Fun fact about the SOS notes in the Divine Beast music. Ruta, Naboris, and Rudania’s morse code start at about the same time, yet Medoh’s starts later. Revali’s pride prevented him from calling for help until the very last moment.
@@weinereater-wm6qm I could be wrong but I believe they were all already inside their divine beasts and that’s why they were taken by surprise and trapped inside, unable to escape
@@weinereater-wm6qm No, lol, according to the Making of a Champion, Revali was the first to reach his Divine Beast because unlike the other Champions he could fly straight there with no obstacles.
Isn’t it also a lot more frantic compared to the others? Most of them are practically sedate. It’s like they’re saying “I have arrived, I have assessed the situation, I cannot handle it on my own, I need backup, please send help”. Revali’s was more “I have arrived, I tried to handle it on my own, that was a mistake, I am about to die, please send help”.
@@bluecat3338 heartbreaking. Although I doubt it would have made much of a difference if he’d called sooner, even the most stubborn and arrogant one was broken down in the end
I think my favorite detail about the SOS in the music is *where* in the songs they play. Mipha's plays almost immediately like she realized she was in trouble right off the bat. Urbosa's plays intermittently like she is sending out a call for help whenever she manages to disengage. Daruk's is delayed and quiet like he is almost ashamed to call for help. Revali's comes the latest into his song and almost sounds panicked in pace.
Ooh. I had a thought. I wonder if Daruk's could also imply how strained he was... concentrating on using his shield and surviving, so his SOS message might've been the equivalent of physically wheezing out a call for help when out of breath.
Revali’s comes last because he only managed to overcome his pride near the very end, that’s why it sounds so panicked, at that point Windblight might as well have ripped one of his wings off
The thing about link slowing down time as a canon thing I really like, every champion has their own special magic or technique, it makes sense that links ability would be with time.
maybe that's why link eats so much? he uses all his energy to slow down time, which messes with him, so he's a glutton to make up for it. Edit: spelling
i just wanna add, when you listen to the divine beast themes with headphones not only do you hear the morse code for SOS, but you also hear, in the other ear, SAD (short for seek and destroy) occasionally one gets louder than the other. i like to think one of the sounds is the champion calling for help like you say and the other is the blight ganon executing its master's command
That fun fact just make me feel strange inside You're going into what is basically your deceased friend's tomb, hearing both their cry for help and the malevolence of the beast that killed them.
My favorite bit of lore is that even after millennia, Zelda’s Lullaby theme from Ocarina of Time is still used to represent the royal family. To the point where in the throne room of Hyrule Castle the triforce sculpture above the throne is ringed by three musical measures with the notes for the lullaby transcribed out. Not all the notes are correct, but after 10,000 years and completely divorced from its original context, it’s entirely possible that the builders of Hyrule Castle didn’t know that it was a musical staff to begin with.
28:07 To me, the Seven Gerudo Heroines being the Seven Sages would mean that the Eighth Heroine separated from the main group is Link, the Hero of Time - especially since the statues are all holding the Sword that Seals the Darkness, while the Sages and Link were responsible for sealing Ganon. It’s really neat that they were all depicted as women, because the statues were probably carved by the all-female Gerudo tribe, who would assume that any heroes would also be female once their actual identities were lost to time.
I don’t know if it’s confirmed, but I’m pretty convinced that the house you can buy in Hatino village is Link’s old house before Calamity Ganon came back. One of the carpenters talks about no one having used the house in 100 years.
Learning about all the small and seemingly insignificant details in the Zelda games really does give me more appreciation towards the developers. In fact, it justifies why it took so long to make *Breath of the Wild* and *Tears of the Kingdom.*
something interesting about the Zora monuments is that the only worn one is the one talking about Link's accomplishments. Considering the fact that many elder Zora hate Link in game, it's possible that some of them vandalized it (or maybe failed to keep it safe from harsh weather/monsters).
Fun addendum to fact #97: You can actually meet Cherry herself in Age of Calamity. There is one specific random merchant that can appear at liberated stables that deals in ancient materials called "Cheria" and she is a Sheikah woman around Robbie's age.
I’ve never seen anybody talk about how the shrines can be broadly split into three different types and seem to be based on the triforce. They have you either A. Solving some sort of puzzle in the shrine in order to recieve a spirit orb (Wisdom) B. Challenge you by making it difficult to reach the shrine to begin with and just give you the spirit orb (Courage) And C. Obtain a spirit orb by passing a trial of strength in combat (Power)
Yeah. I think that’s how it is at the springs as well. They even have 3 different themes, the music used in blessing, and puzzle shrines are different. Some shrines requiring quests are puzzles, but most are the blessing shrines. There’s also the teaching shrine in Kakariko as well, I don’t remember if there are more
I genuinely hope we see more of Fi, especially knowing she's absolutely still inside the sword. Hell, she's probably the oldest "living" character in the series
The broken master sword could be the excuse to bring her back. She could help guide Zelda and Link to the sacred flames needed to fix the master sword.
