    Just imagine the number of cameras that these companies sell. It seems they purposely never get one camera exactly right, so customers/photographers buy numerous cameras, which is great for the profit margins of the manufacturer.

    Great video. I agree with you about HLG3 as well. It gives the best colors in most settings but I'm curious if you also use it in lowlight as well. I find that Cine2 works better in lowlight primarily because I find I have to overexpose a bit with HLG3 and the ISO goes up really high.

  • @mawavoy

    My initial thoughts on this review is that it is spot on. Thanks for the workaround tips! I purchased the camera based on price to see if I like the Sony system and help me decide on APSC V Full Frame. The idea is I would not have to sell my lenses if I mice’s to Full Frame. Fuji Film does not offer Full Frame so any APSC Lenses would be useless in a move to Full Frame. Because the camera lacks a viewfinder, I don’t have the confidence I am getting the best focus possible when using the screen and focus peeking in manual mode (required for using vintage lenses. Also, recording on 8 bit color depth is limiting. Thanks again. At its price point it is a very nice camera for photography.

    • @xuchenglin6256
      @xuchenglin6256 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unless you buy Full Frame lenses from the very beginning for an APS-C camera body (which is crazy, the biggest advantage of APS-C is the much cheaper lenses), you can't use your APS-C lenses on FF. Yes you can, but then you get the same FOV and same effective pixels just like an APS-C (APS-C lenses can only cover part of the FF sensor, about the size of APS-C), it basically turns your expensive FF body into APS-C. So what's the point? That doesn't make sense. The APS-C camera body only costs a fraction of the FF body, one doesn't affect another. If you want FF, just keep the APS-C unless your budget is really tight. But if this is the case, probably you should never bother with FF. The FF lens price is steep, and the film/videography industry standards is "small" sensors, about APS-C size. You don't see FF in cinema cameras like the RED or Alexa. Theater Movies are shot actually using APS-C sized sensors. So if you care about video there's completely no advantage to go with FF. Just see how many people using the A7R series shooting in APS-C crop mode for better quality. IF you care price then the playability is much more higher in APS-C, because for the same amount of money you can get your hands on much more different lenses if that's your thing. FF only shines IMO in the High Resolutions. If you go FF, either go with 61MP a7r4 r5 or 42MP r3 r2. It's mind-blowing once you used to it and you will never coming back. (although the price is steep, especially for the lenses, unless you only want one, and from my experience one is fine and still very enjoyable, you just missed the play-with-lenses part, but that's not a bad thing at all, it forces you to focus on your photo rather than gears.)

    Great Vid. You've gained a new sub, quick question though.
    I'm looking into purchasing a camera (never had one prior), but I've been recording with my iPhone 13 Pro Max.
    My content is heavily sport related ie. Basketball & Football where there is a lot of high speed action.
    my main focus when recording is being able to capture slo mo in basketball (and I've recently learned 60fps is the minimum frame rate required to do this, which luckily my phone is very capable of doing, but from other reviews I've learned that this can record up to 120fps but limited to 1080p).
    I don't have a camera man, so I mostly just place my camera (phone) on a tripod to record, and zoom in when editing.
    Given all this, would you recommend this camera to someone like myself (my budget is £850), a beginner with no prior experience in videography with a camera.

    - The sensor is the same as in the A6400, so it's from 2019. It's definitely better than the sensor in my A77ii, which actually is from 2014.
    - You can also delete the folders that you don't need in Windows Explorer and not format the SD card. Keeps the settings as well.
    - One other annoying thing is that, apart from the lack of back button focusing options, it is not possible to assign the AF Tracking option to the shutter button. You can only assign AF On to the shutter button, so you have to use the C1 button for focusing/tracking/following and the shutter button to make a photo. Doesn't make any sense

    The ZV E-10 to me is a camera to both love and hate, at the same time.
    Regarding viewing of LCD with (polarised!) sunglasses:
    Yes, you can't by default in landscape orientation; Sony failed it in this category both for the A7 III, ZV-1, and A7C. All the other models' screens don't have this issue.
    The fix is easy: just buy any screen protector, and you will be able to see it through polarised sunglasses.
    Bad:
    No 4k60p, no 10bit 4:2:2, old Sony non-touch menus, no EVF (its a vlog camera, but would have been nice), mediocre build quality, no weather sealing, no front dial, no joystick - understandable, but the Canon R10 ups the game, small battery, small grip
    Great:
    Zoom rocker, separate (and nice feeling) on-off switch, Tiny and light, Unlimited video, good screen, good conectivity (flash mount, mic + headphones), excellent video quality (in 4k, 8bit), LOG, button customisation level, tally light, active stab., gyro stab., excellent autofocus & tracking (in photo and video), good max photo framerate, good color science

