  • In this video I will be sharing the truth behind which body parts initiate the swing throughout the backswing and downswing. This is something that not enough people know about and it is so crucial in being able to create power and to make the swing feel more effortless.

    Makes perfect sense…. I’ve been a golfer for 30+ years and I’ve read about this move, but you explain it very clearly in this video. Thank you.

    I've recently got rid of a load of complicated swing thoughts and gone back to basics with the golf swing as a dynamic, balanced movement. It's made me excited about the sport again. I think the swing can be massively complicated when fundamentals like balance and sequencing are within our brains and just need to be accessed.

    Thumbs up, Jonathan! I like the way you patiently describe the sequence. I have to say it's the first time I feel comfortable with the sequence after I started some 4 years ago. We have a short season in Norway, so that is a factor, but I guess unless you are younger (54 here), you have to be carful to try out too much at once with diffferent TH-cam advice. It's termpting to get all those inputs, but they make you just more confused if it's too soon. Step by step is my advice, some take more time than others. Just the way it is.

    Great explanation.
    How do you hit further? Is that just faster weight transition and hip + upper body movement? Does the arms play a role when you want to add distance, or do they just always follow the body without you “controlling” them? That’s the one concept I still can’t figure out. Thanks

  • @MoAntphonyMo
    @MoAntphonyMo หลายเดือนก่อน

    i understand that you don't initiate the arms coming down first, however that feel is good for players that tend to spin out like myself and come over the top.

    Jonathan, I like your explanation here but could you mesh this with your "weight shift timing" instruction?

    Is the belt buckle pointing toward the ball when the lead arm is parallel or have the hips opened more to the target?

    Would you still want this separation feel for partial shots? For example a 50-75% wedge? Or a 40 yard pitch shot? Thanks so much!

      I'm no pro but I think it's better to have just one swing - as much as it is possible of course.

    • @wordupmybrotha
      @wordupmybrotha หลายเดือนก่อน

      More separation and faster uncoiling = more power
      The same sequence applies, but since partial shots need less power, a shorter backswing is needed and since slower uncoiling is needed, open up the hips at address. Basically, the first part of the sequence (lower body) is already done.

    Once you get to p6, everything should be going together. Otherwise, you’re going to get stuck like a bullfighter.