King Rhoam is honestly one of the most tragic characters in Zelda. He's a man who's torn between being a father or a king and for the sake of his people as a whole he chooses King. But in his final day he choose Father, only for him to never see his daughter again.
One of the things I absolutely adore about this game is that even now, nearly 6 years after it released, and myself having spent 1500 hours in Hyrule, am still finding out awesome little tidbits of information. The first fact kind of blew my mind. Each goddess had their own little temple/shrine. Its kind of adorable lol.
I kind of wish they made Rhoam’s ghost a random encounter. He doesn’t even need to say anything, just imagine going back to his tomb, or teleporting to a tower, and seeing him there just watching over his kingdom.
I thought that at first but the other enemies in the lockup look just as normal, which reminded me that the blood moon would bring them back whenever they died, so that one was probably already a stalnox 100 years ago
@@abdel4455 it would probably be so long that the hinox rots away because the less enemies are killed in the kingdom the less of often a blood moon occurs and since link wasn’t there at the time the people would have trouble defeating the monsters and the longer periods between blood moons
@@owlboy8x469 I considered that too, but there are other enemies locked in cells. They would have turned into stal enemies as well unless someone recently came into the castle and locked them up.
I don't know about anyone else, but the first time I heard that same soundbite of Fi's notification from the master sword carried over to the last memory, I nearly cried. This series has been so deeply engrained into my life that the nostalgia and beloved memories of playing skyward sword for the first time always hit me like a truck when I hear it.
YES!! Skyward Sword was my first zelda game and every time Fi is referanced in any other game, I cry. LoZ is such an amazing franchise and it's neat to see references to other games throughout the series
There is also a distinct beeping noise that resembles heartbeat in the Hyrule castle theme that gets faster and faster until it eventually flat lines. This probably is a reference to Zelda slowly dying as she holds off Calamity Ganon about 1 minute 25 seconds into the interior castle theme if you want to check it out.
holy shit...... I always thought the drums in that theme sound like a heartbeat but I never made that connection with the beeping like a heart monitor.
For the 71 secret, you said that there hasn't been any male leader because they were ashamed of Ganondorf being one of them, but I think it's because Ganondorf isn't really dead (like we see in Tears of the Kingdom trailer) so that the "curse" can't happened again.
I agree. I didn't know this fact until I saw this video & it's incredibly haunting in nature. I can't unhear it now when I listen to the themes. It's like the distress call from the Champions that were chosen to but failed to defeat Ganon are still heard by Link a century later. Hyrule and its old Champions have been crying out for Link's help for over 100 years. Bone chilling.
For #71, there’s also the possibility that there has just been no more Gerudo men born after the last Ganondorf, maybe because the old one never died. We don’t know what the rules of Gerudo biology are though (i.e., whether two males can coexist), so it’s impossible to say either way for now.
@@Rafaelrgm While that would be interesting, another guy in the Gerudo Desert describes Villia as a Hylian wearing Gerudo clothes, not a Gerudo. Plus, if there was a non-evil Gerudo male, I’d think they’d make a big deal out if it, not make them a joke character.
@@akakay0131 It's not everyday that someone becomes the king of darkness. Ganondorf was the outlier not the rule. Most male gerudo probably were not evil. And it's nintendo we're talking about, they don't like making a big deal of things and are more into implying than outright showing. Using the Gerudo themselves as an example, there the implication that Groose is an ancestor to the Gerudo. . Not to metion it's way more probable they the Gerudo would change their traditions after Ganondorf than their biology changing. And it makes more sense as well, because even if the logic was that no male Gerudo was born because Ganon had not died yet. With the exception of of the Adult Timeline, he dies in the other two.
@@Rafaelrgm People have removed Villia's veil, and *her* skin tone under it is definitely the skin tone of a non-Gerudo. She is most likely a Hylian who's skin tone changed due to living in the desert for several weeks, or even years, due her being able to transition by living there. She also reacts negatively to being accused of being male, and chooses to present herself as a woman even when she doesn't have to.
i dont think Fi will be affected if the master sword breaks. The wind waker master sword is a small sword so it has to be reforged every now and then. But Fi still around it to the present time of botw
My sister actually guessed the old man was dead before the game ever came out because of the lantern he carries but I was like ‘I dunno’ and then she was right and I was low-key mad at past me
Those were my first thoughts along the lines as well. Like " oh I bet he's some sort of dead ghost King and soon will reveal himself or he's part of some sinister plot and turns out to be evil having scouted you out throughout the entire game and the big reveal is that he's working for Ganon or some silly shit. Glad I was wrong lol
About fact 14: There's a level in Age of Calamity where Link and Zelda have to flee from Castle Hyrule just as the Calamity strikes. They do so through a secret passage and you navigate through the cavernous underbelly of the Castle. The locations don't map exactly, but it'd make sense for this to be the Eastern Passage.
