they paint hundreds of thousands of cars per year,you paint that many,you are going to get good at it,took my wifes 1971 chevelle there,i took all of the chrome off and did the body work,took hours off their work,just so i'd have a perfect canvass for them to coat the car and bake it,it turned out excellent,shot it 33u IROC Z BLUE,couldn't take it to the market,too many wanted it ,the prep is everything,if you don't have time to do it,they'll do it,this was my second car painted at macco,also painted my 74 challenger there,white,same problem,people wanting to buy it,and many notes under the windshield wipers,remember any new coating on an old car saves it for another 10 to 20 years,that's what we want RIGHT?

They are not the same as first class refinish shop, but most of those don't even want to do all over paint jobs, and if they do, they will charge a minimum of 2500.00 with no body work. So, there is a place for Maaco and think they do a pretty good job for what they charge.
All Maaco shops are not the same, so go see their work ahead of time to know what you're getting. Now....to be totally honest here...for the money, this is a pretty decent job. Maaco has had a bad reputation for years because too many people expect a $5000 job for $500.00!! It just doesn't work that way! And no I don't work for Maaco and never have.

The customer service and food might be way better. Same principles apply at these sorts of places. I had a Maaco paint job on my first car. I still have the hood of that car. Paint still looks damn good 8 years later.
I can relate my experience. I had a Western TN MAACO paint my black 96 vette. They had 3 different quality paint jobs available. I had talked with many people and they said the top quality job is what you want for a vette. I paid 18 hundred for it in 2013. They did a fine job. But that cheapest paint job they offer is junk. Ya get what ya pay for.
I dont know but i paid 2500 at maaco i have a 2003 acord black i want to repaint to white and when i paid 2500 i was shock it look like show room from factory i love it till now it still shine and looking new thanks maaco

Maaco is ok if you have a good conditioned beater you just want to look passable. In about 1983 I had my 1965 nova wagon done by maaco for $175,00. BUT.....I pulled off all the chrome and wet sanded the body before I brought it in. Funny thing was (or not so funny) they painted it the wrong blue. They must have read the paint microfish samples wrong. They painted it GM Tahitian Turquoise . Actually looked pretty good.
My big concern would be with paint adhesion, hoping that body prep was #1 in importance. You don't want to see paint flake off from daily use, like many imports you see, and you don't want it flying off in a car wash. They looked to prep that 'stang pretty well.
I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe that I have owned for 13 years and it's pretty much rust free, runs like new, but the paint was peeling off. I had my mechanic go over it to be sure it was worth painting. After inspecting it very thoroughly he said definitely. I called many body shops as I had heard stories about NAACP but in each case when they found out there was no body work to be done they refused stating that the bodywork was where they made their profit. All of them referred me to NAACP but advised me that they offered several tiers of paint job and that you get what you pay for. I took it there and they showed me past jobs they had done and helped me pick the job I wanted. I went for the best one. My wife was a bit skeptical but when we picked it up we were both astounded. It looked better than the factory paint job. It's been a year and not a single problem or defect has arisen. This particular shop was staffed by car guys who really liked to show their skill on a top tier job. So check out your shop and if they aren't like that drive to one that is if possible. I contacted corporate Maaco , no luck ( I was told that they would get back to me, after a week, no call.
I have a small shop and our paint jobs start at 1500 for basecoat clear coat paint jobs, and includes wetsanding and buffing but if the customer doesn't want to pay the extra, then they have to deal with the orange peel...that's a pretty good job for $1000

Be honest on the premium paint package for 1200 what should i expect for longevity it says 5 year warrenty my maaco in winchester va is saying 4k for a car with just a couple dings and minor body work its a miata so it doesnt have a roof to paint either. @@tba6403 They do care about what they do. A $1,000 paint job does not get wet sanded and buffed to remove orange peel and doesn’t get masked and prepped in the same manner as a $10,000 paint job. Not only that but you don’t spend hundreds of labor hours on the body to prep it for paint.

It always depends on the franchise, but most of the time, they do a terrible job on the bodywork. I would rather do a perfect job on the bodywork, do even primer before going to Maaco, once the fresh paint is on the body you can see every imperfection and it hurts.
Can you tell them what to tape and what not too because I see some where they paint the door handles of a truck and id hit the floor if they did that to my truck
Got talked into having a bed liner paint job done on a Dodge Charger. It’s matte black and it looks terrible (not a Maaco paint job) A guy that paints cars on the side. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? I’m assuming all the bed liner paint has to be sanded down first ?
I worked for these fools for about 3 hours back in the 1997 here in phoenix Arizona off of Van Buren and I-10 and my first vehicle was to get it ready for paint so i took out my sander and started getting down then i was stopped and told not to sand with a DA sander i was given a red scrubbing pad to scratch up the surface i was like WTF and packed my tools up and walked

Lmfao, that is not worth it. For a grand I expect them to sand it down to bare metal or plastic, primer, paint, clear coat, and wax. This job was worth no more than 600.
they still have my car after 3 weeks for a paint job and 3 or 4 very small dings. I took them a new hood and new bumper cover( both gm in the boxes) well they apparently painted the hood then droped it and bent the crap out of it and try to tell me it was that way..and yet the dammage was in the new paint...he said they were going to repaint it due to that dammage?? WTF?? the brand new gm hood is now junk!!! the hood was also all orange pealed massively !! THE REST OF THE CAR IS FULL OF TRASH!!!! and this was the most expensive paint job they have!!! he said they would take care of it and it would be ready next week...welll it's been over a week..still nothing. Ive painted more cars than I can count, in paint boths,in car ports, in big automotive garages and Ive never seen any paint jobe mine or any body elses that had this much trash in the paint. and the hood borders on wrinkle paint!! and who the hell drops a brand new hood effs up the paint and tells the costomer thats how you brought it?? I once had a 1985 Moritz Cadillac they painted the same color and the guy said that he had it outside and because of it he got several more jobs from it they did a fantastic job and forget what I paid for it that was way over well 1985 today I no longer have the car but they did do a great job and now I'm going to go and have another one done

My MAACO is different than most. We do more Collision work than anything else. Just remember that there are $299 paint jobs and $20,000 paint jobs. You get what you pay for so keep your expectations in line with the $600 and you will be super happy.

