Who is the best character in The Office? Who should’ve got the spinoff? ALSO when I meant dwights likeability I was referring to Dwight as a person, I love his character, but I wouldn’t want to go to dinner with him. BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, did YOU like the farm? I know it has its fans! Just because I didn’t doesn’t mean no one else did!
I think it could’ve been cool to have seen how Jim and Daryl’s business went in Austin. Maybe also see Philip and Cece growing up too? Although I think that would make Pam too irrelevant
Having not known it was a spin-off pilot, I actually really liked the episode. Mostly because of the line "nostalgia is humans greatest weakness, second only to the neck"
Yeah I honestly thought that the characters were some random celebrities that were cameoing in it. Forgettable but I don’t think it was a terrible episode or anything
One thing that sticks out to me about Dwight is when Michael asks Kelly to explain Dwali and she just kind of says, "uh, I don't know", and Dwight gets up and explains it perfectly without any preparation beforehand. I once saw on Wikipedia that the actor, Rainn Wilson, belongs to the Baha'ai religion and it made me wonder if the character does too. I was disappointed when we never got any explanation of that. Being from an Amish family but following the Baha'ai faith makes for an interesting story indeed.
I loved this episode personally, I'd have loved to see a short series. Not something that would go on and on, but something around a regular seasons length and then done.
Kazza Jaxon yeah I never even realized it wasn’t intended to be part of the main show and I’ve always really enjoyed it. Maybe it has everything to do with your expectations
I actually for one liked this episode, it was a way to see that Dwight had a more profound like than being a beet farmer, it shows his relationship with his family and overall it made me appreciate him a bit more.
Same here. I LOVED this episode and it was my favorite. I think they missed the mark by not using it as a spin-off. Everything about those characters at the farm was unique and funny as heck!
Hahaha if only I could be on his level lol. I just meant like all the shots seemed more stabilized, they had a shallower depth of field and the colors were more vivid, so although many documentaries are of course shot that way, if you look at previous episodes even from the same season they have a different look. I guess I didn't mean that it doesn't look like a documentary, more that it just uses a different, less raw style that threw me off a little.
Andy was good at times as well. Jim's character, not from comedy aspect, also carried the show as he was the dramatic part of the story. I feel like Jim and Mike (and to a degree Pam) are the main focal points of the Office.
I think the fact the farm didn’t really have a “straight man” like the office had Jim to play off the absurdity it couldn’t really be funny. Nothing to juxtapose against the comedy, just weird people being weird.
Dwights chemistry only works when he’s around “normal” people such as Jim. When he has his own spinoff and no one to really combat with it gets really stale
This is by far one of the best episodes of the 9th season. And dwight is probably one of the most like able characters. His character growth and arc is amazing.
I never knew this was a pilot episode, I always thought it was for us to learn more about Dwight and its one of my favorite episodes I’d like to learn more about his family and how Dwight is doing with his new farm and his new wife. I get and agree with some of the videos points but it’s still one of my favorite videos
it was when it aired live the 2nd least viewed episode ever...the only one that had less viewers was season 9's the target cause that episode's description and promos alone pissed people off cause it was about trying to make us feel for angela..nobody liked her by early season 9 so they kinda messed up there giving her the sympathetic A plot...we don't care about he and the senator an we knew she was lying abut phillip so she easily became everyone most hated character back then
Same, it has such a wholesome feeling especially compared with the tension of most episodes and it was such a cool look into their personal lives. I was actually shocked after finding out it was a pilot after I saw it originally and was surprised it wasn’t taken up because I enjoyed the episode so much 🤷🏻♂️
I thought the episode was pretty damn funny overall. The way it starts with Dwight throwing dirt in everyone’s face, making Oscar go to the funeral as the only person from work bc he openly states he doesn’t wanna go, the way they all eulogize her, Oscar running away, stepping on a crow’s beak as their form or flirting. I thought it had plenty of hilarious moments
@@PresidentDennis yeah I think it would have worked for like a 3 episode spin off to cap off the series not like a entire spin off just a special little treat for the office early adopters
@@PresidentDennis I thought so too. Had one of my biggest laughs if not the biggest in this episode. The way Dwight's bro just parks on the grave and when Dwight started blasting the corpse with a shotgun was hilarious. My sense of humor is very dark.
A Dwight spinoff is like taking a tire off one car and saying the tire is also a car. Dwight was a great character and maybe one of the most unique in American television BUT, Dwight needs Jim. He needs Michael and Pam. It's him interacting with other more normal characters that makes the magic.
