Can you talk more about lupus and Anemia? Because that's me I was diagnosed at 18 teen I'm currently 47 and will be turning 48 in August. I also in the past went through two iron treatments currently I take 2 iron pills a day, hopefully you will reply soon I will be looking forward to seeing what you say.
I had severe anemia and transfusion dependent for over 20 years. 3 years ago i started cleaning up my diet and IF. I no longer need monthly blood transfusions. I have only had 1 in over a year. Thank you Dr. Ekberg. My mother is suffering from Thrombocytopenia, the doctors tested her for leukemia twice, it was negative. I would love if you could make a video on that.
Thanks, other signs so people know (I was told my combined blood count should be 200, I was down to 7! Didn't have these symptoms you list except kinda felt sluggish). Being out of breath easily, jerking your legs when trying to fall asleep (restless leg syndrome), leg cramps, hair coming out a lot more when you brush it and hairs ending up allover (finding it in your food, on your clothes when you didn't before...it's falling out), pallor might be ok but if you pull out your bottom eyelid it's white instead of red or pink inside the lid, lips having no colour, if you go pale slowly you may not notice (nor may those who see you daily) but often you will see dark circles start under your eyes because the skin has gotten paler so they show more.
This happened to me as well. Then I went back and saw the same doctor I'd seen for years and he took 1 look at me and diagnosed anemia, way before the blood test came back. I'm not sure how a good doctor can look at you and tell, but I think it's the eyes like you said. I've always been pale but I def got paler than normal. Like you, I had no other symptoms just felt sluggish and caffeine was not working for me
I have been anemic in the past, was given an iron transfusion during my last pregnancy a bit over 3 years ago, and I also started a low carb diet then as I was also diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Now I'm 47 and probably slowly becoming perimenopausal, still eating mostly low carb but going to start a more conscious attempt at carb cycling at specific times of month to see if that helps with hormone production. My hair has thinned since going low carb. I only intermittent fast so far. But I often get heart palpitations and dizziness, and recently brittle nails, grooves in my thumb nails, and I forget things that surprise me. I can't multitask any more. And I'm tired. I suspect I might have iron deficiency again as I drink a few cups of tea a day and eat probably more nuts than I should, which I heard can block mineral absorption. I do eat liver at least one or two servings per month, and I eat red meat often (including a monthly serve of osso bucco with bone marrow), and usually 3 or more eggs most days. I try to have a serve of vegetables and little bits of fruit most days. I take an electrolyte if I think I need it, and also magnesium and Vit D, C, recently B12. I pulled back on the Vit C high doses when an abdominal ultrasound revealed a little calcification in a cyst on my right kidney. I occasionally have tenderness where my gallbladder is. It was like a stitch a few times after indulging on very fatty roasted duck or pork bellies. I rarely get heartburn anymore since changing to low carb but on the odd occasion when I eat a freshly baked slice of my husband's homemade sourdough rye bread, if I get acid reflux, I find a shot of apple cider vinegar really helps, so I suspect I might have low acid. My husband also makes a yoghurt salad with cucumber and raw garlic which lasts over a week in the fridge and we are hoping it provides some probiotics. I still need to work out why I am tired a lot and getting dizzy, especially when I go from squatting to standing. I have always tended towards allergies and am asthmatic, but it improved when we moved away from one state where there was a lot of rye grass. I still consume dairy, more goat's milk but still cow's cheese, and I suspect it is one of the reasons I used to have anemia when I was younger - a lot of dairy and sugar, also wheat. But now I hardly have any sugar and mostly avoid wheat. Dairy is the last thing to have a go at eliminating. I'd have filtered water if we could afford it but all I do is drink tap water after it has sat in a big glass jar for a couple of days to at least let the chlorine evaporate. I think there is still fluoride in our water. And then I have the odd day where I just forget all of the above and have a drink and a laugh because there are just so many things we have no control over that we must just try to enjoy ourselves while we are still here on earth, right? 😂😉 Don't even get me started on the topic of cultural difference of the individualists vs the collectivists and the impact those things might be having on our health...
