- Round 2! Huge Surprise! Cutting Compound Comparison Apex Detail Style! Bracket Style Compound Comparison! Labocosmetica Supreme Cut, Phoenix EOD PAPA, Hydro Silex, And Jescar Performance Cut. In this video, we compare modern cutting compounds just like we did years ago bracket style. Most of us want a car with paint that’s a rich colour with a clear, glossy shine. But over time it’s easy for the paint finish to become damaged and dull, marred with scratches and swirl marks. On older cars, oxidation causes the paint finish to become dull and chalky. A cutting or rubbing compound is an abrasive material suspended in a paste that is used to restore car paintwork. It can polish out paint scratches and remove old and oxidized paint to reveal fresher paint underneath. Lets compare the four top, modern cutting compounds.
These compounds can be found on Amazon.

I don't think there's a more comprehensive set of video reviews on compounds and polishes than what Brian has done. Great video!
Brian is the freaking Man!! Love these videos. It doesn’t get any better or more honest than this. And this fellow is busy… yet He makes videos for us! Thank You!!!
Thank you, Brian. You did listen to my suggestion. You started from 800 and up. Lets see the results. I have to pause the video and post this comment where you mentioned my suggestion. THANK YOU.
Once again, my all-time favorite is 3D One.
Griots fast correcting, Sonax compounds and 3D ac 510
Yeah I second that,Griots fcc performs different than any other compounds I’ve tried. One of my favorites along with Koch h9
Your videos have really helped in while going down the rabbit hole of detailing. Thanks for the great content. It’s true appreciated.
Beyond excellent series!!! Much appreciated Brian!!! 👍🏻 🇨🇦
Sadly none of these are available here in EU, still a pleasure to watch!
A very helpful video Brian 💎👊🏼This is a great example of what to use and what the capabilities of the products have to offer. Thanks 👍🏻
Nasiol has some fire compounds. 105 is the heavy compound. Haven't used it. But hear its rocks in the bottle. 305 the medium cut I have used and it's fantastic.
Thanks for the quick tip on water spraying for soft clears for wipe off, I was going nuts one day trying to wipe off and messing up my work …..I’m going to try it with waterless wash mixed into water ….
Awesome video, can’t wait to see the final four compete against each other!
Oh and btw thank you for applying my suggestion to use panel prep in this video, it means a lot that you read and apply your followers comments 👏👏
If you can, please include Griots Fast Correcting Cream in your tests, I think it deserves to be put to test (not endorsed by Griots by any means, I just like how it performs “different” than the other products out there).
I really enjoy your product reviews like this. Reminds me of the older videos. How about this style for detail sprays? Seems like everyone has a detail spray now!!!
Awesome video and product comparison good friend
Amazing Brian, I missed so much these tournaments. I guess is too late to add Sonax Ultimate Cut (6+/3). I think is worth to put it against 3 more.
Thanks brian, my matts magic detail tech channel is definitely not high production value, i wish it was but id rather show stuff in real time and what you see is what you get like your channel. Sharing knowledge and my testing results and the pads im working on and releasing
Malco makes a cutting compound that I was impressed with
Great video. I want to try the Jescar. But I may rethink that now
Brian following you for many years . Love your channel. Thanks for what you do. You raised my knowledge to all aspects of restoration 😊
Great video as always Brian! Let’s see Angelwax Ressurection Extreme…. I’ve seen it first hand almost bring back 600 grit scratches with a lake country purple wool pad on a rotary … I guarantee if anyone doubts me there is a video out there to prove it lol
Fantastic choices brother
I really like your method of bracketology! May the best cutter win!
Loving the bracket videos again Brian. Appreciate the work and effort it takes to give us informative and useful information.
I have to admit it I was pulling for Papa cut
Nailed it B....
Hey Brian. Thanks for all your videos. Great info, no wasted time, honesty, motivating. I’ve been a fan for as long as I’ve been on TH-cam. By far the channel I watch the most. Since u asked for suggestions I wanted to suggest 3D I-Cut which I think works great. I would love to see the rest of the 3D compounds like 500, 501 and 510. CarPro UltraCut (I thought it’s pretty new). Thanks
Looks like it 👍🏽!!!
Brian dropping another Gem
Great test! Could you please do hydro silex, koch chemi and labo cosmetica test and with different pads? "Would really like to se how these responds to different pads"... Pick 3 compounds and woll pad and fibre pad and a few foam(agressiv medium soft) pads
Very interesting results... love this stuff 👌
Great video as always!! Do you know anything about the Scholl products? Like to see them in action!! Have a great weekend Brian!! Thanks!!
I’d like to see Menzerna brand Cut compound and let’s not forget about😮 if you keep that one on hand. If not whichever Jescar compound you have I’d like to see👍 '
Fun! So cool Brian
Hi Brian 😎
Great video, very informative!
I would like to see DIY gold standard polish in the mix.
Thanks!!.. 😎
Could you please do a test using the Zvizzer
Line
Brian: Truthfully? When I do a correction or what ever I just keep doing passes until I'm satisfied. The 1 and 2 pass? I couldn't ever be satisfied. I'd do passes into oblivion if that's what it took. Enjoying your presentations. Thanks!
Thank you sir!
Thanks for the video sir
These carwash scratches are crazy. What grit are most carwash scratches ? Comparable to 2000 grit for example ? I'm trying to learn how to remove carwash scratches on a 14 yr old Honda as a beginner.
Wondering if you have used from Majestic Solutions their XCC, CC1 and Vibracut(1000) also P and S EgoMaker.
Always ask Pete to plug the polisher first 😜😜
Nasiol 305 & 505, CSI Ceram XX please
Brian, I thought the performance cut compound was designed to be more similar to 3d1, cut n finish, etc.
Did we try Meguires Final Cut?
Nice
I wish I could be there to give you a hand. Let me know if you do . I have a sister that lives in mavirn and I was staying in coatsville for a year ....
4th (3rd)
I don’t know why you always only go over an 2 times. Every test pattern has always been two up and two down in a box. If you’re doing a straight line you still need to do 4 passes.
Am I first? 😂
I like to put the cheap 7 dollar Turtle Wax in just to see
Pete isn’t doing a great hob of plugging stuff in. I think he should be fired!
