 2006.
@@beastgamer7727 TMNT 2012 wasn't cancelled; The story just closed up. In fact why do we wine about Nickelodeon cancelling every new show when they've been doing this for years now. I mean It's Pony got a 2nd season coming next year, but just saying if it does get canned in 2 years from now, I wouldn't be shocked to hear y'all complain as always again😒. I mean we do have the right to share our own feelings, but when you have been doing it to the same network for about 2 decades since the Spongebob era, it gets kinda old don't y'all think and it really isn't there fault for the cancellation of TMNT 2018, the critics is what made Nickelodeon decided not to care about it anymore and they were tired of the negative reviews they were getting so they had to do what needed to be done. End of story.
I honestly love this show. It shows a more lighthearted style to the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I mean don't get me wrong the 2012 will always be my favorite out of all of them, but ROTTMNT comes a close second, because it is more magic based and more deeply layered than the others, with twists and turns where you never expect it, like Big Mama being Splinters ex girlfriend. Now I definitely didn't see that come. It's just such a breath of fresh air to the franchise that was long overdue
I will admit I was one of those naysayers and doubted the the show, but gave it a chance. This was my answer...THIS SHOW IS INCREDIBLE!!! It is unbelievably hilarious, the animation is superb, and the writing of the characters is fantastic. I was a little skepticle about how the characters were not portrayed in there usual tropes, but I dint even mind after a watching a few episode’s. This show is amazing and deserves another chance! 🐢🐢🐢
Man, I'm very glad you're talking about this show, since it does not get enough credit for being a fun, fresh take on the franchise. I'm a huge TMNT fan too, and I think this show is definitely up there as one of the best incarnations. My brother and I were screaming when the finale happened bc it was legit some of the hypest television I've watched in a long while.
I’ve never seen this show, Ninja Turtles was a franchise I never got into, but I hate it when shows get cancelled for no real reason. Nickelodeon has had a habit of doing this in recent years, mostly with original shows, and it’s a huge disservice to the team who worked in them: writers, director, producers, storyboard artists, animators, actors etc. I know money is the end goal with every product, but that doesn’t mean the people behind the products are all thinking about that; some people, genuinely, want to make the best thing they can and it sucks when all that passion is thrown away because “ratings” or corporate bullshit to eliminate the show. Hopefully, this show is resurrected and TMNT fans can rejoice.
Yo, if you wanna check out the carteen the first like 5 episodes are on youtube straight up! I wish I had acces to legit sources to support creators but it's not really available in my country ;--;
@Broly Rulez529 I agree with you abt how sometimes stuff gets dragged out, but that ending was so rushed and there were still so many loose ends that I'm sure were gonna get tied up neatly so it just feels not right to me. But you are still completely valid
@Broly Rulez529 I can see where you're coming from , but I'm sorry I just really want to see more of this iteration , it felt far too incredible to be this short lived.
Recommend it to other anime fans. I am amazed the community isn't jumping on this. I hear so many people talking about how there aren't enough good anime fights out there, but they're sleeping on Rise.
Response to the Ben 10: Omniverse joke: the reason Cartoon Network pushed the last few seasons to borderline-unwatchable time slots is because the ratings weren't satisfactory, so the hope was that they could make back the money in tax revenue by purposely giving the show worse ratings
I hate the fact that from the very beginning this show wasn't given a chance because of how hard it is to even watch it. It was litterally set up to fail by Nick in so many ways when it deserved so much more.
That because too many people are still living in their notalgia trip. Those people refuse to see something that isn't their version of their fav show and force to remove it because my show was better even if their version isn't hold up today.
@@DracosKasurani Yeah I get that. But I feel like people should be a lot more respectful of others opinions and if they don't like it than to just leave it alone. I know a lot of people within the ROTTMNT fandom who let the other TMNTs exist, and are even apart of the last litterations. I just don't understand how people can be rude to others or even a fandom just because it's not something you necessarily like. I don't know, everything just seemed unfair from the get go. But at least Rise is on Paramount+! It has a better chance at recognition now!
Now that it’s on Netflix I hope it can come back. My kids, ages 4 to 10, all love it and have rewatched it multiple times. It’s all of their favorite versions of the turtles
After John Cena, I've heard Roger Craig Smith played the original villain and since Ben Schwartz was Leo in this show so you can jokingly say we saw Sonic vs Sonic fight
this makes me sad that you made this vid 2 years ago. the movie was amazing so maybe we will get a Season 3 after all!!!! I am praying for it! Rise is my favorite iteration of TMNT. It's so refreshing, so well animated, and so well thought out with the story and character development. you can tell the creators of the show truly care about it.
