Ghosts of Tsushima for me was one! I was so sad when I finished because I knew I wouldn’t have a game like that play for a long time. The environments, story and how the game made you feel Like you were an actual samurai. At certain battles I would turn the black and white filter on and make it like a 1950’s samurai flick! 😭
I really enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima, but couldn't bring myself to finish it because I started getting bored. The combat is fantastic, as well as the story and visuals, but something about the gameplay itself turned me off. I think it got kind of repetitive, especially after finishing Act I. Side quests were tedious and boring imo, but I think I will come back and finish the game just because of the story alone. Did this ever occur to you?
@@VladCristian Interesting, i found gameplay to be very fun, but the story except a few great moments wasent all that good for me, but overall amazing game ! it did get very boring for me after i finished the last mission.

I revisited Skyrim recently and, while the stealth archer gameplay is phenomenal, it really is a bleak game. You can fix the washed-out visuals with the saturation mod, but there's no mod to give the game any genuine charm. If it was nothing but dungeons it would be fine, but considering what it wants to be (an immersive world with its own lore), I'd argue that Oblivion and Morrowind leave it in the dust.

Here is my 2 cents. These games left me in awe with their overall combination of "atmosphere/writing (especially!)/art design" and made me feel I was playing something very, very special that'd have a lasting mark in my mind as a work of art. Thief 1, fallout 1, planescape torment, system shock 2, silent hill 2, bioshock 1, assassin's creed 2 and spec ops the line. Whenever I think of them, I still feel "jeez, how were they able to do that?"
For anyone that experienced the development from 2D to 3D in early 1990's with Doom, Quake, Descent, Heretic, Syndicate, DeusEx or multiplayer Q3Arena, BF2 or Rainbow 6 Raven Shield, newer titles will never be able to present that feeling again, i am just spoiled. The Descent Demo shareware version in 1994 was just mindblowing, contained 7 levels, and came on 3.5" floppy disks with a PC magazine. I actually shit myself playing Doom, and laughed until i cried on multi BF2, while amazing at the skill levels in multi Raven Shield or Q3. As good as many games are, the real magic happened many years ago and is long gone. I do agree on the Super Mario though 🙂 You could add Midtown Madness, or the Need 4 Speed version where you could mod the vehicles using a hex editor. I had a Ferrari with the biggest turbo lag and manual gearing 😁

Amazing video mate, I HIGHLY recommend playing Dragon Age Origins , Divinity Original Sin II and Kingdom Come Deliverance, for I think you'd find yourself immersed in those as well. Those on top of Witcher 3, Oblivion and ME Trilogy are my absolute favorites ✨✨✨
Those small conversations you have before a bossfight in starfox were epic and always made me feel nervous and wanted to destroy them even more. Respect for the Demon's Souls pick. Nowadays people brush the game aside because it does not have Devil May Cry bosses, but forget that it was the game with the best atmosphere, arguably best lore and arguably best areas and every boss is a different experience. My favorite game of all time, easily. And Shadow of the Colossus too, great, great list.
I grew up on Colony Island in LC (aka Roosevelt Island in nyc). Getting to run around my childhood home in a GTA title was surreal to say the least. I only have about 25 years of gaming, but those 25 years began when I was 30. Now, at 54, your video reminded me of what a long strange trip it's been. Won't list 'em, but Witcher 3 is my all timer. For me it’s : 1. Fighting games. Take your pick. Getting into that genre. And I mean really learning it at a competitive level. It deconstructs everything you think you know about gaming. And once you understand it. How to read and utilise framedata to your advantage, how to read other players and understand the intricacies of risk reward at that level. Once you realise frame perfect inputs and 40+ input button combinations are tied to muscle memory and aren’t as impossible as you thought, rather it just take detication. Hours of failing and persisting before you can do them blindfolded. That feeling when it all clicks. It is like seeing the Matrix for the first time. Like you’ve been lied to by these Soulslike elitist for years about the concept of what a hard game really is. It teaches you to get back up after you fall. Against other people. In an arena in wich you can not level up your character. You can not “cheese” a skilled player. It truly is an experience no game will give you (and yes, I platinumed Elden Ring. Love it, but it doesn’t come close). That genre, it’s the genre that seperates the boys from men. It also prepares you for life, in ways you never thought possible
Good video. A great, inspiring list of very good games that you have to see and play. Thank you for that. At this point, a short story from my own experience. I have enjoyed playing video games for 45 years, from the Atari to the C64, Amiga to the first used 386 PC in 1992, a new 486 in 1993 (you can imagine the rest...). My most unforgettable moment in relation to video games was in 1993, when a computer magazine included the shareware version of DOOM. That was amazing. Episode 1 'Knee Deep In the Dead' Level 1 'Hangar'. Unforgettable. I would have loved to have seen my face when the Marine loaded his gun and the horror started. A moment that changed everything. All demands were suddenly completely redefined. Have a nice one. ✌👍

1. I just genuinely didn't like Breath of the Wild. Open world was great but it removed everything i loved about Zelda
2. How dare you say Chrono Trigger's soundtrack doesn't compare to modern games? Best video game soundtrack of all time to this day
You didn't have any Megadrive/Genesis, did you?
Wow Xenosaga. Hardly anyone has that on their list. Control is also one of my favs.
@@micahgmiranda You meant xenogears, right? I've seen many acknowledge xenosaga before.
@@simiuciacia Xenogears is way more popular than Xenosaga from what I've seen. If you look on Howlongtobeat, 919 have beaten Xenogears, whereas only a third of that have beaten Xenosaga III.