Seriously!!!! Four years ago?😮 Wow, thank you @drekberg. I am currently experiencing all of these due to a toxin overload. You captured all so aptly. Where can we continue this consultation please?
Just Just diagnosed and I have very low vit d as well. It's a catch 22 I have no energy but I need to do things to get energy but I'm already exhausted. These symptoms could be for prolonged grief, cptsd, anxiety and depression which I have. I always come to youtube after seeing a GP
Great content as always. Many thanks. Helped my family o lot, e.g. looking at the cholesterol level via different lense. I'm on low carbs and 16/8 IF for over 1 year and feeling great. Your content was life changing for the whole my family. A question Dr.: I'm all within the level with my blood test, however high on PLT (MPV). You did not touch this in your video. Any indication there please? Many thanks

Dear Dr. Ekberg, I was diagnosed with low Ferritin and was asked to take ferrous sulfate. After six month of taking it my ferritin is lower. It went from 46 to 28.
Internal bleeding or some other form of blood loss? Maybe try Ferrous Bisglycinate as it's better absorbed. Take with vitamin c and take it 2 hours after or before meals, because there are a lot of anti iron nutrients in food, like calcium, polyphenols etc
Hello! New to your channel and I love your approach to these health topics! I have been diagnosed with Anemia for the first time in my life this year. I have watched your videos on autophagy and what you eat in a week and I have a question about iron absorption and cruciferous vegetables. Could you please make a video about this? I am finding mixed messaged on the internet about brocolli and spinach being good sources of non-heme iron while others bring up the levels of oxilates that block absorption. Some sites say to eat these foods with the calcium in dairy to attach to the oxilates so they do not attach to the iron and allow better absorption. Meanwhile, other sites say that dairy blocks the absorption of iron. Should someone on the OMAD method eat beef with brocolli or would this block the iron absorption? Would adding cheese help or hender absorption even further? Thanks again!
Tea also blocks the absorption of iron and you should always have some vit C with an iron supplement because they go hand in hand, the vit C helps the absorption of iron and (I always forget which way round this is) but if you have too much of one and not enough of the other you will find you will suffer from either diarrhoea or constipation.🙂
Thank you Zekija Covic. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad you liked it. The greatest compliment you can give is to help us help more people by sharing the videos.
In Germany our range for women is 11 to 180. I think 11 is crazy. I always had around 20 and the doctor said it was okay. Now that i filled it up to 50 i feel way better
I finally understand why my blood count was low, the haemoglobin blood count was around 5, makes sense. I thought that was just my blood count in general, not the haemoglobin.
@Dr. Sten Ekberg, my white blood cell count is low. What can I do to increase my WBC count? What foods or supplements would you recommend? What could be the cause?
already check ur Vit D level? if u go upstair (at least til 3rd floors), do ur heart pumping it quick/fast? can try B Complex (make sure its come fm an active forms of --> B2 (Riboflavin 5 Phosphate), B6 (Pyrodoxal 5 Phosphate), Folate (Methylfolate) & B12 (Methylcobalamin), low in electrolux (Magnesium & Potassium) also can contribute to dizzy & tired too.. besides that B Vitamins/Complex & Iron (oxygen transporter)
Great video very informative. I am pregnant and have mild anemia ( hemoglobin 10.6, hematocrit 34.2, total count 3.4 and also white blood cell count 14.2). I do eat a healthy diet and also don’t have any of the symptoms, so I really wonder what is causing it. Thanks!
Just ask for a full test. My doctor did a full test. I also said I want my annual test hint hint whole test. Always demand top service from doctors if you feel not research or ask trusted people people a recommendation and go to another dr
Great video I was diagnosed with auto immune hemolytic anemia 18 years ago after being on iron supplements for 10 years and had hemochromatosis from over supplementation. At one point during treatment my hemoglobin got down to 2.9 it was at 4.7 when I went into the er because I thought I had the flu.
Sorry to hear about your history. That is what can happen when they only look at one piece of the big picture. Iron by itself is rarely the only problem. Hope you are doing better.
