      There are instances where the ZV-E10 II surpasses the Alpha camera in color reproduction. However, the Alpha has advantages such as an electronic viewfinder (EVF), superior build quality, a mechanical shutter, in-body image stabilization (IBIS), and additional features that make it a more compelling option compared to the Mark II. Judging solely by the footage from each camera, choosing between them can be challenging. The ZV-E10 Mark II likely offers better color due to its newer technology and Sony's continuously improving color science. For instance, consider how the sky appears in footage from the ZV-E10 versus the Alpha.
      P.S. I bought the original ZV-E10 based on your recommendation, but I wish I had waited for the Mark II or the Alpha 6700.

      Two things. I've been shooting on the original ZV-E10 for 2+ years and I've noticed it has a slight tendency towards lighter colors and also to slightly overexpose in auto-modes - my suspicion is that this is a tweak to make faces look more social-media-pleasant on auto. Also I knew the new ZV had a slight crop in 4k60. So it was just a matter of noting the lighter-colored/more right-exposed footage - wherever there is such a difference - is on the same side as the footage that look slightly more zoomed in - again wherever there is a difference :)

      A useful video with concise presentation of the information. I did have to skip a few minutes at the beginning where the talk was about what we will talk about. Occasional but not attention numbing repetition. Viewers can of course always just repeat a video to hear everything again if the info is dense and fast paced.

      I don’t see any significant difference from the 7:41 of the ultimate viewer. I can’t imagine anyone caring. I need the EVF so that is the deciding factor for me. Otherwise, I think the cheaper option is probably reasonable.

    Another amazing comparison. I sold the ZV E10 M1 and have the a6700. Love it, but always hungry for more I picked up a ZV E1. First full frame camera and so far impressed. But, a6700 with the Sony 11 1.8 is much lighter, much wider with minimal quality difference.

      I agree that the a6700 with the Sony 11 1.8 is a fantastic combination for portability and image quality. Have you tried using the a6700 with zoom lens like the Sigma 18-50 f2.8? It might offer an even more dramatic perspective for your videos.

    I couldn't tell, honestly but I"m glad I got the A6700 because now I don't have to deal with that crop. Even with the 11mm F/1.8 anything more than the 13% crop for active stab is too tight for me. The stab is good enough to not have to use Catalyst in most situations for me. I'm primarily a vlogger. Also, with weather sealing I'm not paranoid as much about a drop of rain ruining my investment. One other thing: S-Log3 is a game changer. It offers so much more flexibility in post. It honestly reminds me of the flexibility shooting in RAW provides. You can't completely fix bad white balance or exposure, but you have a lot more room to work with in S-Log3. At least in my experience. Plus, the added dynamic range is awesome.

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hey there,
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the ZV-E10 II and a6700!. It's great to hear your perspective.
      Both cameras have their own strengths and weaknesses. The a6700 is a powerhouse with its EVF, great stabilization, and ability to shoot 4K at 120fps. It's also weather-sealed, which is a big deal for outdoor shooting.
      On the other hand, the ZV-E10 II is more lightweight and portable, and it has a built-in 3 directional microphone, which can be handy for quick and easy recordings.
      Ultimately, the best camera for you depends on your specific needs. If you prioritize photography, stability, and flexibility, the a6700 might be the way to go. But if you're looking for something more portable and convenient, the ZV-E10 II could be a great option.
      Let me know if you have any questions.

    • @nyohaku
      @nyohaku 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Coming from the zv E10, the EVF and the better dynamic range would make the a6700 the logical upgrade for me since I’m doing less video this year. But that jump is approximately $500; kinda steep.

    • @TimBrownTown
      @TimBrownTown 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nyohaku I couldn't deal with still having the 40% crop on the stab, but if you don't mind it then the E10 II might be the choice. If you don't need a viewfinder now, you probably won't use it much. The new screen seems much easier to see when it's sunny and I believe it's the same one on the new E10. Dynamic range should be similar if you use S-log3. I do use the extra custom buttons to help my S-Log3 workflow. Mostly for me, the $500 was worth it for the IBIS and much smaller crop in active stab. The way I look at it is that 40% crop on the sensor essentially makes it a 1" sensor.

