David clayton....one of the best Voice singer I ever heard... Voice of a real singer...my respect....lovely.. I heard is voice at the first time went I was 14...lovely.
Brilliant band. And Thomas-what a marvelous, soulful voice. But: he was emphatically NOT a good-natured guy. He was a shit-guy, an alcoholic who treated women horribly.
David had a problem with his father and ran away from home as a kid. He was arrested numerous times for vagrancy, stealing (to eat), and fighting. One of the times he was in jail, his cellmate left a guitar and David taught himself how to play. He went on to spend a lot of time in New York and made money performing at a place where people would sing and then they'd pass the hat around to see what the crowd wanted to give them. Joan Collins (I think) knew the drummer of Blood, Sweat and Tears and suggested they hire him.
@@HotelierNYC Yeah he had that kind of personality, unfortunately, you didn't hear much about him after the 70s, he blew what could have been a brilliant career, look at the other band Guercio produced a little group called Chicago.
A voice like none other. Old time band that played "real music" that required tight arrangement, quality musicians, and a strong lead voice -- they had it then !
Those beautiful and lovely days won't be back anymore. David clayton-thomas is one of the best singers that I ever heard, a real musician. He singing comes straight from the heart. I miss those days so much.
What a tremendous band. So tight it comes off as effortless. Ain’t no auto-tune goin’ on here baby! B, S & T, C.T.A. and Tower of Power - the three best horn sections ever.
At one time one producer was producing both bands albums at the same time. We were so lucky to have thus music as kids .We didn't care what you tried to call it sounded damn good to us.
A homeless kid, had to steal to not starve. Arrested, put away he taught himself guitar in jail. Played coffee houses for cheap wages. He made it. David Clayton Thomas was a throw away kid who made it! Next time you think you are unlucky, you make your own luck, he did.
love this group, love this singer. NO ONE WILL EVER REPLACE HIM. so glad my mom listened to BS&T and bought their albums in the 70's while I was so young, otherwise I would have never known about them.
I was born in 1960 & kinda missed these until around 2 years ago. I feel blessed privileged to have been exposed to and influenced by so many kinds of music and have the opportunity to revisit what i've missed. It's truly wonderful. Have a blessed day, night, life y'all🧡
God Bless my step-dad for passing his old BSnT albums down to me, and hopefully, someday, his 1963 Hammond b3 with the Leslie speakers BST n all the old bands tote around to this day!!!
I went to a BST concert, when they came to my hometown, Mazatlán, sin, México, back in 2002...I couldn't believe It! One of the best concerts I've ever been! Greetings!!
Outstanding band I remember hearing these songs on AM radio riding with my parents thank goodness they never turned down the volume 🤣 fantastic music as a Bass Player and a huge Tower of Power fan I love the horn section in this music 🎶 absolutely awesomeness 👍🎶😎🙌👍
BST certainly combined the best blend of rock and jazz such class and for me have never been surpassed arrangements as tight as they come and the power of Clayton Thomas's vocals the cherry on top I'm privileged to have grown up in an era of really great music
Called my Dad this evening and reminisced. He told me his favorite albums, songs, and here I am, taking a trip down childhood lane remembering waking up to this blaring from the living room ❤️ I remember “When I Die” horns section and that upbeat tempo.
How on earth does a 59 year old find himself just recently falling in love with BST! And honestly it was a cover from Lenoid (?) And friends. Bless you all and I feel so lucky to have a wonderful "new" band to get to know because...they just don't make me like they use to 😎❤
BST had it all. Great vocals and an incredible band. The hits just came coming in the 70's. The lyrics are so thought provoking and will live on forever.
Really tasty! Always loved the passion, power and dead on pitch of David Clayton-Thomas too! Really great arrangement beginning with and ending with the Erik Satie. A roller coaster ride of their greatest!
Both my husband and I love them still to 2017. He reminds me of a grizzly bear prowling the stage. You made me so very happy is our song that we love to dance to at weddings. DCT is a growling soul singer and deserves to be more famous than he is.
Nice start with Gymnopedie No 1. That's pure class and quality, boys. Bravo. Almost thought it was Charlie's Look At Your Game Girl, haha. Great jazz chords.
We were so fortunate to have BS&T in our youth...Dick Halligan, one of the originators, was a graduate of our Queensbury HS in upstate NY and student of John Boor, the first band director at the newly formed school district.
From the days of THE BLUES PROJECT To Al KOOPER Vocals and then David Clayton Thomas Blood Sweat & Tears has given us The Ultimate Fusion The perfect Blend of Rock & Jazz!
BS& T - Produced by James Guercio who also produced Chicago ! Fantastic horn bands..David Clayton Thomas what a rich , bluesy , soulful , powerful voice .... My God these bands we're so incredible ! BS& T , Chicago , Tower of Power , EW&F - (late 60's - 70's - 80's) Incredible tasty , full , rich , music !! God bless those times !! AMEN 🎷🙋♂️😃🏆

Super band, they really had it all. And that David Clayton Thomas... what a voice and seems like such a good-natured guy. Awesome performance.

a voice with that tone second to none.....I recall hearing them on an 8 track a long time ago.
Criminally underrated singer. Wish we could have heard much more of him.
But who cares
@@warjoy1 I do!
A voice like none other. Old time band that played "real music" that required tight arrangement, quality musicians, and a strong lead voice -- they had it then !
BEARS121 Amen.
A voice of gravel and honey combined. I always enjoyed his performances and BST as well.
I like his soulful 'country boy' sound!!
Where are you real singers,real musicians,real men,I wonder?Sweet memory!Thank you very much,dude!
Those beautiful and lovely days won't be back anymore. David clayton-thomas is one of the best singers that I ever heard, a real musician. He singing comes straight from the heart. I miss those days so much.
You got that right
What a tremendous band. So tight it comes off as effortless. Ain’t no auto-tune goin’ on here baby! B, S & T, C.T.A. and Tower of Power - the three best horn sections ever.
Earl Seymour and Mic Gilette, 2 of my favourate horn players of all time and the best soul singer ever to come out of Canada
I'm so very happy to have discovered the music of BST all those years ago. I'm privileged to have lived through the very best eras of modern music.
Blood Sweat & Tears with The Chicago Transit Authority (Chicago) had the best brass arrangements of the very late sixties. So original soo great.
Thank you big band era for providing the inspiration.
You can add Tower of Power to that list
At one time one producer was producing both bands albums at the same time. We were so lucky to have thus music as kids .We didn't care what you tried to call it sounded damn good to us.
ABSO FUKIN LUTELY Facts
I love that group. What great memories of the past.
