I drew the conclusion that the characters started to speak out more and appear to change a lot because they are becoming more comfortable with being filmed for a documentary
@@jacksonhenry5588 a lot of the "inconsistencies" on this list are just character development or things that pertain to real life. Kevin is a little bit anti-social and weird. I like to think that when someone else told him to wash his hands in earlier episodes, it became apparent to him that that is something that he should do, so he tells others to do it. So rather than being an "inconsistency" it becomes "consistent" with his character development.
Yeah on her birthday card right? Glad the writers changed her job though, she made no sense as an accountant and supplier relations led into some of her more scandalous storylines
I believe the "plot holes" about Kelly's and Oscars character development are just them being more minor characters in the pilot season then growing more in later seasons.
I think it's more that the writers changed over time and what started as a semi-realistic show about awkward office cultural got super wacky over time to where most of the characters originally written as "normal people" became caricatures. But yeah, some characters' "evolution" seemed more natural than others.
Also, bear in mind that Season 1 was basically a carbon copy of the British version. British humor is more dark and American humor is more lighthearted, so when they made the show a little different and made it their own. First season, Michael was a d*ck, but Season 2, he was more of a likable idiot. Pam gained confidence after the art exhibition when Oscar and Gil were talking about her artwork. Lots of stuff like that.
It even explains the name change he resents having his name changed from the one he shared with his dad so when he hires imposters he changes his Dads name to match his.
nice job stealing this comment... A Random Person 4 months ago Maybe Andy invited different people because his parents didn't want to. by A random person (that is there TH-cam name btw)
burify I think they made his hair like that to better match the boss' hair from The Office UK, but then the US version took off and they then did whatever they wanted with the show basically
Idk man Why I gotta put my name? For sure. If you listen to Jenna Fischer and Angela kinsleys podcast they talk about how Ricky gervais actually was the one who told them to change Michael because Americans wouldn’t relate to a boss like the UK one.
@John Barber actually between season 1 and 2 there's no such thing as transplant. I have light hair so I know that when you gel up the hair, and style them pulled backwards it will maximize the balding look, on the contrary dried up side parted rested hair would be the opposite. So it's just that, but definitely Steve carell still has hair, so he definitely underwent some procedure in last decade.
If you continue the scene where Michael talks about college parties, he goes on to describe his fantastically delusional ideas of what college parties are like (inviting the professors, etc.). I think that was just another way of him trying to pretend he went to college, and very clearly not a plot hole. It's very fitting for Michael to pretend he went to college (consider that time Darryl rhetorically asks him what college he went to) and this is another instance of that.
Yeah I think it was pretty obvious that the few instances of Michael talking about going to college are either him trying to fit in unsuccessfully or meant to be clunky segues into what he actually wants to talk about, like the scene where he says the things he misses most are the parties but really he’s just trying to get Jim to invite him to the party he knows he’s already having.
Same thing with Angela saying she's a "professional woman"- it's written as hypocrisy because she ACTS like she is, while she's sleeping with employees and really just a conniving person
Most of these just seam to assume that the characters are being honest all the time. Everyone lies to everyone in an office setting, it's just how much of human relations work.
It doesn’t matter on any show really. The reality is almost all shows start out different than they end up, and while consistency would be nice, it’s almost impossible considering how many exposures they have to write. In the end, it’s all about making 20 episodes a season being funny, and consistency gets thrown out the window.
There is a big difference between taking a different job in the same city (same building, as it turned out) when you are engaged with no kids and taking a job in a different city when you are married with 2 young kids.
There is… but she also left to go to New York and he was very supportive of her following her dream, even if it probably wasn’t going to work out. Yet she wasn’t able to do the same. I’m not one of those “omg, Pam is the worst person imaginable” types but there is some hypocrisy there. And she wasn’t exactly shown in the best light in later seasons.
