OHH man i just picked up a used a7c yesterday! perfect timing mark. Also can you do a a7c "best settings" video? I would love that for photo and video like you did with the zve10, thanks!
Btw, I'm so lucky i come across your reviews and bought zv-e10 earlier when it was half price comparing to today. Now in Turkey, in a year because of our currency lost half of its value, all electronics are at least doubled their prices.
Hi Mark, I've watched all your videos - they're great! I need a camera for indoor teaching (whiteboard and me). My budget allows for the Sony a7 III (€1150), a7C (€1400), or ZV-E10 (€650). Which, with what lens, would be best? Or should I just use my iPhone 15 Pro? Thanks!
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Idk if I can explain that in English but... when pan moving the camera, areas with more contrast (like the vertical white wood of the window in your backyard) seems to flicker.... Idk if I could explain well. I thought it could be a camera problem.
The a6600 is a great camera - but it is hard to justify the price of the body compared to the A7C. However, since you can get great glass the Sigma 1.4 trio for the a6600 - it’s starts to make more sense financially
Don't worry i also bought the a6600 when the a7c just launched and week before zve10. Im having doubts why i didn't bought the a7c because at that time the price is 1,900 more to get the a7c. I can get a7c but decided to get the a6600 with 18-135mm lens with added gifts like tripod, sony camera bag and lens cleaner instead of the a7c with 28-70mm lens. But when i learned about the catalyst browse damn that sony why didn't they include it on firmware update for a6600.
Thank you for yet another great video, Mark! I've learned so much about video from you. One question I can't figure out is how the lens compability between the A7C and ZV-E10. My current camera is the ZV-E10, but if I want to upgrade down the road to the A7C or a camera with the same lens mount, can I use the lense from the ZV-E10? Anyways, thank you for all the great stuff you put out here on the TH-cams :)
You can use the same lenses, yes. An APSC lens on Sony will switch a full frame camera into crop mode and it will work in video no problem - still plenty of pixels for 4K on any Sony full frame that has 24 megapixels or more. For photos though, you’ll want a full frame lens too you don’t lose too many pixels in crop mode (24 goes down to You can also buy full frame lenses right now for the ZV-E10 and they will operate just like the APSC lenses. So a 24mm full frame will be a 36mm equivalent on the ZV-E10.
Hi Mark, love your video's and the humor in it. Can you make a video with the zve 10 how the footage looks on a gimball ? And i tested the catalyst browse out on shutter 200 but I have the problem that it is overexposed when I am walking around outside in sunny places. How can I solve this problem and what are the correct settings for both in bright sun and indoors without having to constantly adjust the shutter for catalyst browse?
I did a couple of videos with the ZV-E10 and a gimbal - here's one th-cam.com/video/u40_dHVHqFg/w-d-xo.html Raising your shutter speed to 1/200 actually darkens the image. But outside in the sunshine - you generally need something called an ND filter (sunglasses for your lens). Catalyst is probably not great for indoors because you will get light flicker at the higher shutter speeds of 1/200. So you're better off with a gimbal inside. But the first thing to do outside in the sunshine is set the camera to "S" which is shutter priority, Set that at 1/200 and let you camera do the rest. You can also set it in "A" for aperture priority if you want to control your background blur.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thank you for your great help, the crane m3 looks fantastic on your video and also delivers beautiful images and because I film during the day as well as at night it might be better to buy this one. I’ve now officially owned the A7c and the zv-1. Sold them both actually for different reasons at times (probably financial? Lol) and now for financial reasons picked up the Zve-10 because it seemed it would give me the most bang for the buck, and like it might give me the best of both worlds that the zv1 and A7c gave me (ie- some auto focus abilities and the extra stabilization the from the zv-1, and the better image quality and interchangeable lens ability of the A7c) and happily I wasn’t wrong. It’s exactly that. Super happy with the Zve-10, and the best part that I love over the A7c is it’s pocketability. Especially with some sort of pancake lens. I take it everywhere with a hand strap and generally keep it in my pocket when I’m not using it. It’s also the perfect size for stealth in street photography. Actually a super street photography sleeper imo and experience, from using other cameras like the Ricoh gr series and the x100v. I surprisingly prefer it over those for so many reasons. Not to mention it’s insane amount of versatility. Rig it up for a video shoot or throw on a pancake for street or pop a big lens for portraits etc. and then go home and hook it up to your computer for your Twitch streams! So far super happy with this little “Dougie” 😊