Thanks so much for this video as I am trying to understand my body better! I am really trying to listen to what my body tells me it needs. I have an autoimmune condition Cogans Syndrome. I see my rheumatologist every 6 months. Sometimes I am very good at my checkups, but every now and then I get a letter that my ferritin is low. This last time I got a letter that said that my hematocrit is too low. Now I’m being referred to a Hematologist! I go to work everyday and yes I feel tired but I just continue to work through this. I feel that it’s simply my diet that’s causing these problems! Or maybe because I’m getting older. I was taking Ferrous Sulfate tablets from my Rheumatologist. But in the past he’ll take me off of them or if necessary he’ll put me back on again. Well, I stopped taking them on my own this time and look what happened! Low Hematocrit 30% 😱🫣 I wonder what the hematologist will say?!
I found out I was anemic after craving ice like a mad woman and then going to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. No heart issues. Anemic. In my late 40s with heavy cycles going into menopause so it all makes sense. So!! If you crave ice all day every day please have your iron checked.
@@carolhopetyler2178 Iron infusion. But had to have a uterine polyp removed. It was causing heavy bleeding which is why I became anemic. Have to control the bleeding first
I dont crave ice but I crave larabars à lot. I bleed heavy. Been doing it for 7 years. They told me I'm enemic but barely by a couple points. I was always wondering why I would get tired fast, headackes, itchy skin, and feeling faint. I eat pretty healthy I think I have to find out how to stop the bleeding. I took a colonospy and à enoposy and they said there was nothing inside me and it's a ulcer so I have to figure out how to stop the bleeding. How you feeling today? Thanks for sharing your story 💯
@@underrated7725 No more anemia thank The Creator. Do you have internal bleeding from the ulcer? I hope you treat it because that's a long time to suffer with something that can be treated. There are natural treatments that can help you heal. Please take care. Thank you💗
@@underrated7725 If you are bleeding vaginally then have your obgyn do an exam to check for Fibroids or polyps. You could have adeneomyosis (?spelling) so if you haven't yet ask them to do a full check. This is what helped me.
I've suffered with anemia for years on and off all the doctors have done for me is give me ferris sulphate my hair falls out and I still always feel tired they just dont seem interested and want to get to the bottom of it...its upsetting I've never questioned a doctor mayb I should.
only if you keep going back into the past and keep focusing on it. if you relax into the present there is no reason why the past should keep hurting you here and now.
Yes. I think that hyper vigilant personality that comes from emotional abuse leads to higher levels of cortisol and this can cause all kinds of things. For me it led to hypothyroidism among other problems. It’s like our bodies are trying to say, “hey I’m not okay.. you need to feel your feelings and listen to this inner child that is hurting and has been emotionally neglected.” I recommend Pete Walker’s book on CPTSD and his book the Tao of Fully Feeling. If you can learn to feel your feelings, grieve your past, and reparent yourself, you might help ameliorate some serious health issues. It takes time. Be patient and kind to yourself. Good luck on your healing journey. 💚
@@Amatullah.574 I’m 42. I really relate. It’s like most our lives we go through thinking we’re the problem and hating ourselves for it because we were trained to see the abuse as normal. Takes so long to figure out. Good luck to you. 💚
Hello Dr. Ekberg! I am 55 years old. For 40 years my hemoglobin has been high. I am between (172-176) Polycythemia. On the other hand, for 5 years, between 2010 and 2015, I was in the high normal range. (163-167). I'm looking for why. The doctors don't know why I have Polycythemia. All tests are normal even with oncologist. I would like to know if the ketogenic diet can increase hemoglobin? or if I should be more vegetarian? Can you give me any advice for this cause? All the rest of my blood tests are normal. Thank you so much!😃

I was just diagnosed with anemia and they told me I need to take 2 vitamins a day with a glass of orange juice. I suffered a miscarriage and ignored it for about a month because I thought it was a crazy period 😭
Hey doc! I suspect I have anemia, I’m also quite underweight. I started a low carb high fat diet after years of stuffing myself with junk food (surprisingly never gained weight, so didn’t care too much) until I saw your video on autophagy and changed my diet overnight. My problem is I can’t eat enough in the two meals I take in my eating window. I feel full easily, I guess my appetite is less than an average person. I have eczema which flairs sometimes, restless leg when I’m sitting idle, and feel dizzy when I stand up after sitting. I’ve lost 6 kgs in a month, and though my mind’s clear and I feel great, I want to be healthy. Is there anything I can do to improve my bloodwork and weight? I genuinely hope to hear from you.