I was skeptical of this show at first because of how it was advertised but I remember catching it and seeing that it was way better than I thought! I was so impressed, the animation blew me the hell away. I hope it can be saved!
As a long time lover of TMNT since the 80’s, I loved this show. I sat and watched it and then loved everything about it from the designs to everything about the villains it just felt good
Dude, This show is so amazing. I just found it, I literally can’t get enough! The show creator said he based all of the turtles “powers” off of ancient Japanese legends (Leo for example having “Izanagi’s” sword which could call any person in his bloodline directly to the blade and create portals: hence why Leo can throw his sword and any of the turtles can switch places)
What happened was a lot of the lore for the mystical yokai world and backstory of Draxum and Big Mama were cut during season 2. It was supposed to be 26 episodes of amazing writing, but Nickelodeon took out half of the listed episodes and forced the writers to cram the finale into four episodes.
I just started watching this, now I understand the hashtag after watching this. Please save this show, it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but give it a chance FOR ONCE! I honestly hope the creators check out the trending hashtag over it!
I'm most afraid of never getting tmnt movies/series that focus as much on the family dynamics as Rise. As much as I love the action, I love tmnt mostly for the family and lore type of things and Rise really managed to focus on those.
I never really thought that RotTMNT looked that bad. I’ve been a fan of the franchise since the 2003 show, and the there have been so many variations over the years that a new face isn’t all that bad. I mean we not only had a new show this past decade, but both a new movie and comic series. I’m glad I stuck with Rise up until the bitter end because it felt like the people who worked on it had a lot of passion for not just the Turtles but animation as a whole.
I miss this show so much the movie is such a great example of what this series couldve become, funny but with sme genuinly serious undertones and eventually a more mature plotline. it has so much heart
I didn't even know this piece of art existed, growing up on anime and American cartoons i give so much awe to the creators animation style to mix the two. It's absolutely beautiful honestly, it's perfectly made.
What I feel this series does well is give us a very different take on the series, while also keeping the turtle's personalities in check. Underneath the comedy, their core traits still remain. Leo, while goofy, is still their leader figure, Raph is still the muscle, Donnie's their tech wizard, and Mickey is their little dude bro support. Even Splinter, who I thought I'd dislike after seeing him in episode 1, actually turned out great. He's not only funny, but a real mentor towards the turtles. And the animation, mother of god. This puts most animated shows on any network to shame with how fantastic it looks in motion, especially during action sequences. Honestly, I'd say it puts a lot of anime to shame. Don't let this show looking different deter you from checking it out. It may feel different at first, but give it a chance and you may end up loving it.
I didn't give Rise a chance originally because the art style and thought it would be like Teen Titans Go. After watching your video I gave it a chance and like it a lot so thank you for highlighting it. TURTLE POWER!!!
I feel the best way to get this show more well known is to spread it to the anime community. Studio Trigger has a massive and passionate fanbase and the community will certainly get the word out on a show that is so heavily inspried by their works (also helps that the animators working there are massive fans of western cartoons).
I really liked how the characters was written and the animation was beautiful. And the way it made its story so unique makes me curious about the lore of the universe. And I cannot believe they cut our timing with Casey so short after that episode. I wanted to se her eventually move pass the Foot and re-intergrate into a normal life.
It really is a shame, I love rise of the tmnt but it's so sad to see how it was cut short. I'm not exaggerating when I say I think this was going to be one of the most important, influential shows in modern television
*"No stop! Don't have fun and enjoy things! This show is bad and should die because Splinter is fat and Raph is too tall and because it changes things even though every TMNT adaptation does that but this one isn't allowed to!"*
Thank you for contributing nothing to the conversation except the most vapid and shallow response possible.
@@moonlitebrite9317 yea basically
They fucked up April(blackwashed her and made her a f***ing kid, which is even worse than her, Casey, and Karai being high-school-age teenagers), Splinter(who's tiny, fat, lazy, and can't even remember the names of his f***ing adopted sons), and the Shredder, and made Raph the leader! I'm sorry to say it folks and if you disagree, fine, but real "TMNT" fans aknowledge "Rise of The TMNT" as the bastardization that it is. If you're going to change something to the point that it's unrecognizable, then you should create a new IP instead.
optimegatrongodzilla have you even watched more than 3 episodes, this show is great.
This show had:
-Unique designs
-unique and refreshing plot
-the best comedy
-great character interactions
-the best animation that even rivals and surpasses some of the best looking animes.