Can you please tell me if someone need go with sony a7c over zve10 what should be the main reason please ? is there bad rolling shutter even in a7c ? which one will be good to use old lenses when we upgrade in future ?
Absolutely love this video! Bought the E10 per your recommendation and this confirms it's a great choice for the price. Is there anyway you could do an HLG3 start to finish with the camera settings, picture profile emphasis. I've watched your other video 100 times and for some reason I can't nail the HLG3 settings to where everything is setup right. Not sure if it's the auto-white balance or steps that I'm missing. The cool thing is there aren't a lot of videos with the actual camera settings for different cameras with why it wouldn't work to then dropping in HLG3 (Leeming Lut is amazing) Thanks so much for taking the time to release these videos! You're humor and detail is amazing! 🔥
I’ll make you wait… nah I’ll tell you now. 🤣 I like (full frame equivalent) 35mm in the studio and documentaries, 16-24 outdoor vlogging and landscape photos,, 85mm for portrait photos - 24-70 zoom for when I don’t know what I’m walking into.
Sony zv e10 with viltrox 23mm f1.4. Vs sony a7c with samyang 35mm f.4. Plz suggest a good one between two. My requirements are good bright video quality?
I use A6400 For video work and that really sharp, But switch to A7C and shot the same work again is just mind blowing. the contrast, the color are a lot better. and yes the price too.
Hi Mark, first of all thank you for all the zv-e10 videos and advices. You are the reason I’m holding my ZV-e10 in my hand right now but now is time for me to go fullframe. I want to ask you something. In this video you mention that the Sony a7iii is better for photography than a7c. It’s hard for me to choose between them so can you explain why a7iii is better than a7c?
it’s better for photos in my opinion because it has two card slots (so you have a safety options when you can’t lose the pics like on a paid shoot), it has a bigger EVF which makes it easier to see what you’re shooting, and it has a faster maximum shutter speed of 1/8000 as opposed to 1/4000 which is good in bright conditions when you want a blurry background. but honestly, they are very close in the photo department. if you aren’t going to be shooting professionally and don’t need the two card slots, both cameras will perform pretty much the same.
Another great video! If you still have the A7C would you consider doing a video on that with the Sony FE 24/40/50mm G lenses? I’m considering getting that setup as it’s so lightweight for vlogging (with the 24) and talking head with either the 40 or 50, would love to see that video if you get a chance
I had to send the A7C back, and I don’t have any of the G lenses - but I do think you can use the 24 for both vlogging and talking head - just switch the A7C into APSC mode and you’ll get the equivalent of a 36mm. I do this all the time with the A7iv and the 24mm GM.
Hi Mark! I am having A6400 atm and thinking 2nd body. Considering ZV-E10 and A7C. As you have both, can you please check: - A6400 can do only 2 of these three at the same time: 4K video, face tracking, proxy recording. You can't have all 3. Can these two cameras do all 3 at the same time? - A6400 gives ClearImageZoom 1.5× in 4K and 2× in FullHD. How is it on A7C? And how is it on A7C with APS-C glass? Thank you very much, if you help me with those questions. P. S. Great video as always!
Thanks for this comparison Mark. I don't see a difference between both setups in 15" screen. I wonder the difference between Sony 16-50 oss kit lens and Sigma 16mm in day light situation on ZV-E10. If you can. Thank you in advance.
Another question Mark 😊! You mentioned that you applied the Paul Leeming corrective Lut. Besides having applied the Lut, what others steps were taken in the color process?
Usually I just lower the shadows and raise the highlights a tiny bit - sometimes not at all if I’ve set my exposure well and that’s it. So, in other words, nothing. 🤣
If you plan doing talking heads videos in your studio aka bedroom or attic, and can't get Sony zve10 at present, try Elgato facecam. Apparently this webcam has Sony sensor and you can adjust settings like ISO and aperture. It costs fraction of zve10 you can't find and gets you going ASAP. Money saved you can put for your better gear or lights that will make more quality improvement in your videos.
Mark help me! Is the a7C for $1200 a good enough deal to go full frame? My use case is mainly YT video talking head and some stationary street interviews, plus also the occasional photo session with the kids... the a7 iii is also about the same price but i would need a second monitor, since that one does not flip.
Hi Mark. Thank you for showing the ZVE10 rolling shutter. From what I hear in other reviews, the rolling shutter on the A7C is also bad. But between the two, which is better and is it by much?
The rolling shutter is not great on the A7C, but it’s worse on the zv-e10. probably twice as bad. I have never noticed any rolling shutter issues when using the a7c or a7iii, it’s definitely workable, The ZV-E10 needs extra attention when moving the camera if not using catalyst browse. With the way I use the ZV-E10, I have no problems with the rolling shutter. But I don’t swing cameras around or do a bunch of whip pans or film car races 🤣
Yeah, right now people are paying insane prices for a used ZV-E10 (because it's sold out everywhere and currently not even manufactured due to the worldwide chip shortage)... you could probably get an A6500 with a kick-ass lens for the price, maybe even an A6600 and those have real IBIS. I have the A6300, which is still one heck of a camera and I'm actually eyeing upgrading to a used A7R II or III, because all my APSC lenses will still work without losing much resolution and I can add full frame glass over time... Sony really has the most versatile system right now! :)
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ok thanks. I will follow it but if we get a good blur with 16mm lens only then why buying 50mm 70mm etc zoom lens 😏 just asking.
hahs thank you! I do have a question. Im thinking in one of those cameras to use in big drones. That means movement and high vibration context and that means jello because of the sensor read speeds etc. Do you think the a7c will behave significantly better? The low weight of the zve10 was very attractive for flying it, (as well as the price). Thank you!!!
It changes the crop to 35 full frame - so it wasn't great for the comparison vid - but I use it all the time on the channel - looks great - similar to the 16mm sigma, but a tighter focal length
for family stuff I find the iPhone is great. There will be a big learning curve with the zv-e10 - the iPhone is so much rpessoer with travel and we quick family photo / video
I have a zve10 and it's amazing, but I don't like the 16,50mm it's not that sharp or high resolution for me, I shoot a lot, what's the best lens for me yet it's not expensive
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis great content you are making , and such a value effort for alot of people including myself, from my country Syria shout-out for you mate