Beef, Duck, animal protein in general. Organ meats, especially liver. Drink a glass of juice that has vitamin c in it with all non animal sources of iron. If taking pills, or getting iron from non-animal sources try not to take them at same time as calcium.
try the carnivore diet. see yt ch Nutrition with judy, Dr Mindy Pelz, Steak and butter gal, Shawn bakker md. Also look up Revero read their testimones & watch their vids. see dr berg's vid son "standing up and being dizzy" take care.
Hi Dr. thank you so much for making all these video it benefits us a lot we appreciate it more than you know 🌺💕I just had a question I have a lot of gut issues like a leaky gut cebo and more, I had a question about my ferritin the blood work was law the number was 6 , and Iron bind cap.(tibc) is hi 455, I see two doctors for different reasons and they told me about the iron the naturopath told me you shouldn’t be taking iron your body is making a lot of iron but you’re absorbing it and my other doctor said no your body is crying for iron you have to take iron 🤷♀️…so I don’t know what to do …can you please let me know what’s going on ?? thank you so much and God bless you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💐🙂
As per Dr Ekberg's suggestion, TIBC shows how hungry your body is for iron. Your TIBC is higher than 350, means hungry for iron. If ferritin is 6, your iron storage is about to run out. Natural food is better than supplements most of the time. All the best.
My ferritin is lower than normal but hemoglobin is 12, and it's supposed to be btwn 12-16, my b12 is also ok Am getting iron infusion 2 times, let me see how I will react

Many thanks
Such a great video and explanation! Thank you, Sir. Hope it’ll have much more views
I'm an civil engineer, but I would love to study medical if you are as a professor. appreciated really well explained 👍
I really wanna meet this guy n give him a huge, thanks for saving my life ❤️❤️❤️❤️

You sound ignorant.
Hi Dr.Sten, could you explain the conection of iron(ferritin) and hair loss, also does anemia lead to hair loss?
Yup, 50μg/L hair stops shedding if you've been experiencing hair loss.
70μg/L for Regrowth
Best explanation so far!
Awesome! Glad you liked it. Thank you for asking the question.
Thank you, si much dor the information. Ive been diagnosed with anemia and on high amount of iron daily.. with B&C and multivitamin.
Thanks for the great info! One of the best! Could you talk about increasing platelets?
Thank you for breaking it down. I understand well now.
great video! how can one change their lifestyle and nutrition to strengthen the bone marrow and make sure EPO is produced adequately?
You don't have to worry about it. Your body has infinite intelligence which will return you to homeostasis as long as you don't mess it up. All of my videos are about this.

Hi dr.sten Ekberg thank you for giving us so much knowledge through your TH-cam channel love listening to you. Just one request if you could make a video about what best diet and excise for those who have hormonal imbalances due to ovarian cysts, anemic and hypothyroidism. My weight fluctuate a lot. Due to these conditions.it will be a lot of help to us women if you talk this matter next video.thank you in advance
Excellent and well explained video 😊 Thank you doctor!!
Thank you so much …you explain clearly to understand about Anemia ❤️
Thank you for your work. The one thing I miss on your list are parasites. Too much of them can also influence the iron absorption.
The best channel ever
After all this, I hope I never get anemic!!! Not sure my brain took all of that in... thank you Dr. Ekberg
Not sure you saw on Instagram or Facebook, but you won the Patient Appreciation price of $200 of Wellness For Life Bucks. Congratulations!
You are the best ……… thank you 🙏 ❤️
Thank you Zekija Covic. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad you liked it. The greatest compliment you can give is to help us help more people by sharing the videos.