Okay I can now guarantee I will never take one of my cars to MAACO. I am way to picky and I would cry if they did that to my Mustang or my SVT. You get what you pay for.
Well, I think that's the point. The example shown here is a cheap Mustang that gets a $1,000 paint job. You can get a paint job for $399.00 or $19,000 or more depending on who is doing it so I think for a thousand dollars, we did pretty good on this car.
Campus Automotive Inc well my 2010 F150 got hit by a drunk driver (T-Boned) I got all of the body work (with OEM parts) and paint and it cost me $2,549 and it came out looking show room and 8 years later still looks just as good. I’m sure this is a great deal for people on a tight budget that don’t mind repainting in a few years. It’s just that I personally would not take my car there.

Disclaimer: one person saying that it “looks showroom”, is entirely Different than a pair of Experienced eyes. That being said, anyone who walks in to a production paint shop, expecting a show car finish, is pretty Ridiculous. IME, a good deal of painters from these shops can be Excellent painters (practice makes perfect). But, the caveat is the quality of materials, and prep. There’s a Reason that PPG, BASF, Glasurit products are $300+/Gal.

Do not trust or use Maaco they do not care about their customers. If you have a problem with a shop Maaco will just take the shop side. They do not care on how bad the job is after the 3rd try and dents in the hood etc......

I think there are MAACO's in Sandy, Layton, and Logan. I don't know the owners but I would take it by and get them to look at it.

It it wise to let them do all of the sanding? I was going to work of some areas before i took it in and apply some primer over the areas i cleaned up.

I worked for these fools for about 3 hours back in the 1997 here in phoenix Arizona off of Van Buren and I-10 and my first vehicle was to get it ready for paint so i took out my sander and started getting down then i was stopped and told not to sand with a DA sander i was given a red scrubbing pad to scratch up the surface i was like WTF and packed my tools up and walked

they still have my car after 3 weeks for a paint job and 3 or 4 very small dings. I took them a new hood and new bumper cover( both gm in the boxes) well they apparently painted the hood then droped it and bent the crap out of it and try to tell me it was that way..and yet the dammage was in the new paint...he said they were going to repaint it due to that dammage?? WTF?? the brand new gm hood is now junk!!! the hood was also all orange pealed massively !! THE REST OF THE CAR IS FULL OF TRASH!!!! and this was the most expensive paint job they have!!! he said they would take care of it and it would be ready next week...welll it's been over a week..still nothing. Ive painted more cars than I can count, in paint boths,in car ports, in big automotive garages and Ive never seen any paint jobe mine or any body elses that had this much trash in the paint. and the hood borders on wrinkle paint!! and who the hell drops a brand new hood effs up the paint and tells the costomer thats how you brought it?? WTF??? I havent painted a car in 20 years, I wish I had done my car instead of them effing it up. Im partly paralized on my right side so spraying is a painefull thing to do. but dam.

I once had a 1985 Moritz Cadillac they painted the same color and the guy said that he had it outside and because of it he got several more jobs from it they did a fantastic job and forget what I paid for it that was way over well 1985 today I no longer have the car but they did do a great job and now I'm going to go and have another one done

My MAACO is different than most. We do more Collision work than anything else. Just remember that there are $299 paint jobs and $20,000 paint jobs. You get what you pay for so keep your expectations in line with the $600 and you will be super happy.

I got my work van painted in Virginia Beach and they did a horrible horrible horrible job and they had horrible customer service. I couldn’t tell if it was racism or just horrible ppl. Wasted my $1,600… the quality of work was done by a kindergartner….
Okay I can now guarantee I will never take one of my cars to MAACO. I am way to picky and I would cry if they did that to my Mustang or my SVT. You get what you pay for.
Well, I think that's the point. The example shown here is a cheap Mustang that gets a $1,000 paint job. You can get a paint job for $399.00 or $19,000 or more depending on who is doing it so I think for a thousand dollars, we did pretty good on this car.
Campus Automotive Inc well my 2010 F150 got hit by a drunk driver (T-Boned) I got all of the body work (with OEM parts) and paint and it cost me $2,549 and it came out looking show room and 8 years later still looks just as good. I’m sure this is a great deal for people on a tight budget that don’t mind repainting in a few years. It’s just that I personally would not take my car there.

Disclaimer: one person saying that it “looks showroom”, is entirely Different than a pair of Experienced eyes. That being said, anyone who walks in to a production paint shop, expecting a show car finish, is pretty Ridiculous. IME, a good deal of painters from these shops can be Excellent painters (practice makes perfect). But, the caveat is the quality of materials, and prep. There’s a Reason that PPG, BASF, Glasurit products are $300+/Gal.

Do not trust or use Maaco they do not care about their customers. If you have a problem with a shop Maaco will just take the shop side. They do not care on how bad the job is after the 3rd try and dents in the hood etc......
