I have the same problem. My brother and I took the jack apart. The worm gear and carrier nut were trashed. The ball bearings were completely dry and had been deformed. This is a manufacturing problem. If you have these jacks, replace them now before they go bad. By the way, I've been quoted $3,500 to replace the system and of course they failed outside of the warranty period.

quick question. After putting new batteries in my atwood remote, everything works fine. after a week to 2 weeks I have to put a new battery in the remote in order for it to work again. Is it possible the remote is running the batteries down somehow? Thanks in advance for your help

One thing you don't hear discussed much--and don't hold your breath that this will change, is that nearly all these rigs are dangerously overloaded. Even a 3/4 ton or full ton. Campers weight a sh load, way, way over the carrying capacity of the truck. Do the math, it isn't hard, a 1/2 can carry??? One half TON, though sometimes a bit more, like my Toyota that can carry 1340 pounds--but do you realize how fast you can go past that mark, even with the lightest shell (aluminum at 700 pounds). Two people (300 pounds) then you only can carry 340 pounds more, then you are over loaded. 3/4 ton, same thing and you go over very fast--3 or 4 guys, rigs that are way more than just a shell. Get the weights, I'll bet you are way over, as I said, don't count on these "pros" talking about it, other than to lie to you at dealers and tell you "it doesn't matter", when it does

Jmichael Isbell payload listed usually includes the driver and passenger before the listed weight. But agree they are overloaded for payload. People think just because they add airbags they think that increases payload. But it's not true. The only camper I could put on my 1/2 ton rated at 1700lbs is a 4wheel pop up camper, which are as basic as they come.

@@billydarley6925 did you pull the trigger? I did get an f250 and put a lance camper on it. I'm overweight for sure. I have over 3k miles with the setup and the truck hauls it with no problem. Not sure of long term effects but even getting decent gas mileage. Had to put airbags to fix the squat though. I'll say though, clearance is very tight at the tailgate side. Also learned rubber mats under the camper are critical.

@@anjwicks i ended up reevaluating my needs and decided thru much research i can make due with something smaller and more fuel efficient. bought it for $1600, sold it for $4200. i did learn that trucks axle was rated somewhere around 5k some trucks depending on the model can be 6k. the 1/2 ton -1 ton designation isnt actual weight like it started out. its now just a classification. my truck could handle supposedly 3k maybe 4k in the bed, safely. obviously less is better. i once had a load of wet cottonwood logs in the bed clear up to the back window. each log took two ppl to lift and they stuck out past the tailgate. drove home super cautiously lol. the truck only mildly squatted. could have stacked more but i was tired and already had logs poised to punch thru the back window. point is. that was easily as much weight or more than any overhead camper and it certainly didnt appear overloaded at all. figured out 50psi in 10ply tires left them a lil soft for those loads but not too bad. i plan to get something with around 7k lbs towing capacity. truck or suv 4x4 awd. still lookin.
