FYI there are some FAQs in the vid description (e.g. tent, hammock, stick stove). This is the full 22-day trip and by far the longest vid we've ever posted. *It's broken up into 3 movie-length chapters or ~10-minute days in the playback bar/video description so you can break it up any way you like.* I know some of you prefer multi-part...I prefer to binge and get lost in the content and feel like I experienced it. (And episodic content generally performs worse than single long format on YT.) Anyway, hope you enjoy :)
Nancy Scott's book on Nipigon (the one referenced in the vid) is linked here along with all my book recommendations:

Hello, Jon and Erin! My name is Carly, and I just wanted to reach out to say thank you for all the hard work you put into your content. This may seem strange coming from a complete stranger in the states, but I wanted to tell you that my husband, Ryan, and I found your channel at a time when we truly needed it. Ryan passed away last week at 29 years old from cancer. In the last month or so of his life, we would watch you every single night. We’d say, “Lost Lakes and chill?!” We even got his friends and family to watch as well. In those final days, if football wasn’t on, Lost Lakes was on our tv! The joy and calm you brought into our home is truly indescribable. I think we watched this specific video at least 10 times. We loved showing everyone the caribou encounter! I can’t thank you enough for everything. Again, this may seem bizarre coming from a stranger, but I just wanted you to know. Keep exploring! Keep being great! Much love from a Michigander on the other side of the lake!

I’ve been yearning for a Lost Lakes video, and what you’ve given us is beyond compare. It may not be intentional but you’ve developed a distinctive brand in the world of wilderness adventure videos, characterized by quality, integrity, superb cinematography, extraordinary attention to details, humour, and a quietly powerful voice. Your music choices are perfect mood enhancers. Truly, this was equal to the best feature films, and I didn’t want it to end. I smiled, gasped in awe, and wept with joy and emotion during the caribou sequence. You and Erin are delightful together and I wish you a happy wedding and a wonder-filled life. Thank you so much for bringing us along with you. I’ll be watching this one again soon.

Sadly left my birthplace in Michigan when I was 16, I’ve always missed our grand, mysterious, bountiful Great Lakes, its rivers, streams, ponds. The fields of partridge and grouse, the shorebirds, owls and woodland bird sounds. Nothing is sweeter to the senses than the vast forests of white pine, spruce, hemlock and sweet fern. I am over 80 now, but I hope the last sounds I hear are the waves sighing on the sand while the winds move gently through the woodlands.

What a masterpiece. Side note - earlier this year I moved back to the northeast of the US near where I grew up, to a very forested area with tons of hiking and lakes. For the two years before, I was living in a major urban area in the south, and was deeply unhappy being in a congested city filled with sprawl. To get the most out of those rose hips, crush them up so the pulp:meat is exposed to the boiling water for maximum extraction. Vitamin.C is ascorbic acid which will make the water quite TART, not bland. Good for jazzing up greens and keeping other fruits from browning. Mixing w sugar and mint is a great idea. Try mashing up those hips before boiling for better extraction.

After watching all 3h50m there are 3 things I'd like to say.
1, you two are a delightful couple, and absolutely badass adventurers.
    2. I am grateful you shared this trip of a lifetime so I could enjoy lake Nipigon with you. It was on my bucket list for years, but surviving lung cancer has crossed out some things on the list for me.
    3. When I am up that way craving sweets, I recommend the Serendipity Cafe in Rossport. They make the best cheesecake you may ever experience in your life. And the serving is so huge, it is easily enough to share a slice.
Thank you for the couch adventure. ❤

1st time viewer. Thanks for sharing the beauty of life with us. As a lifetime fisherman I wanted to recommend my favorite lure for a wide variety of species. Kastmaster by Acme. It's an oldie but a goodie. Caught most species that swim on West Coast, fresh and saltwater. Best wishes to you and yours.

You really captured that ‘otherworldly’ vibe that the Superior-Nipigon region can give you, among the mesas, the talus slopes, the cliffs, the haze, the clouds, the magic islands, mirages, thunderstorms, orange lichen, etc…and the Lord of the Rings style music really worked well with it. Well done.

whew! That was a marathon but one worth running to the end even if I had to break it up into shorter segments. Thank you, Jon and Erin, for a masterful telling of your trip around this magnificent lake. The exquisite scenery, the varied moods of the water and of the sky, and most of all, the wildlife you encountered, both in the air and on the ground, truly made this a first class adventure for the eyes, the mind, and the soul. I'm sure it has been said before but, even though I will never see this place with my own eyes, it is reassuring to know that it exists. Peace.

I have lived and traveled from coast to coast for 55 years. I am so grateful to call Canada home. Access to wilderness is something that every Canadian should take advantage of and certainly not take for granted. My father is a 33 year Military Veteran and he taught us low impact survival and to respect our wild lands. Athletic outdoor adventures have always kept me grounded and sane. Your channel resonates with me in a profound way. Thank you for sharing your content! Its food for the soul...

The insight in doing the feat is so enriching mentally & physically , I can understand your feelings as rightly expressed . You seem to be as disciplined as your father ! Only discipline is the key for such pure thoughts !!! Coast to coast , luck though favours a few ? You are one of those ! Happy living ! Y'r comments are as pure as your soul ! Jon (and Erin),
Like most of your viewers we have been anxiously awaiting your new videos for awhile. But the wait has been worth it. That is the best video that you have produced that we have seen. The content, photography/videography, narration was meticulously done. We will certainly watch this one a few times again.
    Tom
PS. In Chilliwack BC, where we live, there is a blue heron nature reserve. There is a large colony of blue herons that nest here yearly. There are dozens of nests high up in the trees all together for protection from the crows, ravens and bald eagles. It’s quite a site to see every April/May. The area is also protected from sightseers by fencing and a deep/wide ditch. However these nests are visible from a dike around the ditch.

I woke up in the middle of the night, found your video and spent the rest of the night watching it as if in a dream, canoeing with you. What a magnificent lake journey beautifully filmed, with great music. As an avid backpacker who has hiked the Canadian Rockies, California’s Sierra mountains, and the Appalachian trail (in stages), your film inspires me to do more riparian explorations by canoe. You’re both admirable canoeists and the kind of adventurers I would enjoy as companions. Only this advice I offer: When you encounter an animal that poses no threat, and one that you want to observe, stay perfectly still. I was thrilled for you both, especially Erin, when you sighted the caribou. But it was approaching nonchalantly when Erin moved, or she might have had a closer and more rewarding encounter with it, possibly passing her close by. Thank you for sharing your adventure in such cinematic beauty.

    Super sweet!
But I have a pro tip for you that took me nearly a quarter century to figure out:
Ditch you canoe paddles for nice, long, 2 pc. double bladed kayak paddles! It is a game changer in so many ways. Especially on long paddles and 17'+ expedition canoes.
Way more paddles per pancake as we say. Way more torque, leverage and control. You don't always hold it in the middle...sometimes fully extended with one hand on the edge of the blade.
Power through wind, maneuver tight turns on the river. And on the open water, increase your speed with little extra effort.
And for those who do not want to break tradition....see you at camp tonight!

Thank the heavens you guys are around. My city life becomes more unimpressive every day.
Such great videography and pacing throughout. I will watch this many times.
Nippogan is otherworldly in that monstrous storm. Unreal. Would love to experience something like that. I'm a bit of an adverse weather fan but realize the intense prep it must take for an epoch like that. Outstanding capture.
Many many precious moments throughout with well chosen soundtracks, but the Caribou sighting was timeless.
