  • I always have difficulty trying to return my filtered coffee grind setting to zero on my DF64 with SSP Multipurpose burr installed.
    I have discovered that you can return to the zero point easily!

    Wow CY😃👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 thank you so much for your efforts to help us enjoy our coffee journey. I only use my DF64 for espresso only as it’s fitted with the SSP espresso burrs but it is still good to know. Thanks again.

    Hello. It happened to me as well, like every morning. Funny thing is, I can easily turn it to finer setting easily if I do it right away. I usually turn on the grinder at the setting where it stuck and push the bellow in the same time. I can see small amount of fine ground inside the bucket. I assume that temperature and humidity harden the remnant and tighten the (SSP) burr. I don't know if it also happen on stock Italmill burr. Fyi, I live in Jakarta (same temp and humidity with SG) but I put the grinder next to my window.

      Jean have you tested to see if you can screw the collar back on with this method while the burr is running? Let me know as my spare parts are arriving soon.

    I don't think it's typical for everyone but mine even with stock burrs it always seems to get stuck if I grind coarse and then try to go back to the espresso setting. I was doing the same thing having to open it up and clean it out, then I think someone mentioned you can go EVEN more coarse and just pump it out (with a bunch of semi-violent pumps) that should clear it out, also turn the grinder on and off while doing it. I think that's better for the burrs.

      I actually did a poll in a Df64 group and it looked like more than 50% of people who actually go back and forth from espresso grind size noticed this issue. It also happens with different burr types.

    This happened with my DF64 Gen 2 just now, but I havent even swapped out the burrs. No idea what happened, but the burrs wouldn't spin freely below about the "50" marker, and I was unable to turn the wheel below the 45 marker.. I sent an email to customer support about it, came back to the grinder to investigate further and the issue had magically fixed itself. I didn't even power it on, the zero point seems to have just magically returned to where it should be. Does anyone know what causes this?

    • @CaffeMartellaSingapore
      @CaffeMartellaSingapore  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Most likely, during transport or movement, the coarser coffee pieces moved and got out of the way, which previously prevented the burrs from tuning.

  • @igiveupfine
    @igiveupfine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    ......oh ya because there's coarsely ground coffee chunks still stuck in there from when you ground the coffee coarsely. so by having the grinder on while adjusting it, you're able to break down those pieces still in there.

    • @CaffeMartellaSingapore
      @CaffeMartellaSingapore  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's actually not. I have tested it

    • @igiveupfine

      @@CaffeMartellaSingapore it's NOT pieces of left over coffee in there? it really does sound like it. do you know what it is then?

    • @CaffeMartellaSingapore
      @CaffeMartellaSingapore  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the reason why I say it isn't I'd because previously I will always unscrew my collar and there is no coffee ground at all. At this point I am not sure why. I will do more test.

    I have this problem with stock burrs as well, good to know it's not just me!
    Any idea what causes this?

    • @BensCoffeeRants
      @BensCoffeeRants 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's a bean fragment getting stuck somewhere. Don't think it's really supposed to happen if you're adjusting while the Burrs are moving but for this grinder it seems to be a flaw where that happens. Just go really coarse and keep pumping the Bellows violently and that usually clears it out then you can go fine again.

    Thanks for the video! Do you risk damaging the burrs going beyond the 0 setting?

    • @CaffeMartellaSingapore
      @CaffeMartellaSingapore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it is for a short period of time, it won't. In fact for ssp mp, hu and cast, the outer rim of the burrs are flat and usually we will do wet marker burr alignment test on that region. Hence ei believe if it's not done over a long period of of time, it's ok.

    My Pringles lid fits "just right" to the outside of the bellows❗