I agree. I think there could easily be another 100 more. I hope Zeltik can find the time to do this. Perhaps as a form of patience therapy while waiting for TotK.
I always had a theory that the time slowing down was Link's Champion ability. Revali, Urbosa, Mipha, and Daruk all have their special abilities but seemingly Link does not have such a special ability other than he is the Master Swords chosen. Link, as many of his past incarnations of being heroes of time, is in all respects THE hero of time. He is a hero and he can literally control time. Link's ability is his own legacy of the past internalized.
@@jaehaalexander1172 sorry for spoiling it but its annoying when Aoc litterly confirmed its an ability all posses and then people just ignore it and say "aoc isn't cannon" and then they hard confirm in totk and then people are like "stop spoiling one attack the final boss dose OMG the whole game is RUINED" My personal theory is link is just very good at the time ability but everyone can do it with enough training.
Breath of the Wild seems to be the gift that just keeps on giving in terms to all the attention paid to even the tiniest of details. My only regret is that I'll never be able to explore this version of Hyrule for the first time ever again.
In the Astral Observatory, there are the marks of the divine beasts, but what I am wondering is if those beasts line up exactly with where they stood 10,000 years ago. If the other landmarks match up, while standing in the middle of the room, I wonder if a Divine Beast lines up with the hole in the mountain in secret 56.
I was under the impression that the Hyrule Castle from OoT no longer existed because it was transformed by Ganon and eventually reduced to rubble (at least in the adult timeline and potentially in the downfall timeline).
Really depressing, but the S.O.S. signals are different per champion. Mipha is frantic and panicked, Revali doesn't send the signal for a while after the dungeon theme starts... not to mention Mipha says she was killed before she could even fight back so her SOS was instantaneous up starting up the beast or was happening while she was dying.
I am surprised my favorite story detail isn't mentioned. It involves the building knowledge of the men destroying, but later furnishing Link's house. Due to the Calamity, general knowledge about how to build houses was lost. As a result the new houses that have show models in Hateno, and are later used in Tarry Town, have a very cubic design. It is a simple and easily reproducible design, almost entirely made of wood. At the same time, they are destroying one of the last stone houses that could teach them the old ways of constuction.
The blocks are made to easily fit together for quick assembly with optional compartments, likely an idea to help Hylians re-settle Hyrule through quick pop-up houses. They fit together like puzzle pieces. Imagine if in Tears Of The Kingdom that we are allowed to use Link's new Ultrahand and Fuse abilities to quickly assemble homes, perhaps even entire small villages, or maybe even customize Link's own new home, using these pieces.
one other thing i noticed is that Link's house, it's floor plan doesn't match it's outside there are parts sealed off by a wall. which leads to his chimney being useless. there is another house in Hateno that shares it's model too. so you can see what it's floor plan technically should have been. did Bolson screw Link out of area's in the house he bought? or was the previous owner an idiot.
I think that carpenters are probably just looking for ways to quickly and cheaply give people homes in a post-Calamity world where settling efforts in most places have been knocked back to square one. Hyrule might even be due for a baby boom once Ganon is gone for good, meaning that there would be way more people who need homes in the near-future and not many places to put them without a bunch of Bolson-esque starter homes. The ease with which something can be made doesn't denote a lack of skill on the maker's part, and the primarily wooden, building block, ready-made nature of Bolson homes is a lot more space efficient and much easier to mass-produce than bigger stone houses like the one Link bought.
@@Zeltik There is also a another Easter egg, the place where you fight against calamity Ganon, you can see the carvings on the wall of the world around like death mountain lord of the mountain, etc. And in trial of the sword the room where you upgrade the master sword there are the same carvings on the wall and the structure looks similar, perhaps they are connected?
I literally had to stop this mid video to go listen to the Deku Tree's theme real quick when it came on in the background lol. BotW's OST is seriously underrated because of all its ambient tracks, but it's easily got some of the best music in the series.
I'm so lucky to be a fan of this great game. Wonderful lore, addictive secrets and storyline, and awesome gameplay...I'll never get enough of The Legend of Zelda. Even when I'm 70, I will still play it. Old Zelda playing granny 🤗.
This has been my favourite Zeltik video to date, which is saying something since I've loved many of Zeltik's videos already, but this... This is gold. I could have easily sat and watched another 100 of these. This is brilliant work, and I truly appreciate the effort and love that went into making it. My deepest thanks. Well done.
I've been playing Zelda games for about 15 years now. When this game came out I was critical about how it was so vastly different from the games I grew up with. I didn't even notice how many references and nods it had to the titles I loved. And now it's my favorite game in the series🥹. This is by far the best video game franchise in the world. Fight me, Mojang.