@@andylmp I’ve watched the show many times and yes, I read the original comment. I realize they had kids at the time, I don’t think there’s as much of a difference as people would like to think. If the roles were reversed I have no doubt that Jim would want Pam to pursue her dream, even if it made his life a bit harder.
@@Ryan-wx8of Plus, though it would be a weird explanation, both crews were different shifts. It's possible one crew is filled with people that speak Spanish and the other was filled with Russians. One seemed not long after they closed. So around 6:00 or 7:00. The other was late at night or even after midnight.
I'm pretty sure Meredith WAS an accountant but the "supplier relations" thing came from the fact that she was in fact having relations with the suppliers for better deals and gift cards.
And anybody that's ever had a job before knows that people often apply internally for different positions, or are promoted within the company. So her having a different job from one season to the next is pretty common. But I guess if you've never worked before you can't possibly understand how somebody could work in accounting one day, and supplier relations the next.
@@hollyjoy2150 I mean, Michael leaving the office wasn't part of the plot. Steve left because they didn't offer him an extended contract, so Michael left. They just fit in the story that he married Holly and got kids etc. Him appearing in the finale was more luck than anything, because at the time he wasn't shooting anything else.
The greatest plothole was the "State" senator had a son when he met Angela the first time in that haystack fair and then the son disappears in the later episodes
Character progression can be good or bad. It has to be believable. In The Office some characters basically evolve into caricatures of themselves. That's not good writing, that's something that happens when a show has jumped the shark.
@@bobbobbins4877 well this happens in a lot of shows. Look at the sopranos season 1. But also always sunny kind of parodies this as well as the characters in that show just become more and more ridiculous as the show goes on.
actually i just watched a video recently where everyone did nothing but complain about how Andy's good character went to shit, both in the video and in the comments.
The writers were mad at Ed Helms for filming another show and missing filming the office so they added some bad character changes. You can tell throughout the ninth season they realized they made a mistake and changed his character back to the Andy Bernard we knew. We all go through personality changes in life and this was a wave of Andy’s changes. All of the characters changed. Something that is rarely brought up is how it was scripted for Jim to cheat on Pam and then put into deleted scenes. Edit: Thanks so much for the likes 🙂
The fact Erin's name was also Kelly, but her name just gets changed to Erin, and everyone (including her parents, adoptive or otherwise) call her Erin. Her brother calls her Erin, everyone calls her Erin.
nah, erin was clearly her preferred name forever. when she overheard that the boss was calling her and kelly by their last names, it was her opportunity to be called her preferred middle name by everyone rather than her legal first name happens to me everytime I get a new job
@@kayem8418 while I understand what you're saying, my point is that the writers, her brother, AND her birth mother (who wouldn't have known this preference, as, the first time she ever meets her is at the end) all call her Erin, because the writers forgot the whole Kelly joke as soon as they made it.
@@Andoryuuu her birth parents gave her up as a baby, chances are they weren’t the ones who named her. When you think about it, if her birth parents actually did name her, than she would’ve been able to find them a lot sooner by last name. They call her Erin at the end because they found her through the documentary, and for 95% of it, she’s known as Erin. Also, Reed is her foster brother, so he would know her as the name she prefers.
Well I’m one of those weird “goes by middle name” people. However when asked like at school or work what my name is I’ll say my real name, later asking to be called by my middle. So, I would have said my name is Kelly, then asked to be called Erin if I could and then all of my friends and family would call me Erin. If you go by your middle name, it’s a hot mess and you’ll answer to anything.
Honestly Daryl’s change makes sense. He went from a confident, no nonsense warehouse worker to goofy and comedic, not unlike many working in the office.
Michael Scott’s hair was slicked back in the first season to pay tribute to David Brent of the Office UK. Just like how the Pilot episode is almost word for word exactly the same as the Pilot of the Office UK, and how Michael also did not wear a suit coat just like David Brent.
