Seeing you put Ursaring on Chuck’s team made me wonder why i hadnt made that connection before. It fits so well it could’ve been gamefreaks idea and i’d believe it
Following in her cousin's footsteps as a "Dragon-type specialist" who's actually a Flying-type specialist, Clair has become a "Dragon-type specialist" who's actually a Water-type specialist.
This concept is even cooler when you know that in Chinese mythology, dragons are usually gods of the sea in charge of summoning rain plus there are also dragons who live in the heavens, sea and heaven: water and flying, Clair and lance, absolutely perfect 👌
One thing I disagree with is Clair's Dragonair getting Extremespeed. Since the Dratini with Extremespeed you get is for passing the test of the Dragon Clan positively (aka you pick the best answers). Clair famously has yet to pass that test, so they wouldn't have given her that Dratini.
I would have given Clair a Feraligatr because it looks pretty draconic and can learn several Dragon-type moves (i.e. Dragon Claw, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Dance, and Outrage). Also, it mirrors Lance's use of a starter (Charizard) as well.
I think that’s cool too but I don’t like teams having the starter pokemon of the same generation in it, although it’s tough with Lance since I did give him charizard, I’ll consider replacing the omastar for feraligatr
Personally the only change i would make to your selection is giving Ice Punch to Chuck's Poliwrath over Body Slam to give it a flying/grass type coverage
Quite good takes here. I do like these videos on how Gym rosters can be adjusted (or changed to suit a gen), makes some good musing. I also appreciate giving Gym Leaders a Pokemon or two who isn't necessarily the type but fits a theme or sentiment, like Giovanni's classic Persian pal or Elesa getting the Togetic from Skyla. I hope future games lean into it more. Nicely done :)
Exactly, Ursaring and Heracross are great for his mountain, waterfall martial artist vibe. Bears being big in those regions and near streams of water for catching fish, and Heracross as a bug pokemon in the forest + the beetle being one of the strongest animals (pound for pound).
i love it!!! especially with chuck and jasmine team. fits like a glove. Jasmine deserve more and forretress and skarmory are perfect for her question. are you gonna do the elite 4 and post game kanto teams for gym leaders? great video like always pal!
Glad to hear you liked it! Thanks for the feedback, I’m definitely doing the elite 4! I probably won’t be doing the Kanto teams though, if I did I would make it kind of a speed round as what I would mainly do for these teams is bump up the levels of the gyms, trainers, and wild pokemon in order to more prepare the player for reds level jump
Really nice video! I'd just add that Claire is not supposed to have a Dragonair with Extremespeed since it's only given to trainers who have passed the test, and Clair states that she hasn't been approved in the test (hence she gets so upset when you do).
Honestly, I'd just not make her an immature sore loser in the first place, since she's not even the only Gym Leader to fill that niche in this region. Make the test a prerequisite for entering the Gym instead of an extra hurdle after you've already proven yourself in battle. Would even fit with your Rival staying behind and needing to work on his attitude. If you want to recreate that vibe, could have Whitney (or her Gym Trainer) force(/ask) you to go on an errand in Goldenrod before she'll calm down to give you the badge.
Honestly with how much you were talking about water types on Clair's team I thought you were going to include a Politoed as a nod to how it doesnt get used, or even better giving her a Feraligatr as a nod to Lance having a Charizard. Having the last gym leader pulling out the starter you possibly picked or passed up on picking and beating you down with a superior moveset would be a real trick to beat.
Honestly Politoed would’ve been a super cool idea here, I feel like it doesn’t quite fit but also Omastar is a stretch too so I could see it! I wish it got drizzle in gen 4 tho it would’ve made for an interesting fight
I don’t necessarily like the feraligatr tho because it’s the starter of the game you’re currently playing, even though it would also fit the same slot as Lances charizard the same way omastar fits alongside lances aerodactyl
@@OKreations You're right, but it doesn't seem weird to me that the last gym leader has a starter from the game you are currently playing (am thinking about E4 Flint having an Infernape in gen 4). Especially since Feraligatr perfectly fits the ANGRY-WATER-DRAGON vibe of Clair. 🐊🌊🐲 In addition, he learns several dragon type moves such as dragon dance, dragon pulse, outrage, etc. And even learns ice fang/ice punch for coverage against dragon types of your own. Otherwise, your picks and additions are very clever and fits naturally ! The difficulty seems more balanced 👌🏼 Thank you for the video 🙏🏼🎉 Have a good day !
I have two team comps for Clair: - Sea-Dragon: Dragonair, Gyarados, Feraligatr, Lapras and Kingdra - Dragon-ish Lookalikes: Dragonair, Gyarados, Arbok, Ampharos and Kingdra
I love the teams, but my only concern is giving the dragonair extreme speed since Clair says she has never passed the test when you answer the elder’s questions in the dragon’s den. But in this world, maybe she will just give you the badge. lol great video! Looking forward to the rest of the series
@@OKreations I love the idea of the teams otherwise! Didn’t want to be critical, that’s for sure. I just think it would be neat to have her Dragonair learn it in a rematch or something? Showing growth for her character. Loving the videos you are making though, so please don’t take it the wrong way
Me in my normal monotype nuzlocke of soulsilver: "Dang, what am I gonna do against Jasmine? Fuck... oh wait--" My Togetic, channeling Ronnie Radke: "WATCH THE WORLD BURN" Me: "..........Jesus...."
technician sneasel may be a romhack usual thing but it doesnt have it in the regular games! I think hitmontop and heracross are a bit too frail for chuck to use altough ursaring fits. I love poliwrath memes with hypnosis + dynamic punch/focus punch, gives him a second layer of strategy instead of bland brick break dmg doesn't it? Maybe could still have brick break for the inmediate threat on kos on types its supposed to beat. I can't see chuck not having hariyama in his team
Yeah the technician thing was my bad I’ve been working on a rom hack for HGSS and gives slight buffs to mons (mostly slight changes in ability or something) and totally didn’t check to make sure that wasn’t a change I made in the rom hack when making these teams! I would have given it inner focus I think
Nice work, once again! Very fitting. Also, I can totally see Chuck befriending and apprenticing a Ledian. Maybe in the anime version of your series here haha! But I can see Chuck liking its spunk even though it lacks conventional power. I imagine it would be a bestie companion like Togepi. Not for a main gym but as a Pokemon that’s there every step of the way with him.
