    I was fortunate that my ice tray had not broke but was stuck in the ‘ice dumping mode’. I disassembled everything by following your steps, put it all back together and works like a charm! Thank you for the instructions!

    You are right...anyone can do it. Thank you so much for such an awesome video to help housewives like me who would otherwise have to do without an ice maker since I won't pay $300 to have it fixed by a technician. My ice tray was broke and so was the 'fill tube'. I ordered a new tray from Amazon for less than $10 and managed to use a molding/glue-type putty to fix the tube and with a tiny bit of help from my hubby (he had to get the new ice tray back in since I was afraid I was going to break it)...voila...we have ice again : )

    After changing my water filter, the ice maker and water both stopped working. I discovered the flexible ice tray had broken. Bought a new one, installed it , and quickly found out why it had broken. It was hitting a frozen column of ice in the water inlet hose during the test function, but luckily did not break the new tray. Trouble shooting the water supply , I thawed it out and bled the air out of the system and presto it works again! I believe it was letting a dribble of water through each time it called for the ice tray fill, and it froze in the tray fill hose until if formed a solid 1" diameter column, (because of not bleeding the air properly after the filter change). Now I check that hose every day or so, and so far it is good. Thanks for the excellent video.

      Water issues like these are often the water valve. The "little dribble of water" is often referred to as a "weeping" water valve. Meaning, the water valve should slam the door shut when the icemaker says "no more water." But, some valves as they age or even when they get warm, may stick or the solenoid doesn't close all the way. This allows water to "weep" into the line. It slowly makes its way up to the freezer, where it dribbles a little. But, those drips slowly build up until you see a block of ice or until it freezes inside the elbow in the freezer and blocks the water line. Any water related issue often require replacing the water valve, just to be safe. Water valves can work great, until they dont, but they can also kind work...which makes it difficult to diagnose. If you feel there's too much or not enough water, I would replace the valve, clear the lines again, and start fresh.

    Suggestion: attach the ice tray in the back end and to the motor, before clicking the motor in into place. This increases the ease of fitting the ice tray and reduces the chance of breaking it.

    could you show how the bucket goes in? I ha a similar fridge with a bucket twice the size. I can't seem to figure out which orientation that metal rod goes in. There is a plastic square piece. Does the rod slide in or under that piece? This metal rod controls the door and ice crusher of the bucket. In my case when I slide it in one way, it only spits out cubed ice, and an other way only crushed. I'm lost here. Thanks

    My ice maker was working fine except for the occasional freezing problem. We had someone install a new sink but he didn’t reattach the water line to the fridge. Approximately 9 months later my wife’s brother-in-law hooked it back up, call me crazy but after changing the filter/resetting the red filter light I expected to have ice 24 hours later. Being disabled due to cancer that’s about the extent of the work I’m able to do! After all that I haven’t been able to get the ice maker to work, definitely not frozen, plenty of water pressure, I drink the cold water out of the dispenser .
    Please sit if you have any ideas for my problem I would forever be great full!!

    • @SupplyingDemand
      @SupplyingDemand  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After changing the filter, it is recommended to flush 4 gallons of water. This is because once the water line is disconnected or the filter is changed, this introduces air into the water line and that air becomes trapped. So flushing the system removes, not only the air, but also any filter carbon sediment that may come off the filter during the initial use. If this step was not completed, it's possible that for the few seconds the icemaker calls for water, it may only be spitting air or very little water until the excess air is fully purged from the system.
      The water valve is likely a dual valve, which means it has two solenoids that split the water inlets. One goes to the dispenser. One goes to the icemaker. It is possible the icemaker valve sat too long or possibly burned up if the water was disconnected and the icemaker continued to run or was not turned off. This is all speculation, of course. But definitely a few things to keep in mind.
      When I breakdown an icemaker issue that not's cycling, I try to trace the water flow to diagnose the issue.
      1.) Water Supply
      2.) Water Valve or Solenoid
      3.) Water Line
      4.) Icemaker Controls (door switches, relay, control boards, ice level sensors, on/off switches, reset, etc.)
      5.) Icemaker
      By far, 4 is the trickiest part. Icemakers rarely function independently. They must "get approval" either from onboard control boards or sensors, or a relay on the main control board of the refrigerator. They receive information from the refrigerator to cycle when it's cold enough to freeze ice the quickest. Icemakers also call for water to the valve. If the valve sticks and doesn't open to send water OR sticks and remains open overfilling the tray, that could mean you have a sluggish, faulty solenoid on your water valve.
      But, it could also be a door switch, the ice level sensors (if equipped), or may just need a reset. All of the above are possibilities. Eliminate the easiest ones first. Flush the system with several gallons. You can use the dispenser. Ensure your icemaker/freezer does not have an on/off switch and/or ice level sensors that may also have an on/off switch. If everything looks good, unplug the refrigerator for 5-10 mins and plug back in to reset all controls, like rebooting a computer. If after 48 hours no ice is produced, I would suspect a faulty water valve. But, if the icemaker continued to cycle for 9 months without water, it's possible both the icemaker and valve may be faulty. Especially if it continued to cycle. Neither the valve or icemaker can sense water, so it would've continued cycling as if water was connected.
      The prior freezeups you mentioned can often be contributed to, or an indicator of, a defrost system failure. For example, if your freezer door seal was not fully seated and warm air entered the freezer and frosted up the icemaker, and freezing up the fragile plastic gears. If the freezeups are not frost, but solid water, like overfills...that is usually a sign of a faulty valve not closing completely and seeping into the icemaker fill tray during the cycle.
      I hope this helps in some way. Keep up posted if anything works.

