This trip was a blast. It was so fun to get out again after the long winter. I finally have my own canoe so the freedom I felt was incredible. I want to personally thank all of the bugs who were out in full force but where just not ready to bite yet, thanks guys! Anyways I hope you enjoyed the video.
I just subscribed , I like to watch people camping, I camped for many, many years but my age is catching up not doing no more for now.... take care .... Dan from California ....
Thanks for this Dave. I'm exactly where you are re experience. I've solo camped with my kayak for years but bought a canoe this winter. Learning the J stroke but also take my double paddle jic. Glad to see you had a real breakfast as well. Enjoyed the video !
Thanks Mike, ya I've been loving the canoe camping. I'm so glad I picked up a canoe. On long trips I use my double paddle and it's great. I'm slowly getting the j stroke!
great video loved your sincerity like you im a newbie but huge confidence from watching your adventures thank you foe that and for sharing i wish you were irish but il take canadian anyway classssssssssssss
You know what I still do not know what the make of the canoe is. I have tried to find out but no luck so far. I will have to check out Wintertrekker's to see the canoe. thanks.
You may have been doing it, but just in case,. definitely suggest paddling seated backwards in the front seat when soloing a symmetrical tandem canoe...
Thanks Lee. It was peaceful. I use an app with my drone that allows it to follow me. To be honest I do not have an expensive drone so I just try to make it work for me. I wish it was easier to track myself as I love using the drone. Thanks for watchin.
Thanks. This is the Mountain Warehouse 3 person backpacking tent. It's a good tent. I got it on sale for $75. It's not very big but it is not a lightweight tent. So far so good.
Thanks so much!! I absolutely love that you are not using high $$$ gear and are not an expert at these things. I am getting back into the outdoors now that my kids are not really little anymore and I want to pass these values on to them. It’s refreshing to know that I’m not the only “non-expert”.
I was thinking the lake was poisson blanc, but when you said it wasn’t a provincial park, crown land made much more sense. I assume this is in either the Frontenac, or Calabogie/Madawaska area?
Wow welcome back. I have been binge watching Xander Budnick's videos and I noticed you had a new video. So well done. Love the canoe btw. Great little island. Makes me want to try solo canoe camping sometime! Thanks Dave!
Thanks Keith. I am happy to hear you are into camping. It's been a lot of fun for me. I didn't grow up camping as I was a city kid but I love camping now and taking the kids out camping as well.
Thanks, I really liked kayak camping, although I had a small kayak so loading it up with all my gear was tough! ATV camping sounds awesome. Good luck, let me know how it goes.
I really enjoyed this Dave. Especially the care you take in your creative shot selection. I look forward to watching more of your adventures. Happy paddling.
Thank you very much. It was a fun trip to film, lots of great options. I always fight myself over how much to film and when to just chill and enjoy the camping experience, so far the filming is winning! but I will find a balance. Thanks for watich.
Love the Canoe, great name. Get a roll of flex seal tape for that bad boy, just in case. You’re gonna love the Aeropress! Makes me wanna get out and do some overnights, great job!
Missed your video's , welcome back hey don't worry about your canoe strokes I feel your doing well and your self teaching yourself , The double paddle seems to be used more often now I've noticed , but always good to learn they way you are. Gorgeous island camp out. and what a tasty looking supper you made up I being a girl am nervous about solo camping, as i enjoy going to crown land and have always went with a friend. now that friend is not able to do this anymore because of health issues sadly. very enjoyable look forward to more Ontario Canada
Great to see you again Dave!! I grew up canoe camping and backpacking and just loved the video. No worries about fishing, just the fact that you got out on the water made it worth it!! Thanks for the really great video and the astrophotography.
My family enjoyed your video this evening. I am impressed with your videography and editing. We got a canoe this year and planing to do some backcountry canoe camping. Thanks.
What a great spot Dave, an island with no one else around! Perhaps, you could make a video on how you find these amazing spots, I'd be curious to see how you do it! :)
This was lovely and what a beautiful lake. This makes me want to try solo camping. I am not sure about the name of your boat but it did make me laugh. Thanks for sharing.
Hi thanks Kelly, that's okay I am still not sure about the name of my canoe but I am glad it made you laugh! This was a great trip and a lot of fun to film. You should totally give solo camping a try. Start off with some simple car camping and take it from there. Good luck/
Another great & fun video Dave! We just did a 4 day trip in the Frontenac region around the same time you were out. Your audio is always perfect, what do you use? ...just a tad jealous 😉
Thanks Jay. This area was great. Did you film a video of your trip? My audio is not always perfect, far from it but if I have poor audio I just cut it out of the video. I find audio to be so important and it's easy to screw up, especially with that damn wind! I use the Sony a6400 camera with the rode video micro mic, it's very small and affordable.
@@DavidNorthFilms I have 4 days worth of video from 3 different devices to download to my laptop and edit, no easy task. Should have something up in the next week at least.
Dave this is so great!! Loved the nightlapse, loved seeing you on the water, and generally this video is right up my alley! One day we will have to do this together!
Thanks Jack. It was so great to get out filming again after the long winter. This was the perfect spot. I would love to get better at the nightlapses, I think I just don't have the patience for it! If we ever get the chance we should try making a video together!
Haha I see you got hit with the spring peepers. On a group trip to crown land in spring '19, all of our eardrums were absolutely vibrating in our skulls and we had to shout around the campfire. We were on a peninsula in a swamp (oops) and were surrounded 270°. When you spoke of sleeping setups, you mentioned a few like tarp and tent, but omitted your hammock. Not a fan? I got one over the winter and made a DIY underquilt, and used it on crown land last weekend. Best camping sleeps ever for me! Have a hell of a season man!
Ha, ya those things were pretty loud. Are they frogs? I do love hammock camping. Since I started my YT channel last year I have been trying every type of camping. I also tried making my own underquilt for my hammock and it wasn't great so I bought a cheap one and wow what a difference.
Oh man those drone shots were great. How do you not have more subscribers??? Looked like a fantastic trip. My brother and I camped on an island in Lake Ontario years ago and it was terrific. I would be great to see more canoe trips from you in the future. I love a good canoe trip.

