Charge pipe came off. Make loud whirring sound. Engine didnt die.
@@billmedvec5514I’d say exhaust dump broke/melted off. Remember there is extreme egt’s and also back pressure in there. Blowing a hole/crack just like an oxy torch. The reason I say this is because you don’t get that kind of soot out of the charge pipes coming off

I enjoy watching, but this hobby obviously takes a lot of money, time, and skill. Those rigs cost a fortune and there's the equipment needed to carry them around. it takes a lot of time to build, maintain, and haul them. They always break at some point costing even more money and time.
They are sometimes pushed to and past their limit.
If I remember correctly, one of the rules is that the engine's block has to be stock, so it's gonna break eventually

Hot rods of any type are strictly a rich mańs hobby.
I realize the drivers have helmets, but I notice none of the roll cages have foam padding. I'd think the "bell ringing" could be less violent if there was some softness on the cage itself.

You know these V8 powered lawn tractors really oughta upgrade their front ends. Them control arms come apart like they're stock Craftsman lawnmower parts!
Half of them wouldn't blow up the way they do if they'd let of the throttle when they quit moving forward.

Glad I ain't the only one who seen that.
I wonder if the failed runs wouldn't occur so frequently or dramatically if the front axles on certain machines (e.g., 3:33) weren't so comically undersized relative to the weight they have to bear.
That's not the only point, if they would use something like a shock absorber the frontwheels won't break apart from the frame...
Sometimes there’s rules that limit what you can’t do. Generally the idea is that you want to save the weight on the front so you have more weight you can move around to get the right balance for the track. If you did big wheels and heavy suspension that’s a hundred or so pounds you can’t move around.
Every single one with the tiny little shopping cart wheels on the front does the exact same thing. Bounces. Breaks a wheel off and drags to a stop in the mud. I’m watching this wondering why they even build those. They seem inherently flawed lol
According to several people (granted in TH-cam comments) its not super common. This is a fails compilation. Theres 1000 we don't see, where they worked perfectly.
On 07:25, perfect light, perfect camera angle, way above tractor pulling. Just.. perfect footage. Probably unwanted, amateur maybe, but very very beautiful, just some good luck anyhow... Incomprehensible by most, pure art 👏

The thing I noticed is the mishaps happen when the tractor starts bucking like a wild bull. When it starts doing that you need to get off the throttle

That would be ok if you could have another go at a pull but because you have limited pulls 3 I think but Im sure I'm wrong, it could be more could be less either way you make every pull count

Anymore else notice when the weight box slams the front of the drag sled that's when a bunch of these blow a drive shaft?
Looks to me like the little lawn tractor division have front tire break off problems 9/10. Doesn’t seem worth it to put a decked out big block on those things
They rarely have problems. Remember this is a mishaps video. We probably tape over 1000 to 1500 passes a year (maybe more) and these are the only mishaps.
They are the billy baloney of the pull class .. like a red headed step child

That's the supercharger belt.
It's the blower belt, timing chain is small and behind covers on them
Don't matter what belt it was, it still said.

Wow was surprised to see a Walsh Bros tractor. I thought they got out of pulling completely after the mishap at Fort Recovery,Ohio
They have been back out pulling the last few years. At first the had 2 turbines Mods. In 2023, they ran the "4 Aces" turbine mod and "Irish Challenger 2.0" as seen in this video.
Small ones bounce and break the front axles. Springs not allowed?
You always want a straight level pull on the engine. When they start bucking up and down the fuel pedel, its not going to end well.

I always thought someday I might build a superstock tractor. I think I'll just stick with pulling the 185 allis and the 4440 jd at the local county fairs. It's alot cheaper!😅

Cool video but I noticed any tractor with little tires in front just get toasted.
Keep in mind this is a mishaps only video from a whole season of passes. We probably tapped well over 1000 passes last season.

Used to love mini mods. But they can’t handle the horsepower now.
They should run diesel in the tractors like they use too instead of alcohol and lower the rpm and they wouldn’t go kablooey
I pulled up for the kablooey man 😂
You want horsepower and rpm for the speed. They’re already carrying the front end so can’t put any more torque to the ground and once the sled tops out it’s gonna stop. So, gotta get it moving as fast as possible while you can.
A lot of these are diesel

with the small one (single superchage v8) ca 90% of the times it's the front wheels that goes bye bye, you can say what you want, the big ones has a huge wariation of problems so betwin an engine fire and the front wheels braking i woill happyli take the later but steal i would have thought the have conected the dods and re-inforced those wheels

I do kinda wonder why they don't put more engineering into the front wheels. You've got like a 60 inch wheel on the back and probably like a dozen lugs for them and at the front, half of these things have the front wheels from a garbage bin mounted by like a spigot shaft.
Can anyone tell me what the gas/liquid is that is being expelled from underneath the tractor/truck?
Usually oil or very rarely brake fluid or even fuel

Typically there isn't any issues with the "dink little front wheels". These are just the mishaps from a whole season. I have seen probably just has many bigger tractor tires have issues as much as the little ones.
Youd think that these professionals whove been doing it for decades would stop and ask you, a random person on youtube with zero knowledge, how to build their machines

The pulling sled increases weight the further it's pulled
The sled opposes the pull.
The trailer being pulled acts as a brake. The guy in the cab controls how fast the the weight moves forward and increases the pressure against the skids/brake on the bottom of the trailer. TH-cam *smarter every day tractor pull* there's a great breakdown of how it works.

these trucks should come with an onboard fire suppression system. couldnt b that hard to put in.

Attending my first event this weekend, do these blow ups happen pretty often?
We usually tape 40-60 sessions of pulling a year and these mishaps are from an entire season of events.
I wonder what happens to the clutch plate😅

I wouldn't be surprised if those big wheel ones give people concussions even with the helmets on. That looks rediculously painful to get tossed around in. Needs some kind of special 3d hans device.

The sled is very heavy as it goes down the track. To get momentum you need speed to get speed u need power ...LOTS OF IT

They would probably do a decent standing quarter. Most of these would probably fall into the gasser category.

Not certain I get the point of the tiny front wheels. They are always broke, and not just in situations like these. Constantly the failure point in otherwise normal pulls.
Just curious, but can anyone translate all of these mechanical failures into real dollars for repairs??

These are mishaps from a whole season of filming. We probably tape between 1,000 and 1,500 passes a year, (maybe more). So blow ups don't happen every time.

All the money invested in those rigs and they can't find it within their budget to beef up those front ends? Seems like many would have had it if the front end would hold up.
So are the tractors with the small front wheels a particular class in these pulls? Maybe the 4-engine rig is another class?
The small ones are Mini Rods. The 4 engine ones are Super Modifieds. This video is made up a bunch of different divisions from a whole season of pulling. If you go to our channel's videos, you will see a bunch of class videos that show the actual competition.