One theory - and I do admit it's just that - I once read (don't remember where, sorry) about Jasmine's Magnemites is that they are unevolved because they were just caught - in the Kanto Power Plant, where they CAN be found at level 30 -, as of the discovery of the Steel-type and her interest in it and whatnot. Though admittedly the level raise does remove that justification for the Magnemite(s) being unevolved, so... there's that. xD But I still wanted to mention this as I think it's cool trivia (even if it's unintended ahah). Other than that, however, very nice job. :D
Huh that is some pretty cool trivia I like that! Cuz jasmine was a rock type leader before steel right? I guess that’s where the onix came from before evolving into Steelix. Thanks for the feedback!
@@OKreations Yeah she's implied to have been a Rock-type specialist before Steel-type was a thing. Which is why she has a Steelix to begin with: it was an Onix first.
My thoughts on your "improvements"; 1. The addition of Urasaring for Chuck is great and fits him perfectly. It's a different type then the gymleader is known for, but one that actually makes sense. The changes for Chuck are great. Although Primeape fits Chuck incredibly well and I would like to see it on his team, but there is no room with more Johto respresentation. 2. I don't like how Scizzor didn't make the cut for Jasmine. I also believe that at this point, a gym leader should have 5 pokemon already, so I think there is room for it. Since you already explored most of the region, and even in a nuzzlocke already have a full or partially full team by this point. Also I think the change from Scyther at Bugsy, to Scizzor here, shows some great change. 3. Same for Pryce, I think a 5th member would fit. Mamoswine is a great mom for HGSS, which you base this off, I agree. It's a good addition to those who played the original and now see an improved team, an evolution that didn't exist before on the gym leaders team. I think making the 5th member a piloswine to signify this, would fit. And you can give that one heal and use the rest sleep talk set (with brine or surf on dewgong for added coverage, instead of 2 ice moves). 4. As for Clair, agree on the 5th member change, but not who you added. I always see Lance as a Sky Dragon (-like) trainer, and Claire as the Sea version. So I like the addition of Lapras a lot more then an Omastar who just doesn't look like a dragon. You could argue that Lapras doesn't either, but you can still discuss that one, it still kinda fits. I also don't like the Seadra for diversity. It's just overall a lot worse and has no purpose. Meanwhile the second dragonair still has a purpose with the thunderwave, setting the stage for Kingdra. I would say keep the second Dragonair, but give it Thunder instead of Fire Blast to deal with the possible water types. Also for Kingdra, I would argue to make this fight (as a dragon gym + the 8th gym) more difficult. And remove smoke screen, for either agility, but I would argue for Focus Energy. And make this ace even more of a threat.
Hey thanks for the feedback and thoughts! Glad you liked chuck! I think 5 is too much for the 6th gym imo, at least with how gamefreak usually does it, I think the only leader that should have 5 is gym 8, but I respect the opinion! And yeah I get not liking omastar it’s a weird choice I know, and yeah lapras does fit better by looks
I personally like Chuck’s gym concept. He doesn’t just “use strong fighting move”, he uses a strategy that makes landing Focus Punch easier, so I will just give him one more Pokemon. Primeape can have Brightpowder to make Double Team strat more annoying unless you have Aerial Ace, and even Sand Attack if needed. Poliwrath can change Surf for Waterfall. Heck, it can also learn Counter because it has a respectable bulk anyway, it can catch offguard your fighting mon.
I like all of these a lot! The one thing I would change would be to bring Chucks Primeape back in place of the Ursaring. I know it isn’t native to Johto but it is a fighting type that fits his vibe. Additionally, the Focus Punch, Double Team, Rock Slide set is super interesting.
I think Omastar is a bad pick. A dragon master using what is just an extinct snail. It really destroys the vibe, IMO. Milotic, Lapras, or Feraligatr better fit her team. Leaning toward Feraligatr since it’s a Johto Pokémon and Lance has a Charizard in the same vane. Dragon dance also happens to be Feraligatr’s competitive set, too.
honestly your videos are fun to watch i love the creativity u went into with picking which pokemon works here, part i dont really like is dragonair with extreme speed bec she never passed her test yet besides all that the team changes are perfect. now if only someone contacts u and implements your ideas in a rom or hack that would icing on the cake.
Thanks so much I appreciate it! Yeah that makes sense I think! I guess I would’ve put slam there instead? I’m currently working on the rom hack! I’m gonna stream myself play testing it soon
I'm SO loving this series! The only team I'm not sure about is Falkner's, just because I can't really buy a Murkrow as anyone's ace and Pidgeot would've been a better fit, but other than that, I LOVE all of your choices❤ I was meant to ask: are you going to do a Kanto gym leaders Part 2? Since you've always been able to fight them again after beating the Johto side of the game, and it would be nice to see your take on Janine and what other Pokémon the leaders would add from Johto's roster. Thanks for all your hard work! ✨
Hey glad to hear you’re enjoying it! That’s fair, what about Murkrow to you doesn’t scream ace by the way? I thought about it, but most of my changes there would honestly just be increasing levels and maybe a swap out here and there to make more mons shine, not sure it’s worth it!
@@OKreations I would personally LOVE to see your changes, even if it's in a shorter type of video. For example, I'm sure Brock could add a Sudowoodo to his team; or Lt. Surge's changing his ace to an Electabuzz like he did in one of the games, and since Elekid is a Johtonian Pokémon it would make sense! And like I said, I'd love to see your take on Janine for a change💜 And I don't know what it is about Murkrow. Honestly, he just seems so... fickle and tiny to be someone's ace, and I view a gym leader's signature Pokémon as someone more dominant or grand, or someone that fits the character's design best. It's just a perception, but I respect the choice nonetheless. Thanks for responding! 😊
Yeah that’s a good point! I’ll see what I can do! Okay yeah that’s fair, I think for me the first gym leader of a game doesn’t need like an ultra crazy Mon as an ace, but I also see where you’re coming from, no problem!
