Nice review. I am pretty done with the Simgot tuning. I have modded both the 500 & LM that I own.
Hi Paul, how does it compare to KZ castor pro's. When are you reviewing those pairs.
If you already owned the zs10 pro and zs10 pro 2 would you still comsider the zs12 pro x or perhaps forgo them , using the zs10 pro for gaming and zs10 pro 2 for music? I do tend to be s bit treble sensitive.
I could gift someone my zs10 pr0 if you think the zs12 pro x would be better than those for gaming. Really want your opinion.
The zs10 pro already are a bit on the bright side and give me great game positioning so if ZS 12 are brighter especially in treble that would be a no go.
i think it more or less replaces the mp145, mp143 and maybe heyday, but s12 and by means letshour still dominates the planar market as they have much cheaper options as well in the form of artti t10, t10 pro and s08 and lets not forget s15 is still the overall benchmark still yet to be beaten.
How it compare to quintet
i cant tell much about this iems cos its my first iems that i actually was able to use with small size ear tips then i tested few others Moondrop, AZLA Xelastec and TANGZU Tang they all basically fine and better then stock but i preffer moondrop cos of their smaller size and flexibility so i would say moondrop a bit better then tangzu and xelastec sticking really hard same as everything sticking to them so i dont like them cos of that normally im using headsets dt 880, 990, sivga luan, marshall major and aria organic so i cant really compare sound quality of iems they just worse then anything i listed but i guess for its price they good and doing their job only thing that they are bassy
How is it that IEM were stagnant forever and now it seems like we have a new and improved meta tuning every couple of months? Was there a technical hurdle or did they simply choose not to make them sound good?
stick 2 of those in yo Snapper....tune u right up i'd suppose...idk i dint have 1?🎉🤙
i got 2 ears KB02 is why i appered i suppose suposium strangeled eSteangedado
The cable looks nice. Is the treble in general more piercing than ea500LM? I'm asking because it's on the edge of my tolerance level for treble.
what other iem do you recommend best for vocal under $50?
Late to the comment party as usual but I just ordered the Max to replace my iFi Uno. I really like the iFi sound and those ESS dacs are amazingly clear and detailed while very dynamic, and I wanted an inexpensive iFi product with a 4.4mm bal output. I thought not having a detachable cable would be an issue but since it has no controls of any kind on it, I can deal with it. Thanks for the review. 😊
You hit on two complaints, no controls and no detachable cable. I think iFi does their thing but I like vol controls. I like Max though, more than the original.
Thanks for another great review. Any chance you're going to review the TRN Jaws? I'm kinda so-so on their IEMs, but that driver config intrigues me.
I doubt it, graph looks like old TRN and its up there in price. Yep, interesting config if they can pull it off
Thanks for the forecast! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
Does the Sound leak on this IEM? and how is the isolation compared to average IEM?
Yes, not quite like an open headphone, but if you hold the back up to your ear, you can hear the music. Same goes for isolation
money bags over here with all the printing he does lol nice review mate
The fact that they added the upgraded cable, definitely makes it a more appealing package.
It happens to be one of my favorite cables so it just sits on my desk.
simgot makes great iem too bad no anime waifu on the packaging.
No waifu but the name is from a movie reference: The naming rules of the ET142 model follow the naming rules of the LV426 planet and the LV223 planet that appeared in "Alien: Prometheus"
It looks a bit larger than the ea500LM. Is it?
Hi paul, thanks for the zenith review. How is it compared to KZ PRX? I own PRX and it's just amazing. For me it's really hard to find a con in PRX it's that good!! Will Zenith be an upgrade to PRX or just a sidegrade? Please clarify Thanks in advance. Have a good day.
A 1DD isn't really going to be an upgrade over a planar unless the planar has timbre problems. If you like PRX, Zenith isn't a downgrade, but technically not as good as a planar. Its a great DD though for people who hate planars.
Thanks for another great review. I have no planar set yet. Though it's really interesting to hear your thoughts on them. I will have to get one soon I think.
Part of me thinks we will see more planars but not sure. We had quite a few release in a short period so maybe that continues, maybe it is done for now.
Could you suggest me whether I should go for the Wyvern Abyss or the Cadenza? I'm more into the Bass & detailing focused typa guy and tend to often listen to higher volumes.
The two aren't radically different, get the cheaper one. I happen to prefer Wyvern but as I said, too close, you wouldn't need both. If you want something more detailed, less bass, that is 7hz Zero or KZ Libra X
Lookfs fantastic. Thansk Paul.
I got it recently and it's nice! It's warm and rich.
When you say s12 2024 do you include s12 pro in that too? how does those 2 compare?
As I understand it they are the same shell/driver/foam so you can EQ a Pro to be a 2024.
@ yes ok but which is newer? If we buy normal s12 is it 2024 always?
@ the 2024 is the newest release.