I mostly agree. If anyone could make for a spin-off it would be Dwight, but spin-offs just so rarely work. Or they could take a more minor (somewhat) character and flesh them out, like with Fraiser.
Disagree, Jim is a rubber stamp foil who could be replaced by almost anyone, and Krasinski didn't bring anything special to that dynamic. Rainn was a stronger performer in this environment, and Jim is written as little more than a good looking bully to reflect that
Jim a foil? The Jim I remember was always a step ahead outwitting Dwight and playing elaborate pranks just because he was bored. Jim was sharp and funny. More like an arch nemesis.
@@thebubonicj what does arch nemesis have to do with anything? Foil just means a character with traits which highly contrast with those of another in order to highlight those same traits in the first, their nemesis status is irrelevant. Jim is the straight man and Dwight is the comic relief, thats a classic foil dynamic
Nah, it was a great episode. Showed Dwight being solid, respectable, guiding his nephew. The character was better when Dwight wasn’t a whiny villain, but his personality traits (being direct, hard working, standing up for others, albeit all in funny ways) led to positive developments. Dwights character arc is a heroic one. This episode shows that. Maybe it’s more relatable bc I grew up rural, but I like that Dwight was competent. Nerdstalgic is wrong. He just likes Dwight when he is the outsider weirdo.
Exactly my thoughts. They can't accept the fact that at least some of the things that Dwight says about his life might be true. They want him to stay the weirdo/loser.
It was a very bad pilot but a good office episode. I’d never want to watch that show and I’ve watched the office so many times I lost count. A good pilot to me should make me want to watch the show, a show around that idea would be absolute horrible in my opinion and the pilot showed it. Although making for a good episode where would it go from there?
I never watched the last season (except the last episode) so I wasn't aware of it before. I watched it this morning and really liked the characters. Wish they didn't mash it up with The Office
I actually liked Andy until they made him the Manager. He fit the stereotype well. Actually come to think of it, pretty much everyone fulfilled a stereotype seen in an office building somewhere. Even the terrible Nellie.
Never realized this was supposed to be a pilot for a different show. Dang now i feel sad that it never made it, cause it was for sure one of the better episodes of the show. We got to see Dwight in a different surrounding, and it had some of the best gags overall too.
Its not that surprising. Most great secondaries wouldnt be good protagonists. We need small pills of them. Its like Ari Gold from Entourage, probably my favourite character ever, he is so god damn great, it was said that they would make a spin off for him, but It wouldnt work, it would be too much.
If "Joey" has taught us anything is that you can't have a single character spinoff when the whole appeal of the original show was the relationships of all characters.
@@Drankit188 It was on the same length of time. That being said, I think the reason why _Frasier_ worked is that he wasn't a main character. I don't think _Norm_ or _Cliff_ would have worked at all.
I actually loved this episode and would think about it a lot. It's one of my favorites. I was excited to see more of his family and find out some more about them and see more of their customs. I was disappointed when they never followed up on them in any other episodes. Makes sense now since it was supposed to be an entirely different show. I'm just very disappointed
I only found this dribble because I was searching for their version of The Decemberists' "Sons and Daughters" --I thought it was an absolutely wonderful episode
This is so infuriating! I tought he wanted to leave and that’s why they wrote Michael out. After that I was waiting two seasons to see him be mentioned or come back for little parts only to get like 2 lines from him in the final. They did him dirty.
@@rosalierowan yes its infuriating. Steve Carell was just joking in his interview that he wants to leave. He was shock that he receive an email that they accepted his "resignation" and would not want to keep him. Ironic executive got butthurt in a talkshow joke while producing a sitcom.
I really liked The Farm. The Office is a mockumentary but Schrute Farms felt like a world building episode to introduce how Dwight became so eccentric.
"The same could not be said about any other character in the show"? What about Creed? I found what Creed was up to in general more interesting and mysterious than Dwight most of the time
Creed was of course fascinating and hilarious but only as a peripheral character, mostly providing talking head cutaways. When they made him manager it was rubbish.
that's probably because the writers have said that they always saved the best one-liners for creed's character. most of his appeal comes from his mystery and diving deeper into his character would have definitely ruined that. his lines are gold but that's because he has very few lines.
