Prey is such a shame. One of the GREATEST games I've ever played. You thought Bioshock had a great story? The gameplay mechanics, the atmosphere, EVERYTHING was AMAZING.
Yep. Prey is one of the few games I've completed twice in the last 10 years, and I actually completed every side quest the second time around. Moon Crash DLC also adds a lot of game for it's price, with a totally different spin.

Nah it sucked. Play Bioshock and Alien Isolation. The original Prey was supposed to be what Cyberpunk mixed with Star wars is but in space. But frickin Bethesda for some reason screwed the developers
Alpha Protocol was one of my first platinum trophies, loved that game. The dialogue system was cool as you had to make your choices in a limited time to resemble a conversation. Still hanging out for another Splinter Cell and Deus Ex lol
Terminator: Resistance is also quite overlooked. For a budget game, it is quite solid and the plot is way better than any of the newer terminator movies.
Splinter Cell Blacklist is really good and beautiful. I replayed it last month. In many missions one can play in a stealth way. Not as the old games. But still much better then Conviction. Where you were forced to play aggressively and kill. Which we who love Splinter cell don't wanna do .
Agreed. I think of Conviction as the prototype for shifting SC from slow stealth to avoid hostiles to a faster stealth where you live up to Sam's old call sign of Panther and use stealth to actively hunt your enemies. Makes it a very fun game even though I think that you can still play it old style effectively given the level designs if you choose.
Conviction was such a weird time, was also around the time Hitman Absolution came out. Both changed their series dynamics to the same fast paced kill-em-all gameplay.
I really liked Blacklist, but it's hard to believe the Sam Fisher in Blacklist is the same one from Conviction. Not just the voice actor change either. They're just written like two different people. They should've made the protagonist of Blacklist someone different, since Sam was essentially retired after Conviction and Michael Ironside was done with the series.
Ubisoft didn't replace Michael Ironside on purpose, he had health issues and they had no choice, he returned to voice Sam afterwards for the Ghost Recon cameo

Prey was technically a sequel and became a reboot. Problem with Prey was - it was an immersive sim that came as a reboot to the failed sequel to Prey 2006. Much liked action game - that next to Quake 4 and Doom 3 use the same IDTech engine - I call these 3 games: The Stencil Shadow Trilogy as they all share similar look when it comes to art and lighting. Prey 2017 on the other hand is a spiritual successor to System Shock (or Bioshock if you’re younger). Very different genre - so when 2017 came out it clashed with what people expected from a Prey game.
I was just thinking that Doom 3 and aliens versus predator were a lot alike maybe I'm wrong and just because I played alien vs predator recently through backwards compatibility on Series X and then just the other day Doom 3 on my PS5 and I just thought they looked very similar
Because of commercial decisions the developer was forced to use that name, although it refused multiple times, but actually Prey 2017 has nothing to do with the 2006 one. Prey 2006 was so ahead of its time, but also never made it to a big hit. 2017 is an excellent game, no matter where you look. I don't think it failed because of the name. It probably failed because nowadays everyone is into Battle Royale and brainless games. So if you cannot troll others, if you cannot feel like Tom Cruise in the game or if a little bit of logic and thinking or reading is required, then it won't be a hit. Most probably people who play mainstream games now, and don't play nor recognize excellent games such as Prey, Bioshock, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Alien Isolation (and many others), have no idea of what Prey 2006 is :)
Splinter Cell and Deus Ex are still two of my absolute favorite games i still play them through once in a while to this day awesome story and gameplay 😎👍

Disagree with the lack of marketing for sunset overdrive. I saw countless commercials during and after football on Sunday when it first released . Plus all the bundles it was included with. Go back and see what else released around the same time, It got overshadowed due to being unfamiliar
I played Alien Isolation very late at night after taking an edible and noped out of that game very early on. Way to high to be chased by an alien at 2am in surround sound.
I have played Titanfall 2, Alien, Deus ex, (edit) spec ops, and Blacklist! They are definitely some of the most amazing. Haven’t gotten the chance to play any other from the list.
*Mankind Divided was a big step down for me. it didn't expand the formula set by Human Revolution at all, it just had better graphics....and certain things in it were kinda hard to figure out???? idk it wasn't my cup of tea. I really just want that Deus Ex 1 SUPER REMAKE* 🙌
Sunset Ovedrive is one of the most fun i ever got playing a video game. The game is such a fun and enjoyable game to play. Gameplay, movement and shooting is sooooo freaking amazing and smooth to play.
Loved Alpha Protocol. Yes it was buggy, but there’s no other game quite like AP. Jade Empire is another terrific game that was made for original Xbox, but criminally overlooked. The game just didn’t have a huge audience. Wish remakes/remasters were in the works for both of these treasures.
