This isn’t really on topic, I just find it funny that we have the stands The World and Star Platinum (named after the tarot for The Star) which are these humanoid, short ranged power type stands, but the stand The Sun is literally just a friggin sun.
@@ICTON123 I believe that part 8 Hermit Purple is not the same as one from part 3. In part 3 it had a hamon ability to see future In part 8 it was moving in a different fashion, similar to a Ball Breaker spin, so it seems that Hermit Purple from part 8 was infused with spin, not hamon

Dio loved to experiment with his vampiric abilities. But the chimera zombies really weren't useful so he didn't make more of them, it's as simple as that.
Yeah they weren’t like powerful minions. All they did is look creepy and that’s it. Like the only time this ability was ever useful was 2 times in the entire series. One Being he used this power to attach his own head to Jonathan’s body, and two when he used it to reattached vanilla ice’s head back onto his body after giving him the vampire blood.

I think its just the lack of clarity and detail in certain moments. A lot of these Araki Forgot explanations are like okay yeah i guess that makes sense... But the fact that someone other than the author has to explain (more like defend) it and that theres these moments that the majority of people are confused by in the first place speaks to something outside of everyone individually just happening to be stupid. If you go back and read past parts can you come up with an explanation in your head for why x thing happened? Sure, but it would be a lot better if the author had in the moment of x happening acknowledged it at all, instead of needing to make a fan theory for things every time.
I'm still confused though about how vampire blood works. Wouldn't the person who receives vampire blood be able to regenerate flesh similar to how Dio does? Or is that restricted to vampires like Dio who were made into vampires via the stone mask?
@@mikeymod3665 im not sure, but imo its a conscious act. considering how vanilla ice, even though he was a fresh vampire, did not heal any wounds he received, but kept on fighting, while during jotaro vs dio fight when polnareff ambushed dio and impaled his head, dio probably focused on that area and healed. not sure though, its just what i think and its probably flawed too.
@@bootyannihilator4931 yes, but it might have been instinctive, in the fight with the N'doul you see the same visual effects that Dio gets when he stops time, so maybe Jotaro stopped time accidentally.
If you can understand the reasoning in that scene, you can understand why Hierophant Green was invisible when Kakyoin was first introduced. It was simply a way to build up anticipation of how much of a threat he'd be and what his powers are. Retrospectively, it's also a good thematic choice given Kakyoin's backstory.

