Just did this on my 2013 4Runner. One tip is to recline the seat before disconnecting any cables. Much easier to work on & it came out great!

I’m doing this now on my wife’s GX….same issues, I must have the same seat cover. Looks like I’ll be getting a fabric punch and some new clips too..
My pad is toast, side bolster has some gashes out of it. Do the aftermarket cushions last? OEM is near $300 and I never felt they were comfortable to begin with…

I'm doing this NOW for my Suburban front seats, BUT IF I knew how difficult it all is I'd probably have left it the way it was. Complicated removing all these items, but really difficult streatching leather over the new foam seats, too.

@hawkeye garage - what kind of protectant do you recommend for a new cover? Also what type of cleaner for the old one? Is it as simple as going to auto one and looking for McGuire products? I’m new to leather/interior care, hence my I need to replace my bottoms!
I use the McGuires, its fine. If youre going to condition after cleaning (as you should) you can go pretty aggressive like simple green or scrubbing bubbles. The Super Clean I use on the channel a lot might be a little too strong, maybe water it down just a bit.

No doing this doesn’t mess with the air bags. If you had any issues from doing this it’s because you have 2 left hands and messed something up lol

What year is that car? Looks much like the seat in my '05 Tundra Limited. Also, the passenger side seat cover is very difficult to find. Lots of driver side out there.

Was this oem or aftermarket I’ve seen many for $30-40
aftermarket leather, the cheaper ones are vinyl and apparently only last about a year.
Have you ever replaced the top part? I replaced my bottom thats was easy.
Not on the 470, but Ive done plenty of other, same deal.

Technically no, but anytime you’re messing with electrical plugs you “should”
@@HawkeyeSkunkWorks As you know, there are electrical plugs under the seat. Many have mentioned that you need to do that due to the air bag.
I've done a lot of research regarding aftermarket seat cover and I've found the company that replicates to exact OEM specs. It costs a bit more than others but it will give you less of headache.

@@yubemful I’m really curious what company you found. I did a bit of googling before I pulled the trigger on mine. I ended up with upper tier eBay bottom seat covers and seat shop arm rests. I can definitely tell the seat shop leather is much better than EBay (go figure). I wish seat shop had back seat covers. If you could share the shops you found, that would be greatly appreciated!!

Lexus should just give higher quality leather from the factory. I have had a few Lexus and the leather just falls apart rips tears etc. Junk!
For whatever reason all Japanese car leather is not great. And I means it’s 15 years old….