Yolky well, the first episode is exactly the same as the UK first episode, almost word for word, so I think they also wanted Michael to look like David Brent with the slicked back hair and no suit coat. So they just kept it the rest of the season
It was also styled that way to really make him look like he was going bald. They later realized Michael read as more sad/pathetic than they intended, so he became more conventionally handsome by the second season.
chadnisha Can we talk about how they only call her Erin even though her real name is kelly bc there’s another kelly in the office. But then everyone keeps calling her erin even though they dont work at the office (example her foster brother) or kelly kapoor doesnt work there anymore probably bc the writers forgot their own writing
You didn't mention the worst one(the only one that actually made me confused on how they missed it). In Season 8 Dwight had an emergency appendix removal during their 3-week trip to Tallahassee, directly after surgery Dwight leaves the hospital and is seen at Sabre showing off his wound. The very next episode in Jim's hotel room we see Dwight take his shirt completely off and there is no wound or scar or anything to signify that he just had surgery the day or two prior. And then the next episode Dwight mentions his post-OP appointment while saying he will cancel that appointment in order to stay and work to get the VP job.
This actually shows how Ryan made Kelly's life go down the drains and brought out the worst in her. It's a real character development and not a plot hole or inconsistency as such.
The thing that annoyed me the most was that Dwight lied about going to the dentist when he was going behind Michael’s back, but later acted like he had no idea adults could go to the dentist.
He believed only kids go to the dentist for teeth cleaning I believe, and not adults, but then again, when he said he was going to the dentist, he claimed it was for an emergency crown, so I think he would go to the dentist if it was absolutely necessary.
Well it's a very common reason to come into work late. Whether or not he believes in adults going to a dentist. It creates a valid and believable excuse .
@vitormartins3773 I mean. Dwight just looking to get fired for anything lol. But Jim took a whole week off where Dwight took a morning to do business related things
Yes!! I know a number of people that were good at a certain sport but would make excuses to get out of it for whatever reason. Normal high schooler thing
I thought the same thing. Especially if she was expected to play all the time because she was on a team, she'd probably slack off at least once or twice. I mean this is a teenager we're talking about.
College for Michael Scott - it's obviously the character lying to fit in when he says he went... I never got the impression he actually went to college...
There's a scene where Scott said "That kids not going to college" or along the lines of that and Darryl replied "Hey uh what college did you go to Michael?" sarcastically and there was an awkward silence before they went off.. Sorry I'm foggy on the scene and what se/ep it was but I'm sure those who watched know what scene I'm referring to. Sooo anyway yeah something isn't adding up lol
Not only that, but in "The Fire" Michael talks about how we worked up the business chain, starting out as a lowly, minimum wage waiter at a restaurant, heavily implying he never attended college the whole time. Also, in another episode (I forgot which one), Michael talks about how he lost all of his tuition money in an elaborate pyramid scheme.
@Strawberrymilk nope your wrong the scene where she's at the apartment all her cats are everywhere even in the play pen with philup, she's already a wreck. Then cats get taking away then she loses apartment all to get her. Her gradual decline was important to make her the likable Angela that everyone loved at the end.
I think the whole Angela being close with her sister again thing was meant to show how much she’d grown as a person and how much happier she was not that she was with Dwight, that it encouraged her to reach out to her sister and rekindle their relationship- but idrk
If a company assumed a new co manager. And they took their job seriously in real life, you know kinda how jimmdoes his job, then a new office would be erected practically over night for them.
Good call mate. That is the same house. It looks different because in this episode Jim gets the home for Pam and him to live in but the house wasn't in great condition and had some strange things like a picture of a clown not only hung on the wall but nailed in place. A, "fixer-upper", for sure. However Pam was happy because it was something to build upon. The second photo is the outcome of their restoration and shows good attention to detail. Not an inconsistency at all.
Kelly's change was because the crew allowed Mindy Kaling to take over the character writing for her. That was Mindy's plan for Kelly at the beginning, but she was just a supporting cast at the time!