Another thing about Joseph's soul leaving his body: Bruford and Tarkus' souls returned to their bodies after being dead for 500 years, I'm pretty sure that Joseph's soul can return to his after being dead for 4 minutes.
This is a misconseption imo, "Stands can't bring back the dead people" does not mean "the people can't go back by its own for reasons, fate and will to live" or "people can't return back from the dead using other powers". In fact, all the time people got back from the eternal rest (apart from Tarkus and Bruford, they are zombies/vampires) it was not directly beacause of a stand power but beacause of their will to live and their possibility to come back in a healed body: Joseph had literally his heart restarted as a normal medical manouver, just with stands, Okuyasu was sent back by his brother in a completely functioning body and Bucciarati wasn't even that alive since he was no more than a spirit in a flesh golem doomed to start rotting in a bunch of months Edit: DAYS, I totally forgot Bucciarati was rotting even during the manga!
I thought that Dio didn't come out of the coffin until a century later because: 1) He was stuck in the middle of the ocean. There aren't many places where he could have hid away from sunlight during the day. Better to wait until something happens. 2) Taking control of Jonathan's body took a REALLY long time. Dio simply was in no condition of escaping.
@@trhytuhtfyjutrfh The coffin's made of iron or reinforced with it, so less "he had no way of telling time" and more "he couldn't even get out if he WANTED to. The pressure at the bottom of the ocean would have been pushing in on the coffin from all sides and unless Dio wanted to check out if vampires can survive violent decompression (protip, that generally results in being turned into paste), he'd be stuck in there until something pulled him out.
that was more due to the fact moody blues takes on any property of the body its replicating, rather than stand shrinking. narancia body got smol, so moody blues got smol as well. thats it
The strangulation thing is actually easier to explain and makes perfect sense. When you're stand is affected by something, so are you. If your stand gets choked, your neck gets squeezed too. So even if the stand doesn't need air, strangling them still suffocated the user.
Something interesting about the "Dio having all stands" theory I realized: Dio does not have every stand, of course, but he DOES have every stand of the joestar bloodline (at the time, because remember that Josuke and Giorno were not stand users during when Dio was alive). He had Star Platinum in the form of The World, since they have been shown to be the exact same stand. He has Hermit Purple, as seen through him using it multiple times. He also even has Holly's stand. During the D'arby the Player fight, when Kakyoin has the flashback with him first confronting Dio, we can see the thorny plant Stand around Dio and Kakyoin both in the anime and manga. People say that Araki has terrible memory, but in reality he's a genius with his story.
I find the whole "whatever Dio touches in stopped time can move with him" thing kinda funny cause if this weren't true I'd imagine him unable to move due to his clothes
@@jujokotaro4177 I hate how people go around stating it as fact Not saying you are, but there are people who actually think Star Platinum can copy abilities like Boy 2 Man can.
Given that Stands are basically people's souls, Dio having Jonathan's stand, the fact that Jonathan's body sending the signal was reffered to as a "him", and the fact that when people die in Jojo, their spirits can return to their bodies if they're healed but not completely dead, (like Joseph and temporarily Buccarati) I think Jonathan's spirit lived on inside Dio's body, sending the distress signal so that Dio can be stopped and that he and his family can finally rest in peace. And if this stand works like The Passion (it's variant in Jorge Joestar) but only for Jonathan, then it's possible he knew Dio was fated to die thanks to his signal.
I'll do you one better with if Jonathan's Stand works like in Jorge: he would have foreseen that Holy and Josuke (and, given the time period, probably also Haruno) would get sick from the distress signal giving Jotaro the power to defeat DIO, and set off a domino effect of Jotaro getting motivation to do it, AND Josuke and Giorno gaining enough experience with their Stands to be able to triumph over their own villains compared to if he made the distress signal more specific. Forget Pucci being two steps ahead of Jotaro, _Jonathan_ was playing three steps ahead of the Heaven Plan itself by setting up this amazing RIPPLE EFFECT by making himself that first drop in the still pond of fate. His willpower flowed through the entire bloodline and made its way ALL THE WAY to Emporio (Jonathan > DIO > Joestars > Pucci > Weather > Emporio via Weather Report's DISC) and into the Ireneverse. One distress signal that not only set off a direct event to free his body from DIO's control, but retroactively hijacked the Heaven Plan to give _his descendants_ a good life rather than the tragedy that the Joestar bloodline had gone through.
I always wondered how the magnet trick even worked, since magnets couldn't move in stopped time. Because of this, I realized it's because the magnet was touching Dio and Jotaro.
@@Predator20357 Yeah.. Ocean Man is a 90's song and Jotaro was written in the 80's. But i don't think his character would worked If he was only introduced in part 4. Hamon does keep Joseph relatively in shape for his age. Sure he did not practice it for a while and hence did not age as well as Lisa Lisa or Will Zeppeli, but the positive effects of learning Hamon definitely still showed.
I realize this is a really old video and it’s silly to comment this now, but there’s something really chilling about Jonathan’s defiled undead body obtaining a stand because of Dio. It’s genuinely a zombie stand.
I think it was said when Dio first took Jonathan’s body he didn’t have full control over it so Elizabeth & Lisa Lisa was protected & Dio need Jostar blood to fully claim the body
I hate how people say "Dio doesn't know what a car is, but knows what's a flight attendant" Even though when he saw a car he referred to it as an "automobile" instead of "what is this?"
My question is, how could DIO use Jonathan's stand? He only has Jonathan's body, and if stands are connected to your consciousness, how did he use the stand if Jonathan is dead?
Think of it like doppio and diavolo they both share a body and use the same stand since doppio probably wasn't worthy back then he didn't get a stand but we know Jonathan's worthy so
@@kevinnigins9488 but heaven does exist in the jojo universe so when dio would get a stand Johnathan would to and take notice of his stand. Good lord half of these claims can be summed up as: "Remember when this character used this move to get out of a specific scenario and that scenario never came up again?" Silly. Great series so far!