    • @nyohaku
      @nyohaku 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@TimBrownTown Thanks for the feedback. I am only producing video (tripod-studio) 10% of the time this year, so the a6700 is looking good for stills. My zVe10 mk1 screen seems to be similar to the iPhone 15 Pro Max with brightness turned down by 1/3. The phone has a screen twice as big as well. As a non-pro landscape/architecture shooter, I’m looking for better skies and deep shadow detail without a lot of post production finesse. All three cameras, used correctly, blow cell phones away.

    I'm not a professional photographer/videographer but as someone who is always obsessed with quality of photos/videos, I identified the A6700 right away in the intro. Money is only my issue in choosing since the price difference is quite big and I'm not a fan of EVF. But I do want that 4k120fps.

  • @Armin2208
    @Armin2208 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    It's always funny to see that the Alpha 6700 is recommended more for Vlogging, although the ZV-E10 is marketed as vlogging camera. Because the missing IBIS really kills the ZV lineup (except the awesome ZV-E1). That's possible a compromise for the low weight, but I really prefer having 100 grams more instead of having this bad crop and choppy stabilization.
    Thats why i ordered today a Alpha 6700 to replace my ZV-E10. The first one. I love it, but i really want to have 4k60 and IBIS. Also i love all the new advantages of the current Sony Software.
    Currently in germany there is a cashback promotion for students. That's why the Alpha 6700 costs 1050€, and the ZV-E10 II 950€. If you ask me, this is a nobrainer for students.
    But I am sad of the missing cool microphone at the alpha 6700. ZV-E10 II with Ibis or Alpha 6700 with a ZV mic would be nearly perfect.

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thank you for your insightful comment. It's great to hear your perspective on the ZV-E10 II vs. the a6700 for vlogging.
      I understand your preference for IBIS and 4K60. It's true that these features can significantly enhance video quality, especially for vlogging. The Alpha 6700's combination of IBIS and 4K60 capabilities makes it a strong contender
      While the ZV-E10 II might not have IBIS, it offers other advantages, such as its lightweight design and dedicated vlogging features like the flip-up screen and built-in microphone. These features can be valuable for those who prioritize portability and convenience. Thats one of my favorite features.
      I agree that a built-in microphone can be a convenient feature. However, you can always add an external microphone to the Alpha 6700 to achieve the desired audio quality.
      "ltimately, the best choice between the ZV-E10 II and the a6700 depends on your specific needs and priorities. If IBIS and 4K120 are essential for your vlogging projects, the Alpha 6700 might be the better option. However, if portability and convenience are more important, the ZV-E10 II could be a great fit.

      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much for your kind words and for enjoying my videos. I'm excited to hear that you'll be taking my ZV-E10 II course soon.
      Regarding the internal microphone performance, I've found that the ZV-E10 Mk2's built-in microphone is quite capable for most casual vlogging and content creation. It offers good clarity and directionality, making it suitable for capturing audio in various environments. However, if you're looking for professional-grade audio or need to record in particularly noisy settings, an external microphone can significantly enhance your sound quality.
      As for recommendations for external microphones, I'd suggest considering a shotgun microphone like the Rode VideoMic Pro+ or EKMm2 like you mentioned. They're also relatively compact and easy to use, making them a popular choice for vloggers and content creators.
      Ultimately, the best external microphone for you will depend on your specific needs and budget. I recommend doing some research and perhaps even testing out a few options to find the one that suits you best. You can rant these as well from Lensrentals.
      Let me know what you land on as far as mics go.

    Great content and comparison...I'm currently in the market for a "first" camera and I feel like the lack of mechanical shutter on the ZVE10 ii is pushing me either to go ZVE10 original with some nicer glass on the end of it or spend the coin for an A6700. I could tell the difference between the two in video but it can be very subtle at times which is a testament to the Mark ii.