There are more than 240 movies better than pretty woman, and you can live your whole life without watching it. I've seen it a lot because I was born in the 80s and I had like 50 movies in vhs growing up. Some I watched once a month, like star wars or back to the future, others never, like fried green tomatoes, and others once in a while, like pretty woman or four weddings and a funeral. Unlike the latter, which I learn to love more as an adult than ever before, I haven't seen pretty woman since then. It's a nice little story about prostitutes being people too and that's about it. If you like julia roberts but hate whores this is a good movie for you to learn not to be such as douchebag to them, cause they're just like you, and me, and julia. But if you are a normal person who already knows that you can't treat prostitutes like shit, whether they look like julia roberts or not, then you don't need to watch this movie. At this point in 2019 the only reason to watch this movie is just to avoid somebody saying "You never seen pretty woman?!", and then having to listen to that person talk about it like you've been wasting your entire life. But no. I'm pretty sure there were even 240 movies better than that one in 1990 alone.
This is how I feel about having not watched the movie “Mean Girls”, “Pulp Fiction”, “Breakfast Club” and some other claimed movie classics Now watch this comment thread turn on me in 3 . . . 2 . . .
Also: A character from Glee appears in an episode as a pizza delivery boy. And later in the series the whole office watches an episode of Glee at a party
The real reason for character personality changes is because at the start they were going with something closer to the British version of the office, but the comedy was changed over time to suit the American palette
Olivia there’s a running theory that Angela grew up in an extremely religious home of cultish proportions, so her family might be more crazy and conservative in their ways than she is. It might explain her extreme hypocrisy (calling people whores and sleeping with multiple people without remorse, being rude, lying). It would also explain why she might be estranged from her sister
@@patstaysuckafreeboss8006 Season 5 Episode 10 "The Surplus" 10:33 seconds left in the episode he says to Angela "After all the readings from your sisters" with sisters in plural, meaning multiple sisters.
I used to think the volleyball thing was an inconsistency but from being on the lacrosse team and friends with players on the soccer team many players still willingly join the team and are good at the sport but practice is always more boring than the games and players get tired going to 2 hour practices everyday, even the best players would be happy when practice was cancelled one day so it isn’t far fetched that pam tried to get out of it sometimes especially if she had to play it during pe and school AND after school
especially considering it's gym and it may be too easy/boring. I don't usually choose to play sports or exercise in my free time, but I am usually a natural and compete well without much effort on my part. Most people who know me get surprised when I can lift heavy things, run pretty fast, or have a mean serve in the case I rarely chose to or have to. It could simply be that
Easy explanation is Pam grew out of faking BMS, and when she noticed the camera crew was confused because of her earlier statement she said all that to recover. Especially after the junior high statement which seems awkward for her.
6:24 I'm not 100% sure, but knowing Michael it's very possible that on the 4th date he attempted to propose, and the 9th date he did it again. 8:26 Its very much possible that there are multiple different cleaning groups, especially since the building is semi big. It's possible to groups come every night, or switch off
Carol may also say just any random number meaning that he proposed to her very early on. It wouldn't make sense for her to remember the exact number of dates years later.
In reference to the hardwood flooring, Oscar says something like"I always knew it was under here. I just never thought I'd see it." He knew it was there. Not a plot hole
The first one isnt really a mistake tho? Maybe she meant she skipped a FEW classes of it but still, she played in junior high and college so that would still make sense as to why shes so good.
Also, Pam looks to be serving a jump serve in volleyball, which is different from a standing serve. The tutorial this person used as reference was for a standing serve. Her form looks to be okay.
dwight saying there was a bathroom under the porch happened in season 2, the outhouse was in season 4. therefore he built an outhouse sometime between the two episodes

chadnisha Im sorry that so many people can’t accept that one of their favorite shows have errors in it. I love The Office and have watched every episode a minimum of 3 times. I really enjoyed this video and thought you did a great job.