people easily get manipulated it seems...yes dwight is cold and cartoony and loud and rude but hes also true and cares and actually is the most likeable on rewatches when you understand his arc and how while yes pam is sweet she also plays to the cameras and must come out of her shell which makes he less sweet and she has to be that way cause she really does not care about the office or people's jobs or efficiency like dwight and she is forced to interact with these people and be positive cause she is replaceable and weak...obviously on first viewing you will be put off by dwight unless you like the weird character at jump so you relate to pam jim darryl oscar kelly ryan maybe phyllis and to you mike and dwight are just entertainment but on rewatches they are the heart of the show...everyone else comes off as smug assholes for the most part...i actually love mike and dwight..they cared about the branch..everyone else was forced to care
In season 6, episode 4 “Niagra Pt. 1” Dwight is trying to seduce Pam’s cousin by talking about his farm. Michael say “Dwight, stop talking about your farm, it’s not relatable” The office predicted the demise of its own spin off
The only problem is that they portrayed Michael as wrong in that scene as Dwight won her cousin by talking about the farm so I guess Michael was only solidifying the idea for them
Wow, I actually disagree with this video. I think this show could have absolutely worked. We know executives pass on things that are amazing all the time. Secondly we also know that story development or rather character development within the story takes a proper amount of time, especially if we are cramming it into an episode of the office going back and forth like you mentioned. We can take a look at Marvel vs. DC modern movies and why one has been wildly successful where the other hasn't. Its all about character development. We also know that The Office itself barely made it past its first season. I almost wish I never knew about this pilot spinoff because now I'm wishing it happened badly haha. Great video!!! Made me think.
I loved this episode, having a look into Dwight's life was a great idea especially since his character carried the show once Michael Scott left. and I would have loved that spinoff show, Rainn Wilson is a genius and was 100% my favorite office character.
I assumed he was one if the most loved characters. I mean without him we wouldn't be seeing Jim doing pranks as much. Jim would just be a productive member of the office and that makes for a boring show. He himself isn't necessarily trying to be funny or nice like Michael who goes out of his way to make people like him or Jim who tries to lighten up boring life in the office, but his over the top reactions are what I live for and those moments involving him comforting Pam or helping someone else in the office seems genuine which is why I love him.
@@magnificentsir7274 agreed. He became a *complete* unlikable douche after his big boat ride. He was an overbearing narcissist asshole to Karen. Karen could do WAY better then Andy. I like how plop and Karen got together
I really liked this episode. Getting a further look into Dwight's life and family was fun and different. Like the episode Jim and Pam take a holiday to Shrute Farms B&B and we get to see something outside the office, away from the desks, but still added to the characters. I don't think I would've wanted an entire show based off of it, but the episode itself was good.
GamerJosh Todd Packer is made to be unlikable. That’s why he’s a good character, not a good person, but a good character. It’s like if you get offended by South Park, I personally do not watch South Park but I would never get offended by it. The worst character is Andy because he’s a fucking asshole. Pay attention to how he treats people and how he acts through the whole series and you’ll see how horrible and unlikable Andy is when he is not meant to be a Todd packer, but a Jim, Pam, or Phyllis. Instead we got the worst character (tied with Erin cause she’s one of those “hEy iM qUiRkY aNd ReLaTaBle HAhA” type person) that is annoying and treats people terribly.
I see Pete, aka "Plop," the worst because comparing with the other characters, he comes off as dull and boring. He has a nerdy side to him, but that was never taken full advantage to who he is, unlike Adam Scott's character, Ben, from Parks & Rec, in which was used to the full advantage to make him relatable. However, Pete is never seen relatable. Gabe being insecure and neurotic sycophant with no social life makes him interesting, especially when trying to get the respect of the employees but failing, as to oppose of David Wallace or Jan. And hell, he's an avid horror film fan, someone whom at some point knew in the workplace, whether you knew it or not.
@@p.z.arnott2329 exactly. gabe was meant to be unlikable, just like todd packer. it's good that people don't like him as a person. pete was made to be likeable but was just boring and uninteresting.
Narrator : " this might be the absolute worst episode of the office" My mind: Hey Mr Scott, whatcha gonna do.. whatcha gonna do is make our dreams come true.
This is interesting. I never thought of it like this and to be honest I don’t agree. I enjoyed this episode but don’t think it would’ve made a good spinoff. I also completely disagree this is the worst episode or that Dwight is the most disliked character. If anything he’s one of the top 5 favorites.
I kind of think he meant from the perspective of the characters. Or at least that’s what I took from it. Which is pretty true. But from our perspective he is amazing.
You called dwight the "least likeable". How dare you he is one the most courageous, hard working, smart, dedicated men I've ever layed my eyes on. How dare you sir, how dare you.