I think I have a theory for 14:22 Lizalfos and lynels can breathe fire, however bokoblins and moblins can not. Therefore, I personally think that lizalfos and lynels were able to forge their own weapons using fire and metal. :)) edit: THE LEADER OF THE CULT HAS NOTICED MEEH
@@moonflower1717 Goron constructions are made of metal, and they just contort it into shape according to Creating a Champion. Maybe the Moblins are strong enough to do that too.
I'm really glad you've been able to find ideas for videos in this Zelda-drought we've sort of been through If your looking for another one, maybe you could do a "who is the strongest Zelda" like you did with Link, Ganon, and the Champions?
The SOS message in the Divine Beasts' background music is probably my favorite hidden detail from the BotW soundtrack. But unlike many, I don't take it to be a literal last distress call from the Champions or anything like that. For that to be the case, we would have to assume not only that the background music is diegetic (i.e. literally existing in the fictional world as we the audience hear it), but that Hyrule somehow developed an identical telegraphy code to Earth's Morse code, and that really pushes the boundaries of believability. I think it's just a cool audio Easter egg that gives the music an extra, almost subliminal edge to make it that much more unsettling.
Maybe it’s some sort of Divine Beast feature. To call SOS to the other Divine Beasts. I believe from what we see in the game and Aoc the Champions control the Divine Beast with their mind or some way they’re connected to it so they could’ve done this while fighting. It could also be an ongoing signal the Divine Beasts are calling out after they detected their pilots have fallen or the way that the Champions “talk” to the Divine Beast they might have their own souls.
I definitely agree on the music front! I always think of it as the SOS being audible to Link and us as the "viewer" can hear the music intermingled with the in-world call
I think it's just an artistic expression do underline the respective champions. Revali's "morse code" being the last one sent, underlining his pride. I don't think it's an actual morse code being sent by the Divine Beast. It's just a nice attention to detail for the player to get immersed.
@@UltimateTobi Or Revali's could be last because the best place in the music to slip it in came later than the others, and the fact that it seems to mirror his character could be a happy coincidence. It feels a little weird that the soundtrack would single out just one of them in that way when for the most part the Champions are all handled very even-handedly by the narrative.
There are a bunch of subliminal things hidden in the music throughout the series. In the divine beasts, for example, you have a twisted version of the champion’s song that adds in more layers and becomes more recognizable with every terminal you activate. Another example: the Zora royals all have their names hidden in their songs.
It has been half a decade since this game was released, yet I can still watch a video like this and find something I've never seen before. It's the very reason why I'm so patient with the release of Tears of the Kingdom.... creating that much content to that level of detail takes time, and if the trend continues in Tears of the Kingdom, we will get a true work of art.
if someone else came to the challenge of 100 full lore hints and secrets, they would probably rush it. but you gave each of them the time they deserve, and i love that. thank you.
I recently noticed that in both Age of Calamity and Botw Zelda awakened her power at the FORT HATENO, although the story was really different, it’s a little thing, which both tineline-crossword-puzzles have
This is such an incredibly made video, what amazing observations you have. The attention to detail as a spectator and to the creators of each game are beyond phenomenal, absolutely enchanting experience. We are so very grateful to those who have spent hours, months and years creating, directing and bringing these worlds to life, absolute geniuses
It's beautiful how botw uses region's from previous games. It's sad how these places we know are now forgotten but It's also beautifully nostalgic. It feels like Hyrule grows older just as we do.
Watching this vid a year after Tears came out... It's fascinating to me just how much detail went into Breath of the Wild... and how little went into Tears of the Kingdom. I only did one playthrough of TotK and that was plenty for me, but BotW keeps drawing me back again and again. I don't even think it necessarily has to do with the BotW story being better than TotK's, I think it's more to do with BotW feeling like it got a lot more love and thoughtfulness from the devs.
for #84, this could be entirely coincidental or a play of words but - the fact cado's wife is named rola is extremely funny to me, seeing as "rola" is the portuguese word for "dove", a bird from the columbidae family. the fact this man is so interested in his birds, the cuckoos, and how is ex-wife is named rola / "dove" feels like devs knew exactly what they were doing. :b i'm still quite new to the fandom so all these facts were super interesting to hear about, and i thought this little contribution might be interesting as well! {:
I knew a number of these, mostly from your previous work, but there was a lot I didn't, and it was fascinating to see it all put together like this. Thank you for everything you do for the Zelda fan community!
My theory is that the Spirit Orbs are the hero's spirit gifted by Farore in each reincarnation. Link actually died in the calamity and the monks were able to contain the hero's spirit split into smaller pieces to prevent the spirit from reentering the cycle of reincarnation and moving on to a new hero years later.
The Vile Eye has done a great retrospective on Ganondorf, Ganon as well as Demise on his series Analyzing Evil. It's worth checking out if interested, and a Zeltik video would be even better.
This video couldn't come at a better time as I am just going through my second playthrough of Breath of the Wild and just reliving every bit of lore once again. What a great game!