@@-Ca1y3b_Iz_Ind3ciziv3- UH… YES?! 🫵🫵
You put it into words-
2 years late but I want to add that Mikey and Donnie actually being relevant is beyond refreshing.
Like they saw the concepts that kept repeating and went "Cool, now what if we did this, this time?"
Mikey's usually my favorite in every iteration, just cuz he was the one to be in the least amount of fights, but Leo was my fav by farrrr in Rise. Something about the dynamics Leo has with his competitiveness is just so fun, lol.

The difference between Rise and Teen Titans Go is that Rise has amazing fan service, the jokes are hilarious, the voice cast is perfect, the animation is beyond words, amd the story is incredible!
Y E S
There are anime references there
And the characters remain likeable
I really want to see more of thag
Couldn’t have said it better, I LOVE the 2018 weapons!!!💕💕

If you want to know why Rise of the TMNT was abandoned so quickly by Nickelodeon, it’s because the show was greenlit by a different president, and the new one was more focused on episodic, slice of life comedies (it’s also likely why glitch techs was shoved away as well).
Also the movie is coming out 2021
Wait what movie?
Joyner 91 Rise movie coming to Netflix next year hopefully
That was pretty much how Amazon Prime's The Tick died.
@Broly Rulez529 Are there no slice of life shows/anime with action elements as well?
Em why bc was Raph the leader anyway?
@@JIreland1992 because he's the oldest of them all
shimauma that’s stupid. Just because your the oldest doesn’t mean your fit to be a leader.
Shame on Nickelodeon for not giving this show a chance. They only live and breath spongebob and loud house. They made this show so hard to see.

Not if this not another highs school Peter Parker.
with this kind of animation yes but the artstyle no
but spectacular spider man was basically that.
Raphael is still the angry one, but with a twist; he isn’t rude or snarky, in fact he’s more like a lug nut who cares about his brothers but also has anger issues
I haven’t seen much about Mikey or Donnie but from what I can tell Mikey is pretty much the same and Donnie is still the tech guy
Donnie is still the tech guy but what happens to the tech guy when mystic powers are added into the mix? It’s why I love “Witch Town” so much, it’s a small moment for don but it explains his insecurity about his place on the team
Mikey…I haven’t watched TMNT iterations other than 2018 (yet) so I cant compare him since I haven’t heard much about his characters in previous versions
I really like Splinter's development. The body dysphoria after mutation and letting himself go. It took the turtles to snap him out of it. Also his past with Big Mama. Past Splinters didn't have that much at all. I love our himbo ratman
“My 11 year old sister is 13 now”
*Hold Up*
HAHAha YEAH I reacted to that!

You are absolutely correct when you said Rise was the Into the Spiderverse of animated series'. It IS, and it deserves SO MUCH MORE PRAISE FOR IT
Honestly this show was fantastic.
I wouldn't say I hate it but it didn't really appeal to me. My sister's kids like it though.
That's not why I hate it

Their chemistry as brothers is literally the best I've ever seen
I already lost Bunnicula's season 4 :(

it's not funny, all have 1 personality, some don't and the plot sucks
I watched it. I tried. Couldn’t finish three 11 min episodes.
I watched it and it sucks
This doesn’t change any of those criticisms. The art style still sucks. And April still isn’t supposed to be black. This did nothing.
Yup it's sad
I always resented why people hated the show so much the one and most logical answer was because they were still upset about 2012’s ending and having another show come out the year after really put more sting on the wound.
@@PlatinumKnight-je3vy oh ok
If I dont even like this version of the turtles then I'm not going to love where they end up
Man I found this today lmao.
I have never been so angry at Nickelodeon before, this phenomenal show was cancelled ONE YEAR INTO ITS RUN TIME, yes it was cancelled in October 2019 and the people who worked on the show had to pretend that nothing happened for almost a whole year, since they weren’t allowed to say anything about it
One of the writers said that they were forced to compile 13 episodes and probably a 3rd season into a 1 hour finale, in only SIX WEEKS.
It's still better than shows that don't get a finale.
@@fernandobanda5734 thats uh, not the point. yea its shitty, i dont doubt that, but saying its better means nothing when this show was treated like garbage like other good shows. thats just not fair

It's hilarious how Nick can put out a show with this much style and killer animation but Disney of all places can't be assed to make a halfway decent looking Spider-Man show.