@@triangulum8869 That may have to wait. They haven't really been fully explained in-universe so giving a rundown wouldn't be too effective at the moment.
I do think there are some legitimate uses for this, especially for stands with a long range, or who’s ability might not be affected by size: koichis echoes act 2 for example, since its range is so far he could pull off some assasination type stuff, and fugos virus’s won’t lose effectiveness with size. Granted, you’d have to shrink your stand while hiding out of sight, then have it fly ever so slowly to your opponent, and idk if there were exact scenarios for koichi like that but I still think it’s useful
star platinum having timestop just makes sense tbh, it's supposed to be one of the fastest stands, and the endpoint of speed is being able to so fast you're able to move in the space between points of time, i.e. stopping it
I guess it is poetic in a way. The World's signature move is grinding time to a halt, but Star Platinum is so strong and fast that in short bursts, it can even exceed time itself
it also makes sense from a tarot point of view, when we interpret the timestop ability as being properly named Star Platinum: The World. The Star is a card that means a journey and hope. ALL the enemy Tarot stand users have their inverted meanings, as Tower of Grey spells out with his "accidents and end of a journey" spiel matching Tower inverted. The World inverted means an unaccomplished, unfinished or unattainable goal. The World upright is a completed/achieved goal. With Star Platinum: The World, the journey is over and the goal is accomplished. The Star was always going to reach The World.
There's a world of difference between having a super fast stand and having the ability to stop time. REALLY should have had a little bit more build up within the story itself.
You know, for an anime with the phrase “Bizarre Adventures” in its name, people nitpick a lot of the bizarre things that happen. Jus enjoy the craziness even if it makes no sense
Dio: Ah, back in my youth days, there were only wagon carried by horses. Now such wagon has machine more powerful and much faster. How time flies! Fans: so you were saying that you never saw a car before, right? You never know what a car is, right?
The “Has Dio never seen a car before got me.” You know whenever someone’s like ‘back in my day we had to use the phone book to contact people’ That. He’s literally doing just that, and people do this *daily.*
Even if the sun stand could hurt Dio, him being able to seduce its user is not a plothole, that’s a character trait. Dio has a seductive personality, so much so he can even convince potential threats to him to serve him, if the sun would affect him like a real sun which like you said likely doesn’t. People for some reason can’t comprehend that characters had character traits, and the existence of said traits are not plotholes
Araki does hv a lot instances of bad writing though. A lot of the debunking done in this video is basically giving araki and the show the benefit of a doubt instead of concrete evidence
Everyone keeps talking about Star Finger, or "they're the same type of stand", but the transitive property works both ways. In the strangest alternate reality, we could have gotten *World Finger.*
Personally, I like to think that the moments at 18:07 are simply the stands themselves being the center of movement, and as the raise themselves up, so are Jotaro and Dio. If this wasn’t possible, then swinging with HG or HP wouldn’t be possible. This is also supported by stands themselves being punched (like in part 5) and the uset as well being sent flyingeniør with them.
20:20 That's actually preety do able since the human brain can last about 3-6 minutes without oxygen before becoming clinically dead. Dio took the blood 4 minutes ago which makes it in the time limit where the brain can still hold out.
I personally think Kakyoin was surprised that Jotaro deflected the Emerald Splash, because he's never fought another Stand user before that. Therefore, he's never fought anyone who could see the attack coming.
ok at like 9 minutes, he explains that aya and tonio got their stands from mastery of a craft, but I think its more like their stand was born from strong desire. Tonio wanted everyone who tried his food to be happy so much he got a stand, and aya wanted to give everyone a chance at love really badly. Kinda like how in part 7 Pocolocco had a peaceful spirit but he got so lucky a stand emerged from his luck. The sculptor in the sleeping slaves arc in part 5 is one i cant explain like that though.
18:06 When I watched the anime and read the manga, I knew they weren't really flying, but I sometimes was confused and didn't knew if I should think that it was the shock and force of their punches that were making they 'fload' or if it was just a changing in pace and timing. Great video, btw
Araki forgot to show Younger D'arby's soul collection being liberated. Or alternately, to show the Crusaders expressing regret about not being able to liberate them. It would be cold and out-of-character if the protags just decided they don't care about 15 tortured souls being left trapped with a psychopath.
They literally showed elder darby's collection being liberated why show it twice? Do you need every single piece of information relayed to yourself? Can you not infer the obvious on your own
I think Star Platinum's range issue is more a "Araki changed his mind" rather than "Araki forgot" issue. Besides, it was just a comical way to hint that SP wasn't really a evil spirit.
TheSunTitan well at first he was going for stands have unlimited range but lessen in power the farther they are thus stands with 5 meters as their range would be most powerful behind that distance but could go as far as the user made them. Then Araki decided that they would stop at that mark instead since it would literally be star platinum and other close range stands would have that far distance but less power trade off and that would be a little bit dull to technically have all stands being long distance stands so that’s most likely why he changed it
Araki does hv a lot instances of bad writing though. A lot of the debunking done in this video is basically giving araki and the show the benefit of a doubt instead of concrete evidence
For me it seemed more like a flex if nothing else. H.Green is a super stealthy and assassination-type stand, and Kakyoin is incredibly smart. Being incredibly smart comes with wanting to flex that brain (even if it is partially impaled). If I had his stand I'd probably do that stupid painting and puppet stuff too just to throw them off my case.
@@clayxros576 Especially when so much of Stand fighting relies on the enemy not knowing your abilities, confusing them with paintings and puppets is a great plan. Too bad DIO's minions knew the Crusader's abilities or else we might have gotten more of that from Kakyoin.
@@onyxrose4349 Part of the issue is that Kak was controlled by DIO prior to that, so he didn't even have a chance to pull it with them. DIO probably informed the others what Kak's abilities were.
I think the reason he shifted toward Stands instead of Hamon is because with Stands, he could be way more creative and have their abilities be unique to one another
that, and the fact dio and friends were the only remaining vampires meant that hamon (a technique designed exclusively for fighting vampires) wasn't useful anymore
I think lots of people don't understand how star finger is only used when Jotaro is unable to move, so he uses it as a last ditch resort. It isn't like a super long and painful punch, it can only do minimal damage. The reason why it works so well in the Strength and Dark Blue Moon fights is because he is able to hit a weak spot, like Dark Blue Moon's eyes or strength's button. People who make the argument "oh just use star finger on Pucci" don't understand how it takes the full energy behind the stand to move the power into his fingers. He has to literally give all of his stand energy into his fingers to preform this. Its not lijke a quick long distance hit he can pull off on the fly. Because of it being weak and also it taking a lot of concentration, it simply isn't viable for Jotaro to use unless he is in a "I need range, but I can't move situation, and I just need to hit a blatant weakspot that can be hit by simply pushing it, rather than "Uh oh! Pucci is right next to me, Ill use star finger to bludgeon him to death!"