I've always thought that Claire should have both Omastar and Kabutops. They're fossil pokemon, giving that vibe of unobtainable and prehistorical. And they're both almost unseen in previous games, so it would be good to give them a certain spotlight. That said, Claire's team should be: dragonair, kabutops, dragonair 2, omaster and kingdra. Most of these mons have swift swim as ability, so I would create some sort of rain team, with omastar, kabutops and kingdra hitting really fast. Besides, I would give them both some sort of dragon move, as scale shot, to make more clear the connection to dragons. This way, you also would create a paralellism to Lance's aerodactyl.
I think Morty should have Mismagius on his team to fit better same evolution line team he has on HGSS, also i also recommend Scizor instead of Forretress on Jasmine's team, personally i think Scizor it's a better Steel/Bug type than Forretress.
you can't get your own Kingdra, the Dragon Scale is only available after you get Waterfall. Unless you can get one on wild Horsea which is possible. You COULD have pre-planned and started with Totodile evolved it into Feraligatr then gotten the daily lottery TM on Sunday, which is Dragon Claw.
I was a bit sceptical of your version Claire’s team first, but then I understood why you had made it the way you did. Grass and Electric are super effective against Water, but they’re resisted by Dragon. So at some point you have to pivot to another type if you want to win effectively.
Here's what I did, continuing my comment on the other video: •Chuck: My idea was to keep the Primeape and add in Machoke and Hitmontop, although I prefer your idea of Heracross, as it does fit his Beach Bum vibe a bit. •Jasmine: I just evolved her Magnemites and gave her a Skarmory, as for whatever reason Forretress doesn't feel that much like a Steel-type to me. I dunno. Also I just liked how in the basegame her origins as a Rock-type gym leader bled through as the Magnemites have a similar shape to Geodudes while the Steelix was once an Onix. •Pryce: I kept his mons and just added in a Delibird and a Mamoswine. Sneasel doesn't fit Pryce's vibe to me at all, and I don't think Jynx does either. I am going to level up that Seel if we keep the level boosts, though. •Clair: Using the post-gen 6 stuff, I handed her a Mega Ampharos to say 'Surprise! Mega Pokemon!' and for additional Johto rep and type coverage. I think I'll give Lance a Mega Charizard instead in his champion battle.
You did another excellent job fixing the Johto Gym Leaders' teams! As I said before, Johto leaders should use the Pokémon from their region. My favorite Gym Leader in Johto is Jasmine, I like the new team you chose for her 🤍 Besides Hitmontop, I loved that you included Ursaring in Chuck's team! I always thought that was a perfect Pokémon for him! 👊🏻💥
@@OKreationsYea, you really are amazing at fixing the gym leaders' teams. Clair's team is perfect, although I think that instead of Omastar there should be Dragonite or Charizard 🤔
@@OKreations Yes, I agree with your idea of differentiating Clair's team from Lance's a little. In my opinion, Kingdra, Gyarados and Dragonair are characteristic of Clair, I like that you included Seadra in her team and it is a shame that there are not more dragons in Jotho. From the next generation there are more.
Chuck was actually an afterthought! Him and Pryce are the only two gym leaders who don't exist in the Spaceworld 97 beta, and Pryce was added before him. The Spaceworld 97 beta's gym leaders were Falkner, Bugsy, Whitney, Morty (a dark-type specialist), the steel-type gym leader Okera, Jasmine (a ghost-type specialist for some reason), Red (no, I'm not kidding), and finally Gamma (Clair, but male).
i would have kept jynx in gsc in pryce's team but in hgss i would have gave him a glaceon instead, it is a refrence that even though it is based on johto, you got access now to mons from sinnoh
Chuck: Hitmontop, Primeape, Azumarill and Poliwrath (Azumarill fits the water theme in the gym, is bulky, and learns rollout to deal with flying types), Jasmine: Perfect team. Pryce: Delibird, Dewgong, Cloyster, Sneasel, Piloswine Claire: Seadra, Gyarados, Dragonair, Dragonair, Kingdra.
The issue with using Avalanche on Sneasel is that it’s a decreased priority move, meaning it’ll always go after most moves - which kinda goes against Sneasel’s fragile speedster build and might spell doom for it. I’d suggest Ice Shard (brought down from its lv49 learnset) to capitalize on Technician a bit further and/or Ice Punch for a strong consistent STAB that doesn’t slow it down.
Yeah that was definitely a bad call on my part! I also mistakenly put technician, which it doesn’t usually get, I would think ice punch would be the way to go
My only opposition to giving the dragonair extreme speed is that the drafting you can get that has this is a result of answering the elder's questions correctly, something that Clair has failed to do herself (her logic in sending you to do the elder's test is that she failed so there is no way that you, the player, will be able to pass.). So it doesn’t make sense for her to have the draft in you get for passing the test, canonically she has failed it.
Honestly in the first part my first thought for morty was gonna be Misdrevious into haunter into mismagius but then it occurred to me magius was a gen 4 mon. So I thought it made sense he wouldn’t do that. But now that he’s giving Mamoswine to pryce, it kills me on the inside
I was waiting for this video to show up, maybe I would add a Delibird that goes first in Chuck's team, with Hail and Icy Wind, as its not so powerful there's no problem Chuck having a team of five mons. In case of Clair I was expecting Lapras and Feraligatr in her team, instead of Seadra and Omastar. Clair as the last gym leader she needs to be a total challenge. Looking forward for the Elite 4 video.
I was very close to replacing the dewgong with delibird but I thought it would’ve been too wild to get rid of the dewgong entirely, maybe him having 5 mons would’ve been okay. Thanks for the feedback!
I would give every leader three mons, and make these battles 3v3: Chuck: Tyrogue/Hitmontop, Primeape, Poliwrath Jasmine: Magnemite, Magneton, Steelix Pryce: Seel, Dewgong, Piloswine Claire: Seadra, Dragonair, Kingdra
It’s not a negative priority move, it only doubles the power if the user goes second, and the only other physical ice type moves are ice shard which seems kinda not worth because sneasel is fast already and Ice Fang which doesn’t really fit him in my opinion, but i could definitely see Ice Punch working better here! I appreciate the feedback!