April isn’t black. This show sucks
Delta Assault its about personality NOT race.
@Dylan Woods people cry about shows and movies all the time, stories, books, etc. What's so bad about that?
Same, people are blind because their nostalgia, this show it's amazing and it need to be saved
@@lordofweirdness4714 No it's about every part of the character. The character isn't black. Fact.
Raph is a snapping turtle (they’re already large turtles!)
I’m so glad fans like you recognise excellent character design with silhouettes.
I would adore more of Rise! It just sucks that Nick doesn't know how to market a show properly
At least the show ended so why still be pissed off.
@@karenevans3497 ending was really rushed
They do, the show has to have a yellow sponge who wears square pants though
@@karenevans3497 because it was absurdly rushed and the show was sabotaged from the beginning. The second and last season had many more episodes planned. Like we’re missing 13 at least. But out of nowhere the crew was told “you’re canceled. Wrap it up ASAP.” And they had to rush at least half a season into four episodes. That’s why we’re livid.

*I came from the future, THE CASEY WE ALL KNOW & LOVE APPEARS IN THE MOVIE & IT WAS PHENOMENAL, EASY MY FAVORITE TAKE ON THE CHARACTER; & HIS DESIGN IS SO GOOD*
Honestly, this is the first incarnation of TMNT that I've genuinely liked all the way through.
I’m still surprised people still hate Beware the Batman as well. It would’ve been a bigger hit today now that people binge-watch shows.
I think people hated it for being a poor man’s version of the 90s cartoon
I didn't like "The Batman." Joker is not Jamaican.
People didn't like it because it wasn't a copy and paste of BTAS
I don't want this show to end so soon.. I literally just started watching a few days ago and fell in love almost immediately.
Yuck
And they actually act like teenagers for once witch I love
You sound insane.
This show is gorgeous, energetic, colourful and genuinely funny I can't believe its being cancelled so soon.
I honestly tried getting into this show but the most difficult part for me was that nick themselves were barely airing any episodes. So not only was no one talking about it but nick themselves didn’t even seem to want to talk about it
The majority of it is now on Netflix, and Paramount+ has every episode too!
In my opinion this show is a over hated gem that should be save because this is one of the more heart felt versions of the tmnt so far
When this show was announced...

Sure 2012 show made him earn his role and rise showed his potential for leadership but 2003 turtles showed how hard and difficult the role of a leader really is
Shredder is so scary, wouldn't wanna deal with him either
Even 2007 Leonardo had a problem of being the leader and he was sent away to brazil for years now in that universe😢
They cancelled two great tmnt shows, TWO!!😭😭😫😭
@@beastgamer7727 TMNT 2012 wasn't cancelled; The story just closed up. In fact why do we wine about Nickelodeon cancelling every new show when they've been doing this for years now. I bet y'all gonna complain more when It's Pony gets cancelled in 2-3 years from now because y'all got nothing better to do but rant on the decisions the networks make are working.
I love how all the shows he picked that weren't the same are loved by fans and are good.
They weren't loved when they first came out, that took a while
I honestly love this show.
Yup i don't know why
Nick's logic is that if it isn't SpongeBob or the Loud House then it has to be canceled,Nickelodeon just needs to put these shows out of their misery

Response to the Ben 10: Omniverse joke: the reason Cartoon Network pushed the last few seasons to borderline-unwatchable time slots is because the ratings weren't satisfactory, so the hope was that they could make back the money in tax revenue by purposely giving the show worse ratings
Dang 😱
To be honest I really liked Omniverse
This show is so amazing.
Holy cow 🐮 that crazy epic!!!

It's really good if you don't expect it do fit into standard TMNT formula, definetely worth a try
This show is awful. It’s worse than Bay Ninjas.
@Dylan Woods don't worry, they haven't even watch it
It's pretty good!!! It's refreshing to the franchise
"Well Leo since you sell the least action figures" says DONATELLO

Only two seasons? Screw that, a show this awesome and funny deserves at least three more seasons
Man the design of the turtles are just my favorite, makes them distinguish themselves from one another.
This is one of my two favorite TMNT shows. I like this show and the 2012 show. I would love for it to keep going.
This is my favorite April O’Neil. She seems like an actual friend of the turtles.
It really is a shame, I love rise of the tmnt but it's so sad to see how it was cut short. I'm not exaggerating when I say I think this was going to be one of the most important, influential shows in modern television
"props for not making her kiss any of them tho-" broooooooo period.