Top notch content upload. I'm 1 click away from "upgrading" from my a7c to the a7iv. Outside of color grading flexibility do you believe it's a beneficial upgrade for video?
The A7C is still great. But the extra video features of the A7iv are definitely worth it. The 10-bit, the 4k60, the breathing compensation with Sony lenses, the colors in general, two card slots. It’s also a much better camera for photos.
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Thanks a lot =) I really need a second camera for overhead shots and closeups and I have the a7c already. I was thinking that could be cheaper to pair up the one i have with a zv-e10 and a sigma 16mm. I shoot in slog2 and I would like something that in video seems the same camera. What do you think? Your comparison made me saying "oh crap, amazing!" haha
Thanks for the great comparison! I'm curious to hear your thoughts about the ZV-E10 vs. the a6600? It seems to me that the larger battery and IBIS would make the a6600 a better option albeit costing $700 more at retail price, but cheaper than the A7C overall by not having to get very expensive lenses (say you get the sigma trio).
The a6600 does work if you buy the sigma trio. But , because it’s so close to the price of the A7C it’s hard not to recommend the A7C. when it comes to video, you can still get the sigma lenses, but just put the A7C in crop mode. When it comes to photos, you have to choose you full frame lenses wisely, but you can get the fantastic Sony 85 f1.8 for just a little more than the Sigma 56, the Sony 50mm 1.8 instead of the Sigma 30, etc. So while the a6600 is great, I would wait for a refresh of that camera or get the A7C
Hi Mark! Just wanted to drop a video suggestion for you! I always hear people say “don’t shoot slog in 8 bit cameras because the colors will start to fall apart” but like what the heck does that mean? What if I’m not doing heavy color grading or trying to color grade the next Joker movie 😂 Just want to use corrective luts. Would the zve10 be good for this? What’s really the difference between 10bit and 8bit? And would you be able to match footage? Just a thought 👍🏻😃
I will likely do a video on this soon. So slog compresses the image a lot to keep all the shadows and highlights. Moves the shadows up and the highlights down so that everything is in the middle. So even when only applying a corrective LUT, you have to stretch the image a lot to get proper colours. so if you don’t have enough colour info, stretching that image will leave problems. like trying to stretch a piece of fabric that is too small- you’re going to get some tips or tears. So that might be weird skin tones, bright splotches in the sky, weird purple banding on the image, etc. 10-bit has so much colour I for that this doesn’t happen as easily.
I just went for an A6100 for $600 with minimal use cuz I did a fair amount of research and see that it's a really good alternative from ZV-E10 (plus EVF) cuz of shortage. I also don't really need the weather seal, stabilization and some other features that the A7C has cuz I'm mostly gonna use it indoors and used it for A and B-Rolls for my videos on a tripod and slider. ^^
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ooooo nice! Am looking forward to see that video and your thoughts about it! Think the only con from what I've seen is that the screen flips upwards rather than on the side so it can interfere with the mic but I think you can solve that by investing a cage for the camera.