Ice Shard was suggested if you thought Ice Punch would be too powerful, thanks for the response, these videos have been an interesting watch. Also, Avalanche has -4 priority, I double checked Bulbapedia.
Omg yeah I totally didn’t know how the move worked I thought it worked differently thanks for catching that! I think ice shard is a little redundant because sneasel is already pretty fast so I think ice punch is the way to go! Glad you found my videos interesting! More to come👍
Probably would have evolved magnizone as well to give it better stats. The team would and should be strong. Same with sneasel as weavil as that pokemon gets jabbed so easily. Morty id add stantler gengar haunter mistribuus for a team to balance it out and it's near the area anyways
I actually think magnezone would’ve been perfect, even though you can’t get one yourself in Johto at all, jasmine shows up in Sinnoh before victory road, making it totally possible that she could’ve gone to Mt. Coronet to evolve it!
@@OKreations it's honestly why I want sequel stories to the regions rather than a remaster so that new Pokemon and their EVOS can just be in the game for the gym leaders to have more unique teams.
@@OKreations yeah with time. I want less of ogs and more sequels to those so we can see the cast grow up and possibly get new gyms and more pokemon in the regions
I think it would have been cool if Yasmin had a Magnezone! I think is not on the johto dex in the remakes BUT since she is constantly travelling to Sinnoh it would have been a cook detail! But now that I'm thinking... I think she mentions the idea of travelling there for the first time in the post game so idk
unless it wasnt like this originally and it was changed later, i think avalanche has negative priority, so the sneasel can be easily outsped and one shot if it goes for it
I dont think Clair should get an ESpeed Dragonair. The point of that whole arc is to show that the player is more mature and wise than Clair, which is why we answer "correctly" for the ESpeed Dratini. Since Clair never passed the Dragon's Den test, she would never be gifted the ESpeed Dratini, and would instead use normal Dratinis she can catch in the wild.
I think Clair's team is good, however, Lapras is still a really fitting team member, if you ever try talking the HGSS rematch battles, I think Lapras would be a sixth member due to how dragon-like it is, and it fits with how Clair's og rematch team was developed to be diet Lance
I disagree on clair’s dragonair having Extreme Speed. Clair is mad that we pass the test in Dragon’s Den that gives us a Dratini with Extreme Speed. So since shes not pure of heart like us, she should not have Extreme Speed. I have other nitpicks too, but overall great list.
Personally, I think it's fun and funny to give Claire: Gyarados Quagsire Lapras Dunsparce Kingdra Nobody knows what Dunsparce is but it's provocative and gets the people going. Quagsire is a giant salamander, and if you don't know, Google one and TELL ME that isn't some form of Dragon 😂
Chuck and Bruno are friends, so it would make sense for them to have some of the same pokémon. Also, thank you for giving Jasmine's Magneton Magnet Bomb. People tend to hate on that move, but I really like it, and hate that it was eliminated in Gen VIII. As for Pryce, I think Lapras with Perish Song and Surf, or Cloyster with Skill Link (introduced in Gen IV) and moves like Icicle Spear, would have been better choices for his team than Jynx and Sneasel. For Clair, there's still the problem of having two pokémon from the Horsea line. If you won't give her both Gen I fossil pokémon with Kabutops, I'd lean into her regal water vibe and give her a King's Rock pokémon, Slowking or Politoed, or maybe even Dunsparce, a pokémon from the Dragon egg group, instead. Yes, I know Dunsparce sucks, but it's still based on what was once thought to be a mythical beast.
I think a lot of people don;t use ice on Clair team. I just use eletric and did pretty well. I would switch sedra for a pokemon that could use ground type move.
clair's team is the most fun, i would give her a feraligatr for dragon moves and ampharos cause it can learn outrage through tutoring, its japanese name is denryu meaning electric dragon and its funny in hindsight because mega ampharos is electric/ dragon
I gotchu it’s in the works, I’m treating it like a middle ground between base game and sacred gold, bringing over improved pokemon mostly based on how they are improved in later generations, along with these teams
Giving Jasmine's Steelix a Focus Sash is a good call in my opinion. Steelix is the only Fire counter on this team. You might to switch out Thunder Wave on Magneton for Magnet Rise. If Toxic Spikes is laid out, Thunder Wave is useless. On the other hand, switching out Toxic Spikes for Stealth Rock might be a better call. Stealth Rock will chip any Fire type Pokémon into KO range that are being switched in.
hyped for the elite four updates, particularly for Karen (Ttar pls, Lance had a pseudo in gen 1 even if he wasn't champion, Karen can have the thicc boi)
8:45 Right, Sturdy didn't use to act like Focus Sash in Gen 4. I forgot about that. 😅 I don't think Clair's Dragonair should have Extreme Speed. It's treated like some secret technique that only the best of the dragon trainers can teach to their Pokemon and Clair is shown to be not as good as she claims to be, having never passed the test that the player does as well as still having an unevolved Dragonair in the postgame rematches. I also disagree with the choice of Omastar, but another commenter (LiveGame555) has already explained why. Seadra however is fine.
Why not keep Primeape's rock slide on Ursaring since it is replacing Primeape? Rock slide actually uses an effective stat and still covers flying. If slide is too strong for gym 5,why not rock tomb?
The video is overall great but I have a question. In this supposed roomhack, could you still tackle Chuck, Jasmine and Pryce in any order you want? If so, you should account for that👍👍
Poliwrath needs some stats boosted to make it actually viable. It should be the anti-psychic Fighting Pokemon. The hypnotic swirl, creating a visual and mental illusion, shows that poliwrath isnt a standard fighting Pokemon. I would love to have its Sp.Def and Attack stats, increased.
