Very nice. You do a great job on your videos. Yes, Conewango only has that one island campsite. And it has the slipperiest mud known to mankind! Tip for the eggs: scramble them up and put them in a little plastic recycled bottle, like the kind you get a small milk or juice from McDonald's in. The lid screws on tight. A little more water in your pancake mix, then cut a small hole in the corner of your plastic bag and squeeze it out into pan, if you didn't already. Great job, love the GoPro, footage looks great. Great edit. We stayed at the lean-to, but came from upstream to your put-in. Sucks that road was not open yet, it usually is. That is a long portage. Just snagged myself a go pro mount like that for my trips! I have always been interested in the Hot Tent Camping. Ill bet its really nice being all warm and toasty on a cold night!
The mount is really useful, you'll like it. Hot tenting was something I wasn't sure I'd be into, but let me tell you it sure is nice warming up the tent when it's cold! I feel spoiled using it. 😆

Hmm, can't remember why I didn't, but I normally do use gear ties to secure the fishing rod to the canoe. I moved the table back because that's its designated spot at the camp and I do my best to leave no trace. Thanks for watching Robert!
I'm just itching for a canoe trip right now. We've been having a rough spring. Each time I think it's over and we get a day of warm weather, it quickly goes away and we face temps below 50 and snow hits the mountains again for another week.
This was on the island site in m on the Conewango Creek which is right near the NY/PA state line. I didn't stay in the lean-to because I wanted to use my wood stove in the tent. Thanks for watching!!
Awesome man!! Go Pro is awesome! Looks like we use the same cookie sheet under our stove lol. Just got back from my first multiday paddle myself! It's on ! Paddler season is here
@@BackcountryPaddler It only dropped down to 30 at night, It wasn't cold enough. I have found when I am hanging out with other people, we just end up hanging out around a campfire. Even when it's real cold. It's a pain in the ass to use when we are traveling from site to site. I brought it because we thought we were going to be paddling in a snow storm on Friday. I figured if we needed to dry out, the stove would be the ticket. I was also testing out some quilts that I know are quite under rated for the conditions I was in. If I got too cold I'd set up the stove. Ended up not needing it at all. I used an old spare cookie sheet. Saved myself from the wrath of the wife.LOL
Probably to give a better view to the viewer watching the video honestly. Next time I go there I'll set it up that way and get the morning river view for myself. 😁
@@BackcountryPaddler Just watched! What an adventure! No fear of a freeze-over. Too large of a lake, and the temps aren't supposed to go much below 27F into the morning. Wind, on the other hand, could be something to worry about on the way out.
@@BackcountryPaddler Got skunked. I was all packed and ready Saturday, but it had been snowing on and off all morning, quite heavy at times. But the biggest concern was random very strong wind gusts. Between crossing the lake, then worrying about potential blow downs, it just seemed like not a good plan. The snow just kept going even through much of today (Monday) Gonna try again this weekend. I really want to try out a combo canoe/hot tent trip.
A whole lotta firsts here: First portage of the season/ first canoe hot tent camping/first time at the island campsite (which was pretty sweet). Any ticks? Thanks Mark!
Great video! You can add masa flour or fritos to soak up extra water. Coffee should be brewed around 190 to not burn the grounds. I would say you need to switch to darker roast. Also it is good idea to preheat french press before adding coffee grounds to maintain the temp during the 1 min and 3 min steep.
I'd suggest a bigger one than what I used in This video. The Luxe Hexpeak is really small. I'm hoping to get a Pomoly tent and stove soon. They appear to be amazing quality from all of the things I've seen and heard from people I trust.
i like that twig stove a lot, but i've never used one. do you need to split the logs? there's plenty of times where those won't split well. do you pack in some fatwood or is the splitting not really necessary, just easier fire management?
It definitely wouldn't hurt. They can be a bit difficult to get lit, especially if the wood is damp. It might not be "bushcraft" but I'd suggest some sort of fire starter as well.
Hey! Have a great time on your first trip and feel free to hit me up for anything you need. I love helping out in those regards! The jacket is a down jacket made by Alpine. Nothing special think I paid $50 for it a few years ago.

