    Made it look easy. Might make one myself. All it needs is a shelf underneath it.

    Great table dude, weld a metal tab at the bottom of the table under the frame perhaps, so you earth clamp can clamp onto it and it doesn’t get in your way when welding! Go hard bro!

    Sick video bro, you've inspired me!, I set my shed up about 3½ years ago it fairly functional but getting old, I might make some new additions and switch it up a bit. Great content!.🤙🇦🇺

    Should make the bottom a shelf, good spot for welding accessories/consumables

  • @lwwelding8466

    When Tacking the slats in you should have staggered them, ie one on the left then one on the right. Whilst using a spacer is nice, easy and quicker its just moving the heat from one to the next to the next which causes the bowing more. Great video though. Remember people that a clean workshop is a happy workshop. Finish welding an hour before you plan to leave then use that hour to clean up, while your doing that your around for any fires that may start. Extra bonus you walk into a nice tidy workshop in the morning.

    I'm nearly finished building my own first welding table with my first welder (TIG), came up with a very similar design except used 10x100mm flat bar for the top and spaced them far enough apart to fit my clamps in. Cost was around the same plus some heavy duty castors.

  • @jawracing911

    Fab/Welding table is a must. I invested in one and love it! Gotta remain disciplined to make sure you keep it tidy and surface clean. 👍🏼

    Literally just made a welding table in the same fashion last weekend. I even made the same assumption that I could put a straight-edge off the first one and align the slats that way. Realised half way through that unless my cuts were perfectly 90deg I'd be off, and I was! Went to measuring them off the frame after that. One small difference, I welded the slats to the frame on the "outside" edges (ie. not the edges facing other slats). This way the welds are fully accessible if a slat gets bent or damaged and I need to grind the welds off to replace the slat. Also, definitely grab a "paint and rust stripper abrasive disk" from Bunnings (or wherever). They eat through paint. I got the paint off the top of the slats in about five minutes with one.

      Oh dude that’s mint!! The table would definitely help in that situation!

  • @harrybottmtb8947

    For future, to strip the paint off the metal instead of a sander use a paint stripping wheel for a grinder, I knocked out 27 slats at 800mm for my table in about 30 minutes and that was for the whole top surface

    • @nathan100tz
      @nathan100tz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The blue paint is designed to be welded through anyway, I don't bother cleaning it off if MIG. For the surface of the table however, those strip disks are mint.

    Oh, and keep an eye out on marketplace or gumtree for a 2nd hand horizontal band saw. I sold my hot saw like yours and picked up a 7 inch bandsaw for about 1/4 of new price. It cuts easier and better and more accurately and WAY WAY quieter, and you can chuck 5 lumps in and walk away!

    It’s 100% bowed from all those hot tacks on top not the sun, doesn’t take much welding to shift steel. Oh and blue bar is weld through, don’t have to strip paint. Also RHS has a seam, should always hide the seam instead of some seams facing up, and should probably have some triangles in there. All meant as constructive criticism ❤️

    • @RoamLyfe
      @RoamLyfe  2 ปีที่แล้ว