9:40 actually, that makes sense to me. Before, she was bragging about her pride stopping her relationship with her sister. But then around the time Andy tried to quit, Angela was hitting rock bottom and tried to tell him to not let pride ruin his life. So it'd make sense that she may have reached out to her sister to make amends, just in time for her wedding with Dwight
In a deleted scene, Meredith trips over the face hole, so assuming that that deleted scene is still part of lore, we can assume that the face hole was removed shortly after
To me it was obvious that Pam started first and she had known Michael for ages. Also, she had been engaged to Roy for 3 yrs in the beginning of the series and they must have met in the Office. Jim was just starting out at that point.
In the Benihana episode, the bringing the different asian waitresses back was intentional to show Michael couldn't tell the difference between the girls.
Where u read this? Cuz they still pointed that out with the second pair of Asian girls when Michael marked her... Why would they need to change them when they literally made a point of it ... That makes no sense.... Its either a stereo type belief in casting or it was a split filming/reshoot and the original girls couldn't come back for it... Makes no sense to go to that extent to make a point... Gonna have to see some articles that indicates this
@@EM-wo6wfI looked this up and no it's not obvious at you say... in fact it wasn't like what she wrote at all? Atleast from what the actress, producers and writers all indicate. It is said that in the first storyline... they were supposed to be different waitresses, uglier ones indicating Michael and Andy failed at picking them up and had to settle for less . During filming they realize that the new asian waitresses was to pretty to play the role they intended for in the storyline so they made them out to be the same ones instead and continue with the storyline of Micheal confusing the two.... This is directly from the creator mouth and one of the Asian actress. This is an excerpt from in an article - The episode was shot in a real Benihana restaurant. According to the show's prop master, different actresses were used because Andy and Michael failed to pick up the original waitresses, and settled for "less attractive ones". At Paley Fest 2007, Greg Daniels admitted that the joke failed due to poor casting. The waitresses that comes to the office were supposed to be unattractive. Daniels stated that the actresses they hired for the role were "too good-looking"... So yeah how bout we find out the facts and not use the obvious when sometimes the most obvious is not the correct answer. So instead of coming in this thread and telling me it's obvious next time look that shit up before you comment bud. Google is your friend. Use it instead of looking like a dumb ass.
this show and the breaking bad universe could genuinely coexist. Besides Badger being Dwight's cousin, the Jesse Pinkman skit of him giving meth to Creed and then Saul Goodman being a manager after taking that offer to live a new life really makes me wish it were canon
Exactly! She gave it to him because she was in love with him! And besides, even if Erin _thinks_ she is a badass who grew up all tough and mean, we know she is really a Sweetheart's Sweetheart! 💞👼
@@paprika8334 Ice hated her ever since she played with Andy the way she did. So she dates him, then dumps him and dates Gabe, then dumps Gabe and tries to get back with Andy, but he has a new girlfriend, and she runs away. Andy realises he likes her and goes to get her back, breaking up with the other girlfriend. Then he goes on his boat trip, and she no longer likes him. She pretty much cheats on him with Pete, and starts treating Andy poorly. She calls him juvenile when she's the most immature person there. So then she breaks up with him and dates Pete. I know Andy wasn't the best in the end, but still. I've hated her since Pete
Freyja Cooper People break up. Every relationship isn’t going to be all sunshine and rainbows. In reality some people date multiple people before actually falling in love/ finding the right person. She was never head over heels in love with Gabe, she found him quite revolting actually and that’s why she broke up with him. She wasn’t happy with him and he could be quite possessive. Now Andy and Erin were just adorable. Once they started to date they were just perfect, but people change and that’s exactly what Andy did. He messed up and left her for months (never told her when he was coming back + didn’t even invite her) He rarely communicated with her over the few months he was on vacation (i think he sent her only one email while he was away) Over these few months she reevaluated her relationship and grew to dislike Andy which was justified because who leaves for months without communicating. She felt as if he forgot about her. Over this time period she met her other half but did not want to believe that he could actually be *that special person* and wanted to stay Devoted to Andy even though he was an ass. But the heart wants what it wants and it didn’t want Andy. She was hesitant to breaking up with him but she put on her Brave face and did it. I don’t think that ^ is the definition of Thot, my dude.