OHH man i just picked up a used a7c yesterday! perfect timing mark. Also can you do a a7c "best settings" video? I would love that for photo and video like you did with the zve10, thanks!
Just love your content, you make it look easy
well, to be fair, I’m not doing anything too hard 🤣
I love my A7C. If only it had two card slots, it would be the ultimate budget / travel full frame option for even professional use
Yes!! Two card slots wold have been terrific for so many people.
Another fun video. Thanks. I love the kit lens! Super sharp, good color and the camera fits in my pocket!
I can’t believe how often I use it!!
Btw, I'm so lucky i come across your reviews and bought zv-e10 earlier when it was half price comparing to today. Now in Turkey, in a year because of our currency lost half of its value, all electronics are at least doubled their prices.

@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Here unfortunately it is devastating. Life sucks here :) so i hold on what i have :)
I’m stuck between these 2 cameras which should I get the A7C used for 600 or ZVe10 500 used
Hi Mark,
I've watched all your videos - they're great! I need a camera for indoor teaching (whiteboard and me). My budget allows for the Sony a7 III (€1150), a7C (€1400), or ZV-E10 (€650). Which, with what lens, would be best? Or should I just use my iPhone 15 Pro?
Thanks!
Great video... like always...
And you just cleared a doubt I had about the A7C (which I bought about 1 month ago), indirectly.... Thanks...
Glad I could help - what was the doubt??
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Idk if I can explain that in English but... when pan moving the camera, areas with more contrast (like the vertical white wood of the window in your backyard) seems to flicker.... Idk if I could explain well. I thought it could be a camera problem.
One of the biggest mistakes I've made is buying the a6600 instead of the A7C. I was just starting out and didn't know any better :(
The a6600 is a great camera - but it is hard to justify the price of the body compared to the A7C.
Thanks bro, Zve-10 is a monster for your price!
You deserve more subs bruz
I keep telling the algorithm that - but it doesn’t listen 🤣
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis you'll get there
Hi Mark, love your video's and the humor in it.
I did a couple of videos with the ZV-E10 and a gimbal - here's one th-cam.com/video/u40_dHVHqFg/w-d-xo.html
Raising your shutter speed to 1/200 actually darkens the image.
Great comparo! (And add another vote for an a7c best settings video)
Thanks! Will do!
It's SUCH a great camera. You're right about the stealth street photography too. What pancake lens are you using?

Absolutely love this video! Bought the E10 per your recommendation and this confirms it's a great choice for the price. Is there anyway you could do an HLG3 start to finish with the camera settings, picture profile emphasis. I've watched your other video 100 times and for some reason I can't nail the HLG3 settings to where everything is setup right. Not sure if it's the auto-white balance or steps that I'm missing. The cool thing is there aren't a lot of videos with the actual camera settings for different cameras with why it wouldn't work to then dropping in HLG3 (Leeming Lut is amazing)
Thanks so much for taking the time to release these videos! You're humor and detail is amazing! 🔥
yes - manually white balance and it will make a big difference.
Hey Mark, what are some of your favorite focal lengths, or do I have to wait until you make a video about it?
I’ll make you wait… nah I’ll tell you now. 🤣 I like (full frame equivalent) 35mm in the studio and documentaries, 16-24 outdoor vlogging and landscape photos,, 85mm for portrait photos - 24-70 zoom for when I don’t know what I’m walking into.

Sony zv e10 with viltrox 23mm f1.4. Vs sony a7c with samyang 35mm f.4. Plz suggest a good one between two. My requirements are good bright video quality?
the A7C with the Samyang 1.4 would be better. although I would probably choose the Sony 35 1.8 if it’s available and in the budget
I use A6400 For video work and that really sharp, But switch to A7C and shot the same work again is just mind blowing. the contrast, the color are a lot better. and yes the price too.