All of them are excellent games in their own right. Titanfall 2 is the tightest FPS I have played in a long time. The freedom of movement was ground-breaking.
Alien Isolation can use your controller mic and PS Camera so the alien will react directly to you and your real-world stealth. That's pretty cool, really. Titanfall 2 is the only game I've ever found at Dollarama. For $4 and they had so many copies, jammed in with their bad knockoff Disney movies and sudoku books.
i dont know why u guys consider splinter cell blacklist is not exactly stealth but more combat if u want to experince complete stealth in blacklist u just have to play in perfectionist difficulty which is the highest dificulty in splinter cell blaclist and if the enimes even get a glimpse of u they will start shooting and suround u from every direction and i use more stealth armor sets then combat or defense type armor sets and u can't use dead eye which is used to mark 3 players and kill them in the game is removed or desabled in perfectionist difficulty and by far i played all splinter cell game and in my pinion blacklist is a good stealth game after conviction which was a stealth masterpiece due to it's lack of armor sets or basically everything it was the most stealth oriented game ever ty.
Played a bit of Alpha Protocol back in the day. Pretty interesting stuff. It's actually recently come to GOG, if anyone's interested. I really wanted to play Sunset Overdrive (and it's predecessor that I forgot the name to, where you play as a bald dude who can control electricity), but, as mentioned, it's a console-exclusive, so no play for me. Was pleasantly surprised by Spec Ops: The Line. I genuinely thought it'd be just another military shooter about gun-ho 'Murica saving the world from peasant militias in the middle east, but it was actually so, so, so much more! Immortals of Aveum I've only heard of a couple of times prior to its release, and that was mostly by accident. Wasn't even aware that it came out, so I'm pretty sure we can blame its flop on the bad marketing more than anything. Now compare Prey (2017) to Prey (2006).
In my personnel life and opinion the best example, it was "Shadow of Rome" from Capcom. One of the best games that I ever played. A lot of gamers didn't knew it.
As someone who can't even care to sort out those 2 groups of characters after seeing a few of the movies, but would probably love that Guardians game... Avengers is absolutely the reason I didn't even notice it at the time.
Funny that half of the games you've mentioned are part of my top favorite games ever. Guardians was addicting and fun, Titanfall 2 has one of the best SP campaigns I've ever played (shame it's so short) and Deus Ex was stunning. I'll have to try others from your list, seems you're hitting spot on! :)
I slept on Prey. Beating Deathloop on gamepass inspired me to try Prey, which was also on there. Bought both on Steam with the Dishonored games just recently. All bangers.
hmm, well. prey is a completely different game from the games you are used to. don't try to play prey like a cod campaign, my best tip is to use your creativity with the tools/abilities you are given and i also encourage you to explore every corner of the map INCLUDING THE CEILING AND BELOW THE GROUND, yes, you can use the gloo gun to climb walls. shoot at them and the gloo will dry and serve as a platform. maybe you should watch "Immersive Sims will never be popular" by AndyPants Gaming to explain you why u are not having a good time with this game. once you learn how to play imsims, i guarantee you will fall in love with them and will acknowledge them as the best game genre.
played Titanfall 2 time shift level yesterday for the first time. wow. just wow. such an artwork. not only this level but others too. amazing Amazing game
I played every single one of these and loved them. The newest one I played on that list is guardians of the Galaxy. It was better than actual marvel movies and shows as far as story goes. The gameplay was fun too. I thought it was an amazing game. I need to replay that. People don’t know what a good game is if you stapled it to their foreheads today. They are too busy pre-ordering games like outlaws and the same looking assassin’s Creed game for the 10th time lol
I played Spec Op The line and Splinter cell blacklist when they were released and I loved them. Performance was way better even with low PC configuration. About Immortals of Aveum, I tried playing it and loved the game play, however recommended graphic requirement is too high and perform very poorly on minimum requirements.
good video, i actually have guardians of the galaxy it was free on EGS not long ago, i also got spacers choice edition free from EGS which i havent played either yet
Immortals of Aveum could have succeeded if they cut the budget and price in half and pulled back on the emphasis on the story. Just be Amid Evil with some UE5 flare.
Mankind Divided was a big letdown for me. I didn't even complete the game because I was getting bored to death. Human Revolution was a far more interesting game with better quest and more interesting dialogs. Mankind Divided only put more augments and better graphics, but thats about it. P.S. considering other stealth games Blacklist was my favorite of all Splinter Cell games.
Splinter Cell Blackout is way more like Metal Gear Solid in my mind. Metal Gear Solid known as stealth game but you don't have to always stealth since because the boss fight.
