I just had a lesson with a former LPGA tour player and this is exactly what we worked on. When I mean exact it’s like I’m with her at the lesson again. Valuable stuff and giving it away free cause he wants his audience to get the most enjoyment out of this sport. JKM is the man!!
A good rotation is a major element of an efficient golf swing. One cannot have a good swing without proper rotation. Unfortunately, too many utube videos digress to all kinds of tips to catch our attention.
Super Lesson. Excellent Teaching techniques. JKM does not rush through an explanation. His statements are clear while showing comparison positions that provide a physical expression of the verbal explanations. Well done.
Always very good. You say "kind of" a lot which is not a directive but gives the impression that what you say is not an absolute. You are my favorite instructor. You are very good. Thank you
Thank you so much, for the first time, I think I understand what I need to get my body to do to rotate. You are an amazing teacher. Can't wait to go practice.
Just started playing at 45 years old. Watched a ton of other videos and this one made so much sense and helped me so much. Earned a sub! Can’t wait to watch your other videos now. Thanks!
You absolutely NAILED my tilt problem, right down to how I look in my follow-through. I've been fighting early extension for months now, and I've figured out that, as long as I get both shoulders under or at the ball in my swing, I maintain my tilt throughout. I just have to remember not to lift my head during my downswing and make sure my trail shoulder passes under my chin BEFORE I move my head. Great tips!
This is an epic video! Thank you Jonathan! I really appreciate how you explained each body part position from ground up. I realized that the incorrect posture that I learned 25 years ago is what's causing immobility in my swing.
Great video, thanks. I’m a beginner golfer (just four months in!), and I struggle with balance on follow through. I tend to stumble forward. So, I’m anxious to try what’s in this video to help stabilize me. Much appreciated!
Love your videos bro!!! Thank you so much for all the great content you post it’s been really helpful. Would you ever consider doing content where you review swings of your subscribers? Would love to learn more on how I can improve my swing to be as fluid as yours.
Another bad thing about flattening the shoulder turn in the backswing is that the hips then move forward towards the ball in order to maintain balance, then you lose all the space for your hands to come through impact. I noticed myself doing this in a recent video, when I rehearse keeping the left shoulder tilt in my backswing, the problem was solved. Hips stay back nicely and I finish in balance deeper into the left heel. Thanks for confirming this!
Great video!, my posture was to bent over the ball, I was having trouble getting my hip out of the way and ended up up with early extension. Now much better and my ball first contact has vastly improved.I also keep my shoulders more relaxed has helped with my club speed and rotation.
I think people have to feel free to lift their lead heel when doing their backswing. For me, it's just a natural motion to raise that heel....and it used to be pretty standard for golfers in the past. So many golfers limit their backswing....simply because they think they're not supposed to lift that lead heel.
I love the video. I was hoping you showed the side tilt from straight on view. I know this is more obvious in the driver swing, but is it a thought in the longer irons or woods? I think the drill for keeping you head against the wall is a great prompt.
Hi, excellent content once again. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Could you provide some content with regards to arms and chest being connected and simultaneously the elbows being squeezed together. I’m trying different things at the range at the minute and I probably need a drill or something! Cheers
Hi jkm My back normally has a curve in it at the lumbar region When you spoke of a straight back with examples did you engage your core and keep it engaged throughout the swing? I’ve had right sacro pain mostly if I hang back a bit and get after the driver Seems when I fully commit to move left posting left hip over left ankle the club naturally shallows and good things happen but I feel like center of chest is a bit passed the ball Anyway please address the core of u could Take care Bank
Great stuff (as always) 👍🏻 Q. r.e. Knee Flex: should your LEFT KNEE move forward (toward the ball)? … or, should the LEFT KNEE kick in (toward the right knee)? It seems in an effort to get more hip turn and tilt in the backswing, some people let the left knee move laterally, which might make it difficult to get back to the left (weight shift toward target and post up on the left leg) Do you worry about the left knee? Should we? I have a slight tear in my left miniscus (pain), but it doesn’t seem to impair my ability to post up on it. But twisting (torque) in my left knee hurts. Keep up the good work 👊🏻
Love the content JKM! Just subbed! What do you recommend in terms of pressure in the grip? How hard are you gripping the club? and also which hand dominates/starts the downswing? I’m right handed and tend to grip the club harder with my right which ends up turning into not being able to keep my elbow leading and an early extension / steep downswing. I’m curious if hand pressure would help me keep the club more shallow
On the transition to the front is the left leg straightening before arms come down or are your arms and chest coming down which allows the left hip to go up and back.Great content as usual
I wouldn’t straighten the lead leg before the arms come down. If you straighten out the lead leg too early you won’t be able to get as much weight to the left side. Usually the lead leg will straighten more through impact as the club comes closer to impact
When rotating my back foot comes off the ground - what is your advise here? Is there a right/wrong here or it doesn’t matter so long as I don’t hyperextend early ?
How does this change when using driver? Less forward body tilt at address, and wider feet positioning. I found it is a lot harder to rotate with driver the same way I rotate with my irons
When you do that backswng and downswing what goes on in your hands , ? Do you just hold on to it and let the body control the arms and hands or do. you apply pressure or cock your wrists or apply a force throuhg your arms? Ot just let the body rotation control the arms and hands?
I just started last year and I’m a basketball player my latest TH-cam short is me recently practicing and it’s been an interesting journey, i think for newbies the difficult part is posture and positioning once you get those down it becomes alil easier with some tweaks
I have practiced for months and I just CANNOT stop raising up and rolling. I am so frustrated that I can't maintain my posture in the downswing / rotation. I'm at the point where I want to give up.
I think it’s beneficial to understand the mistake so that you can have a clearer understanding of what you are trying to accomplish when doing it correctly
@@JKMGolf thank you for reply I think most people , especialy children , learn by visual instruction best by slowmotion BECAUSE THE SWING IS ABOUT ONE SECOND
Yea there are some cases for sure. Doing some basic stretches on a daily basis can really help you learn movements that you werent capable of physically

Knee towards the ball is far preferable to allowing it to collapse sideways towards your other knee.
It is ok for the lead knee to come in a bit because this can encourage you to turn more but ensure it doesn’t get behind the ball too much

I’m right handed and tend to grip the club harder with my right which ends up turning into not being able to keep my elbow leading and an early extension / steep downswing. I would still grip the club around a 7/10. One hand should not completely dominate.

I wouldn’t straighten the lead leg before the arms come down. If you straighten out the lead leg too early you won’t be able to get as much weight to the left side. Usually the lead leg will straighten more through impact as the club comes closer to impact
How you get them quads JKM?
Loool squats…lots of squats

Yes 🎉

Similar concepts but set up changes need to be made and certain movements like extension happen at faster rate and more
Fit for fun
I would love a 'kinda' counter 😂👌
When you do that backswng and downswing what goes on in your hands , ? Do you just hold on to it and let the body control the arms and hands or do. you apply pressure or cock your wrists or apply a force throuhg your arms? Ot just let the body rotation control the arms and hands?

Please don't talk too much about the wrong , and instead talk more about the correct way and how to check it.
Good in general, but takes too much time explaining what other people do wrong! Like the rest of the swing coaches.
its because people will misunderstand very easily so there needs to be some context
