    1:58 "I tow a lot of trailers..." I think that was a big part of Whitcomb's win. When his truck got squirrely, he had the instinctive muscle memory to make just the right corrections to keep it all in line and put the power down.

      surprisingly Nick, a lot of people buy diesel trucks because "muh diesel" yet they cant even back up a 10ft snowmobile trailer.

      I'd have bowed out just from the load securement. or lack of it I should say. DOT regs call for 4 corner securement on a machine that heavy. They didn't even have that on it.

    • @jjjr8664
      @jjjr8664 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      There's not a chance in the world that the bobcat meets cab unless jack-knifed. Even then... Extremely unlikely given the negative (truck weight) in pull, to positive (trailer weight) in tow. Unless this is a down hill raceway. You could slam on your bakes at 80mph...youd have a worse day with the wall than the bobcat.

      It would have sucked,in more ways than one. The 7.3 is definitely one of the toughest, longest lasting diesels ever made,but when it comes to making power they just cant compete! They guzzle fuel,and still get left behind in a cloud of smoke by a little 6.0 p.s.d. or a duramax. They quit making them for a reason.

    • @stroker-jg7ml
      @stroker-jg7ml 6 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      @@andrewfarrell4312 they quit making them because epa government mandates said 6.7 liters was max displacement starting in 2004. So international came up with the 6.0 liter. 7.3 can make big power, but it takes deep pockets. Ive seen more than a couple 800 hp 1400 lb ft 7.3.

    Okay confession time. I know nothing about trucks, never drove one, in my country there are maybe a hundred of them in total, I am by no means acquainted with automatic gearboxes and off-road rigs do not interest me in the slightest manner. Hell, I don't even like diesels. But I sure do look forward to yt coverage of this event each year.

    WTF is the point in wearing a helmet if you don’t do the strap? Add that to the fact that Kevin Jacob didn’t bother to put a seat belt on his fat ass before the racing down the track while towing 10,000lbs and DP is lucky this year’s DPC didn’t have a tragic ending... I'm not dogging anyone or trying to claim any victories because that type of dude impresses me none. Cummings are clearly a solid benchmark for light truck diesel engines, duramax has proven their worth many times as well, but I knew a guy with a built up 6.0 powerstroke and another with a heavily built 6.4. Yes we all know the head bolt issues and so on but I knew from driving them that they were insanely capable engines. I work in a HDA (Heavy Duty America) powertrain and driveline rebuild and repair shop and I've dealt with all of the light truck diesels and generally much larger equipment. Again I won't throw that TH-cam comment claim of being an end all be all expert because I'm not, the designers, builders, and mod techs are. But I do have some solid experience. All I'm saying is that the 6.0 and 6.4 have been shit down and ridiculed for so long that I started to forget a tiny bit. Then I see this and realize I wasn't remembering the past incorrectly. Again, not saying anything bad about those other trucks because they clearly had the power to spin their launches. All I'm saying is that the 6.0 and 6.4 solidly and brutally performed a task that any diesel fan can appreciate.

    I have a 2004 6.7 Chevy. I did the standard EGR delete and cat delete. The fellow that I got it from, already had done dual Banks exhaust and A banks intake. I got me some XDP tuning with on the fly. I don't have a lift pump so I dare not take it to setting four or five, but I'll tell you what, I do not know that my camper is even on behind me.
    I did take it up to number four once when I gave my brother-in-law a ride. I had a full load of birch firewood in the back and when I turned off onto the highway, I gave her all she had, and it broke loose. It kind of scared me.