My opinion, S12 2024 is tuned slightly better than S12 Pro. The problem is there is no graph accurate enough to EQ one to the other but the drivers should be the same or very similar. There was also more variation on the S12 Pro and I think S12 2024 was more consistent, perhaps the drivers were checked. Being friends with Mike Bruce, S12 Pro variation is a real thing as I had touched a lot of sets.
@ Oh this is interesting! I knew about the S12 variation but wasn't aware the 2024 had reigned it in. I suppose making a limited run makes that easier?
Why is the nozzle so huge
Bought one of these with the Castor Bass improved and I gotta say the ANC and transparency mode are pretty mid, the difference is not very noticiable and I'd dare to say not worth for the price if youre looking specifically for ANC. It literally costed the same as my Haylou S30 and these have much better ANC. As for sound quality compared to wired mode it's the same, at least for me. Dunno how different are compared to others since I only have the AN01
Same, why I put it at the end of the feature list. I think it would have been fine just as a new LDAC earhook.
Thanks for explaining how IEMs can graph similarly in the treble yet have a different intensity in person.
Planars and microplanars are getting really hard to just look at graphs. They tend to not graph as expected so it does take a bit of explanation and as I said, take a look at the brand's own measurement as well
it is already known that 711 couplers aren't very accurate in the treble. 5128 measurements should be more indicative.
I'm a low-volume listener, so it sounds like this isn't for me. What's a really good low-volume set below $300?
P7? Maybe Odysee? Just got it but the volume might work better. I think the Meta sets tend to have the same problem, the relaxed upper range needs more volume
I am using these non-stop since I received them. They handle everything with flying colors, even very busy tracks. They do become too mid-centric with higher volume. Moondrop spring tips here, these stay on solid even without a lip on the nozzle.
Too midcentric, all the mids is what I usually say. Slightly unforgiving on some tracks but generally I turned it up more than down. Glad to hear you are enjoying them
Does the sound leak on this IEM? and how loud? would the person beside me will hear what I'm listening? Sorry for many questions, but im really interested on this set.
@@lisfos7428 I does leak a bit more than a typical closed back earphones. But only slightly so. One can hear what is playing within a few inches in a very quiet environment. Keep in mind that many recent earphones with DD have compensation vents on the outside to avoid driver flex and sound distortion. That already leaks some sound. Would I wear P50 when going out, on public transportation, on the plane? Most likely not. It also lets outside sounds in. And I would not care about big stage and/or technicalities on the go. I use cheaper and more comfortable earphones for that.
Might get this over P7. Although bass isn’t necessarily to my preference, it’s easier to EQ than the mids and treble of the P7
EPZ uses decent 10mm DD so that should work and the midbass is probably fine, just tick up the sub. But yeah, that is why I said it the way I did, great set for one person may not be for the next but EQ bass is easier as you said.
hey man, which one would you get. The KZ Xtra, KZ Carol, or Moondrop space travel?
Carol. Never heard space travel but my gut says look at the bass curves, one might have more bass than the other
vs hype2 ? thanks
Hmm, kinda goes back to P50 tuning, its more midcentric and Hype 2 is not, closer to U-shape like other sets. I am a sucker for these microplanars though, I'd probably take P50 and EQ the bass if you want it closer to Hype 2. I like the Hype 2 DD also. That is a tough choice as I like the mids more on P50.
Does open construction affects the sound isolation or it's like on any other iem with a traditional design?
Would like to know this too. If the open back is only a design element or if it's actually functional.
@JoseFerreira-zb7wh he already said in the review that this is actually real. But this also could be the weakest point of P50, if it's actually let the outside noise come freely compared to the traditional design iems, while listening not in perfect conditions.
@@uglyfate1326 sorry, didn't get that part.
Yeah its more open than I assumed. I assumed it was a decorative mesh over a small opening but I think its more open and will affect isolation.
@@PaulWasabii that can actually be a good thing. I don't use iems when walking around because i want to remain aware of the surroundings (people, cars, animals, etc.) Isolation can be a security issue in this context. I usually use earbuds in these instances. Now i'll try iems 😀
Would this work well with jazz?
Yes as I like a more even balance to jazz, avoid the bigger bass shelves which tilt the balance. The microplanars and bass shelf help hear the nuance and micro details on instruments.
What would be your top recommendation for jazz. For acoustic piano trios mostly. 200-300$. My current favorites are the cadenza 4, s12 2024, fiio FD15 and dunu kima 2 @@PaulWasabii
Great video! I'm wondering about the comfort of the P50s. Are they like big, open-back headphones where you can hear your surroundings when the music is off? I'm thinking of buying the P50s for comfort and to make sure my ears don't overheat. I'd also like the Aful Performer 5+2 for when I don't want my music to leak. Currently, I have Aful P5s, and I'm thinking of upgrading to the P7s, but I'm not sure if the upgrade is significant enough to justify the cost. Also, would it make sense to own both the P7s and the P50s? What do you think?
It would make sense to own both P7 and P50, but I would buy P50 first as that is different from the P5 which you have. As I said, volume plays a big part in both sets, most people are either lower or med/higher.