At least half of these games "failed" because of unrealistic expectations, sales wise but also from their gamer audience. Would you conclude that the (mainstream?) gaming crowd can sometimes act "poisoned", only enjoying the known and formulaic gameplay content? I've not played all of the games on this list, but most of them stand out to me as really good games. And the ones on this list I've played certainly are. Then again, I'm not a mainstream gamer. I play a lot of different type of games and generally tend to go for the ones that somehow can surprise me, not those that do exactly the same thing. Good graphics are bonus, but not a requirement for my enjoyment. I also care less if a game is long or short, that is to say I don't confuse length with quality. EDIT: I've sat on Sunset and Guardians before. Will definitely try these out one day.
@@savagegaming27 Agree, currently we live in time of soulslikes and fortnites copies... I really hope that Horror genre will have its 5 minutes. Totally worth it.
Alpha Protocol had lot of bugs on release and still exist. It was a mess on launch. Guardians of the galaxy had a piss poor marketing and its problem was - wrong timing. Should have released at the height of Avengers movies. Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a good game, unfortunately people expected an old style splinter cell but it was less Splinter cell and more Assassins creed. People didn't like that. Immortals of Aveum: Its boring after first few hours. I didn't feel it as interesting. Deus Ex MankindDivided should have been a hit - not sure what happened.
Immortals Of Aveum was bad because the gunplay was worse than the pew pew of Halo. You have a Dualsense controller with haptic feedback and it really was early Xbox in the way it felt.

I have played Titanfall 2, Alien, Deus ex, (edit) spec ops, and Blacklist!
They are definitely some of the most amazing. Haven’t gotten the chance to play any other from the list.
Immortals of Aveum was awesome. Had a lot of fun with that one.
Deus ex 1 reigns supreme 👌
Alpha protocol was extremely amazing
Alpha protocol is one of the games that deserves a remake
i dont know why u guys consider splinter cell blacklist is not exactly stealth but more combat if u want to experince complete stealth in blacklist u just have to play in perfectionist difficulty which is the highest dificulty in splinter cell blaclist and if the enimes even get a glimpse of u they will start shooting and suround u from every direction and i use more stealth armor sets then combat or defense type armor sets and u can't use dead eye which is used to mark 3 players and kill them in the game is removed or desabled in perfectionist difficulty and by far i played all splinter cell game and in my pinion blacklist is a good stealth game after conviction which was a stealth masterpiece due to it's lack of armor sets or basically everything it was the most stealth oriented game ever ty.
I enjoyed Blacklist so much I had to go back and buy it again a few years ago. Now I have it on PC.
My favorites Titanfall 2, Guardians of the galaxy, Spec ops the line, splinter cell, deus ex and prey.
Sunset Overdrive. Simply put it was one of the best games released for the Xbox One/PS4 era and it sunk in sales.
Getting Thornton Inc. Trophy on my first playthru of Alpha Protocol felt so fulfilling. The cherry on top of my decisions. Great game experience.
Can confirm Prey is DOPE. Fantastic game and atmosphere
My daughter and I absolutely loved Sunset Overdrive and we still launch it from time to time so she can change out the costumes and skins.
In my personnel life and opinion the best example, it was "Shadow of Rome" from Capcom. One of the best games that I ever played. A lot of gamers didn't knew it.
I’m happy to say that I can personally vouch for four of these entries.
I’m open-minded but man that footage of Alpha Protocol made it look like the worst game ever made lol
9:00 no clue what one must think to release 3 games with identical (mostly) gameplay and expect everyone to buy all 3 🤯
As someone who can't even care to sort out those 2 groups of characters after seeing a few of the movies, but would probably love that Guardians game... Avengers is absolutely the reason I didn't even notice it at the time.
It’s crazy I played every one of these games and enjoyed all of them thoroughly
Splinter Cell Blacklist took the 24 TV Series route, not Call of Duty.
Sunset overdrive gotta be the most underrated and least played game of the entire list
Damn I loved recycler so much in Prey 2017
Believe me when I say the cover art to Sunset Overdrive didn’t help sales.
Spec Ops and Bad Co 2 are the two dopest military shooters.
