Hmm, not sure about that but Singolo was a tough one on fit. Dawn gets that right. Singolo was also a proof of concept on that bass tuning which is very different than Dawn. But if people enjoy it, that's great.
That why i love my cayin N3 ultra because i can alter the timber from clean/neutral in solid state to warm/smooth in classic tube mode, or if i want the best of both worlds i switch to modern tube mode which is a mixture of tube and solid state, so i can tame bright sounding iems with the classic tube mode or tame the bass down in solid state
Hi Paul, under $500, which iem would be best for the getting the most micro details in the midrange? Where Reverbs and decays are more prominent in the low and higher end of the mids… I mostly listen to strings and vocal heavy tracks. Will letshuoer cadenza 4 or simgot em10 have this ? Or any other suggestions… Many thanks in advance…
I think Moondrop Variations is hard to beat if you want to max out your budget. I like Dusk with the micro planars if you don't have Variations budget. I also like S12 2024. At the end of the day, its hard to beat the EST tribrids even with higher count BA set. Typical audio problem, Variations has great upper range, but some people hate the lower. I will also say that you need a decent dac/amp to match whatever set you buy.
I used to think every Harman tuned iem sounds the same. Turns out, the manufacturers has their own tweaked version of Harman tuning, so i guess it would sound different from my Wyvern Abyss .
Yes. what is confusing is there are Harman sets that closely follow the target and they present similar characteristics. There are also brands which use modified Harman and you can have those sound similar too. Kiwi Ears Cadenza is like that. Dawn isn't really Harman or modified Harman with that bass shelf.
I do not, but studio reference is also hard to find. Softears uses Reference and Studio in their names and I happen to like the RSV. Then there are brands like NF Audio/NF Acous now which caters to professionals and studios.
@@PaulWasabii im still not sure what a studio reference FR tuning for iems looks like, but in over ear closed back headphones, the dca e3 is closest I've heard to that ideal studio reference tuning without the need for any eq. i just dont know what the translation of that tuning from e3/over-ear-closedback to an equivalent FR tune for iems, compensating for the differences in acoustic nature of the two types of headphone
Tough choice. I have to admit that I like EDM and prefer a tighter harder hitting bass style. That typically needs a different bass shelf than those high subbass shelfs as those tend to just boom. As I said, the Dawn bass is ok, it was better on non-bass genres. In that style, I'd try KZ Saga, cheap way to get a lot of subbass.
Nah, that is like with the planars, 14.8mm, 14.5mm, 14.2mm. There are larger DD that do make a difference though, I think BQEYZ has one. Elysian Pilgrim is a superb 9mm. Dark Magician was a 10.2mm iirc. Could it sound better or different with different tuning, possibly.
I will ignore it as that was the point of Singolo. Hitting that bass shelf was the point of that set and not the same as Dawn. Dawn also fits better. Yeah, Simgolo was a tough proof of concept. Without the concept, not really the same set.
@@PaulWasabii to me it feels more like the Singolo was tuned more towards 5128, and the Dawn is more 711/1990 "old school" Mild V shape target. It is unquestionable, however, that the two drivers are the same design with slight deviations from harmonics and driver coating, and of course the differences in the actual port/bass reflex tuning. But beyond that, the shell is largely the same shape, and both use the same tubes to the bass reflex chamber /cavity under the face plate. This is just Badge Engineering at its finest. This is the Inawaken Chevrolet to KiwiEars Buick. With the main exception being that the Dawn has a better accessory package, and a stock cable worth using, unlike the Singolo cable whos best feature is its ability to be used as a zip tie alternative to lash two items together in an emergency.
Bought this set as a blind buy. Really liking it so far.
Yep, nice set and they didn't overcharge for it.
Heard some in the community & forums mentioned that it's a "better Singolo" in both looks & tuning.
Hmm, not sure about that but Singolo was a tough one on fit. Dawn gets that right. Singolo was also a proof of concept on that bass tuning which is very different than Dawn. But if people enjoy it, that's great.
Beautiful set with great cable and case
Its a nice package and appropriately priced.

Yes, that is handy on sets like this or Kiwi KE4. Slight tweak will turn them into different sets.
For a second I thought that was a Phoenixcall without the art print
The shell on Phoenixcall is different shape but both are nice designs
Oh man I like dynamic drivers but I love bass heavy music too 😅
Its a big DD, but not the one for big bass tracks. I thought KZ's Saga was a fun DD too that is more fun on bass tracks.
👍👍

Hi Paul, do you have a ranking list available? I'd like to learn your top several recommendations for studio refence level tuned iems
I do not, but studio reference is also hard to find. Softears uses Reference and Studio in their names and I happen to like the RSV. Then there are brands like NF Audio/NF Acous now which caters to professionals and studios.

what would u say is better for edm the dawn or the juzear clear?

Which one do you prefer, this or EW 300?
I am not really a timbre priority person, I like details and resolve so will usually lean towards hybrids or planars over 1DD.
Is that extra millimeter of diameter vs the usual 10mm noticeable in any way?
Nah, that is like with the planars, 14.8mm, 14.5mm, 14.2mm. There are larger DD that do make a difference though, I think BQEYZ has one. Elysian Pilgrim is a superb 9mm. Dark Magician was a 10.2mm iirc. Could it sound better or different with different tuning, possibly.
These Inawaken dawn o los Truthear zero red?
I'd probably take Red as I like more detail/resolution but if you don't know, Dawn might be more generally appealing
So are we just going to ignore that this is an OEM Singolo with out the bass reflex chamber???
I will ignore it as that was the point of Singolo. Hitting that bass shelf was the point of that set and not the same as Dawn. Dawn also fits better. Yeah, Simgolo was a tough proof of concept. Without the concept, not really the same set.