Regarding the hearing the gods thing, I think the reason he thought Hylians couldn't do it anymore is due to their being nobody with a connection to the Sacred Realm. It was likely an ability belonging to the Goddess clan of which Hylia seems to have been the leader of (different from the Three Goddesses who made Hyrule and the triforce). It would make sense if the Goddess clan lives in the sacred realm so the ability could come from there. Zelda's ability could be due to her being a reincarnation of Hylia and therefore having an intrinsic connection to the sacred realm. Also, the eighth heroine could be a reference to a Link Between Worlds where there was the seven sages, and then you had Zelda separately. This is despite how in OoT, Zelda was the seventh sage and their leader. Therefore it could be about her original role as the seventh sage having changed to being an eighth person within those two games.
@@QuasarEE Sorry. I really don't get why they did that just for LbtW though. I guess it's probably just because they couldn't think of another way for Yuganon to get the triforce of wisdom besides Zelda having it stolen last minute.
@@CodaBlairLucarioEmperor I think there's a theory that Seres is a distant descendant of the Royal Family (all of the church keepers may be), making her eligible to be a Sage representing that branch.
@@HighPriestFuneral That's actually what I had been under the impression of. Everybody else is pretty obvious with which person they're descended from.
I know this is old but a quick correction - Hylia was/is a diety. She was/is a Goddess. When she was with that clan, she was still a goddess. Demise I think it can be argued was possibly a deity (as he was pretty much unkillable and they had to seal him inside of the master sword to even get rid of him and he *still* lives on through the reincarnation of his hatred which is Ganondorf). I say was/is in regards to Hylia as it's kind of debated on whether she actually is still a Goddess or not since she gave up her godhood to be born into the world as Zelda prior to Skyward Sword).
Honestly all the lore and little secrets are so integral to what makes it such an incredible, immersive experience. This is such a beautifully made video and your passion shines through!
This was fantastic! I loved this video so much. Please do more of these! Tiny lore details are so fun! Plus I like the break from theorizing so heavily, and more looking at cannon facts and the history of Hyrule!
Most of the list I already knew, but there were some unknown hidden gems mixed in. I never noticed the writing on the Great Plateau, so that was new, as well as a few other small details. I really enjoyed this video.
That point of there being no Gerudo king since Ganondorf is really interesting. Makes you wonder if it was a conscious choice by the Gerudo, or whether a higher power intervened after Ganondorf managed to cause so much destruction. Maybe after OoT, Zelda (or whoever took over the ruling of Hyrule) ordered the Gerudo to end the tradition? Or maybe Hylia herself intervened, stopping male Gerudos from being born completely, as a precaution and/or as punishment? Maybe Ganon still being alive is stopping some kind of reincarnation cycle, preventing the next Gerudo king from being born? Or maybe (and this is a total, baseless stretch just because it's fun to theorise) the "Male Gerudos are always destined to be king" legend was some kind of manipulative story Ganon, Kotake and Koume started among their people to get him into power? Ganondorf was absolutely a manipulator, so it wouldn't be out of character.
In Zora's domain at the top of the kingdom is a giant fish statue which I'm pretty sure is in reference to Lord Gabu Gabu from Ocarina of Time as no other fish in game looks like it. Edit: Correction, the helmet on the rubber armor also includes the same looking fish. Not sure the connection, would love if anyone could find it if there were.
Your story telling, ideas and theories are amazing. Love watching them and hope to keep seeing more for as long as possible. Keep it up and all the best dude
I love your lore videos! Just a theory on the 8th heroine: Zelda is always the 8th. She's the eighth maiden and she was the eighth sage of the war of the sages. Her ability to wield the Triforce of Wisdom will always set her apart from those she gathers to fight evil.
I think it’s think it’s interesting to mention that in the Subdue Ceremony memory scene Zelda quotes the following to Link “Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight … The sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the Hero.” which in my opinion I find it strange but interesting that the game is giving a nod to Skyward Sword, Ocarina of Time, and Twilight Princess. Again just my opinion but it is something to think about.
i believe the reason why this line of dialogue exists is because they knew the fans would be a little bit confused by the game's place in the timeline. it's obvious that the game takes place after twilight princess.
@@beardalaxy Really I think it was just to throw more of a wrench into people who they knew were gonna theorize about its placement. Though I think everyone pretty solidly agrees at this point that BotW takes place at the very end of the timeline (and most likely in a time where the timelines themselves have merged).
I do believe both botw and totk take place thousands of years after the events of twilight princess considering the fact we see the arbitors grounds ruins a replica version of the twilight mirror shards the ruins of TP Bridge of hylia And Zelda saying (The Embers of twilight)
The whale divine beast in the tech lab is seemingly leftover from the original plans for more beasts. There's a good video by Dr Lava about the cut divine beasts, and one of them has the exact same design as the tech lab's whale.
