the way she pronounced the Finnish words was actually pretty good for a foreign :D nice! Btw, Finnish is one of the hardest languages to master, along Chinese and few other languages,
Not sure if you knew but Moomin or "Muumit" as it's called here was originally created and illustrated (in her books) by a Finn called Tove Jansson and was originally released in a form of nine books and five picture books. The popular TV-series from the early 90's is actually a Dutch-Finnish-Japanese production. We even have a theme park here in Finland dedicated to the Moomin (Muumit)! Also your pronounciation of Finnish is really good, wow!
Ovat varmaankin epäluulosia :/ juustopallotkin menevät 2-5 palloa kerralla. Ja muutenkin kaikki karkit kokonaisina suuhun. Siitäkin selviää maistelemalla, ett mitä karkki sisältää.
Jeps. Itsekin silloin tällöin ostan uutuus-karkkeja tai vanhempiakin karkkeja joita en ole viel maistanut. Enimmäkseen ostan vain niitä joista tykkään.
Emmy you're such a kind and genuinely sweet person. Listening to you has a calming effect and makes me happy whenever I'm feeling blue. I hope you'll always be like this, what a lovely childhood your son must have. I wish you all the best.
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol. So it just doesn't prevent bacteria from sticking to your gums but it's actually anti-bacterial in nature. Very few chewing gums in finland are flavoured with cane sugar, Xylitol and Sorbitol is the norm. So chewing that stuff daily doesn't rot your teeth, it does the opposite.
I got to correct you a little there. Finland is not actually a part of Scandinavia, but there's this term called Fennoscandia and Finland is a part of that thingy. Just so you know it correctly.
TheErspa I'm going to need a little bit more info than just saying this. What is the difference between scandinavian country and being a part of scandinavia? There is a lot of discussion whether Finland actually is a scandinavian country or not but I don't really get the point in that. Doesn't a scandinavian country require being part of that mountain range?
TheErspa I did check it out and found that Finland is not a part of scandinavia nor it is a scandinavian country. Also there is no difference between a scandinavian country and being part of scandinavia. All this info is from norden.org/en/the-nordic-region/language
You can actually visit the Fazer factory (although you have to be with a group). A few years ago you could go inside the actual factory and eat all the sweets fresh, but not anymore :/ (hygiene reasons i believe). But you get free sweets, xylitol gums (which are very popular in finland) and some other products from the Fazer bakery. Also a tour of the factory and you get to go to the factory shop where you can get everything cheaper and also some sweets you only get from the factory. I've been there two or three times, it's awesome :)!
here's some trivia: Finland is not part scandinavia, moomin's origin comes from finland, pätkis doesn't have chocolate in it, and my fav trivia, Pätkis is made out of chocolate leftovers/odd-come-short in Fazer candy factory
deggis4 xylitol was discovered* and if we think that way, gum is thousands of years old product, so xylitol gum is more like developed gum, not gum which was invented or created. Why couldn't chemicals be invented? for example paint is a chemical and it was invented by someone. badumtss. in ur face. ;D
The way we pronounce Moomin (Muumit in finnish) is ムウミ in katagana. The beauty with finnish to japanese and vice versa is that they're both phonetic languanges, so pronouncing the others languange is super easy for us finns and japanese. :)
Oh my god this lady is ADORABLE! I love your descriptions. My family is from Finnish descent. My aunt used to send us candy for Christmas. But if only you could try the baked homemade goods! They're the best.
There is only one kind of salmiakki that I actually enjoy like crazy: Fazer Super Salmiakki. If it's not "super", it's ick. Anyone else notice how it tastes really different from all the orher salmiakki treats?
Because us Finns are insane. Salmiakki is basically liquorice spiced with ammonium chloride...which has some dubious application eg mainly used for fertilizers. but it is yummy.
foreigners aren't just not used to the taste of salmiakki. I think that most finnish kids don't like it either but when they grow up eating salmiakki once in a while they get used to it and it doesn't taste so bad anymore. atleast I was like that when I was a kid but now I love salmiakki. :)
You pronounce Finnish very well. It's actually quite easy to pronounce if you speak Japanese. And it's just Muumi - or Moo-me, without the n, as it's in English or Japanese Moomin.
Hi Emmy! :) I'm a girl from Finland. I watched all your Emmy eats Finland-videos and fell in love with your delightful personality. U seem beautiful inside and out. my favorite candy is also Pätkis. ♡
I haven't seen cheese balls in a can for a long time. I remember those too. Walmart they have this huge plastic jar of cheese puffs. My daughter always asks me to buy one when we go to Walmart, I just roll my eyes at her and say no. lol. It is huge! She would eat all of them in one sitting.
Fazer the chocolate company whose chocolates you tasted in the vid even lets school kids go to their factory to see how it's all made aswell to taste all their chocolate products in whats basically just a buffet of chocolate, me and my like 5th grade class went there we had this system where when we did really good on school things we got points and after we had enough points we got to go the the fazer factory it was awesome
Now really wish you could give me that salmiakki that everyone seems to spit out. All of the stuff taste good, but actually had some and they don't come in very big packages here(if can find them). Finnish friend of mine told me about it, so had to try it one day and at first made a face from the strength, but after getting used to the strength, it's really good.
Ahh those nacho cheese balls are my ultimate guilty pleasure! I always wonder how people outside Finland cope without Fazer chocolate and candies, they are simply the best!

Salmiakki is salmiakki, it's not liquorice. Liquorice is a completely different confection. It's just that the english language doesn't have a word for it.
I adore the crisps! They have it in Sweden as well but in sweet chilli flavour. The good part is that it's actually healthy because it's 100% full grain!
I randomly stumbled upon your video and I love it. You have such a soothing speaking voice and I really like the way you describe all the foods and their flavors. I will definitely be watching more of your videos!