@@BackcountryPaddler I have the following... minipeak 2, minipeak XL, octopeak, and twinpeak.
Haha you win! All nice tents for sure.
@Backcountry Paddler I should make a trip and join you some time.
Hey Alex just letting you know I saw you commented on another one of my videos but TH-cam took the comment down before I could read it 🤷♂️ I'm not ignoring it. 😆
Great job, love the GoPro, footage looks great. Great edit. We stayed at the lean-to, but came from upstream to your put-in. Sucks that road was not open yet, it usually is. That is a long portage. I did not fish there, but I hear there are muskies in the creek. Next time. The hot tent and stove look like a keeper! Great adventure!
I'll be back another time or two this year and stay in the lean-to. So you started out in PA? Is that right? I'd like to make it a longer paddle next time.
@@BackcountryPaddler No, upstream in Frewsburg at the Main St (Rt62) bridge. I actually stored my bike at your put-in, our take-out.
Great video!
Thank you!
Just started following. Great stuff!!!!
Thanks so much!!!
That is a cool site, I'm in!
Next time, come with!!
@@BackcountryPaddler let me know...
Soooooooooooo lucky! But thank you!! Love it!!!!!!!!!
Haha I do feel lucky to be able to camp like this! I cannot wait to get the hot tent back out. Soon enough! Thanks for watching Scott.
Wow the adventure.
Thanks my friend. This was a great time. 👍
@@BackcountryPaddler researching hot tents after your video! ✨ Nice swift canoe Btw I was also checking those out. I need something for solo trips! Big dime to drop on those but the weight and quality will be worth it.
enjoyed video. Last 2 videos that I have seen, you could bunged corded canoes and fishing pole to inside canoe. What is the point of moving the picnic table back.
Hmm, can't remember why I didn't, but I normally do use gear ties to secure the fishing rod to the canoe. I moved the table back because that's its designated spot at the camp and I do my best to leave no trace. Thanks for watching Robert!
That Swift is Fire!!!
It is!
I'm just itching for a canoe trip right now. We've been having a rough spring. Each time I think it's over and we get a day of warm weather, it quickly goes away and we face temps below 50 and snow hits the mountains again for another week.
Same. Was snowing heavily this morning!
I loved this
Thank you!
Great video. I took my hot tent out this same night as a last trip with it for the year in the southern Adirondacks. Now time for canoe season!
Awesome Cory.. I'd love to take my hot tent to the ADKs... I think that'll be on the list for Fall!
Nice video and narration. Where are you located in this video? Just curious why you didn’t set up inside the covered shelter.
This was on the island site in m on the Conewango Creek which is right near the NY/PA state line. I didn't stay in the lean-to because I wanted to use my wood stove in the tent. Thanks for watching!!
Awesome video looks amazing
Thank you!! It was a fun night out.
Awesome man!! Go Pro is awesome! Looks like we use the same cookie sheet under our stove lol. Just got back from my first multiday paddle myself! It's on ! Paddler season is here
I brought my hot tent and stove......never used the stove. LOL.
@@ItsGoodintheWoods Haha, why not!? The baking sheet does the trick. Wife wasn't thrilled I stole it... but, 🤷♂️. 😆
@@ItsGoodintheWoods glad you survived with the quilts and also survived the wrath of the wife. Good ideas all around. Lol
Oh baby! The video I've been waiting for all day!
Gee no pressure there.....
😄
Just got a chance to sit and watch...great video brother...keep it going
Thanks bro! I appreciate it!!
I just stumbled across your channel. Brilliant video mate! You wouldn't happen to have a gear list, would you?
Hi thanks! Not a total gear list, no. Anything you wanted more info on in particular?
Was looking for a new outdoors TH-camr and your video was very enjoyable. I subscribed and will be watching. Thanks.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that. I look forward to your feedback!
Mark - which GoPro mount did you say you're using? I couldn't quite catch it.
Smatree. It's on Amazon. They make GREAT mounts and tripods at great prices. 👍
So peaceful, thanks for sharing. :)
Thanks for watching! 😁
That’s a really nice spot.
Q. Why didn’t you setup the tent w/ the door facing the river? 😊
Probably to give a better view to the viewer watching the video honestly. Next time I go there I'll set it up that way and get the morning river view for myself. 😁
Watching from Denver Colorado
I'd love to visit Colorado one day. Thanks for watching!