For 71, it seems odd to say they're just ignoring a tradition. Not sure if you can stop giving birth to males because the last one was a rotten egg. It's probably because Ganondorf is still alive that another Gerudo male hasn't been born. He's just sealed away under Hyrule Caste, which we now know.
I think he meant they stopped the tradition of making the males king. Maybe males have been born, but the Gerudo did not make them their king. Though we don't see any male Gerudo ever, so perhaps your theory of one can only be born if the one before is dead is correct. I'm more curious about how the Gerudo reproduce in general... We know they seek male companionships but if they don't have Gerudo males and they only marry non-Gerudo, how is their tribe not completely diluted by now?
@@cecileleducq9278 Another supporting clue about the idea that they stopped making them king is the gerudo male armour sold at the secret shop in gerudo town that the shopkeeper says is in oddly high demand. Though I still think the reason no males have been born is that ganondorf is still alive.
For the fact 54, at 22:31, about Zelda's dream I believe the woman she saw was Fi. The description of her dream perfectly matches Fi's first appearance in a dream in SS And Zelda specifies "I don't know if she was a fairy or a goddess". Considering Fi's name literally means fairy and that her design was inspired/closely resembles the Fairy Queen, it holds out imo
It’s possible, but I think it being Hylia is more likely. That dream takes place right before the calamity, and afterwards Zelda says he has the feeling that something horrible is about to happen. Fi doesn’t have the power to see into the future, but Hylia does, which is why she appeared in Zelda’s dream to try and warn her. Since Zelda’s powers weren’t awakened, though, she couldn’t hear Hylia.
@@akakay0131 She has this feeling because she had a weird dream, that doesn't mean it was Hylia We don't really know the purpose of this dream and it's true that Fi's presence would be weird here As her duty is to serve the Goddess (and formerly help the Hero), perhaps she wanted to help their descendants
@@ConceptsYep Zelda’s pretty explicit that she feels intense dread after having the dream, which doesn’t seem like a coincidence when the Calamity happened only a few days afterwards. I mean, it’s the last thing she writes about in her diary before the Calamity happens, so it must be related, or else why include it?
Just wanna say after all this time thank you zeltik for all the videos and content. I can't wait to play the next game and watch your videos that come from it.
One thing I wanted to point out about the Seven Heroine Statues being the sages, the Eighth one might be referring to Link. Given that the statues sword is further away, that could imply it being the Master Sword, the blade the Hero does not keep all the time. The reason I came to this theoretical conclusion is because in Skyward Sword, Link is the one that "creates" the Master Sword.. and if memory serves, in both ALttP and Twilight Princess, there are references to a Sage that helped in creating the Master Sword itself, thus titling Link as a Sage. But that's just a lil' random thought I had, could just be a theory in and of itself and only that.
Good day Zeltik, I know I'm late to this, but I have binged most of your video's a newer zelda fan here, only been playing since probably 2016, but I'm so upset I missed this series growing up, as I didn't have the systems to play most of them, but to me as far as world, characters and lore, zelda is second to none in gaming, and you make each video discussion with such passion and vigor, makes me glad to have a gaming community such as zelda's
22:38 for those that forgot, Hylia took a physical form as the first princess Zelda, which reveals the royal blood line also has divine blood, and thus every princess ever born from the bloodline was to be named Zelda
Amazing work. I am only about to approach my first Divine Beast in the game but your videos have me looking at the game on a deeper level, and thats good.
What a wonderful video, thanks for that mental journey back to and through Breath of the wild. That SOS one hit me right in the feels, I never knew that. Also, your voice and speech style is so calming and Idk... mystical, I'd kinda like to listen to you read out fantasy stories or something 😆
21:06 - 21:29 Also, Jini from the Mounted Archery Camp will similarly mention that "The best archers say targets seem to freeze when they concentrate on then."
i love the last one, the lord of the mountain didn't forgave him cause he felt threatened by his dog, but because his dog was devoted enough to him to protect him
Not sure if this was intentional, but I really like the subtle segue from talking about Zelda's 'figure in front of a bright light trying to speak to her' dream to a fact about Fi, who is introduced in a similar dream of Link's in SS. This whole list seemed incredibly well thought out and well written, but that one stood out.
*VERY* well done, Zeltik! I'm guessing that you could probably come up with at least another 50 lore & story secrets. The level of detail this game has continues to amaze, even 6 years later! I have a better appreciation for how one developer (can't remember specifically who) said that he didn't think players would be able to find *everything* in the game. Love this game!
I’ve heard some people say that the monsters in the lock-up were once prisoners. And when ganondorf came he saw their evil hearts and turned them into monsters to help defeat anyone who got in the way of his plan to takeover and ruin hyrule
Hey great video! Tons of time and research went into it, and it shows. I have an idea for a future video. Perhaps another “unsolved mystery” type of video. In particular a couple obscure Link to the Past references. 1) When the Master Sword is returned at the end, the text says something like, “the master sword sleeps forever”. 2) In the original manual for ALTTP, there is a reference to a SILVER BOW and arrows, but in the actual game it’s only bow and silver arrows. It may be just a typo, but I remember spending hours scouring every corner of the game to find this silver bow as a kid. Lots of love!
