The 2.5 and Limited Pro Stock classes of Diesel Sled Pulls are probably the most popular with the crowd at NHRDA Diesel Nationals, primarily because these are trucks that are relatable...models that many in the crowd own and drive on a daily basis and can root for to make the longest pull of the day.

I own diesels and like diesels. But at a pull I'd much rather watch modified gas or blown alcohol pullers. Diesel pullers are too similar in nature from one to the next.
hey man really like it vids. I watch a bunch of the truck pulls on it channel and others and it seems like there are a shit ton more dodges than any other make why is that?

at 4.22, does that dodge have a plate that can slide over the turbo intake? I suppose this would be used in a runaway situation or is it something else. Thanks.
evs613 I believe that's a physical shutoff safety mechanism. Diesels have been known to "runaway"....but I could be wrong. Good eye though!
Do all sled pull diesels need this device or is this just a owner installed thing? I tried looking it up, but couldn't find much info. *edit: Looks like I spoke too soon. It is an air cut off device. From the NHRDA rule book: "Air Shutoff's required- consisting of (1) cable to the rear of the truck to be operated by the sled, and
also a cable inside the driver's compartment " Cool. This should almost be something that all diesels have.
I Googled Runaway Diesel Engine Safety Shutoff and came up with this

Cummins 5.9 is a good engine. So is OM 606...not as much power, of course, but half the weight and displacement.Check out Black Smoke Racing drifter, for example...rather bad ass too...

GingNinj watch the weight on the trailer move forward
there's a stop of some sort on the trailer they are hauling in the competition; the faster they go the faster the "stop" slides to the bed of the truck; it adds weight as it moves but also provides a safety to prevent overhauls on the engine and transmissions so they dont founder
once the weight block on the sled hits it stops it loads the front of the sled putting more downforce causing the pull to slow
a f150 can also do that or can not