Whats the better b-cam for video?
Thanks for the video 👍
Thank you very much for helping me make the right decision for myself. I wish you all the best!
Hilarious comparison.. love it
his facial expression while doing the camera always has me. very Iconic 😆😆
Iconic!!
Hi Mark! I am having A6400 atm and thinking 2nd body. Considering ZV-E10 and A7C. As you have both, can you please check:
- A6400 can do only 2 of these three at the same time: 4K video, face tracking, proxy recording.
Does zv-e10's sensor produces same sharp quality images that what we get in a6600??
yes - it’s the same sensor. 👍
Is there a way to render all your clips in catalyst browse all at once? Just so you don’t have to click wait repeat
Not in the free version, unfortunately
is it possible to use zve10 lenses in full frame sony cameras ?
yes - the will go into APS-C crop mode
Thanks for this comparison Mark. I don't see a difference between both setups in 15" screen. I wonder the difference between Sony 16-50 oss kit lens and Sigma 16mm in day light situation on ZV-E10. If you can. Thank you in advance.
the kit lens will look great, but you just won’t have that same blurry background 😎
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis Yeah, I don't want that much bokeh 💐👍 Thank you Mark
I’ll have to check it out
Mark help me! Is the a7C for $1200 a good enough deal to go full frame? My use case is mainly YT video talking head and some stationary street interviews, plus also the occasional photo session with the kids... the a7 iii is also about the same price but i would need a second monitor, since that one does not flip.
yes - get that A7C for 1200
Does Catalyst Browse works well with underwater footage?. I want to purchase A7C with underwater casing.
I have not tried that but I can’t see why not
Does those new Sony Lenses releasing soon for APS-C place it above the A7c? Do you think a Mark II A7c might be finally coming this fall?
I think the A7C is above all the APS-C cameras still. I do think there will be a new flagship APSC coming soon.
Excellent comparison...
Thanks! 👍
Very useful content..
When exporting video from catalyst brows is it loose any quality? I know about cropping but I am asking for the render quality
In 8-bit footage there is no perceptible quality loss to my eyes.
I just picked one up from best buy, They had it in in less than a week😁
Nice!!
yes, between the emount and the video features and ALL the lenses out - it’s har pd to recommend anything else.
How to get that blur with Sigma f 1.4 lens. Is there any option in Sony zv e 10 camera.
you need to set the aperture to 1.4. put it in “A” mode and put it at 1.4
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ok thanks. I will follow it but if we get a good blur with 16mm lens only then why buying 50mm 70mm etc zoom lens 😏 just asking.
Zve10+ 16mm sigma vs a7c+ kit lens. Which is better
I would choose the zv-e10 and sigma 16 over the kit. it you can use the 16 with the A7C top - it just shoots in apsc mode.
Catalyst issue is decrease the quality and sharpness of the video after stabilised.

crazy comparisons!
hahs thank you! I do have a question. Im thinking in one of those cameras to use in big drones. That means movement and high vibration context and that means jello because of the sensor read speeds etc. Do you think the a7c will behave significantly better? The low weight of the zve10 was very attractive for flying it, (as well as the price). Thank you!!!
athe A7C has less rolling shutter. Both will benefit from shooting in 1080 though if you really want to eliminate rolling shutter,
Any difference if you put the 24GM on ZV instead?
It changes the crop to 35 full frame - so it wasn't great for the comparison vid - but I use it all the time on the channel - looks great - similar to the 16mm sigma, but a tighter focal length

Thanks Mark!
What a WEIRDOO. I love it lol. 🤣😂😍
*Yeah I'm getting the A7C to replace my a6400 but I'll be keeping My ZV-1 but I'll be keeping my Sigma Lens the 16mm of course*
You always make it so easy to understand! Thank you! 😎👍🏻
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis so the sony A7C is the way to go if i wanted to color grade more ?
I just went for an A6100 for $600 with minimal use cuz I did a fair amount of research and see that it's a really good alternative from ZV-E10 (plus EVF) cuz of shortage. I also don't really need the weather seal, stabilization and some other features that the A7C has cuz I'm mostly gonna use it indoors and used it for A and B-Rolls for my videos on a tripod and slider. ^^
This is a great alternative - it can work extremely well for a lot of people. Trying to do a vid on it
@@MarkBennettCameraCrisis ooooo nice! Am looking forward to see that video and your thoughts about it! Think the only con from what I've seen is that the screen flips upwards rather than on the side so it can interfere with the mic but I think you can solve that by investing a cage for the camera.