Spec Ops mann
Funny that half of the games you've mentioned are part of my top favorite games ever. Guardians was addicting and fun, Titanfall 2 has one of the best SP campaigns I've ever played (shame it's so short) and Deus Ex was stunning. I'll have to try others from your list, seems you're hitting spot on! :)
I slept on Prey. Beating Deathloop on gamepass inspired me to try Prey, which was also on there. Bought both on Steam with the Dishonored games just recently. All bangers.
deus ex mankind divided I'm still gutted about that one Adam Jensen is one of the great leads in any video game ever done
I've tried to get into Prey multiple times and I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Been stuck in the same area for hours
hmm, well. prey is a completely different game from the games you are used to. don't try to play prey like a cod campaign, my best tip is to use your creativity with the tools/abilities you are given and i also encourage you to explore every corner of the map INCLUDING THE CEILING AND BELOW THE GROUND, yes, you can use the gloo gun to climb walls. shoot at them and the gloo will dry and serve as a platform.
maybe you should watch "Immersive Sims will never be popular" by AndyPants Gaming to explain you why u are not having a good time with this game.
once you learn how to play imsims, i guarantee you will fall in love with them and will acknowledge them as the best game genre.
played Titanfall 2 time shift level yesterday for the first time. wow. just wow. such an artwork. not only this level but others too. amazing Amazing game
Man I really want Adam's story have a prologue, dsx 3 should be an easy goty
I played every single one of these and loved them. The newest one I played on that list is guardians of the Galaxy. It was better than actual marvel movies and shows as far as story goes. The gameplay was fun too. I thought it was an amazing game. I need to replay that. People don’t know what a good game is if you stapled it to their foreheads today. They are too busy pre-ordering games like outlaws and the same looking assassin’s Creed game for the 10th time lol
Fun fact, the dude from Alpha Protocol goes on to become the clone used for all Storm Troopers
Can't believe Concord is not in the list.
I played Spec Op The line and Splinter cell blacklist when they were released and I loved them. Performance was way better even with low PC configuration. About Immortals of Aveum, I tried playing it and loved the game play, however recommended graphic requirement is too high and perform very poorly on minimum requirements.
At the time people werent aware that Micheal Ironside was battling Cancer and hence couldn’t voice Sam Fisher
Spec Ops .....what a game, what a story ....
titanfall , crysis , deus ex these are the best games i hv ever played
good video, i actually have guardians of the galaxy it was free on EGS not long ago, i also got spacers choice edition free from EGS which i havent played either yet
Immortals of Aveum could have succeeded if they cut the budget and price in half and pulled back on the emphasis on the story. Just be Amid Evil with some UE5 flare.
Man Sunset overdrive was such a Bomb
Best Xbox exclusive ever, it should come to Psn so it can finally get the attention it deserves
Titanfall 2 didn't flop at all, it still has 'Overwhelmingly positive' rating at steam, the rating which is very rare for EA games
Sunset Overdrive is so underrated
The reason blacklist failed was because the conviction while in truth black actually fixed the problem with conviction l
Blacklist was great and easily one of the best Splinter Cell games
Splinter Cell Blackout is way more like Metal Gear Solid in my mind. Metal Gear Solid known as stealth game but you don't have to always stealth since because the boss fight.
i can't believe it Splinter cell blacklist is my favorite game in 2013
Just played splinter cell blacklist in 2024. It is simply amazing. Short but fun stealth action.
played and enjoyed all of the them except alpha protocol...never heard of it...gonna try it now.
I tried guardians of the galaxy on ps plus and I was surprised by how good it was
My problem with Guardians is that every time I see some gameplay they are fighting shape aliens, it’s either a square, a triangle or a ball
Alien: Isolation was a flop?? WHAT?!?! This was the best horror game I've every played. And there is a sequel comming out soon.
Was a commercial flop
@@savagegaming27 They earned enough to start working on the sequel, so not really a commectial flop I guess. Thankfully.
@@n8n8n8n sales were not upto the mark initially because majority does not prefer horror genre not because it was a bad game
@@savagegaming27 Agree, currently we live in time of soulslikes and fortnites copies... I really hope that Horror genre will have its 5 minutes. Totally worth it.
Specs Ops Story line is dope
Alpha Protocol had lot of bugs on release and still exist. It was a mess on launch.
Guardians of the galaxy had a piss poor marketing and its problem was - wrong timing. Should have released at the height of Avengers movies.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist is a good game, unfortunately people expected an old style splinter cell but it was less Splinter cell and more Assassins creed. People didn't like that.
Immortals of Aveum: Its boring after first few hours. I didn't feel it as interesting.
Deus Ex MankindDivided should have been a hit - not sure what happened.
Blacklist is great and Deus Ex MD is extraordinary
Titanfall 2 is on sale on Steam for 3€!
Alternative title => "10 fps games that flopped but were actually great"
Got to say I played and actually loved all those games. I own half of them still.
Immortals Of Aveum was bad because the gunplay was worse than the pew pew of Halo. You have a Dualsense controller with haptic feedback and it really was early Xbox in the way it felt.
Alpha protocol was definitely not great . It has some redeeming qualities but great is extremely strong .
He sounds like he was 5 years old when he played it. I clearly remember how awful that game was. Awful in every way.
Dues Ex is GOAT Tier game, better than cyberpunk
Blacklist & spec ops were brilliant
The field of view made Alien isolation unplayable for me.