Here's what I would do for these gym leaders: CHUCK: Primeape/Heracross/Poliwrath JASMINE: Magnemite/Skarmory/Magneton/Steelix PRYCE: Sneasel/Jynx/Dewgong/Piloswine [GSC], Sneasel/Jynxl/Dewgong/Mamoswine [HGSS] CLAIR: Gyarados/Dragonair/Dragonair/Kingdra [Same as HGSS]
My teams are based on GSC instead of HGSS: Chuck: Level 29 Primeape, Level 31 Poliwrath Jasmine: Level 30 Magnemite, Level 30 Magnemite, Level 36 Steelix Pryce: Level 30 Seel, Level 32 Dewgong, Level 34 Piloswine Clair: Level 37 Dragonair, Level 37 Dragonair, Level 37 Dragonair, Level 41 Kingdra I just raised the levels of their teams. Chuck's Primeape, Jasmine's Steelix, and Pryce's Piloswine now have slightly better movesets. The lack of Gen 2 representation in the Johto gym leader teams does not bother me. Gen 2 had other problems that I would love to fix.
The only thing is gym leaders like Chuck are balanced around only having 2 Pokémon, with the teams you’ve made a lot of them would hopelessly over level the player and force them to grind even more than johto already does
true, but my suggestion was Ursaring not in Chuck's team, since it's not a Fighting-type, I might keep Primeape, but with Double Team replaced with Substitute regarding Jasmine's Magneton, I'd rather have Mirror Shot & Tri Attack, replacing SonicBoom & Magnet Bomb about Pryce's Mamoswine, it shouldn't have been evolved yet until Post-Game, although it could keep its moveset to Piloswine about Gyarados, it should've had Outrage instead of Dragon Pulse & the held berry should be Persim Berry regarding Seadra, I'd replace Smokescreen with Focus Energy & Poison Point ability with Sniper
Im surprised Clair did not receive an yanmega on her team seeing as how its a “dragonfly” and they have a spiritual symbolization of maturity and bouncing back from challenges kinda like she does some time after the player answers the questions.
To me I think Claire’s got more of a water type vibe to her dragons, so I feel like yanmega wouldn’t really fit her team, you should check out the fixing elite 4 video tho!
Apparently Onix/Steelix can't learn Magnitude, which would have been a perfect solution to Jasmine's Steelix needing Earthquake to have a STAB Ground move. That's just a failure on Game Freak's part.
I would've just changed Primape's moveset rather than change it to ursaring but that's just because I really like the boxing gloves for the fighting gym
Another video another Text Wall from me >:) Like part 1 great video and here's a few personal changes/opinions: >Chuck I really like the Ursaring in Chucks team. -Hitmontop should get pursuit instead of Counter, it's unlikely counters gonna do anything and pursuit gives a bit more of type coverage. I have nothing to say about the other 2 pokemons. >Jasmine SKARMORY MENTIONED LET'S GO!!! I have nothing to say about Jasmine team, it's great the way you made it. >Pryce Giving dewgong Hail is pretty nice + you're finally giving more than 1 item to the gym leaders thats great. I'm not a big fan of luck mechanics so I don't like the gender based moves on Jynx but that's about it. I have nothing else to say about Sneasle and Mamoswine. >Clair I really dislike the Omastar and think it doesn't fit... -Personally I think it would be funnier if we added something like Yanmega the """Dragon"""fly pokemon XD The moveset being: Air Slash, Bug Buzz (I know yanmega only learns this moves really late.. but idk), Whirlwind and some coverage with Psychic or Shadow ball. Since we are making stretches with Omastar this is what I would go with instead^-^ I have nothing else to say about her team (we all hate you Kingdra).
Love your text walls I appreciate it Leafar haha😂 glad you enjoyed the ursaring and skarmory! I understand not liking the omastar pick I know it was a little out of left field, but idk I kinda like it! I feel like because Clair is more geared towards water and Lance is geared more towards flying, yanmega would probably make more sense on lances team! But it would be a fun addition regardless!
for jasminei would have gave her corsola instead of forretress with the moves ancient power, aqua ring, rain dance and surf also holding the damp rock, it is there to stop fire/ground types from just sweaping and the rain dance is to even fuck up more fire moves so other mons will benifit like steelix with poor sp. defense which now doesn't mater because of rain and great physical defense so fire moves anyways would have done nothing
@ 16:45 Take away Extreme Speed! Clair has yet to get the character development to obtain such a move on her Pokémon . Clair is meant to be second to Lance because she hasn’t learned all the lessons necessary to be a true Dragon Master. Thus, Extreme Speed isn’t available for her Pokémon to learn.
Seeing you put Ursaring on Chuck’s team made me wonder why i hadnt made that connection before. It fits so well it could’ve been gamefreaks idea and i’d believe it
Means a lot I appreciate the feedback! I think it would make a great addition
Following in her cousin's footsteps as a "Dragon-type specialist" who's actually a Flying-type specialist, Clair has become a "Dragon-type specialist" who's actually a Water-type specialist.
Exactlyyyy
This concept is even cooler when you know that in Chinese mythology, dragons are usually gods of the sea in charge of summoning rain plus there are also dragons who live in the heavens, sea and heaven: water and flying, Clair and lance, absolutely perfect 👌
Actually if you see Lance's gen5 team, all are dragon type.
Yeah I agree that was a bad take on my part
I wish Milotic was the the game since it is Dragon like and it being a water type it fits perfectly with Clair being a master of water dragons
I do agree with you there Milotic does definitely fits Clair
It would definitely be a good choice to replace Gyarados solidifying the differences between both Lance and Clair
Milotic *is* in the game; Misty uses one on her rematch team (in Gen IV).
Yeah but that’s different to me it’s not like actually in the game
@@OKreations I think if you were willing to evolve Piloswine into Mamoswine then you might as well evolve Sneasel into Weavile.
I would have given Clair a Feraligatr because it looks pretty draconic and can learn several Dragon-type moves (i.e. Dragon Claw, Dragon Pulse, Dragon Dance, and Outrage). Also, it mirrors Lance's use of a starter (Charizard) as well.
That's literally the perfect mon for this.
I remember commenting this exact idea on the Crystal Legacy video as well, does no-one want to give Clair a Feraligatr 😢😢
I had the same exact thought. Love this idea, I’d switch out Omastar for Feraligatr
I think that’s cool too but I don’t like teams having the starter pokemon of the same generation in it, although it’s tough with Lance since I did give him charizard, I’ll consider replacing the omastar for feraligatr
i’d swap seadra for feraligatr
Personally the only change i would make to your selection is giving Ice Punch to Chuck's Poliwrath over Body Slam to give it a flying/grass type coverage
That’s a great idea love it
What about Earthquake for countering Electric-types
I wish you kept Primeape on Chuck's team because it didn't get any love in Kanto, but I understand why you made the change. Great video!