Angela please get back to work. But seriously I should’ve phrased that better lol I meant least likeable human, I LOVE his character, but I’d never want to get dinner with him 😂
So, here's a fact: The Office had a planned spin off long before 'The Farm'. However, after many tweaks and changes, it eventually became 'Parks & Recreation'. There's also a 30 Rock Spin-Off that was planned for NBC's new Streaming service, but, like P&R, it got molded into its own thing. Basically, it was gonna be focused on Alec Baldwin's character, Jack Donaghy, running for Mayor of NYC. But talk with Baldwin fell through, and Ted Danson was cast as the lead. But he insisted on staying in Cali, so now it's about him running for Mayor of LA.
Mehless Midori do you have Netflix? It’s all on there (and maybe Hulu, too). I’ve watched The Office and Parks n Rec all the way through probably 4-5 times each and over the years I’ve just grown way more attached to P&R. The whole town of Pawnee just feels so alive and I love how the whole city and it’s inhabitants become characters as well. Using the same actors as extras throughout the entire series was a great idea. Both are amazing shows, though.
Michael was the most unlikable character tbh. The main thing the U.S version is worse for is the fact that the writers seem to have been confused as to whether make him the unlikeable boss, like David Brent in the UK one, or someone who was genuinely liked and people were really upset about leaving. It makes his leaving the show jarring because they treat him like he was a really good and well-loved character when in fact he was a jackass who never learned not to be one, and constantly made other people worse off. At least the U.K version doesn't romanticise Brent and punishes him adequately for his general asshatery (although he is ultimately less intentionally of an ass than Michael is)
I would have happily watched this spin off. Dwight is an interesting character, and his mystery being explored would have been fun. I also liked this episode.
This video also shows how good “Better Call Saul” is for managing to be a spin-off of “Breaking Bad” and an amazing show in its own right… while somehow being it’s own thing and yet felling 100% like it’s within the “Breaking Bad” universe.
@@kryptonitespider-bitedynam7305 well, in the fun run episode he says he gets a senior discount or something and Jan asks, "You're over 65?" (Forgive me for my bad memory)
people are idiots....dwight was more likeable then pam or jim cause of his actions....people get too caught up on words and how someone speaks...dwight says a lot of stuff but the man in the end cares about his co workers branch his role and job and wants it to last longer...he actually cares unlike the rest of them...because of his work ethic and passion..the rest of them see this as just a job..dwight sees it as life..he kept that branch running by himself it feels like..the reason they had issues was everyone else not trying as hard....but because the human brain has the attention span of a pea people do not see it
the reason i stuck with the office during some points were seriously just because of dwight. He’s likeable af and this really was one of my favourite episodes, just really great to get to see dwight in his ‘natural habitat’. I get that it didn’t become it’s own series but as an episode i think it’s great
No ones talking about how Oscar watched a dead woman's head bloom open like a rose and his response was "I'm done" and leaves. Maybe Oscar was the scranton strangler?
@Louis Chatel theres a whole theory that Toby is the real scranton strangler and George Howard Scub was framed. If you haven't seen it I'd reccomend it but I was just poking fun at the theory a bit
Log but how can it be anybody on the cast when while the trial was going on the suspect was arrested and in custody? They can’t just leave and go to work while on trial.
Personally, I didn’t like “The Farm” episode or any other involving Dwight’s family because the writers made them too absurd to be believable or funny. But, then again, I loved Mose and Rolph, and they fit well with the show, but they were pretty freaking weird, so I don’t know where the to draw the line. 🤷🏻♂️
i loved mose because of the juxtaposition between him and more "normal" characters like jim and pam. when you remove that juxtaposition, it's just a family of weird people being weird and there isn't anything to play off of. also, mose rarely spoke in the original run, which i think worked well with the "mystery" surrounding dwight's life.
@@skrittle555 Exactly. The weird should always be just that, the weird. If you have nothing but weird, then that is the new normal for that world and it loses most of what made it interesting.
Louie Berg Reminds me of something similar I heard. People being weird isn’t inherently funny. People reacting to that weirdness is what’s usually funny.
