    I'm doing same on a 78 f 100 stepside. ..on the top lip of New Mount you put screws to hold it in place to hold it tightly for weld but is it OK to leave the screws in ?

    • @OrangeWiresGarage
      @OrangeWiresGarage  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      After welding in place I took the screws out and welded up the holes.

    Is there a reason why you welded in the cab mount first, and then the floor pan after? I need to do this soon to my crewcab.
    And second, did you flange weld or butt weld the sides and rear of the pan? If so, why did you choose that route. Appreciate the info.

    • @OrangeWiresGarage
      @OrangeWiresGarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It jUst seemed a little easier to position the cab mount and weld it first. We left a flange and tried it both ways punched some holes in the new floor pan and plug welded those but in the end wound up welding it continuously around the whole pan taking our time of course to keep the heat down. Thanks for watching and good luck on yours.

    Question for dentside gurus: my 79 f150 is pretty rusty but the frame and drivetrain are good so I want to fix the rust up on the cheap. So my drivers door is binding and won't open. Could it be this cab mount or what parts should I check?

    • @OrangeWiresGarage
      @OrangeWiresGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can tell if it’s the cab mount by checking the gap at the fender and drivers door. If the gap is wide at the bottom most likely cab mount. Our cab mount was rusted away but the door opened fine. Maybe check your hinges and Striker. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Mike!
    1. Where did you purchase your floor pans and cab mounts?
    2. Did your replacement cab mounts and floor pan fit correctly or were they a bit off?

    • @OrangeWiresGarage
      @OrangeWiresGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Corey. Picked those up off eBay honestly they fit pretty good but did have to fiddle with them a bit. Overall though I was pretty happy with them