      Shouldn't be expecting 4k 60 4:2:2 10bit in a 700$ camera from sony 😂. The closest u can get to those types of inbody recording is from gh5 mkii . The closest camera i could found that can output 4:2:2 10bit 4k (& dci). Is the fuji x-e4 at 850$ but to get that u need to spend extra on an external hdmi recorder cus the inbody recording is only 4:2:0 , uhd 30fps 8bit. And the only camera matching with your demand is the panasonic lumix gh5 mark ii . It does 4k (dci) 4:2:2 10bit 60fps recording internally!. At 400mbps that is.

      Bad: No "auto iso min ss" settings anymore (where you can apply the auto ISO setting to a fixed minimum shutter speed). I used it all the time on my A6400, no idea why they threw it out of the window. I have the camera for testing a few weeks and this might be the reason i return it.
      Also the display gives me a very reddish tint, especially when pointed at the blue sky with white clouds. The clouds appear to be almost pink. Annoying af.

    Excellent review. I bought it as B camera (I mainly use the A7IV) and I'm happy with it. I used to have the A6300 in the past and now I decided to get another Sony APSC. The pros and cons are exactly the ones you mentioned and I agree that it can't be considered as a VLog camera. Anyways, considering the very good price I can say that it's a best buy and a very, very useful camera. I've just shot an episode of my TH-cam channel and used A7IV and ZV E10 both in HLG and they matched very well!

    All the features you mention as missing on this camera are already on the A6400 and other Sony cameras. For this price point, you are being a bit unreasonable. This camera is wonderful for what it is. It's inexpensive, produces great video and photos, and is easy to use especially for beginners. If you want pro features, don't choose this camera.

    • @switchunboxing
      @switchunboxing ปีที่แล้ว +39

      It’s not really unreasonable to describe the issues of the camera. For someone like me who doesn’t even know what an A6400 it’s informative and good to know reasons I may want to invest more to get some added benefits. He said it was a good camera at the price.

    • @JoeCastellon
      @JoeCastellon ปีที่แล้ว +32

      So if he didn't mention the drawbacks, he's "sponsored" by Sony, but if he does, he's unreasonable? He mentions all the drawbacks so that other people can make a more informed decision. 🤷🏻‍♂ Having laid out everything, both good and bad, the "unreasonable" person is the one who skips this one based on the drawbacks. And yet, maybe they're still not "unreasonable" if they're willing to spend a bit more for the missing features.

      @Eyes Green the kit lens is a good lens. At the 15mm side it is great for vlogging. It is not the best for low light situations because its only a f3.5 at 15mm but it absolutely is a more than usable lens. I have several different lens and if I am going out real quick and do not want to carry much, its my goto lens. If you are going to vlog I would highly recommend getting a variable ND filter.

    Hey Dave, I`m about to start this as a hobby, and I literally watched almost every video on ZVE 10 vs a6400 on TH-cam. All they say is same sensor same quality, difference in built quality and missing EVF. If you put for example Sigma 30 m f1.4 on both and use same settings and do street photography, do both cameras give identical pictures ? But all those "cinematic"videos and POV street photography with the same lens on both cameras I watched on TH-cam, a6400 looks to have better quality, sharpness and cinematic footage. ZVE 10 photos and cinematic videos just look not as sharp as a6400. Do you think it`s those creator`s lack of skill not to upload ZVE 10 videos as good on TH-cam or is a 6400 really better quality of picture and video. I`m about to buy either of this, and I really want a profesional answer. Thank you )

    What’s the best camera and lens for doing product videos? My videos are just my hands holding the product and my current issue with iPhone 13 Pro is nothing will stay in focus. This means I have to end up recording a shot 5 times. My current video is nearly 5 hours of footage that I’ve been editing for a month and will painstakingly turn into an 8 min video. I think I need to change my gear. I’m hoping product mode will be a game changer but idk. When I get a good iPhone shot it’s excellent