my favorite inconsistency in the show is the timeline of andy’s parents’ relationship. in secretary’s day he states that if it weren’t for secretaries he wouldn’t have a stepmom. but then in a later season he states that his dad ran off with another woman, leaving the family with no money. however i feel like most of the ones talked about in the video are easily explained if you know the show well enough, have a logical explanation, or are deliberate as part of a joke. ://
@@alrivera27 not 10 minutes, in the moment without her giving a second thought. At least Jim brought her into the picture before he quit his job, moved, and invested any money in it.
Exactly. When Pam did it, she didn't lie / stretch the truth about her involvement, Jim didn't have to move anywhere else or change his lifestyle much (other than not seeing Pam at work for a few days), they weren't married and they didn't have kids. It's not the same at all.
Yes! Also that was just at the start of Jim and pams relationship when they were still getting things worked out. They were still able to take risks. Jim went to philly for half of the week while he had 2 children!!
A small mistake you missed is that Erin tried some expresso when Michael made the disco café and liked it, then a few seasons later said she had never tried expresso before. Pretty minor tv mistake but I still thought it was funny
I totally believe Toby's show brother is the actor's real brother, they were so hilariously similar. There are many little inconsistencies - another being Stanley secretly happily using the stairs while everyone is losing weight and later freaking out during Stairmageddon, threatening to quit and refusing to take the stairs to the point Dwight has to drug him and physically drag him - but I don't really think those are the same as "plot holes".
The Stanley one is believable. During the weight loss episodes, hes motivated to lose weight, but then he gave up on the diet at some point and maybe felt too old to have to take the stairs. A sad truth with dieting.
The unbelievable thing actually is that the documentary crew didn't interfere. I mean where is the red line for the crew to interfere, when Pam is sad or when Dwight tries to put the office on fire and Stanley is literally dragged by using drugs, with the possibility of injury as well?
I've just noticed than on "Secretary Day" Andy says "If it wasn’t for secretaries I wouldn’t have a stepmom" but their parents are still married, they split on season 9 when Andy goes on that 3 month boat trip
About the Angela sister thing, I'd like to think that they started talking again and smoothed things over. It's very possible since Angela becomes a much better person over the course of the show, and likely less petty. They're probs referring to how close they've been since their whole 16 year thing.
Someone else pointed out it looks a bit like the guy who plays Sweeney Todd, which would make it make sense that he’s a paid actor... but then the whole “he was just a plumber” thing wouldn’t have worked.
No no no no no. I can’t even watch this long enough to find out if they have all my inconsistencies, because they started out with the volleyball thing which just adds to the plot, for me. Meredith saying she’s creeped out by Jim after he rejects her would make sense. And yeah, reusing actors or switching them up does not count at all. I was here for things like Meredith alternately having one or two kids, Dwight’s parents existing at the beginning but not later, stuff like that. I’m not even gonna make it that far because I’m annoyed by the non points.
You forgot that in stress relief, Toby tries to sell Girl Scout cookies to Dwight, but in season 8, he claims it’s his daughter’s first year as a scout.
They were actually going a different way with the character and made Steve Carrell look bad intentionally in the first season before they decided to make him a more likable character. The hair plug thing was a rumor.
Kevin Natenstedt yes you’re spot on. the first season was kinda a grungy, grey, dull looking show. im not saying the show was dull, it was hilarious, it just looked dull, on purpose. i think they were trying to make it look like the uk office. but later on they took a different approach, they made the show more colorful, they made michael have a nice full head of hair (he always did, i think they shaved it back for season 1) they made michael wear full suits instead of just a shirt and a tie, they changed jims hairdue to look nicer, just everything got more colorful and nicer and brighter looking, and one of the changes made was michaels hair.