I absolutely hated this episode. The folk singing, the sister's insufferable poetry, the weird kid, that guy from silicon valley...all terrible. As much as I love Dwight, his character doesn't work without Jim, Michael, Pam, etc. He needs a "regular" person to serve as a basis for comparison to just how weirdly wonderful he is. If they're all weird...it's just not the same. I think it's similar to why the "Joey" spinoff from Friends didn't work. He needed Chandler and the gang to balance the camp and immaturity of his character.
i think the issue was your putting dwight with random people and expect us to care...after 9 seasons?..like if this occured in season 3 fine but 9 in?..we like everyone so thats not good..your taking the best character left and putting him with more weirdos to humanize him and make a show thats is basically a cartoon in real life without any reateability?...we don't love dwight causes hes a weird farm amish naive nerd from a family of nazis...we like him cause hes human who makes mistakes who falls in love that cries that has ambitions that is a friend and will spring into action to do good he cares and how he can take the pranks and his hard working efficiency aspirational drive...no one cares about the sci fi dumb farmer..we care about the man...i was far more interested in the law enforcement side to him then the nerd or farmer side....he wanted to be a deputy hes a night watch man he is an investigator for the scranton strangler he goes out to spy on oscar and darryl and uses his ability to sabotage the mike scott paper company....that side to dwight was far cooler to me...the farmer side being shown so much was so off putting....just why?...it made his character not make any sense..how does he have time for all this?..
@@razkable Dwight comes from an interesting background, he's always been a beet farmer, but it seems like in his time while raising his family and taking care of the farm he grew a fixation on movies. Which is likely why he grew so interested in so many things
The Farm was one of my favorite episode. You focus a lot on whether the show is meant to be “funny” and criticize this episode for not being funny enough. I don’t think the snow is meant to always be funny. And the characters in dwights family are plenty relatable. I’m glad the spin off didn’t really take off. I’d probably watch it. But your assessment was pretty critical. Guess that’s what makes you a critic? So keep up the work you do, be you.
Wow! The Farm is my favorite episode of the Office.....(Guess I am an idiot! ) I love how, After so many years, we see Dwight really develop into a likable human being....a unique, often strange one...but, a likable one. We get to see his siblings...listen to a wonderful musical interlude expressing images of Schrute ancestors and I want to know more. I loved Michael, but, I loved the episodes which followed his departure.....we got to know the other characters....And, I liked them all......and In the end, even Pam and Jim ended up loving Angela and Dwight. I see them having Friendship connections for the rest of their lives!
I totally disagree. That was one of my most favorite episodes! I would have loved a spinoff that was just about the beet farm so we could continue to see Dwight and Angela. Dwight was my favorite character. I think the worst episode was Scott's Tots. That was too painful to watch. I absolutely loves those episodes at Dwight's farm -- those characters and the writing were SO awesome. The actors were stellar.
Tbh Job Fair has to be the worst episode (within the time Steve Carrell was in the show) & Schrute Farms is probably the worst episode. I remember watching it and telling myself (MAN, I really wish Micheal Scott would re-appear)
Yeah I just completed a full rewatch, and this episode just really really stunk. I didn’t know it was a pilot, but it makes sense, cause I was just thinking “What in the world are we doing over here? I don’t care about any of this” not sure if it’s THE worst, but yeah, it was bad.
Kind of a leap from "this episode is bad" to "the should've ended the show when Michael left." I get what you are saying, I just don't think the entirety of the last two seasons were not good because this one episode is so different than any other episode. There are some really funny moments in the last two seasons, moments that make the series.
@@metamech7383 Sorry... And. I guess that's one thing to tick on the list: Kevin became a full blown man child insted of what he was in the beginning. The entire cast became parodies of themselves and it's hard to watch. But that's just me. I don't fault anyone else for enjoying it.
I actually liked this episode but agree the farm would have been a disaster. Also I know alot of people feel the office was worse off without the Michael but personally I thought the last couple of seasons were still good. I thought by far the worst episodes of the office were the ones Jim and Pam were fighting or Jim was out of the office at his new job because imo the show has always lived or died with those 2 characters.
The worst part for me was how much it tried to be heartwarming from minute one. The office worked bc of it's slow pace, and how much time it takes you to start loving that cast of weird, and mostly unlikable, people. That's what makes the actual heartwarming moments meaningful, because of the contrast and build up. But The Farm tries to shove wholesomeness down your throat as if it was a season finale
Dominick Schrute yeah. I think it’s fair to argue that dwights sister was supposed to play the ‘normal’ character while Dwight and his brother were crazy
1:41 the least likable? Dwight is my absolute favorite character on The Office and had been since before this episode (followed closely by Oscar and Angela). Dwight is great. Obnoxious sometimes, sure. But I love him. Least likable is hands down Andy, even after they try to make him “relatable” again. Then Cathy and Ryan. And then Robert California shows up and becomes worse, but he’s only there for a short time. So in terms of the whole show, he’s third.