Way cool . Thank you.
Great video - you squeezed in everything - canoeing, camping, fishing, cooking, photography, and great story telling. I want your life!
Thanks Dan. this was my first trip of the season, last season and it was my most memorable. It was a great location. thanks for watching.
Your camera work is top notch Mr.👌Keep up the great work👍
thanks for the nice comment, I do love to film and I learn something new on every trip.

Looks like wintertrekers old green canoe
You know what I still do not know what the make of the canoe is. I have tried to find out but no luck so far. I will have to check out Wintertrekker's to see the canoe. thanks.
@@DavidNorthFilms yours reminds me of a ted bell/Wenonah/souris river style. Versus old town or. Swift
Fun trip, awesome food. What lake?
You may have been doing it, but just in case,. definitely suggest paddling seated backwards in the front seat when soloing a symmetrical tandem canoe...
Ya I was sitting backwards. It was fine when I had my gear with me but when I went fishing it was a bit unbalanced.
@@DavidNorthFilms take a extra 10L or 20L drybag along and you put water in it to help you balance your trim then just dump it for the portages
What a beautiful film sir. That opening was fantastic, so beautyful so peaceful. How do yous film yourself with the overhead drone?
Thanks Lee. It was peaceful. I use an app with my drone that allows it to follow me. To be honest I do not have an expensive drone so I just try to make it work for me. I wish it was easier to track myself as I love using the drone. Thanks for watchin.
Enjoying your videos. Love your realistic approach. What kind of tent is that?
Thanks. This is the Mountain Warehouse 3 person backpacking tent. It's a good tent. I got it on sale for $75. It's not very big but it is not a lightweight tent. So far so good.

Yep this was in the Frontenac area. I have heard they had a lot of damage from the big wind storm a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful area.

Great video Dave! I enjoyed it

TL and I are very similar to you. We are new at almost everything. This year we plan on going kayak and ATVing camping. Great looking spot.