My MCV is 82, how do i increase it? Can you do a video on congestive heart failure?
Thankyou . Very important content . Helped me very much .
In Germany our range for women is 11 to 180. I think 11 is crazy. I always had around 20 and the doctor said it was okay. Now that i filled it up to 50 i feel way better
I’ve gone down to 7 and my doctors are not concerned. I had to ask them to prescribe iron supplements.
I finally understand why my blood count was low, the haemoglobin blood count was around 5, makes sense. I thought that was just my blood count in general, not the haemoglobin.
Please please make a video about chronic kidney disease
@Dr. Sten Ekberg, my white blood cell count is low. What can I do to increase my WBC count? What foods or supplements would you recommend? What could be the cause?
Very interesting 👌 I love your explanations. Thank you very much sir.❤
Thank you.
May you be well
Thank you so much for this video 💕
Hello Doc. I am always short breathing , dizzy and feel tired everyday but the doctor said no problem. What can I do about it?Japan.
already check ur Vit D level? if u go upstair (at least til 3rd floors), do ur heart pumping it quick/fast? can try B Complex (make sure its come fm an active forms of --> B2 (Riboflavin 5 Phosphate), B6 (Pyrodoxal 5 Phosphate), Folate (Methylfolate) & B12 (Methylcobalamin), low in electrolux (Magnesium & Potassium) also can contribute to dizzy & tired too.. besides that B Vitamins/Complex & Iron (oxygen transporter)
way to go doctor well done. Easy to understand and to the point. I have been telling her maybe she will listen now.
Thanks!
how are you doing a year later? did you see a doctor about your raised WBC levels?
Very informative.Thank you .
Thank you so much for your information as a blessing🥰
This was so informative, thank you
Thank you Dr. Sten! I'm recovering from leaky gut and I have 11.8 Hemoglobin. What can I eat to increase it?
Kind regards.
Ana
Really great info in this video, many thanks! 👍👍👍
How can I find a doctor to look at all these things? Or if I go to my regular doctor, what can I ask her to test?
Just ask for a full test. My doctor did a full test. I also said I want my annual test hint hint whole test. Always demand top service from doctors if you feel not research or ask trusted people people a recommendation and go to another dr
Pp
Great video I was diagnosed with auto immune hemolytic anemia 18 years ago after being on iron supplements for 10 years and had hemochromatosis from over supplementation. At one point during treatment my hemoglobin got down to 2.9 it was at 4.7 when I went into the er because I thought I had the flu.
Sorry to hear about your history. That is what can happen when they only look at one piece of the big picture. Iron by itself is rarely the only problem. Hope you are doing better.
are you kidding? can one survive a hemoglobin that low?
@@baranjan4172 Yes one can only because it dropped that low over time and my body had adapted.
thank you dr. you are a excelen teacher
Great content. Thank you for this. What is your opinion about Copper and Iron relation? Is it helpful to take them together?
Very helpful , thank you so much.😉👍
when hemoglobin test is within range but ferritin low (9), what does it mean? tried everything to increase ferritin but no success!
If you have found the answer plz share
Very important video for ladies
I found out I was anemic after craving ice like a mad woman and then going to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. No heart issues. Anemic. In my late 40s with heavy cycles going into menopause so it all makes sense. So!! If you crave ice all day every day please have your iron checked.
What was the treatment
Dr Ekberg can you discuss ferritin levels please when discussing this topic? O
Do you believe / have you seen that chronic emotional stress (from childhood and up) can be a source of adult onset health problems?
only if you keep going back into the past and keep focusing on it. if you relax into the present there is no reason why the past should keep hurting you here and now.
@@tnijoo5109 I agree. So true. 47 and only now grieving my fathers emotional abuse as a child.
@@Amatullah.574 I’m 42. I really relate. It’s like most our lives we go through thinking we’re the problem and hating ourselves for it because we were trained to see the abuse as normal. Takes so long to figure out. Good luck to you. 💚
With a high ticb number and lowviron and ferritin why would one of those finger sensors still say 98 to 99? That has me confused.