I read somewhere that Parks and Rec was briefly considered to be a spin-off to The Office. But these plans were scrapped, just because of the amount they’d have to pay Gervais and Merchant to spin-off their IP.
Despite the show limping along after Michael left, I maintain that the finale of the show is one of the best series finales of all time. If they'd just cut ahead to that I think we'd have been happy.
@@La-PetitMort just didn't like Michael . I get that he was supposed to be like that and that made it funnier. But I just find it in unbearable. Usually fast forward his scenes . And when I rewatch the office I only watch the last two season
I've read several times that they both existed "in the same universe", but there was never a shred of in-show reference to prove that. Even something as tiny as a Dunder-Mifflin fridge magnet shown once would have done it. And Rashida Jones playing two different characters takes away from that claim for me.
@@salbro5985 Doppelgangers. There are actors in Brooklyn 99 who are also in New Girl, yet the two have crossed over, meaning they exist in the same universe.

This episode even felt visually weird. It had a “cinematic” look that got rid of all the documentary vibes. It was shot more like a commercial.

I don’t really get what you mean? Documentaries can be cinematic too....
@@christinaguo9310 they're trying to sound as smart as the guy in this video...
That’s exactly right.
I actually think Dwight is what carried the show after Michael left.
YES
He was so strong since the beginning I love his character
Ye i agree i think hes likeable but he said unlikeable not that he didn’t carry the show

This is by far one of the best episodes of the 9th season. And dwight is probably one of the most like able characters. His character growth and arc is amazing.
Yes I liked this episode and love Dwight. To me the most unlikable character was Nelly.
Seriously, I haven't laughed as hard as I did during this episode. I think it's the best in the series.
Agree
I never knew this was a pilot episode, I always thought it was for us to learn more about Dwight and its one of my favorite episodes I’d like to learn more about his family and how Dwight is doing with his new farm and his new wife. I get and agree with some of the videos points but it’s still one of my favorite videos
it was when it aired live the 2nd least viewed episode ever...the only one that had less viewers was season 9's the target cause that episode's description and promos alone pissed people off cause it was about trying to make us feel for angela..nobody liked her by early season 9 so they kinda messed up there giving her the sympathetic A plot...we don't care about he and the senator an we knew she was lying abut phillip so she easily became everyone most hated character back then
I too loved this episode. I'm glad to see I wasn't alone
Same, it has such a wholesome feeling especially compared with the tension of most episodes and it was such a cool look into their personal lives. I was actually shocked after finding out it was a pilot after I saw it originally and was surprised it wasn’t taken up because I enjoyed the episode so much 🤷🏻♂️
I do gotta say Oscar running from the funeral was a pretty funny moment for me
I thought the episode was pretty damn funny overall.
Ayy Joey didn't know you were an office fan
G TX z. Bb. H
Exactly!! One of my favorite parts of The Office was Dwight and Jim’s antics. I also loved when Pam was involved

1:40 you must not have watched when Gabe, Nellie, Andy, or Deangelo came on the show because they made Dwight look pretty like able

Dwight was never unlikable! I'd go for Todd Packer to be the WORST character.

The exception being Frasier, which was funnier, and was on longer than Cheers.

I really liked The Farm. The Office is a mockumentary but Schrute Farms felt like a world building episode to introduce how Dwight became so eccentric.
"The same could not be said about any other character in the show"? What about Creed? I found what Creed was up to in general more interesting and mysterious than Dwight most of the time
That’s true, I don’t think he’s as well fleshed out as dwight obviously, but that’s true!
Creed was of course fascinating and hilarious but only as a peripheral character, mostly providing talking head cutaways. When they made him manager it was rubbish.
@inyrui this is very true.
that's probably because the writers have said that they always saved the best one-liners for creed's character. most of his appeal comes from his mystery and diving deeper into his character would have definitely ruined that. his lines are gold but that's because he has very few lines.