Kevin Natenstedt you can see images from before the office season one and after near the end of the office, and hes always had the same hair, but in season 1 it looked different implying that they cut his hair for the show, not that he got hair plugs or a transplant or anything
When Pam went to join the Michael Scott paper company, yeah she doesn't talk it through with Jim first, but he's clearly aware of it and soon as she's decided. Not really the same situation
when pam left DM to work for the MSPC, she and jim didnt have kids yet and werent married + her new job didnt require her moving to a different city. jim's decision to not tell pam was completely different.
In season 8 episode 15 titled “Tallahassee” after the group (including Stanley) leave for Florida. After realizing it’s too quiet in the office. Pam noticed that Erin set the phone to voicemail and changes it. Shortly after the phone starts to ring. Pam and Andy fight over who should answer it. Everyone in the office starts yelling at them it answer the phone and you can hear Stanley say “answer the damn phone”. Around 5:20 into the episode
No, Stanley said that when Jim was trying to train Kevin to transfer the call. After that scene, they cut to Andy's talking head where he said his maid was dead.
8:31 They could've replaced the cement since there was a face sized divet in it. Also they never show that cement again and didnt have any real reason to so how do you know it's not there
Adam Nordmark i believe it was the same episode and part of the joke? I seem to remember it that way. If someone can point out which episode it is i’ll go rewatch it.
cathy either leaves dunder mifflin or stays in florida- she’s pams replacement and pam came back from maternity leave therefore not being needed anymore
juhoudew yes, she came back one day after she just gave birth- she probably told them in advance and dunder mifflin wouldn’t need a replacement for someone whos gone for 1 day
Coleman Cinema this show is based primarily off of stereotypes so I don’t think they’re trying to be too realistic. They just write whatever drives the plot forward.
Obviously Pam played Volleyball in high school. That would mean she was good enough at it, to be markedly better than people who never played, but could also easily mean she played for 4 years but ditched practice often with a fake PMS reason. Like 4 years of relatively consistent practice would look like an experienced player to somebody who held a volleyball for the first time. This is the opposite of a plot hole. It's more a nice consistency throwback.
no, later in the show stanley says 'ive already taken a shot of insulin' when demanding he wants cake, and ryan or someone says he should have an apple - maybe he developed diabetes?
Even if he has diabetes it’s not a plot hole to be upset that someone you don’t like is constantly bringing it up, and even if I have diabetes if I’ve never told anyone and someone assumes I did because I was fat I would still be upset regardless or whether or not I actually have it
The only thing that really bugs me for some reason is that they couldn't be consistent with who started working there first between Pam and Jim. It messes up the timeline lol
Nusrat Rayhan It is also implied in the first episode that Jim has been at Dunder Mifflin for 7 years. The problem is that Michael is the one who hired Jim, but he’s been manager for 4 years.
@@mamatorinq5678 IN another episode Michael says he's been there something like 14 or 15 years (it's the one where he wears a woman's suit and negotiates for a raise).
11:15 did you seriously say "Late in the series when we find out they're all subjects of the documentary"??? I've never known anyone who was so clueless about the premise of the show!! It's ABUNDANTLY obvious right from the first 3 minutes of season 1 episode 1 that they're in a documentary. And every 3 to 5 minutes in EVERY episode they keep reminding you that it's a documentary when the characters look at the camera, and they do "talking heads". I can't wrap my head around how in the world you went that long without understanding it.
Some may complain that a few of these weren't plot holes, but the whole 'Who Started First' between Jim and Pam is WAY more convoluted than I could've ever imagined and props to chadnisha for compiling all the inconsistencies.