Hello Dr. Thank you so much!😃
Exceptional thank you 💓

Does cooking in cast iron a good source of Iron.
No

So no benefit in Cast Iron?
What are the lab tests to get all these information about the blood ?
I was just diagnosed with anemia and they told me I need to take 2 vitamins a day with a glass of orange juice. I suffered a miscarriage and ignored it for about a month because I thought it was a crazy period 😭
Very smart to design the redblood cel the way it is.The person must be a real genius.
Jehovah God designed the whole body. Get to know him by reading your bible.

Also look up Revero read their testimones & watch their vids.
see dr berg's vid son "standing up and being dizzy"
take care.
multiple smaller meals during your feeding window. don't eat just twice. how are you doing these 2 years later?
Dr. Ekberg, can you also have low WBC with anemia?
Thank you. I know I have it and need to get rid of it. :-(
Hi Dr. thank you so much for making all these video it benefits us a lot we appreciate it more than you know 🌺💕I just had a question I have a lot of gut issues like a leaky gut cebo and more, I had a question about my ferritin the blood work was law the number was 6 , and Iron bind cap.(tibc) is hi 455, I see two doctors for different reasons and they told me about the iron the naturopath told me you shouldn’t be taking iron your body is making a lot of iron but you’re absorbing it and my other doctor said no your body is crying for iron you have to take iron 🤷♀️…so I don’t know what to do …can you please let me know what’s going on ?? thank you so much and God bless you🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻💐🙂
As per Dr Ekberg's suggestion, TIBC shows how hungry your body is for iron. Your TIBC is higher than 350, means hungry for iron. If ferritin is 6, your iron storage is about to run out. Natural food is better than supplements most of the time. All the best.
Another awesome video,in ur style Dr Ekberg,👌
Thank you Joseph Manoah.
Will you do a segment on sickle-cell the blood disorder
Thank you!
My ferritin is lower than normal but hemoglobin is 12, and it's supposed to be btwn 12-16, my b12 is also ok
Am getting iron infusion 2 times, let me see how I will react
@dr.Sten Ekberg, it's far from flattery in appreciation of your explanation of anemia desease!! I felt så speechless when it sound så clear enabling me to talk about it to my dearest syster who is so tired that it takes her to despair and even fatalist, although younger than me of more than decency. She is undertaken by specialist but I 'm afraid here it's dealing mostly within pharmaco. To tell you the truth I can't afford the amount of courage to see her death in blood cancer. Meanwhile, this is for me best gift I can make for her within your reliable explanation. Dr.Sten Ekberg, you know what :you are such genius we don't come across very often!!
Be blessed and may mother Svea protect you and your beloved family, where ever you are.

Could low iron or anemia cause heart palpitations?
Yes.
No
Dr. Ekberg....I have this in mine....I have had a Gallbladder Removed...what you think best ....been following every post and I'm actually much better than ever...now ...I keep having a "Diarrhea" 1..2..3.. days normal and few days liquid...So.??
I been diagnosed with this condition, and been put on meds the issue I have I get up in the morning and feel charged but by the end of the day I feel drained as if I’m not getting better what would you suggest I do . Thanks tom
Interesting. I'm male. My MCV is in standard range but my RBC, Hgb and hematocrit is below. I'm always tired.
What is the reason of palpitations and burps same time with normal blood pressure and normal pulse rate
Thank you Mohammed Sameeuddin Asif. Probably some digestive irritation. The vagus nerve runs along the esophagus and is involved with both digestion and heart rate. 😄
How about the age does it make a difference?

Hi doc, is it ok for an anemic to perform fasting?
Hello ,did someone answer u cuz m worried , having ferritine 9 and haemoglobin 10.6 ,m just confused and scared
It is ok,I am doing it,had severe problems few years ago and fasting actually repairs the gut which then increases nutrient absorbtion
Thank you for all the information and heathy tips , my wife was diagnosed with anemia, can i ask you if ACV Can help with the anemia? And if she needs to stop her intermittent fasting to eat more? Thank you, hope you can answer any of my questions
