    I was in a fight the other day and suffered a broken nose and still knocked the dude out minutes after I suffered broken hands and a broken nose. It was third round knockout from a knee.
    It's UFC 3 you should try that game sometime

      True. Or someone like me. I had a pretty bad 'quarter life crisis'. I was unhappy because I tended to avoid problems rather than face problems. A friend of mine (who happened to major psychology) mentioned 'boxing for therapy'. Glad I took boxing class. It helps me to have the 'face it head on' mentality.

      You can't become an able fighter just by looking at fake punches. This is just 1 small step of martial arts training to prepare for sparring. Training with sparring is what allows people to stand up for themselves.

    Cheers mate, I'm black belt and still scared of punches. When I was younger I competed in a lot of tournaments and came first with ease as I would not get hit but after lockdown (I'm now 14) I joined tournaments again and would get hit in the face and lost a lot of my tournaments because I was scared to get hit. I'll do these techniques and hopefully overcome my fear

      I've had a black eye before, but that shit was a joke compared to when I scratched my cornea. NEVER get a scratched cornea, it's the most torturous pain and it's constant, lasting a good week at most. Always be very aware, alert and careful when touching your face! If you do happen to get one, keep your eye moist, and it will heal much quicker, wish I've known that a couple years ago. Also, do wear an eye patch and tape the eye shut when going to bed at night. Without taping the eye shut, when you wake up first thing in the morning and open your eye, you'll feel extreme pain, so keep it shut during bed time. That shit was a bitch and I'm careful to this day. lol The only type of pain worse is tooth pain. FUCK tooth pain. I'd rather break a bunch of my ribs or get beat up, or both.

    Good techniques for conditioning. I will give the gloves to my wife and she can throw punches at me as she is the scariest person i know. I would rather not get hit in the face but it is inevitable. I just except the fact that if i want to train and/ or fight, i must throw punches and take them too. Before i go into a sparing match i take a moment for some mental preparation and face the reality that i will get hurt at some point by someone either slightly or badly depending on who is in front of me and the goal of the sparing. Then just step forward, get involved and learn. For me i have found that getting punched in the face only gets easier with the exceptence that it will happen if you put the gloves on and step in to the situation. But saying all of that exceptence won't stop a good punch from hurting.

    • @MMACoach79
      @MMACoach79  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You shouldn't spar with people that want to hurt you or knock you out. Only with the ones that can control themselves. Save the knockouts for the octagon or the ring.

    • @jimijames213
      @jimijames213 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      MMA Coach sorry i think i might have explained myself wrong. Everyone at the gym is respectful and full of sportsmanship. We are like a family. We don't want to hurt each other. But sometimes it happens. We push eachother to do better. We don't try and dominate each other with our egos. My apologies for giving the wrong impression. And i hope i have caused no harm.

    You're afraid of getting hit because you dont have the skills to block yet. When you know what to do, you will not fear anything. You shouldn't learn to "tough up", you should focus on mastering the skills of slipping and blocking the punches.
    You should not have the mindset of, "this guy can't knock me out, because my head is too hard and I'm used to getting punched."
    You SHOULD have the mindset of, "this guy can't knock me out, because my skills are good enough to avoid getting hit."

    • @bjjmmafighter5339
      @bjjmmafighter5339 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chill dude. The message was not applied to you. In the gyms I've been to, it seems like young upcoming fighters without much experience are taking a lot of shots without even trying to avoid them, and I believe they want to let people know that they can take them, maybe they look up to Justin Gaethje or Nate Diaz or something. And in some gyms, they train people to take heavy shots, they make a drill where you have to stand in your guard without being allowed to hit back, while someone is hitting them with full force punches, to make them "tough". Trust me I didnt make this comment to YOU, it was just an extra advice. I hate the fact that young fighters dont try to avoid getting hit.

    The natural reaction of flinching when someone pretends to hit me is a problem for me. I feel I can pretty much stand ground if it goes South and a real fight breaks out or if they get close and personal in my face breaking the invisible barrier but can never avoid the flinching. This seems like a good way to overcome that fear.. If you flinch at fake punch, the opponent pretty much won already.

    • @MMACoach79

    When I'm sparring with boxing gloves I feel very light on my feet and I throw a lot of punches, but as soon as I put MMA gloves on I feel very hesitant and cant let my hands go, I always end up going for a takedown.

      @@girumm47art It's from all the rubbing against your ear. Take for example wrestling, having one ear on a person creates friction. The cartilage seperates from te skin which cuts the blood supply. The blood then comes in between the skin and the cartilage and creates the cauliflower. Note that it takes around a week to harden, you can still drain it in the meantime but it will never look the same.