Don’t worry the primeape love isn’t quite dead yet! Elite 4 is still up for grabs😉
Thanks so much for the feedback! Yeah it’s been a lot of fun so far, excited to continue
Chucks team is perfect, its fit him perfectly
You don’t think chuck deserves more than 2 pokemon?
@@OKreations i mean the one you did, my bad hahaha. Ursaring is crazy
Exactly, Ursaring and Heracross are great for his mountain, waterfall martial artist vibe. Bears being big in those regions and near streams of water for catching fish, and Heracross as a bug pokemon in the forest + the beetle being one of the strongest animals (pound for pound).
Ohhhh I see thanks so much I appreciate it!
Love how you edited this, very nice to look at
Thanks so much I really appreciate that!
Didn't though on Ursaring for Chuck before, and it really fits, Chuck looks like the kind of guy who would wrestle with a bear (and might even win)
Ikr! It’s a fun idea!
It's kind of the same vibe as Bruno with his Onix.
Mans just made Clair's gym challenge from tough to down right hard. Im here for it, give her a reason to be cocky like Blue
i love it!!! especially with chuck and jasmine team. fits like a glove. Jasmine deserve more and forretress and skarmory are perfect for her
question. are you gonna do the elite 4 and post game kanto teams for gym leaders? great video like always pal!
@@OKreations thanks for the response! Amazing as always. Take your time making the E4 video. I would love to see it when it comes out
Thanks! Yeah it’ll be a bit for e4, I’m gonna have a nuzlocke video come out next before that one👍
Yay ice grandpa with some of my favorite ice types!. I like all the adds and changes with the teams, I think they all fit nicely like gloves
Thanks so much!
Really nice video! I'd just add that Claire is not supposed to have a Dragonair with Extremespeed since it's only given to trainers who have passed the test, and Clair states that she hasn't been approved in the test (hence she gets so upset when you do).
Yeah that’s a good point, you’re right there. Thanks for the feedback!
@@OKreations I like all your videos, keep up with the good work!
Was going to mention this too, really enjoyed the video otherwise though - looking forward to the Elite Four!
Thanks everyone!
In addition, he learns several dragon type moves such as dragon dance, dragon pulse, outrage, etc. And even learns ice fang/ice punch for coverage against dragon types of your own.
Otherwise, your picks and additions are very clever and fits naturally ! The difficulty seems more balanced 👌🏼
Thank you for the video 🙏🏼🎉
Have a good day !
I have two team comps for Clair:
- Sea-Dragon:
Dragonair, Gyarados, Feraligatr, Lapras and Kingdra
- Dragon-ish Lookalikes:
Dragonair, Gyarados, Arbok, Ampharos and Kingdra
Love it!
I love the teams, but my only concern is giving the dragonair extreme speed since Clair says she has never passed the test when you answer the elder’s questions in the dragon’s den. But in this world, maybe she will just give you the badge. lol great video! Looking forward to the rest of the series
Thanks for the feedback! I agree I think I might take it off
@@OKreations I love the idea of the teams otherwise! Didn’t want to be critical, that’s for sure. I just think it would be neat to have her Dragonair learn it in a rematch or something? Showing growth for her character. Loving the videos you are making though, so please don’t take it the wrong way
Yeah that would be a great idea! No yeah I understand, you made a great point and I’m glad you enjoyed everything else!

technician sneasel may be a romhack usual thing but it doesnt have it in the regular games!
Okay I'm not crazy. I was like since when does Sneasel have Technician?!
That’s a great idea I could see that too!
My thoughts on your "improvements";
I love that you kept Clair’s team totally blue. I feel she would absolutely stick to only blue pokemon.
I like primeape and don’t worry there’s still the E4 for him👀
I think Omastar is a bad pick.
That’s a fair point! Milotic wouldn’t work as it’s a hoenn Mon imo, I could see lapras working!
I recently found your channel. I'm really liking what you're doing with the content. Keep up the good work
Thanks so much I appreciate it! More to come!
honestly your videos are fun to watch i love the creativity u went into with picking which pokemon works here, part i dont really like is dragonair with extreme speed bec she never passed her test yet besides all that the team changes are perfect. now if only someone contacts u and implements your ideas in a rom or hack that would icing on the cake.
Thanks so much I appreciate it! Yeah that makes sense I think! I guess I would’ve put slam there instead? I’m currently working on the rom hack! I’m gonna stream myself play testing it soon
@@OKreations can't wait to see it
Well balanced enough just like your Part 1. Nice 9/10.
Love to hear it! Appreciate the feedback!
And like I said, I'd love to see your take on Janine for a change💜
And I don't know what it is about Murkrow.
Great seeing some Ursaring love; such an underrated Pokemon
Glad you enjoyed! Ikr I’m so glad it got ursaluna too!
I'd love to see you fix other generations especially for me gen 6!
That’s the next one I’m covering!
I’m glad that at least one other person can somewhat see where I’m going with omastar!😂 but this cool I like this idea
I think Morty should have Mismagius on his team to fit better same evolution line team he has on HGSS, also i also recommend Scizor instead of Forretress on Jasmine's team, personally i think Scizor it's a better Steel/Bug type than Forretress.
Fair points! I mainly moved fortress from kogas team so koga can use something else👀
I now officially have a headcannon that Chuck is a Canadian because of that Ursaring and you cannot convince me otherwise
Love this
Ampharos for clair would be a nice pick, since his mega has the dragon type and it can learn dragon pulse in gen 4
Fair point!
you can't get your own Kingdra, the Dragon Scale is only available after you get Waterfall.
In sacred gold and storm silver there is a team roket quest at the safari zone that works great in between the 5 and 6 gym
Yuppp I believe I pointed that out!
Here's what I did, continuing my comment on the other video:
•Chuck: My idea was to keep the Primeape and add in Machoke and Hitmontop, although I prefer your idea of Heracross, as it does fit his Beach Bum vibe a bit.