Someone get this man a liter of cola!
Canoe hot tenting? Hmmmmmm. I've never really considered mixing the two. I might just do that this weekend! They are even calling for some snow!
Just be careful the water doesn't freeze... check out my other video before you go! 😂
@@BackcountryPaddler Just watched! What an adventure!
No fear of a freeze-over. Too large of a lake, and the temps aren't supposed to go much below 27F into the morning. Wind, on the other hand, could be something to worry about on the way out.
Ok just use a lot of caution and make good decisions regarding your safety first. Report back on how it was!
The snow just kept going even through much of today (Monday)
Gonna try again this weekend. I really want to try out a combo canoe/hot tent trip.
I'm glad you played it safe. There will definitely be more opportunities!!!
Enjoyed this, thanks for sharing. What pot is that?
Thank you! It's a Toaks. I believe it's the 750ml..
Nice one man! Be backyard camping for me for a bit I guess - just gotta go DO IT!! lol
It's something..! I really feel for you guys. 😔
Awesome show thanks
Thanks Willis. I know you'll have a post this weekend that'll make me insanely hungry for some good cast iron cooking..
Great video. I appreciate all the work that went into it.
Thanks so much!!
Very cool man. Good for you! 🙏
A whole lotta firsts here: First portage of the season/ first canoe hot tent camping/first time at the island campsite (which was pretty sweet). Any ticks? Thanks Mark!
Nope, no ticks. That's never a fun "first." Lol Have fun on your weekend adventures KK!
That breakfast looked bomb!!
You never need it until you try it.. then it becomes a staple! 😆
Thanks for the tips and for watching!
@@BackcountryPaddler Not a problem I am looking at a hot tent setup for winter hunting. Any cons I should know about?
I'd suggest a bigger one than what I used in This video. The Luxe Hexpeak is really small. I'm hoping to get a Pomoly tent and stove soon. They appear to be amazing quality from all of the things I've seen and heard from people I trust.
Very inspiring video
Thank you! My goal is to help inspire other people to get outside so thanks so much for the comment 😁
Nice thumbnail and intro man! Looking forward to watching this tonight!!
Great video
Thanks!
@@BackcountryPaddler your welcome
Good one man! Looks like a lot of fun.
Great video. I'm jealous. Wish I could be out there too.
I know, it's so wrong! I feel for you guys I really do. 😔
i like that twig stove a lot, but i've never used one. do you need to split the logs? there's plenty of times where those won't split well. do you pack in some fatwood or is the splitting not really necessary, just easier fire management?
It definitely wouldn't hurt. They can be a bit difficult to get lit, especially if the wood is damp. It might not be "bushcraft" but I'd suggest some sort of fire starter as well.
Hey love your videos just subscribed. Going on my first trip soon. Also curious what jacket is that with the multiple colors? Thanks!
Hey! Have a great time on your first trip and feel free to hit me up for anything you need. I love helping out in those regards! The jacket is a down jacket made by Alpine. Nothing special think I paid $50 for it a few years ago.
Nice spot, Dude! I'm looking forward to getting out solo in mid-July. In the meantime, watching videos to live vicariously! : D Solitude.
I can't get out for awhile so I'm doing the same thing as you... watching TH-cam when I can and living vicariously through those who are out.
You could say I'm in the same boat, pun intended 😆
Awesome video. Never tried a hot tent before.
Would love to check this is this year fall or even Winter.

Awesome video! Did you film solely on the go pro? If not, what else do you film with?
Thanks! GoPro Hero9 and Galaxy S20 on this one. Don't believe I brought my DSLR on this one.
noticed you put the sleeping pad inside your sleeping bag.. that's interesting how does it work out?
I like doing it that way! It helps to keep me on top of it since I'm a side sleeper and I flip over a lot. Otherwise, I usually end up in the ground through the night. 👍
Awesome stuff my friend! Cannot wait to get out and do some trips myself!
Thanks, Rath. I can't wait to get out again. I'm actually writing this from my canoe, but I'm out on a local creek and it's just not the same!

What is your Canoe Worth? My Nephew & I have a Kayak & a NC Prospector 16. Looking for another Heavy Duty, Light Weight Canoe
Not sure what the going price is on them now but I paid around $2600 for mine when I got it. It included an discount from the Toronto Outdoor Show. This was a few years back, so I'd expect them to be quite a bit more now.
Loveing your videos man
Thanks so much!!
Great video Mark. Awesome shots. I have also recently got the hero 9. Lost my hero 7 when the canoe tipped last summer and it was on a head mount. Lost my favourite peak too. I now use a floaty tied too the Gopro. ATB. Grays