Your voice is so calming and you explain everything so well. You deserve so many more subscribers than all other people I’ve seen doing Zelda videos. Keep it up!
The seven heroines statues, after what we learned in Totk, are actually probably: the ancient sages of fire, water, air and lightning, Zelda, Mineru, and Rauru. I think the 8th heroine is most likely supposed to represent the 8th user of a secret stone - Ganondorf. Alternatively, it could represent Link, the modern day leader of the sages
I really like how Zelda's developers have learned to love and continue the lore of their games. If only halo and 343 could have learned this same love for their game...
I like that in the Divine Beast music the SOS and SAD overlap. The SAD in Vah Ruta comes in first but just by a second and then SOS comes in and they overlap so you can't tell which is which. Daruk's SOS came in just barely after SAD and is extremely faint. Both codes are hidden by the theme. Urbosa's SOS comes in before SAD but the SOS is hard to hear, as it gets taken over by the theme. SAD is the main code you hear. And Revali. Oh Revali. His code comes in later than all the others and his code is rushed, frantic. He knew he was going to die. SOS comes in at about the 15 second mark and SAD comes in at about the 30 second mark, and then they overlap.
15:50 I actually tested that. I was playing in master mode, I gave a silver bokoblin a metal weapon during a lightning storm. The weapon got struck, so did the bokoblin, and he remains silver
28:25 This only refers to the SECOND Calamity, which was indeed 100 years before, so makes sense that no male was born since. It is hence likely that a male Gerudo will be born soon after the events of BotW / TotK
Fun fact about the SOS notes in the Divine Beast music. Ruta, Naboris, and Rudania’s morse code start at about the same time, yet Medoh’s starts later. Revali’s pride prevented him from calling for help until the very last moment.
Or the fact that it would have taken him longer to get to medoh
@@chaos4654 ph that's a good theory!!
@@chaos4654 I could definitely see that.

@IzzyMoon.._ canon
The thing about link slowing down time as a canon thing I really like, every champion has their own special magic or technique, it makes sense that links ability would be with time.
Champion of time- hero of time- yeah checks out- pretty sure the lineages of link are proof time got laid- so
My personal headcanon is that he has 100 years of stored up time. 😅
@@rexdrag3038 that's actually kinda cool
maybe that's why link eats so much? he uses all his energy to slow down time, which messes with him, so he's a glutton to make up for it.
Edit: spelling
I’m not sure about the canonicity of this, but doesn’t Hyrule warriors show every character being able to slow time for flurry attacks?
i just wanna add, when you listen to the divine beast themes with headphones not only do you hear the morse code for SOS, but you also hear, in the other ear, SAD (short for seek and destroy) occasionally one gets louder than the other. i like to think one of the sounds is the champion calling for help like you say and the other is the blight ganon executing its master's command
Now that's a cool detail
That is both amazing and subtly horrifying!

It’s also a great nod to the games where the sages were actually all female, like A Link to the Past iirc and Four Swords
This gets confirmed in TOTK with the side quest in Gerudo town

I don’t know if it’s confirmed, but I’m pretty convinced that the house you can buy in Hatino village is Link’s old house before Calamity Ganon came back. One of the carpenters talks about no one having used the house in 100 years.
I think he also says something about the last owner being a Knight of Hyrule.
I love that Link then has to buy his old house back lol
Why would Link have a house in Hateno? He seemed to live in the castle barracks with all the other knights.
Mini TotK spoiler but it was Zelda's house

Not only is there a Sheikah woman Cheria, but she also acts as a Sheikah researcher.

I’ve never seen anybody talk about how the shrines can be broadly split into three different types and seem to be based on the triforce.
They have you either
A. Solving some sort of puzzle in the shrine in order to recieve a spirit orb (Wisdom)
B. Challenge you by making it difficult to reach the shrine to begin with and just give you the spirit orb (Courage)
And C.

For the 71 secret, you said that there hasn't been any male leader because they were ashamed of Ganondorf being one of them, but I think it's because Ganondorf isn't really dead (like we see in Tears of the Kingdom trailer) so that the "curse" can't happened again.
you make a good point i was thinking the same thing
Same with the hero of time and Zelda, you can’t reincarnate if the soul is still living elsewhere

Or the gerudo disposed of any newborn male...
But there is also the guy who sells you the gerudo disguise... And he looks a lot like a Gerudo.
@@Rafaelrgm While that would be interesting, another guy in the Gerudo Desert describes Villia as a Hylian wearing Gerudo clothes, not a Gerudo.