    • @SupplyingDemand
      @SupplyingDemand  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      First thing is to unplug the unit and allow the CPU and other controls to reset. Unplug for about 5 minutes and then plug back in and see if anything resets. If not then the best thing to do is locate a wiring diagram. This can be found in many cases on the refrigerator either around the lower rear where the compressor is or under the refrigerator around the drip tray. Can also be located inside sometimes in an envelope tucked away in the lower part of the refrigerator. Once you locate the wiring diagram see what powers the dispenser. It's either the main control or another small board tucked inside the dispenser itself. Most likely the issue is between these 2 items if a reset does not work. A model number can help us track down the parts you may need if the reset does not work. In some cases the dispenser assembly would have to be replaced, but sometimes the controls are sold separately as well. I hope this helps and let us know if you need anymore help.

      Pushing the reset button on mine did not make any sound or cause the motor to turn (it had one time before when I had ice maker trouble). Following Samsung info I found online, I turned the power to the fridge off for 2 minutes, then when I turned power back on and pressed the reset button, the tray turned, then returned to start position, and filled with water. So luckily I didn't have to replace any parts, but this video is a great resource if the ice maker ever does really break down. It had stopped working right after I replaced the water filter (and I'd shut off water supply when I did that). I don't know if that's just a coincidence or if it caused the problem.

    My ice maker is identical to this. One day my wife noticed that she wasn’t getting ice. I pulled the bucket and it was empty. The tray had ice that didn’t dump. I cleaned out the tray, reinstalled everything and hit reset button for several seconds. Nothing happened. So...what could it be? The inside of the freezer has zero ice buildup anywhere.

  • @andrewhigdon8346
    @andrewhigdon8346 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Use a drill instead of an impact driver. Impact drivers are meant to do just that. Drive fasteners with repeated impacts to get them tighter than you would generally be able to with a handheld screwdriver. But most drills have a clutch, which is there expressly to accomplish what you were warning of. Stripping the plastic threads, or any threads for that matter. The clutch is fully adjustable such that it stops driving the fastener when the torque level you set by adjusting the clutch is reached, from very, very low inch-pounds to several foot-pounds of torque. Knowledge. Getcha some

    How about incredibly slow ice dispensing on a french door style Samsung fridge?

    • @SupplyingDemand
      @SupplyingDemand  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Incredibly slow ice dispensing - Is the ice bucket full? Or is there very little ice? And did you mean that when you put the cup underneath to dispense ice, you hear the auger motor spin but very little ice comes out despite having a full bucket? Or did you mean the icemaker produces ice very slowly and it doesn't fill up which causes the auger to "hunt" for ice to dispense? Did all that make sense? :)

    I press the test button and it works fine . But it still won't produce ice the normal way .

    • @SupplyingDemand
      @SupplyingDemand  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it cycles correctly during the test but doesn't produce ice under normal operation, there are a few possible reasons and next steps to consider:
      1.) Water Supply: Ensure that the refrigerator is connected to a water supply and that the valve is fully open. Sometimes, a partially closed valve or kinked water line can restrict water flow to the icemaker.
      2.) Freezer Temperature: Verify that the freezer temperature is set between 0°F and 5°F (-18°C to -15°C). If the freezer is too warm, the icemaker won't produce ice efficiently.
      3.) Filter Check: If your refrigerator has a water filter, it might be time to replace it. A clogged water filter can restrict water flow to the icemaker, affecting ice production.
      4.) Icemaker Fill Tube: Check the fill tube that supplies water to the icemaker. It can freeze, blocking water flow. A gentle warm water flush can help clear any ice buildup.
      5.) Door Switch: Make sure the refrigerator door is closing properly. If the door switch isn't activated, the refrigerator might not go into the ice-making cycle.
      If you've gone through these steps and the icemaker is still not producing ice normally, it could be an issue with the icemaker itself or the refrigerator's control board. At this point, it might be worth consulting with a professional technician who can provide a more detailed diagnosis and solution. I hope this helps get your icemaker back to full functionality! If you have any more questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out.
