An honest review, thanks, subscribed. Appreciate the mentions about stereo, and lacking low-end for Bluetooth payback. You confirmed everything I was suspecting about the Razors. Personally I would enjoy a video where you replicate the sound it produces, but that might be a bit technical to be a hit
I have been shooting shotguns, rifles, and pistols since 1971 (before electronic hearing protection - just stuck the filter end of a cigarette in my ears. Cigs were always available because they came in a pack of three cigarettes and a small pack of matches inside our c-rations packs. True😉). Also been near cannon fire, and various other explosive devices. Over the years of course, hearing protection became much better. And over those years I’ve tried many, many brands and types of hearing protection. I currently use Peltor and/or Walker Razor units, BUT, I typically (during lengthy shooting sessions) also wear a custom-made, “in-ear” hearing bud, along with the “over-the-ear” muffs for maximum hearing protection. The Walkers and Peltors work just fine😎
Yes the mic is detachable from the m32. A couple recommendations other than what's in the video (Cheap option) HW Impact Sports (High end &affordable) Sordin Supreme
I agree with this video, I bought the Walker’s Razor and tried them at the range and they do amplify conversations but don’t cut out gunshots that well. Also, they’re very uncomfortable to wear after about an hour my head was hurting. Remember this is my experience yours might be different.
Its not a matter of them failing, the sound quality is trash. They do amplify the sound but you cant really tell if its coming from the left or right. If someone is sneeking up on you, you wont know if its from the left, right, or behind you.
Just ordered a pair of Walker XCEL digital with 26db NRR and the 4 modes you said were decent for under $70 on Amazon. Gotta say, if they provide the 26db that my primary concern, decent hearing and clarity is secondary, so I hope they function as advertised in the 26db capacity. Thanks for a real review on this often-overlooked shooting necessity. Everyone goes nuts for optics, ammo, gear etc., not so much hearing.
@donculver8671 I don't have a decibel meter but I can say with 100% certainty it has better protection than the razors. On paper it's DB rating is higher too.
I have a pair of peltor and walkers and the peltor noise cancellation never worked right, but the walkers have been great for years.. I seem to be in the minority on this based on every youtube video I've watched.
@Bubblemech were they comtacs? I highly doubt you'd have a defective one. Although anything is possible. Comtacs are war fighting headsets so I would imagine that the cancelation would not be sensitive so that way it doesn't cut off when someone is trying to shoot move and communicate. But I only have very limited experience with comtacs.
The razors have cheaper way of connecting their wires into the headsets that ive found fails physically over time with static and then a total failure.
Walkers have so many models, and several of them look like redundant doubles or at least little difference that is very confusing. And their website does not give basic breakdowns of the product lines. The razor line has a lot to do with the headband and the slim muffs (always?), not all slim muffs are razors.
Right and it's confusing and you know what, after going through what I went through, I would never risk buying another walker product except for xcels because chances are its going to be the same razor electronics. Unless you can return it hassle free of course😊. But yeah not all razors are razor slims. The dB rating is not as good as the xcels too. Forgot to mention that in the video.
@MillaNine I'm still using the walker xcels and the earmor M32. If money wasn't an issue, I'd like to get my hands on ops core amps but that's a pipe dream.
Those quads look like an old model, others with the newer model say that they do omni directional and multi channel. I just ordered a pair, I shall see myself.
I never tried the other models, but I have the Razor Slim headsets. I wonder if quality control has slipped at Walkers. Been a Firearms & Tactics Instructor for over a decade. Many of my clients & students have Walkers. Many of the guys I work with (contractors) also have Walkers. Never heard of any issues. I have had 6 pairs of the Walker Razor Slim, and only had 1 pair ever go bad. Walkers replaced them no questions asked, even though I had them for years. I’ve used them on the range in the rain, off roading 4 wheelers, and skydiving. No issues. I have 2 versions of the Peltor Comtac headset. The Peltor’s sound better, but not by much. Both have the same noise cancellation.
im not talking smack on walkers, just the razor line. Wait till you put on a pair of XCELS, youll be flabbergasted. Also, the sound quality is way better than comtacs.
To be unbiased and scientifically correct, there must be a study with multiple individuals participating. A personal view of an individual’s perspective is just useless viewing.
@chauder71 beware the gun yotubers that say nothing but good things 😁. I gain nothing from giving honest negative reviews or opinions. What's not an opinion is that the walkers have 2 mics and they are mono hearing.
Sonic Ear Valves? were some of the best hearing protection ever. Mechanical, using no batteries. Like anything worthwhile they are no longer manufactured. Used a set when hunting. Thank you for the enlightened opinion. I look forward to purchasing the first pair from your new company. I'm sure they will be much better than Walkers. I follow the Kiss principle. It is about Hearing Protection not what you can hear around you. Foam plugs are the best for noise cancellation. Deception is an interesting term. I guess it all depends on your point of view. As a product review, grade D-. Toward the end, you finally admit... You're just larping. You achieved interaction on TH-cam at least.

Off topic but what brand apendex holster do you use?
I make them. The link is in the description. 😊
any other recommendations for electronic earpro? is the mic detachable from that m32 headset
Yes the mic is detachable from the m32.
A couple recommendations other than what's in the video
(Cheap option) HW Impact Sports
(High end &affordable) Sordin Supreme
He paid to bash them, walkers is one of the best budget ear protection on the market
The XCELS that I speak so highly of, are Walkers 😅
Can you please compare the XCEL to the new Recons?

You may have gotten a dud. I have had 7 pair (5 currently). Only 1 went out after years of use, and Walkers replaced them no questions asked.

I’ve always cheaped out on ear pro. I may try the XL’s.
What radio do you use? Not many videos out there on that.
@jeremyb251 pretty much any of the baofengs on Amazon. They work well and really hold up. Mine came with extra battery's and a few extra stuff.
The razors have cheaper way of connecting their wires into the headsets that ive found fails physically over time with static and then a total failure.
That's for the great review. I will say, though, that saying "these ones" hurts my ears. It's redundant. Leave off the "ones". 😉
@@MsAjax409 I need to work on this
I've got two pair and love them. Are they the best? Well no but for $40 I have no issues with them.
Are the Walker FireMax Earmuffs mono or stereo?
@eeefiom who knows haha. I'd give them a try if you shop at a place with a good return policy.
the voices in my head wont go away now after using the xcel's

@Mr.Randy210 they all same omnidirectional but... multichannel?? Hmm please let me know.
They've improved with the Recon products.

Any way to make the rechargeable ones Bluetooth?
@@redactedCowboys what do you mean by rechargeable ones?
Meh, my walkers work great and had no issues. Rexommend them to anyone who needs ear pros and dont want to spend 700 dollars for a pair of ear pros
Good job sir, good job

Howard impact sports 45 bucks and they work great .
@@charles17508 I totally forgot to mention them as a better alternative to the razors.
what about the howard leights?
They are stereo. Sound clarity not so great. About 10 bucks more than walkers razors. 👍