On the Jasmine section if a player tries to hit skarmory with a rock move on a turn it isnt roosting it still wont be supereffective lmao
Troo
You did another excellent job fixing the Johto Gym Leaders' teams! As I said before, Johto leaders should use the Pokémon from their region. My favorite Gym Leader in Johto is Jasmine, I like the new team you chose for her 🤍
Besides Hitmontop, I loved that you included Ursaring in Chuck's team! I always thought that was a perfect Pokémon for him! 👊🏻💥
Thanks I appreciate it! Yeah Ursaring there felt right to me
@@OKreationsYea, you really are amazing at fixing the gym leaders' teams. Clair's team is perfect, although I think that instead of Omastar there should be Dragonite or Charizard 🤔
Good idea! Just wanted to distinguish the team a bit more from Lance
You really shouldn't have removed Primeape from Chuck's team. Primeape is so underrated and deserves more appearances in the games.
Don’t worry Primeape is getting upgraded👀
Chuck was actually an afterthought! Him and Pryce are the only two gym leaders who don't exist in the Spaceworld 97 beta, and Pryce was added before him. The Spaceworld 97 beta's gym leaders were Falkner, Bugsy, Whitney, Morty (a dark-type specialist), the steel-type gym leader Okera, Jasmine (a ghost-type specialist for some reason), Red (no, I'm not kidding), and finally Gamma (Clair, but male).
That’s cool!
i would have kept jynx in gsc in pryce's team but in hgss i would have gave him a glaceon instead, it is a refrence that even though it is based on johto, you got access now to mons from sinnoh
Chuck: Hitmontop, Primeape, Azumarill and Poliwrath (Azumarill fits the water theme in the gym, is bulky, and learns rollout to deal with flying types),
Jasmine: Perfect team.
Pryce: Delibird, Dewgong, Cloyster, Sneasel, Piloswine
Claire: Seadra, Gyarados, Dragonair, Dragonair, Kingdra.
Love the azumarill idea!
Yeah I just felt like mismagius would’ve conflicted with gengar as the ace ya know
I'd make a quick change. Swap Smoke Screen with Blizzard you likely wouldn't have a Dragon-type, but if you do, whoosh!
I’ve been playing Pokémon since generation one and I did not know that the move roost removed the flying typing 😂
The more you know!
May as well turn clair into a water type gym leader it suits her vibe better imo
Lowkey I agree I wouldn’t be opposed to that at all, especially given Lance is right there
I would give every leader three mons, and make these battles 3v3:
Chuck: Tyrogue/Hitmontop, Primeape, Poliwrath
Jasmine: Magnemite, Magneton, Steelix
Pryce: Seel, Dewgong, Piloswine
Claire: Seadra, Dragonair, Kingdra
Give one of Pryce’s Pokémon an Icy Rock.
I did!
Ursaring = moon = ocean = water = waterfall…. I like it!
Thanks!
I wouldn't teach the Sneasel Avalanche. That is a negative priority move. Probably should go with Ice Punch or Ice Shard.
More to come👍
I thought I saw somewhere if you use Focus Energy before Focus Punch it eliminates the the wait of it being a 2 turn move
I don’t believe that’s true, focus energy just ups crit chance, but I could be wrong!
Hard agree
@@OKreations yeah with time. I want less of ogs and more sequels to those so we can see the cast grow up and possibly get new gyms and more pokemon in the regions
I think it would have been cool if Yasmin had a Magnezone! I think is not on the johto dex in the remakes BUT since she is constantly travelling to Sinnoh it would have been a cook detail! But now that I'm thinking... I think she mentions the idea of travelling there for the first time in the post game so idk
I totally just thought of this I love this idea! Might do that in the rom hack
unless it wasnt like this originally and it was changed later, i think avalanche has negative priority, so the sneasel can be easily outsped and one shot if it goes for it
Yeah totally missed that my b
I see some quality content here 😍
Thanks so much I appreciate that!
Yeahhhh I agree I think I shouldn’t have done that
I think Clair's team is good, however, Lapras is still a really fitting team member, if you ever try talking the HGSS rematch battles, I think Lapras would be a sixth member due to how dragon-like it is, and it fits with how Clair's og rematch team was developed to be diet Lance
Someone should mod these teams into the game
Go for it. You can do it.

Thanks so much! Yeah I agree I think I should’ve gone with something else
Claire went from being a dragon type gym leader to water type gym leader lol
I meannn she already was a water type gym leader, especially in the original games, didn’t even have dragonairs
Personally, I think it's fun and funny to give Claire:
Gyarados
Quagsire
Lapras
Dunsparce
Kingdra
Nobody knows what Dunsparce is but it's provocative and gets the people going. Quagsire is a giant salamander, and if you don't know, Google one and TELL ME that isn't some form of Dragon 😂
Totally agree with this this is fun
Dunsparce would’ve been such a troll but fun pick I like that idea!
The problem with Magnet Bomb is: Pokemon that learned the move has low Attack stat
I hope someone makes a rom with this kind of changes and Pokémon rebalance
I gotchu it’s in the works, I’m treating it like a middle ground between base game and sacred gold, bringing over improved pokemon mostly based on how they are improved in later generations, along with these teams
Ursaring having thunderpunch is my only question with your Chuck. Not against it just need more info compared to Rock moves
Wdym by need more info? As in you don’t think thunder punch makes sense lore wise or something?
Giving Jasmine's Steelix a Focus Sash is a good call in my opinion. Steelix is the only Fire counter on this team. You might to switch out Thunder Wave on Magneton for Magnet Rise. If Toxic Spikes is laid out, Thunder Wave is useless. On the other hand, switching out Toxic Spikes for Stealth Rock might be a better call. Stealth Rock will chip any Fire type Pokémon into KO range that are being switched in.
Thanks for the feedback! I think that makes sense to change out thunderwave or stealth rock, I think Stealth Rock would be perfect!
hyped for the elite four updates, particularly for Karen (Ttar pls, Lance had a pseudo in gen 1 even if he wasn't champion, Karen can have the thicc boi)
I gotchu😎
I get there arnt many dragon types in gen 2 but its funny to basically turn Dragon gymleader into water gymleader xD
8:45 Right, Sturdy didn't use to act like Focus Sash in Gen 4. I forgot about that. 😅
I don't think Clair's Dragonair should have Extreme Speed.
