I was born in Alaska when it was still a territory. My father helped with the Alcan. Log cabins, root cellars, running a trap line, tanning animal hides, listening to wolves, were just part of life. We lost our homestead in the "Good Friday" earthquake of 64. Thanks for the memories!

@@tzuccolo2001 Lol, umm, no. It's just me out there filming. Think about it. How many shots do you even see of me paddling from shore or that could potentially be shot from another boat? None. I set a tripod up on shore or along the trail a few times. There are also no shots of me at camp that that move while I'm in the frame so, it's on a tripod, obviously no camera man. Why would I lie also? Funny that you sound so sure "there's a team of people working on it" haha, don't you just have it all figured haha.

I can't hear or see the word Yukon without remembering my time in Alaska as a kid. We moved there by vehicle and traveled the AlCan to get there. When we moved away, we traveled the AlCan again. The AlCan is a must drive. You'll never regret 1 mile of it. We drove from Georgia to Alaska and back to Georgia again. It was the adventure of a lifetime.

I love your videos Jim! Unfortunately my bad is so fked up it prevents me from going out and doing what you love so much. I hurt so deeply and end up paying days for moments of enjoyment. Knowing and adhering to my limits is what I have to mind when I go out on adventures. I love hunting, fishing, camping, boating and pretty much everything that you cover in your videos. So while I'm unable to live my life to the furthest of its limits, your videos help me connect with the little bits of life that I so miss.. For that, thank you so much!
Stay safe, stay smart and keep doing exactly what you do buddy.. LIVE LIVE LIVE!!!

I am deeply impressed to see you run this river alone, making such a wonderful film! A work of art! Good thing I have ears, or my grin would have gone all the way around my head.
Listening to you read the river and then run it brought back old memories of a trip on the Athabaska River and whitewater classes on the Madawaska in Ontario. I got at least a glimpse of that special world. Today I am too old for these adventures, but the pictures and memories are in my head. Greetings from Germany!

Just breathtaking! Where to start. Your videography is so good. I dont know how you do it with all the challenges you face. The beautiful mountains that look like volcanoes with clouds hanging over, beautiful sunsets, wildlife and winding waterways. What is my favorite part of this series so far...it's all so fascinating. I get to see the wild Yukon that I'd otherwise never see. Shooting the rapids is captivating. You are quite expert at it, using good judgment in scouting out the difficulty before your run them. Your survival skills and knowledge are impressive to say the least. Didnt even recognize you with the short hair and no beard. Wonderful series. Waiting for the next video. Cheers from Wisconsin .

Awesome trip, thanks for sharing it! Back in the late 70's, my wife and I put our kayaks on a flatbed rail car in Skagway and put in at the train station on Lake Bennett in the Yukon. We then paddled out to camp on that little island way out in the middle....then to Carcross, Lake Tagish, Lake Marsh to the head of the Yukon River and down to Whitehorse. One of the advantages of Kayak or Canoe camping is you get to take EVERYTHING....(we had Champagne our first night on the Yukon). Alaska and the Yukon Territory are places one leaves a bit of their heart.

Beautiful footage, I enjoyed watching. Someone I knew did a solo Yukon trip, she wrote a very good book about, it's easier to for me to copy and paste an Amazon review of it -
Solo on the Yukon and Solo on the Yukon Again by Helen Broomell.
"In the summer of 1981, 64-year-old Helen Broomell, mother of six and grandmother of ten, set off with an old aluminum canoe that had been shortened by cutting and riveting. She had found a ride on a ride board from her home in Wisconsin to Dawson, British Columbia, and the Yukon River. After three weeks paddling 600 miles by herself, she spent the next four months exploring Alaska by plane, train, Alaska Ferry, hitchhiking, river rafting, and dogsledding. Two years later, Helen returned and picked up her canoe at the gas station by the pipeline bridge where she had left it, and paddled another 750 miles by herself. When the weather got bad before she reached her destination (about 100 miles from the Bering Sea), she traded her canoe for a boat ride, and again spent several months traveling all over Alaska by any means available. This book combines her journals from both trips into one volume, and includes unforgettable anecdotes about bears, native villages, making friends, and being self-reliant."

Wow, just the sheer solitude of being in a place which is so vast and also totally independent of you; if you weren't there it would be exactly the same. You sit in awe. Wonderful video Jim. Thank you.