I guess as a low volume listener the sm4 seems better
Yeah, SM4 is quite energetic. I think someone will do a meta that doesn't need as much volume but for now, they are all tilted similarly which is harder at low volume.
@PaulWasabii do you listen at higher volumes or low volumes Paul?
May you try out the Tri i3 mk3?
definitely Bro.
I was interested and then not after a couple friends said the bass is the weak link on that set. I don't need a lot of bass, but it needs to have balance for most genres and that one seemed to have an issue.
@@PaulWasabii Understandable I also heard that this iem is cable sensitive (BangsAudioReview and others said that the default cable was dampening the treble and bass). Anyways thanks for the respond
@@PaulWasabiiTo my ears I don't think at all that the bass is weak and well controlled and deep.
Is it an upgrade in technicalities to the T10 (detail and separation, mostly), or should I just EQ the T10?
EQ just change tonality
@Tzen_g7 Do you EQ? Because that's not true. You can change anything with EQ. It's not always easy, but you can.
Its not really an upgrade but slightly different as its BA+microplanar. Unless they botched the tuning on T10, the techs should be similar. If you can EQ, I would try P50, its a revealing tuning and might work well on T10
@PaulWasabii thank you. Maybe later this year they will release something that IS an upgrade, but at the same level of.price...
Thank you for the notes Paul. How would you say the P50's mids compare to the darling Volume S?
That is the $300 question, and I don't have a Volume S yet. My issue is I would probably take the microplanars over BA only. I think Jay said something about the two, maybe Tonedeafmonk did or will. I am hoping to borrow one later but I am hesitant on it right now. For now, I think there are some nice DD+BA hybrids so more interested in the sets that bring something new.
They missed such great opportunity to call this mp5 😂 micro planar 5( for 5 drivers 😉)
I like the set, but would have been happier with mp5
much love from Indonesia ❤️
Hi Paul. I work mainly in music production, and in 99% of my work, I'll focus on exactly the 200Hz. This is where the 'boom' happens that will make things muddy and mask the rest of the midrange if there is too much energy there. I came upon your review because I was thinking of purchasing the KB02. I hope the drop in 200Hz was not an error and is common on all units! The Zero Red has something similar but does not require a drop as the bass elevation starts right after. Inversely, the KB02 starts a little before, so the drop was done to keep the midrange clean while the bass extends all the way to the sub-bass. This is a good way of having a lot of bass while preventing any 'contamination' to the lower midrange!
To be really honest, I am not sure what that 200hz is on KB02. Zero Red is the crossover point. I also questioned why it didn't appear in some other measurements. Its not quite like Zero Red though as if it is there, it appeared very narrow. To me, its a mystery, possibly anomaly.
@@PaulWasabii Indeed. The best thing would be to have the possibility to compare two units and see if the difference can be heard. The lowest level of the 'notch' falls exactly as where the level of the midrange is, that's why I suspected it to be deliberate. As you mentioned in your video, the graph of the upper midrange is also deceptive, but others have mentioned this but not the 200Hz notch. It would be great if you have the chance to compare it to another unit to see if there are discrepancies!
Knowledge Zenith Zenith 😅 what a creative naming, to make everybody sure that it is Zenith
Does this still hold up to modern 80 dollar sets? Its on sale on aliexpress. I had thought to get this a long time ago. I just hever did.
Nah, not worth it.
@PaulWasabii thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I was thinking a modern day set like Sonus by 7hz for 50 bucks might actually be it's equal. That's sometimes on sale for 40 ish dollars too.
Really different topic, how this perform in game? Cus the Delci Ae as a 1DD (in game) destroys the others, so if this can beat that even in that aspect, can be great.
My gut says Delci AE is closer to Klean and farther from the warmer Zenith, I'd actually stick with Delci AE but if you want to try a KZ, the Libra X would be good for gaming,
@PaulWasabii @PaulWasabii thanks u for ur response, i was curious cus generally pin point precision is like the only real thing always lacking in Kz iems (probably they just put drivers in a shell without thinking to much about how positioning them).
All of these look so pretty. My nicehck cables are still going strong. Gonna get a xins one if it breaks.
Nothing wrong with Nicehck, I have more than a few myself
Bro please help me choose, i love heavy metal, and guitar tunes. Kz castor pro vs kz vader
KZ Saga Balanced or Vader Balanced. Castor Pro is fine but its bass heavy
These look really good. I've ordered them. Many thanks for the very detailed review.
Can you compare an01 and ae01, thanks
Nope, only have AN01
Hi fellow music listeners! pls advise - so I'm currently enjoying KZ ZS 10 Pro 2, and occasionally Castor Pro Bass version. Would the PRX be an upgrade to the ZS in any way or is it worth buying in this case? Or pls advise some thing that would be a noticeable upgrade to ZS 10 Pro 2 in the range of up to $80. Thanks in advance!
Yes, PRX is a planar and higher sound quality than most of KZ's hybrids. The problem is it will need more volume from your phone or dongle
@@PaulWasabii thank you for the reply