Great point!
Why not keep Primeape's rock slide on Ursaring since it is replacing Primeape? Rock slide actually uses an effective stat and still covers flying. If slide is too strong for gym 5,why not rock tomb?
Don’t worry the monkey isn’t getting snuffed, just going to be moved to another team!
The video is overall great but I have a question. In this supposed roomhack, could you still tackle Chuck, Jasmine and Pryce in any order you want? If so, you should account for that👍👍
Thanks so much! Sure I mean you could, but i would only have one team option for each, if you nuzlocke then you’d just follow the level caps
That’d be cool!
Here's what I would do for these gym leaders:
CHUCK: Primeape/Heracross/Poliwrath
JASMINE: Magnemite/Skarmory/Magneton/Steelix
PRYCE: Sneasel/Jynx/Dewgong/Piloswine [GSC], Sneasel/Jynxl/Dewgong/Mamoswine [HGSS]
CLAIR: Gyarados/Dragonair/Dragonair/Kingdra [Same as HGSS]
Love it! A little more honed in but I do think these are all great!
My teams are based on GSC instead of HGSS:
Chuck: Level 29 Primeape, Level 31 Poliwrath
Jasmine: Level 30 Magnemite, Level 30 Magnemite, Level 36 Steelix
Pryce: Level 30 Seel, Level 32 Dewgong, Level 34 Piloswine
Clair: Level 37 Dragonair, Level 37 Dragonair, Level 37 Dragonair, Level 41 Kingdra
I just raised the levels of their teams. Chuck's Primeape, Jasmine's Steelix, and Pryce's Piloswine now have slightly better movesets. The lack of Gen 2 representation in the Johto gym leader teams does not bother me. Gen 2 had other problems that I would love to fix.
Fair enough!
The only thing is gym leaders like Chuck are balanced around only having 2 Pokémon, with the teams you’ve made a lot of them would hopelessly over level the player and force them to grind even more than johto already does
true, but my suggestion was Ursaring not in Chuck's team, since it's not a Fighting-type, I might keep Primeape, but with Double Team replaced with Substitute
regarding Jasmine's Magneton, I'd rather have Mirror Shot & Tri Attack, replacing SonicBoom & Magnet Bomb
about Pryce's Mamoswine, it shouldn't have been evolved yet until Post-Game, although it could keep its moveset to Piloswine
about Gyarados, it should've had Outrage instead of Dragon Pulse & the held berry should be Persim Berry
regarding Seadra, I'd replace Smokescreen with Focus Energy & Poison Point ability with Sniper
I think outrage plus persim berry would’ve been a bit too much for that team but I think it’s a cool idea!
@@OKreations yeah, besides, Gyarados is more of a Physical threat, the only pokemon in Clair's team to have Dragon Pulse, in my opinion, is Seadra
Actually I gave Clair the following team :
1. Gyarados (Lvl 39/40)
2. Dragonair (Lvl 43)
3. Lapras (Lvl 42)
4. Ampharos (Lvl 41)
5. Kingdra (Lvl 45)
Apparently Onix/Steelix can't learn Magnitude, which would have been a perfect solution to Jasmine's Steelix needing Earthquake to have a STAB Ground move. That's just a failure on Game Freak's part.
What’s wrong with earthquake
I would've just changed Primape's moveset rather than change it to ursaring but that's just because I really like the boxing gloves for the fighting gym
Don’t worry there’s another fighting type leader in johto
Another video another Text Wall from me >:)
Like part 1 great video and here's a few personal changes/opinions:
>Chuck
I really like the Ursaring in Chucks team.
-Hitmontop should get pursuit instead of Counter, it's unlikely counters gonna do anything and pursuit gives a bit more of type coverage.
I have nothing to say about the other 2 pokemons.
>Jasmine
SKARMORY MENTIONED LET'S GO!!!
I have nothing to say about Jasmine team, it's great the way you made it.
>Pryce
Giving dewgong Hail is pretty nice + you're finally giving more than 1 item to the gym leaders thats great.
I'm not a big fan of luck mechanics so I don't like the gender based moves on Jynx but that's about it.
I have nothing else to say about Sneasle and Mamoswine.
>Clair
I really dislike the Omastar and think it doesn't fit...
-Personally I think it would be funnier if we added something like Yanmega the """Dragon"""fly pokemon XD
The moveset being: Air Slash, Bug Buzz (I know yanmega only learns this moves really late.. but idk), Whirlwind and some coverage with Psychic or Shadow ball.
Since we are making stretches with Omastar this is what I would go with instead^-^
I have nothing else to say about her team (we all hate you Kingdra).
And yes the hate for Kingdra is strong
Also also how would you feel about a Pokemon like Seviper in Claire’s Team?
Seviper isn’t found in Johto, so that wouldn’t work for me unfortunately
for jasminei would have gave her corsola instead of forretress with the moves ancient power, aqua ring, rain dance and surf also holding the damp rock, it is there to stop fire/ground types from just sweaping and the rain dance is to even fuck up more fire moves so other mons will benifit like steelix with poor sp. defense which now doesn't mater because of rain and great physical defense so fire moves anyways would have done nothing
Give kingdra focus energy and scope lens!
Now that would be way too much😂
7:40 rock isn’t supereffective against Skarmory regardless.
3:07 it’s a bear why doesn’t it learn yawn naturally
Great q
@ 16:45
Take away Extreme Speed! Clair has yet to get the character development to obtain such a move on her Pokémon . Clair is meant to be second to Lance because she hasn’t learned all the lessons necessary to be a true Dragon Master. Thus, Extreme Speed isn’t available for her Pokémon to learn.
I agree you right
I dont agree with Extremespeed on Claire's Dragonair. Thats supposed to be a special dratini for answering the question when she didnt pass herself.
That’s a good point!
THE ALMIGHTY LORD HELIX
He has risen
U forgot u can back track for Lapras on Friday