    And here we are again. I'm waiting for your comparison of A6700 vs ZVE-10 MK II. As expected, ZVE10 MK II has no EVF, crop at 4k 60fps already, no 120FPS at 4K, no IBS, and NO front dial. While the A6700 has it all, the downside is that 4k 120fps has a small crop and overhead at 4k if you shoot longer footage. But I have a solution use Ulanzi Fan version 2. I have owned the A6700 with my lens Tamron 17-70mm for months I shot many photos in different situations. Last time I took many pictures outside with the sun, and I used EVF every time because of the sun's reflection I couldn't see the display. It's really handy to get a closer look another solution is, that you can connect your phone with the creator's app to the camera and voila you have a bigger Display with the Smallrig mount case. I am very surprised how useful this camera is and I must say as a beginner EVF is a must if you are reliable in some situations for taking pictures. For videos both cameras are good has the same sensors but it depends on what you want to require for your own needs. For beginner content creators ZV-E10 MK II is quite decent and easy to use for inside and outside videos another solution to avoid active stabilization is a better lens like the Tamron 17-70mm which has a stabilizer. If you want to make videos and photos I recommend the A6700 it has it all also a good start-up for a beginner Photographer.

    I waited for the ZV-E10 II and agonized over it, but in the end I bought the A6700 to replace my original ZV-E10. The mark 2 felt like a bare minimum for what I needed in an upgrade, for a fairly hefty price increase, whereas it felt like I can pay a little more for the A6700 and also get all the "nice to haves". Another big factor that ultimately swayed me is that I made heavy use of active stab on the original ZV, and one day it hit me that having bought an APSC camera I'm shooting a hefty proportion of my footage with a sensor area smaller than a MFT. So I kind of thought enough is enough, I want that ibis!
    I do wish the A6700 was even slightly smaller though. It's noticeably the biggest camera even in the a6000 line

      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for sharing your experience with how you made your decision on the a6700. It's great to hear that the a6700's additional features and IBIS were decisive factors in your decision.
      I'm curious to know if you've noticed any significant differences in image quality or low-light performance between the two cameras. Additionally, how has the IBIS been performing in your real-world shooting scenarios?
      Thanks in advance

    • @Jasonmoofang
      @Jasonmoofang 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thefilmalliance I feel like I'm still a couple months away from being able to answer those questions properly, but right now no, image quality and lowlight don't look immediately noticeably different to me (except the part where I shoot 60p a lot and 4k60 availability is a huge step up).
      IBIS has been awesome for use with non-stabilized lenses, and the IBIS-enhanced active stab with the way smaller crop has also been great, although I do also feel like the ZV-E10ii's active stab looks more stable (in your test footage as well). Still, I can add warp stabilization in post to the A6700's active-stab footage and the resulting crop would still be less than the active-stab on even the ZV mark 2, so for now I'm still thinking the A6700 is probably the overall better tradeoff.

    It looks like ibis is important only for photos in a6700. For video I don't think even active stabilization is smooth. Zve10 mark 2 blew the a6700 out of the water in stabilization.(Kind of sad for a a6700 user like me.) BUT, Because zve 10 mark 2 has only electronic shutter, that factor alone is a deal breaker for me. Most people invest in their cameras and lenses for both photos and videos. And correct me if I'm wrong but mechanical shutter is really important for even a hobbyst. (No one wants bandings or some flickers in their photos.)
    P.S. I don't see many people complaining about this electronic shutter only. Am I missing something ?

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hi Karl, Thank you for your insightful observations. It's great to hear your thoughts on the ZV-E10 II's and a6700's stabilization and shutter systems.
      Regarding stabilization: While the a6700's IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) might not be as effective for video as the ZV-E10 II's active stabilization, it can still make a noticeable difference in certain shooting conditions. The combination of IBIS and lens stabilization can help reduce camera shake, especially for photos.
      Concerning the electronic shutter: It's true that the ZV-E10 II's reliance on an electronic shutter can be a limitation for some users, especially those who prioritize mechanical shutter for photography. Mechanical shutters can help avoid banding and flickering, which can be more noticeable in certain lighting conditions.
      It's possible that many users have adapted to the electronic shutter on the ZV-E10 II or haven't encountered significant issues with banding or flickering. Additionally, some users might prioritize other features, such as image quality or video capabilities, over a mechanical shutter.
      Ultimately, the best choice between the ZV-E10 II and a6700 depends on your specific needs and priorities. If you require a mechanical shutter for photography and are willing to sacrifice some video stabilization, the a6700 might be a better fit. However, if you prioritize video stabilization and are willing to accept the limitations of an electronic shutter, the ZV-E10 II could be a great option.
      Does that make sense?