Not to metion it's way more probable they the Gerudo would change their traditions after Ganondorf than their biology changing.

For 95, apparently Urbosa's Fury also works against Dark Beast Ganon

That’d be fun. Spirit tracks Zelda is very unique

Link actually died in the calamity and the monks were able to contain the hero's spirit split into smaller pieces to prevent the spirit from reentering the cycle of reincarnation and moving on to a new hero years later.
That makes a lot of sense, and explains partly why a fully regenerated Link was still weak enough to be killed by Great Plateau enemies lol
I have a suggestion for a future video and that is do an entire history & lore video of ganondorf/ganon. I would love to see it !
That would be great
So would I. Great idea !!
THAT WOULD BE AWESOME AND I WOULD LOVE ZELTIK TO DO IT.
Would love to see that
The Vile Eye has done a great retrospective on Ganondorf, Ganon as well as Demise on his series Analyzing Evil. It's worth checking out if interested, and a Zeltik video would be even better.
This video couldn't come at a better time as I am just going through my second playthrough of Breath of the Wild and just reliving every bit of lore once again. What a great game!
Couldn’t agree more! I’m playing through before tears of the kingdom now!
Ditto.
There are only six regular maidens in ALttP. Zelda is the seventh.
Been up all night with an awful stress induced stomachache, this was exactly the distraction I needed for 40 minutes of peace :)
Hope you feel better bro!
Or maybe the reason no more were "born" is because they kill the male children to avoid a repeat of Ganondorf.
By translating writing found in the game, y’all are doing us fanfic writers a great service 🤩
(っ•⌓•)っ
This game has always been so mysterious and that mystery leaves players on the edge of their seats the entire playthrough. Love it!
I think that’s pretty obvious
i believe the reason why this line of dialogue exists is because they knew the fans would be a little bit confused by the game's place in the timeline. it's obvious that the game takes place after twilight princess.
He's under Hyrule Castle??
I think he meant they stopped the tradition of making the males king. Maybe males have been born, but the Gerudo did not make them their king. Though we don't see any male Gerudo ever, so perhaps your theory of one can only be born if the one before is dead is correct.
I'm more curious about how the Gerudo reproduce in general... We know they seek male companionships but if they don't have Gerudo males and they only marry non-Gerudo, how is their tribe not completely diluted by now?
@@jaclynrose5673 yes??? Have you not seen anything about Tears of The Kingdom???
@@everythingisvision I didnt realize that guy was ganondorf😭☠️
@@cecileleducq9278 Another supporting clue about the idea that they stopped making them king is the gerudo male armour sold at the secret shop in gerudo town that the shopkeeper says is in oddly high demand. Though I still think the reason no males have been born is that ganondorf is still alive.
For the fact 54, at 22:31, about Zelda's dream
I believe the woman she saw was Fi. The description of her dream perfectly matches Fi's first appearance in a dream in SS
And Zelda specifies "I don't know if she was a fairy or a goddess".
Fi's design is the mastersword design because she's the spirit of the sword
@@sweetpeapotato6861 Yeah, but look at the Fairy Queen from The Wind Waker, the similarity is there
Both could have been used as references
@@akakay0131 She has this feeling because she had a weird dream, that doesn't mean it was Hylia
We don't really know the purpose of this dream and it's true that Fi's presence would be weird here
As her duty is to serve the Goddess (and formerly help the Hero), perhaps she wanted to help their descendants
Amazing attention to detail as always - thank you for producing such high quality content! ❤
This is perhaps the best video you've ever done. The secrets of the game are everything!
Just wanna say after all this time thank you zeltik for all the videos and content. I can't wait to play the next game and watch your videos that come from it.
This episode was truly magical. Especially with tears of the Kingdom coming up.
36:12 She also has the same Voice Actor as Purah in Age of Calamity so that further proves it
6:17 Random thought, I wonder if the escape route could be the same one you use to escape with Zelda in ALttP?? That would be sick.
Welcome!
@@natural8677 thank you 😊
22:38 for those that forgot, Hylia took a physical form as the first princess Zelda, which reveals the royal blood line also has divine blood, and thus every princess ever born from the bloodline was to be named Zelda
I love that you take the time to make videos like these! So many interesting details I didn't even know about after all these years.
It would be fun if Calamity Ganon got stronger the longer you took to go fight him, as a nod to the lore… and a bonus to speed runners.
Amazing work. I am only about to approach my first Divine Beast in the game but your videos have me looking at the game on a deeper level, and thats good.
I must say Age of Calamity music fits really well to this video
What a great way to kick off my work week… love you zeltik
The amount of work you put in your videos is always appreciated, thank you so much 💕
*VERY* well done, Zeltik!
31:05 I think this is what power they have left, because the soul is the part that moves in after death.
Over a half hour!? I use your voice to go to sleep then I rewatch to actually watch. Zelda lore is my perfect sleep soundtrack lol.