@@ICTON123 I believe that part 8 Hermit Purple is not the same as one from part 3.

The reason the stand was invisible in the scene of Star Platinum beating up the shark is because it was meant to represent what a non-stand user saw

Another thing about Joseph's soul leaving his body:
Bruford and Tarkus' souls returned to their bodies after being dead for 500 years, I'm pretty sure that Joseph's soul can return to his after being dead for 4 minutes.
It's the fact that they all were revived by vampire blood too
This is a misconseption imo, "Stands can't bring back the dead people" does not mean "the people can't go back by its own for reasons, fate and will to live" or "people can't return back from the dead using other powers".
In fact, all the time people got back from the eternal rest (apart from Tarkus and Bruford, they are zombies/vampires) it was not directly beacause of a stand power but beacause of their will to live and their possibility to come back in a healed body: Joseph had literally his heart restarted as a normal medical manouver, just with stands, Okuyasu was sent back by his brother in a completely functioning body and Bucciarati wasn't even that alive since he was no more than a spirit in a flesh golem doomed to start rotting in a bunch of months

The strangulation thing is actually easier to explain and makes perfect sense. When you're stand is affected by something, so are you. If your stand gets choked, your neck gets squeezed too. So even if the stand doesn't need air, strangling them still suffocated the user.
Something interesting about the "Dio having all stands" theory I realized:
Dio does not have every stand, of course, but he DOES have every stand of the joestar bloodline (at the time, because remember that Josuke and Giorno were not stand users during when Dio was alive). @@jujokotaro4177 I hate how people go around stating it as fact
Not saying you are, but there are people who actually think Star Platinum can copy abilities like Boy 2 Man can.

*step*
star platinum having timestop just makes sense tbh, it's supposed to be one of the fastest stands, and the endpoint of speed is being able to so fast you're able to move in the space between points of time, i.e. stopping it
I guess it is poetic in a way. The World's signature move is grinding time to a halt, but Star Platinum is so strong and fast that in short bursts, it can even exceed time itself
We see him using it minorly in the older dharby fight, when he got the drink out of nowhere.
it also makes sense from a tarot point of view, when we interpret the timestop ability as being properly named Star Platinum: The World.

People for some reason can’t comprehend that characters had character traits, and the existence of said traits are not plotholes

For your reminder of Joesphs ability to cheat death, he's alive in Part 6.

We even see Dio doing the exact same thing later in SD too.
No one actually deflects the emerald splash except DIO and Jotaro

ok at like 9 minutes, he explains that aya and tonio got their stands from mastery of a craft, but I think its more like their stand was born from strong desire.

Taking a ride in Aerosmith would be a good idea to go microscopic. Plus it would just be fun.
Araki forgot to show Younger D'arby's soul collection being liberated. Or alternately, to show the Crusaders expressing regret about not being able to liberate them.
It would be cold and out-of-character if the protags just decided they don't care about 15 tortured souls being left trapped with a psychopath.
But they were show beign liberared
Mak Chot literally. Most of these are “it’s not an Araki forgot they just changed their mind” excuses
Did you all not watch video?
Easier explanation, all that stuff was smuggled by the surrounding cell mates so it fits the two meter range
I personally think that the whole painting ability thing was just to not spoil Kakyoin's stand.
I always saw it as a cool way of intruducing kakyoin, a lot of enemy stand users are intruduced in mysterius ways.
@@simonj6801 ^
@@onyxrose4349
Part of the issue is that Kak was controlled by DIO prior to that, so he didn't even have a chance to pull it with them.
