    I absolutely love the accurate descriptions as you taste things. Just like Andrew Zimmern on Bizarre Foods, you have a unique talent for verbally deconstructing foods in such a way that the watcher can almost perfectly imagine what you're eating. Fun, fun!! So glad we found your channel. My kids watch you, too.

    Kaseke means birch tree in Estonian. We collect birch water in spring (we make a small hole and collect the water that comes out) so the tree is quite important to us.

      Eesti omad on väga head. Proovi näiteks Soome kummikomme, ja muid-jube.... Ja paljud slaavi(vene-ukraina jne) kommid on ikka kordades magusamad. Muidugi euronormidega kahjuks tase kordades alla tõmmatud. Mäletan veel,kui komeedi komm oli lahtiselt ja värskelt said,siis ikka oli hääää.

    • @Dakadashi
      @Dakadashi 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Komeeti saab siiani lahtiselt, aga tuleb teada, kust saab. Maitse on parem, kui individuaalselt pakendatud kommidel, aga siiski nõrgem, kui varasemalt.

    Hi Emmy!
    So the Mõnus Maius is a puffed corn with toffee!
    Teekonna is translated in to Journey (hence the on the package)
    Ananassi is literally pineapple and is supposed to taste like one.
    Tiina is a blackcurrant marmalade filled.
    Komeet is Comet.
    Kaseke is a Birch tree, hence the white and black packaging and is mainly made from stuff called Kama - a mixture of roasted barley, rye, oat and pea flour
    Tõmmu is basically translated as dark.
    Mesikäpp is "honeypaw", hence the bear.
    ))))))

    Great to see you eating Estonia, Emmy :) I'm also an Estonian (though I live in Finland now - and I do like salmiakki ;) ), and a while ago I actually searchd if you had Estonia-video, but didn't find anything back then.
    Kalev is the biggest and oldest confectionery in Estonia, and it is hugely popular. Kaseke is def one of my favourites from them, though it's hard to find what it is exactly - their website just says it's milky bar with cocoa. And Mõnus Maius is absolutely heavenly - I hope the quality is still the same though, I haven't had it in a long while. :)

    Kalev company likes to use random names on their sweets. There are human names as Tiina, Mari, Lily etc, there are" Komeet" as Comet in English, "Teekonna" as road trip or journey or similar to that, "mesikäpp" directly translated as honeypaw (honey=mesi and paw=käpp) (nickname of bear)

    Yaay!! Finally you made a video about my country, Estonia :)!! "Kaseke" is one of my favourite chocolate candies. We call that kind of texture "batoon" (in your case Kaseke and Mesikäpp are both batoonid) which is quite different from chocolate covered candies. And the brand "Kalev" is veeeery popular here because it has a long history and very fine quality!

    Soft and sweet Kaseke candies have been a part of the Kalev product selection for decades already. The nicely milky taste of the baton candies is balanced by the slightly bitter nuance of the added cocoa, which makes them favourites for children and grown-ups alike.

    Kaseke means birch in a pampering way, you can see it from the packaging but the candy does not have anything to do with the birch tree! I love your videos :)

    Dad says the marmelaadi (or the Romanian version of it, marmelada) is made of fruit that has been boiled and simmered until it reaches the consistency of a paste. He says usually rest of fruits are used, not necessary the fresh package. Sort of like a jam, but not using the good parts. To me it looks like marmite/vegemite, the same browny color, but it has a slightly tougher consistency due to jello. Despite knowing what it's made of, it's really yummy and it's an old fashioned treat here. Go Eastern Europe! :P

      Actually in Estonia the soft marmalade in the contents of the candy is made of the jellifier Estagar from the Baltic Sea red alga Furcellaria.

    Hey!
    Greetings from Estonia, I was so excited when I saw this. Also, the Tiina candy, it's actually not fruit flavor. It's supposed to be rum-flavored.
    As for Kaseke, is't supposed to be a mix of milk and chocolate.

    I always thought of Kaseke as a candy with small nut pieces in it. It reminds me of that version of Mesikäpp (this one has a version like the Ananassi as well), except that one tastes, in my opinion, more chocolately than Kaseke. Personally I like Kaseke better though.
    I hope you enjoyed sweets from Estonia, jätku leiba/head isu!

    The candy "Teekonna" you tried is made up from production leftovers, really. It means that everything that has not been used in other products, leftovers, surplus etc is squeezed into that one bar, they add a little other stuff as well. During soviet times, that candy was very popular and it still is.