No xylitol in the states?? Here in Sweden it is more rare to find chewing gums with sugar like hubba bubba... It's xylitol in almost each and every gum...
...Oh, salmiakki. I'm Finnish and even I hate it. XD Honestly, I have no idea how people can like candy that tastes like cough drops. Yes, people. It tastes like ammonium i.e. cough medicine. Or toothpaste. Take your pick. Tervaleijona are a special kind of candy that actually taste pretty good - these are candies with an artificial tar flavoring. ...As in wood tar, not the oil one. There's even a Finnish saying that goes "If tar, liquor and sauna don't help, the disease is fatal." Pihlaja candies (also called "kettukarkki" / "fox candy" due to the logo) are also really good - they're a very old brand from 1895 and still being made. They're a sort of marmalade / jelly thing with a sugar coating. I usually hate sweet food and candy, but the Pihlaja are just too good~
same! I always thought the reason why I don't really like salty-licorice eli salmiakki koska mä oon puoleks suomalainen, i was born in Finland, mutta asun new yorkissa and ive practically grown up in the USA, but I'm very well cultured with finland, I always go back every summer, I'm obviously bilingual and all but one thing-well actually even 2 things- mistä suomalaiset yleensä tykkää on saunominen and salmiakki- at least now I know I'm not some half-cultured brat hating on salmiakki
You pronounce Finnish fully correctly! (have you secretly studied somewhere??) It's so nice to see people liking our sweets -- I'm starting too to appreciate their quality, the more I see these videos.
thats basicly because no one ever notices us finns XD and when someone finally does.. well it's so strange..so.. thats why :DD we kinda think that foreingers dont even know that finland exists :D
totta.totta. vastasin vaan ku joku ihmettelee kovin miks kaikki kuuluttaa et ne on suomesta. just siks, koska suomee ei koskaa mainita missää, ja ku jossai vihdoin, ni omaghh sehän on ihmeellistä ja pakko ihquttaa kaikil et tääl onki yks suomalaine. like somebody would give a fuck. samaa mieltä.
Try ruissipsi as a salty snack. Cut thin fresh salted salmon slices. Make some filling. Fresh cheese, chipped onion, little vasabi, fresh dill. Mix, put on salmon slices and maked them rolls. Put on ruissipsi and enjoy. With some beer of wine.......good.
Salmiakki on parasta.
those are our country's candy and it really means a lot to me that someone makes a video that has at least 5 things from here (note: yes that means I am IN finland )
Hey I'm just being realistic about where we actually stand. Mostly our fault really. Years of neutrality and striving to stand as the Switzerland of the North continues to bite us in the arse.
They sell the Sour Cream thingies in Estonia as well and I agree, they're amazing! I don't know if the States has.. I guess it's 'egg butter'? It's like made of egg yolks, something put in it and then blended, so it's really creamy and you could use it as a spread, like the thing in stuffed eggs basically - anyway it's absolutely amazing with that!
Those SukuLaku bars, as a small kid, I always used to eat the dark part first and save the chocolate part last :) Marianna is one of my all time favorite candy and I wouldn't change finnish milk chocolate to anything else!
Nice to see you liked our snacks :) You should also try chokolade bar called Kismet since it's been around here for decades, Brunberg's Suukko biscuits and suukko means kiss btw. and chokolade raisins. But all in all, that was a pretty comprehensive collection of goodies there!

It's so nice to see people liking our sweets -- I'm starting too to appreciate their quality, the more I see these videos.
Trust me, Finnish food is often really great too and salmiakki is delicious.
Salmiakki and laku ...They are not The same Candy xD
It´s so funny how all Finnish people inform the rest of the world how they are from Finland. Like someone would actually give a fuck. =)
thats basicly because no one ever notices us finns XD and when someone finally does.. well it's so strange..so.. thats why :DD we kinda think that foreingers dont even know that finland exists :D

Awesome video you really have a smooth talking accent! And grretings from Finland!!
Mä en ymmärrä mikä tossa salmiakissa on niin ihmeellistä :DD
Who’s watching this is 2019?
Salmiakki on parasta.

Love watching your face when you eat licorice anything. You are so awesome to eat it even when you know you don't like it!
Finland isn't quite a Scandinavian country :)
Finally someone came out and said it :D Finland, not quite scandinavian, not quite baltic, not really former soviet, not quite european. Outsiders.
well, fuck you too :(
Hey I'm just being realistic about where we actually stand. Mostly our fault really. Years of neutrality and striving to stand as the Switzerland of the North continues to bite us in the arse.
well you can F*UCK yourself .
Mikko Kallio
I do frequently. Keeps you healthy.

Moomins were invented in finland

They sell the Sour Cream thingies in Estonia as well and I agree, they're amazing! I don't know if the States has.. I guess it's 'egg butter'? It's like made of egg yolks, something put in it and then blended, so it's really creamy and you could use it as a spread, like the thing in stuffed eggs basically - anyway it's absolutely amazing with that!
I'm from Finland and i love finnish food! :D I love your videos!
GO TO FINLAND skandinavia...

Why she can't eat Finnland
Finland*
SUOMI FINLAND PERKELE TORILLA TAVATAAN!
Those SukuLaku bars, as a small kid, I always used to eat the dark part first and save the chocolate part last :)
Marianna is one of my all time favorite candy and I wouldn't change finnish milk chocolate to anything else!
Nice to see you liked our snacks :) You should also try chokolade bar called Kismet since it's been around here for decades, Brunberg's Suukko biscuits and suukko means kiss btw. and chokolade raisins. But all in all, that was a pretty comprehensive collection of goodies there!
