      Great vid. On my 06 ES 330, when I took the green heating pad off, I noticed it was connected to cushion with tiny red plastic connectors that were "H" shaped. Much like the the plastic that used to connect price tags to clothes, except these were much smaller in diameter, almost thread like. I can tell they were fastened with some sort of gun. I had to cut them to remove cushion as I replaced the cushion, can you tell me how to affix the heater pad back to the cushion so that it will be tight and wrinkle-free? thanks

    Thanks for the this detailed video. From my experience with my 2004 GS300 - YOU MUST MUST MUST REMOVE THE SEAT FROM THE CAR. First, take the headrest off of the seat, disconnect everything attached as shown in this video and then take the seat out to work on it elsewhere. There are a TON of hog rings that hold the seat cover to the padded frame beneath. Leave a lots of time to work on things because all those hog rings are a BITCH to get properly attached again!!! Other than that its laborious but rather simple overall.

    Thanks for the guide, only issue I encountered was that one of the screws for the large plastic trim on the around the bottom of the seat could only be removed with a very tiny right angle adapter which I didn't have so the large trim was left hanging on during the removal and installation process. I think it was slightly different for me since I have a GS and your car looks like an IS. 😀

    This video was helpful, but and it is a big but, it is much more difficult than what the poster conveys. Especially if you have heated seats. The "mat" that is the heated coil under the cover is very delicate and moves around a lot. The "rings" he shows are part of a wire rail system that basically has to be cut in order to get the cover off and then can't easily be put back in. You will get a semi-respectable look without them, but it won't be the nice factory look. I applaud the poster again, but forewarn MOST people will get into this and then be very unhappy as it is a lot of work for a NOT professional finished product.

    I'm replacing my seat cover on my 21013 ES300H. The video has been excellent. When I removed the old cover it has three plugs coming out of it. I believe some of them are the electric seat warmer. I live in Florida and don't need this option. I'm concerned it may also be related to the seat belt alarm. Can I just leave the connections under the seat open?

    • @DIYtimeTRD
      @DIYtimeTRD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could, but I would recommend keeping it as close to original state as possible. Seats have various sensors related to safety and air bags systems. You don’t want to leave those unplugged.

    This video won't work for a 2008 Lexus ES 350 - the seat belt is attached to the seat and seat trim. There seems to be an extra screw somewhere to prevent the removal of the trim. Plus, you cannot remove the seat from the car easily, since the seat belt is attached to it. I didn't find any videos on the internet that show how to do the seat removal on an ES 350, so you're on your own.

    very good instructional video. but why you just not tear off damaged leather from sew joints and add new one and then sew it under? i do many diys too, but to reassemble seat to change cover is little bit unnecessary. if you change other seats, speak with pro sewer or watch em in work, it is possible to sew leather underneath with unvisiable joints. but who disliked this video are the guys who work in seat change service point xd.

    • @DIYtimeTRD
      @DIYtimeTRD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think you can sow it right on the seat. Unless you are pro and have the right tools. Which I’m not 😁...
      In my case the foam cushion was ripped and needed to be replaced too. And for that you absolutely have to take the seat apart.

    • @DIYtimeTRD
      @DIYtimeTRD  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plus sowing pro will charge you quite a bit for their work. I spent like $15 total.

      I found a used cover for like $6 at the local junk yard, but newer Lexus’ can be hard to find there sometimes.
      eBay is the next cheapest place.
      Brand new OEM covers are ridiculously expensive.