@Vermin Supreme lmao
"Least likeable" Dwight? What show are you watching
people easily get manipulated it seems...yes dwight is cold and cartoony and loud and rude but hes also true and cares and actually is the most likeable on rewatches when you understand his arc and how while yes pam is sweet she also plays to the cameras and must come out of her shell which makes he less sweet and she has to be that way cause she really does not care about the office or people's jobs or efficiency like dwight and she is forced to interact with these people and be positive cause she is replaceable and weak...obviously on first viewing you will be put off by dwight unless you like the weird character at jump so you relate to pam jim darryl oscar kelly ryan maybe phyllis and to you mike and dwight are just entertainment but on rewatches they are the heart of the show...everyone else comes off as smug assholes for the most part...i actually love mike and dwight..they cared about the branch..everyone else was forced to care
In season 6, episode 4 “Niagra Pt. 1” Dwight is trying to seduce Pam’s cousin by talking about his farm. Michael say “Dwight, stop talking about your farm, it’s not relatable”
The office predicted the demise of its own spin off
O.o
This is quite an interesting thing to happen for The Office, it’s kinda hard to believe honestly
hey hey
Dwight is the least likable character?
I would put Andy (pre anger management), Angela, and Packer below him in terms of likability.
1st season michael, gabe, season 9 andy
Andy when he comes back after Nelly steals his job is worse than pre anger management imo

Like the episode Jim and Pam take a holiday to Shrute Farms B&B and we get to see something outside the office, away from the desks, but still added to the characters. I don't think I would've wanted an entire show based off of it, but the episode itself was good.
um, gabe is the worst character, also i loved everything about dwight and his farm
Todd Packer: Am I a joke to you? I'm the Pack-Man!
GamerJosh
Todd Packer is made to be unlikable.

Yeah, right? The funeral is one the best scenes in the series.

Yeah um I would add the austrailian red head girl (I like to forget she was added) or even Robert California. Any Michael replacements sucked
At least the U.K version doesn't romanticise Brent and punishes him adequately for his general asshatery (although he is ultimately less intentionally of an ass than Michael is)
Mandy Sue Nellie was British, not Australian

If Dwight and Mose were the main focus, the farm would’ve been a much better episode, and maybe would’ve lead to the spinoff becoming a reality
Or Dwight and Angela can still make it happen
i think the issue was your putting dwight with random people and expect us to care...after 9 seasons?..like if this occured in season 3 fine but 9 in?..we like everyone so thats not good..your taking the best character left and putting him with more weirdos to humanize him and make a show thats is basically a cartoon in real life without any reateability?...we don't love dwight causes hes a weird farm amish naive nerd from a family of nazis...we like him cause hes human who makes mistakes who falls in love that cries that has ambitions that is a friend and will spring into action to do good he cares and how he can take the pranks and his hard working efficiency aspirational drive...no one cares about the sci fi dumb farmer..we care about the man...i was far more interested in the law enforcement side to him then the nerd or farmer side....he wanted to be a deputy hes a night watch man he is an investigator for the scranton strangler he goes out to spy on oscar and darryl and uses his ability to sabotage the mike scott paper company....that side to dwight was far cooler to me...the farmer side being shown so much was so off putting....just why?...it made his character not make any sense..how does he have time for all this?..

i'm a music theater nerd so i liked it... the scene with the cellphone - bottle of wine - balloons hurts my soul though x)
I didn't really hate it per say I just found it a bit boring and not very enjoyable didn't mean to be rude about it or anything lol
So boring :/
Nah it’s my favorite too, this video makes no sense for a number of reasons lmao, for one the office was wayyyyy more nonsensical than this episode
Scott’s tots was fantastic. The epitome of Michael Scott. Always trying to do the right thing, but often times setting himself up for failure.
Tbh Job Fair has to be the worst episode (within the time Steve Carrell was in the show)
& Schrute Farms is probably the worst episode. I remember watching it and telling myself (MAN, I really wish Micheal Scott would re-appear)
Nah, scott's tots is a great repersentation of miechal scott, the discomfort is very intentional and somewhat comedic
Jonathan Martin yep. I think it could have gone on another season, too.
I actually have a hard time making it beyond just past the midway point of the series...
@@summability that makes Kevin cry. Why are you making Kevin cry?
I totally agree
@@metamech7383 Sorry... And. I guess that's one thing to tick on the list: Kevin became a full blown man child insted of what he was in the beginning. The entire cast became parodies of themselves and it's hard to watch. But that's just me. I don't fault anyone else for enjoying it.
I actually liked this episode but agree the farm would have been a disaster. Also I know alot of people feel the office was worse off without the Michael but personally I thought the last couple of seasons were still good. I thought by far the worst episodes of the office were the ones Jim and Pam were fighting or Jim was out of the office at his new job because imo the show has always lived or died with those 2 characters.
>the office was worse off without the office
I agree!