It's convoluted and also completely unimportant. For the sake of the little moments in this show it's easiest to just accept that each started before the other. This is impossible for us as humans to understand, but keep in mind that the characters in this show are superhuman, maybe even alien.
The strangler was confirmed to be the guy that was convicted. Toby had his doubts so when he went to visit the convict he got strangled in the same way

I drew the conclusion that the characters started to speak out more and appear to change a lot because they are becoming more comfortable with being filmed for a documentary
Agreed. Being filmed like that would be hella awkward at first
I hadnt thought about that and its basically the most logical explanation to the obvious fladerization
And in the last episode, Meredith and Oscar talks about specific details about themselves which the film crew completely nerfs (e.g. origami)
Ye its just character arches

Its stupid how he included this because he cant criticize them for being inconsistent when it was a deleted scene
Ana Gambale yeah. This.
Honestly, Michael probably had no idea Meredith wasn’t an accountant.
that's something Michael would forget or not care about
He had no idea Toby has been rehired for weeks too 😂
Maddie Hassell Jim also called her an accountant
Yeah on her birthday card right? Glad the writers changed her job though, she made no sense as an accountant and supplier relations led into some of her more scandalous storylines
Jim wrote this joke, not Michael
"Apparently there are rules for drinking in the office"
*There's like 50 rules in a normal office that Michael breaks in just the first season.*
its just weird that nobody mentions it
I believe the "plot holes" about Kelly's and Oscars character development are just them being more minor characters in the pilot season then growing more in later seasons.
Oscar acting less gentle over time definitely makes sense. These people have put him through a lot.
He prefaced all the character development with a screen that said “character development”
Hailey Marie oh I thought of it as them getting more comfortable with the camera crew being there
I think it's more that the writers changed over time and what started as a semi-realistic show about awkward office cultural got super wacky over time to where most of the characters originally written as "normal people" became caricatures.
I like to think Andy's real parents wouldn't show up so he hired impostors on Craigslist.
Justin Blakeney knowing andy’s character this makes SOOO much sense.
especially since it was early on. they only showed up after he become the boss
You know they had to do it to em
It even explains the name change he resents having his name changed from the one he shared with his dad so when he hires imposters he changes his Dads name to match his.

they actually made michael scott’s hair like that in season 1 to make him unlikeable but later changed it since the show stars him
burify I think they made his hair like that to better match the boss' hair from The Office UK, but then the US version took off and they then did whatever they wanted with the show basically
So it's just that, but definitely Steve carell still has hair, so he definitely underwent some procedure in last decade.
burify Facts.
I assumed that when the show was re-upped for the second season, they made Steve get hair plugs.

Can we just agree that plot holes don’t matter in this show
Smitten Duck it doesn’t but it’s fun to find them
It doesn’t matter on any show really. The reality is almost all shows start out different than they end up, and while consistency would be nice, it’s almost impossible considering how many exposures they have to write. I'm pretty sure Meredith WAS an accountant but the "supplier relations" thing came from the fact that she was in fact having relations with the suppliers for better deals and gift cards.
Good Catch !
She used to be an accountant

But there are a lot of surprising points otherwise!
John Krasinski has explained a lot of this. They got to know their characters and developed them accordingly.
Character progression can be good or bad. It has to be believable. In The Office some characters basically evolve into caricatures of themselves. That's not good writing, that's something that happens when a show has jumped the shark.

TinnieTa21 I’ve never watched Pretty Women either
tut tut tut.

Yes I agree I don’t think that’s a plot hole I always thought that she eventually reached out to her sister and then made up

Gonna have to see some articles that indicates this
@@KDotO79 It’s literally obvious

People break up.
Over this time period she met her other half but did not want to believe that he could actually be *that special person* and wanted to stay Devoted to Andy even though he was an ass. I totally believe Toby's show brother is the actor's real brother, they were so hilariously similar. He is his real brother, he is or was married to Angela in real life
The Stanley one is believable.