    • @kralmidas
      @kralmidas 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@thefilmalliance Yes. I guess it may not be that big of a deal not to have a mechanical shutter for some people. Maybe because they(probably content creators mostly) prioritize video over photos. After all, zve-1 doesn't have mechanical shutter either but it's in the market.

      If you're mainly interested in capturing memories for your trips and don't need all the bells and whistles of a full-fledged camera, the Osmo Pocket 3 or Insta360 4X might be a better fit. However, if you think you might want to explore more advanced video techniques or upgrade to a more serious camera setup in the future, the ZV E10 II could be a worthwhile investment.

    I got the Sony ZVE10 II. The main reason is the size. I have a Nikon D7200 and its huge so I typically end up just using my phone (Samsung S21 Ultra). I also have some waterproof Olympus cameras and I have Sony AX100 Video camera, so I was looking for something small to do both film and video. I just got this camera so still have to try it out. Most cameras suck at video except the camcorder, so I got this because it looks like it will do good video and pictures hopefully better than a phone and small enough that I should be able to just take it most places easily, I wish it would fit into my pocket but what can you do, I didn't want to go down too much. Why can’t Sony Canon and Fuji give us one un-crippled APSC camera instead of several models lacking important features: stacked sensor, mechanical and electronic shutter, dual card slots, effective IBIS, EVF with good resolution, Ai AF, 4K 120 & 60 without cropping, vertical shooting and the other little cool video features everybody wants?

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your insightful comment. I agree that it can be frustrating to navigate the current landscape of APS-C cameras, where many models seem to compromise on certain features.
      While I understand where you’re coming from wanting a single, all-encompassing camera, it's important to note that different content creators have varying needs. The ZV-E10 II and a6700, for example, each cater to specific audiences. The ZV-E10 II is designed with content creators in mind, offering a lot of great features for a fraction of the price. The a6700, on the other hand, is geared more towards hybrid shooters and professionals who need that EVF and 4K 120.
      As the market continues to evolve, we can hope to see more cameras that address these limitations and offer a wider range of features to suit different shooting styles. In the meantime, it's worth considering whether the ZV-E10 II or a6700, despite their limitations, align with your specific photography or videography goals. Does that make sense?

      Some of these things aren't necessary for apsc. Like dual memory recording. It's pretty rare a SD card dies while shooting. And having two SD card slots and full HDMI port, like some people want, would increase the body. Actually aps-c strength is compact size and cost effectnis. People who has such high needs will probably buy a full frame.
      But sure, the A6700 could have some more nifty perks to be more of an ultimate camera.
      Also at the more cheap Sony full frame lineup, there is also no all in one camera. ZV-E1 awesome stabilization, awesome 4k60, but no mechanical shutter. No evf.
      Alpha 7 IV has mechanical shutter and evf, but not the better stabilization, not the great microphone, 4k60 only with a big crop.
      So you need to decide. Or spending double the money to not having to decide.

    Greetings from Mexico I want to start a YT channel in the entertainment niche, I don't want to finish my capital in the best camera but I do want to have quality in my videos, sometimes I will record in the studio, sometimes in the green area and sometimes in my apartment, the idea is to record with a camera in hand mounted on a tripod, which camera do you think suits me best?

    Zv e10 II is way overpriced.

    • @thefilmalliance
      @thefilmalliance  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your feedback on the ZV-E10 II and a6700. It's interesting to hear your perspective on the pricing.
      While the ZV-E10 II does not offer several features like an electronic viewfinder, mechanical shutter, 4K slow motion, and bulb mode, it's important to consider the overall value proposition. Thes excellent image quality and video capabilities, make it a compelling option for many users especially beginners IMO.
      However, I understand that pricing is a significant factor for many consumers. It's always a good idea to compare prices across different retailers and consider any available discounts or promotions. Additionally, you might want to evaluate the long-term value of the camera based on your specific needs and usage patterns.
      Well at least thats how I think about it.

    don't want to be that guy. but the security guards where in the wrong, everything you can see while on public property you can legally record(besides inside homes, but I'm assuming you weren't filming thought somebody's windows). if you where standing on side walk they can't tell you to stop recording cause you have all the rights to do so. Big L on them. they need to be trained better!