@@DustFC Hahaha typo!!! Meant Michael 🤣
I actually kinda was interest in his weird life and what happened at home 🤷🏻♂️
The worst part for me was how much it tried to be heartwarming from minute one. The office worked bc of it's slow pace, and how much time it takes you to start loving that cast of weird, and mostly unlikable, people. That's what makes the actual heartwarming moments meaningful, because of the contrast and build up. But The Farm tries to shove wholesomeness down your throat as if it was a season finale
You see.. I found this episode absolutely HILARIOUS and great.
I will randomly rewatch this episode sometimes. The last time I watched it I actually thought it would have made an amazing spin off.
Same lol. This is one of my absolute favorites
They had a very good actor playing his brother i think it would have been a good spinoff if they tweaked his brother and sister's character.
Dominick Schrute yeah. I think it’s fair to argue that dwights sister was supposed to play the ‘normal’ character while Dwight and his brother were crazy
Dominick Schrute have you watched any of his videos with Jake and Amir? He is one of my favorite actors. Thomas Middleditch
I actually liked this episode... was actually looking forward to the series... never happened... maybe for the best.
Whitney Elizabeth how can you like Angela, she so annoying until like the last few episodes
Pause... cant forget ab Todd Packer. He is SO ANNOYING
AARM as well, one of my favorite episodes
And paper airplanes was alright.
Flowing Flowers yes that too
They needed Michael and Holly’s wedding before they ended the show. We should have seen that!
There's a common denominator between that bridges that gap between Michael Scott's departure and the finale.
I would honestly think of the last 2 seasons as the office spin off just because of how different and worse it was from previous
I feel like I'm the only one who preferred the last 2 season over the rest.
@@christianacosta4013 your feeling is correct, I suspect. But each to their own.
Still it had some good episodes, i really enjoyed the ones where they go to Florida
@@christianacosta4013 that's weird. I liked all of it
@@La-PetitMort just didn't like Michael . I get that he was supposed to be like that and that made it funnier. But I just find it in unbearable. Usually fast forward his scenes . And when I rewatch the office I only watch the last two season
The mystery of Dwight you talked about, is the reason a Creed spinoff (that people always mention they want) wouldn’t work either
Creed spinoff is the whole Office series
I actually noticed it didn't feel like an office episode with the camera angles and zoom ups
I frickin love this episode tho I would’ve loved a spin off of it
I loved that episode.
Kaizoku same here
Parks and Rec is the closest to a spin-off for The Office.
It was actually originally made to be a spin-off of the office
I've read several times that they both existed "in the same universe", but there was never a shred of in-show reference to prove that. Even something as tiny as a Dunder-Mifflin fridge magnet shown once would have done it. And Rashida Jones playing two different characters takes away from that claim for me.
@@salbro5985 Doppelgangers. There are actors in Brooklyn 99 who are also in New Girl, yet the two have crossed over, meaning they exist in the same universe.
I personally like to see a spin-off that is a prequel to the office where the actors play their characters but younger, like Wet Hot American Summer.
"Why dinner party was the best..." *pushes down her anxiety and the extreme discomfort created from The Dinner Party* .... I hate this episode
That's what makes it so good though! The secondhand embarrassment.
@@snakejunt but I watch tv for escapism rather than reliving my parents divorce lol
I feel similar about Dinner Party. Everything about Jan made me feel uncomfortable
@@SuperNoah160 same
ye but how about Scott's Tots
I actually really liked those episodes, you got to see a different side of Dwight and it overall made me like him more. Plus I love Tom Middleditch so having him play Dwight’s brother was a plus haha.
And then he went and met tres comas tequila guy.
I actually enjoyed this episode and personally it is one of my favorites of the series but that is just me I guess
I've watched office thrice and everytime i can't help notice the sudden uptake in camera/video quality for that one episode... Now i know why
Should’ve done the spin-off on Ryan and Kelly. Would’ve been pure gold
Really? A show featuring just Ryan and Kelly would have been gold? I want you to think really hard and long (that's what she said) and say that again.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
BLA5T3R Productions what is going on??
IDENTITY THEFT IS NOT A JOKE!!
Wow. What an original comment
MICHAEL! ×2
Hey I think it would be really cool if you guys could do bojack horseman mainly the second last episode or the entire show, anyways I think me and quite a few people wanna see that. Would be amazing if you did it :D
Yes
Hey you're that guy from the other videos. Smart idea not filming just your face the whole time. Much more entertaining to sit and watch. Solid work 🙌