Ghosts of Tsushima for me was one!
I was so sad when I finished because I knew I wouldn’t have a game like that play for a long time.
The environments, story and how the game made you feel
Like you were an actual samurai.

Getaway deserves a remaster
I wish they'd bring GTA 4 to next gen consoles. I'd love to be able to play it again on my PS5. They brought the original 3, so why can't they do it with 4. They wouldn't have to do major improvements like they did with the other 3 either. Come on rockstar!

Vagrant story omg, such a good game
@@anthonyfaccaro7118 Way ahead of its time, a masterpiece.
Vagrant Story, there’s a deep cut. Great game.
Couldn’t agree more!
Deus Ex is still my top game, was lucky enough to have that and Shogun Total War on my parents PC back in 2000.
Rome, Shogun 1&2, Medieval 2, and Empire are some of my favorite games ever made. Loved playing total war.
I do agree on the Super Mario though 🙂
You could add Midtown Madness, or the Need 4 Speed version where you could mod the vehicles using a hex editor. I had a Ferrari with the biggest turbo lag and manual gearing 😁

Borderlands 2+DLCs
Borderlands 3+DLCs

Amazing video mate, I HIGHLY recommend playing Dragon Age Origins , Divinity Original Sin II and Kingdom Come Deliverance, for I think you'd find yourself immersed in those as well. Those on top of Witcher 3, Oblivion and ME Trilogy are my absolute favorites ✨✨✨
Those small conversations you have before a bossfight in starfox were epic and always made me feel nervous and wanted to destroy them even more. Especially the final boss, taunts you the most and is most satisfying to defeat. No other game gave me this satisfaction with defeating bosses.
Btw nice video man! Just what I needed. Cause i was a bit lost when it comes to choosing a new game, now I remember what I like again.
Hot take but I respect it
@@G_UZI it was my first Souls experience before Dark Souls even came out so it has left a gigantic impact on me. Which one do you like the most?
I grew up on Colony Island in LC (aka Roosevelt Island in nyc). Getting to run around my childhood home in a GTA title was surreal to say the least. It topped finding my actual apartment building in Spider Man 2 by a mile.

For me it’s :
Meatriding sweaty gameplay
😂😂😂😂😂 "separate the boys from the men, prepares you for life"
I love this and agree , maybe a bit over the top but really is so rewarding

@@aidanscorner847 A guy who has been playing video games for 30 years would definitely prefer RDR
@@JustaUser24876 rdr is great don’t get me wrong but there’s sooooo much other stuff that it’s possible to go 20 games without mentioning it
As soon as I saw this comment, i stopped the video and looked for another channel

Good video. I used to play fifa a ton in the 11-17 range when I was 13-19. Absolutely loved it. Fifa 18 was the game changer. They over saturated FUT with all kinds of stuff, started ignoring everything else, and started trying to make the game so “realistic” that they nerfed all the fun out of the game.
This guy has put shadow of the colossus in the list and i could cry.
Its my favorite game of all time and it is because its so unique and a piece of art.
These is a great list. I like how it goes all the way back to the SNES.
Obviously, there are some omissions but these are all cream of the crop games. Good stuff
Thank you for putting metal gear solid one on this 🙏🏼 what a masterpiece
Great list. That's awesome you added The Specialists. I've thought about that game over the years, but could never remember the name of it, or even which game it was a mod for. Played quite a lot of it back in the day, and have never seen anything quite like it. I remember once Googling something like "Matrix style FPS game", with no luck. You also summed up perfectly why GTA 4 is my favourite game as well, with the gritty tone, characters and perfect car physics.
The games Delta force games from nova logic were my childhood, I'll never forget playing them with my dad. Some more games that deserve love, dishonored, stalker, metro, medal of honor and blitzkrieg 😊
Great list and video! Personally, I’d add 'Limbo' and 'Inside' to the mix-both were absolutely incredible games!
can,t believe it!. The getaway!, it was one of my favourite games back in the day, and for me, still a classic!
Yeees StarFox finally getting some deserved love. That game is amazing up til today, highly recommend
Fallout 4 for me was a great experience. This game is in my head.
Cool topic; personal experience like this is what I sub to. I don't want confirmation bias, I want discovery. Nice work.
The Getaway is by far the best game I've ever played. Other notable mentions include Driver , Syphon filter , medal of honour , counter strike,, die hard , battlefield 1 & V, deer hunter
This video is soo osum bro thanks for a nice lil blast from the past its like going back in a time masheen for the past 30 years
I do not know your sir, but i feel like i have finally found a long lost friend. All of these games define my childhood (i"ll personally will add: Assassins creed 2, AC black flag, Far cry 4 and SSX3). But this list is like a flashback of my childhood, you sir have earned a subscriber.
I forgot about the specialists!! I loved that mod so much!
I started gaming in 1980 and have a lot of favourites to choose from. If I was stuck on a desert island with a potato PC I'd probably be playing Zork.
This is a really good list. I like the variety
18:33 got my admiration immediately - great choice!
